These are great pedals, I run a pair of them as a stereo rig straight into an audio interface for recording. I just wanted to add another perspective regarding the range of the Voice control. To my ears, the setting around 9 o'clock is much more like a Twin Reverb, deeply mid scooped and brittle in the top end and fairly ugly when driven. This morphs into a blackface Deluxe up around 11 o'clock, still mid scooped but much friendlier and warmer with some drive. Things get brown or blonde from about 1 0'clock and then fully tweed at 3 o'clock, where the mid scoop has all but disappeared. Beyond that is nothing like most Fender amps, so your SuperSonic reference is a good call! This all makes the Voice control a powerful walk through Fender's amp history!

Can you get it to make single notes have that nice gravely sound? I'm trying to get that old blues harmonica sound but only does it on two or more notes, not single notes. Does a chorus help do that? I'm thinking it might as would be like duel notes

I have a Caline American Sound (same idea), and it is being used in front of a Marshall Origin 50H, and provides so much more tone shaping than the mamp on its own. Furthermore, many amps, like Marshalls are very midrange focused, and this pedal really does an amazing job providing Fender character. Cheap pedal, but don't be fooled by cost because they really do an amazing job. I am running mine last in the chain too, with the "Voice" character knob to the left- sure takes out the honkines of the Marshall mid-bump. Love it! Nice job on this video.

Just got mine and really love how it transforms my amp tone. For a classic Fender Deluxe Reverby sound, into an amp, would I put my combo reverb/Trem pedal before or after the Joyo?

    • @easy-to-read-name62
      @easy-to-read-name62 Год назад

@@BobEstremera the common view is that reverb goes after gain, but that's not necessarily true always imo. I think even in the real amp where the reverb is located in the circuit is more complicated than just either before or after the gain stage. So, as they say, I'd just trust my ears. As for tremolo I think most people put it after gain, but I use before the joyo because it interacts nicely with the gain when set just slightly above edge-of-breakup.

I've got both the UA Ruby and Dream '65 - I've gone back to the Joyo pedals (AC Tone + American Sound) can't say they are a downgrade. The built-in cab sim that supposedly these pedals have is just an EQ curve applied but to call it 'cab sim' is a disservice. To get the most out of these pedals just stick a Cab IR loader at the end. Loving the Flamma FS07 because it is a stereo cab IR loader so I stick the AC Tone into L and the American Sound into R jacks (pick a cab for each channel to match each pedal: Ownhammer IRs) and we have tone for days

I have this pedal, I like recording with it, and have used it for a church gig as a clean preamp direct into a di into the mixer into the pa. Wondering though, if it's really got that cab sim, as I picked up a di with a cab sim, which I used, though it added a lot of hiss, but I'm not so knowledgeable about the various historical cabinets, and the sonic fingerprint they impart? Honestly, I'm happy enough without a cab sim in the mix, my ear doesn't seem to have that expectation, but my concern others will or do have that ear expectation... opinions?

With regard to whether you need the cab sim DI box, if it sounds good to you without it then it should sound good to the audience right?
However it f you are getting his try hitting the ground life switch on the DI it might get rid of the hiss.

@@TheGuitarEffect Ground lift had no effect. The American Sound is the hissiest pedal I own. Then the Fish and Chips, then the Boss CS-3. But the American Sound is the hissiest, especially if I try to get it back up to unity gain.
But the American Sound then into the DI which added to the hiss, THEN the cab sim added even more hiss. My rig is as close as dead quiet as I could hope. No real issues at all (I have had a little digital pedal powersupply noise, but it's not an issue in current incarnation) with noise, absolutely no need for a noise gate. But the American Sound, really does bring the noise, so to speak. I can't tell if it's by design, like trying to emulate a jacked amp? I don't know. I wish I knew the Tech 21 pedal this is a clone of. I'd like to know if that pedal is equally as noisy. Or if in Joyo's cloning they've spec'ed a component poorly, or cut a corner in some way in the circuit that has caused this excessive noise?
      I wonder.
In your vid, the noise is overwhelming as well. I've got some pedals that I consider hi gain, though in this insane music world that we're in now, they would likely be classed as midgain, but even those pedals pretty close to dimed are WAY quieter than the Joyo American sound at timid settings of drive and voice. So, I don't know what it is... I wonder if I could mod it, get some better filter capacitor in there or something to clean the hiss up, or some quieter op amp, or a better bias on the op amp? I just don't know enough about circuit design to really dig in like that, and I'm just too poor to brick out a pedal as important and as useful as the American Sound. And I don't have time for nerding around. Ax time is too valuable to be spending it a with soldering iron in my hand. Even though, I've been spending a lot more time than I'd like, like that. Damn Supro guitars. Well built, but spec'ed out with the damn cheapest components. Didn't even use copper wire in these guitars. Is that the norm nowadays for $1,000+ guitars? If so, I'm leaving the planet. That aluminium wire bullsh!t should be declared by retailers, so we can avoid unworkable gear. I mean these goid foil pickups are sealed, with aluminium wire coming out. Holy cow, I'm just properly ranting now. The frustration is real.
And apologies for my original comment up there. You addressed most of my questions in the vid, I just started the vid, and barfed out all these questions that have been swirling around in my head about this pedal. Apologies, and cheers for the vid.

The American Sound needs to be fairly well cranked just to get back up to unity gain. All of my mid/hi gain pedals are silent, like SILENT at unity. I can't even tell if they're on.
The Tech21 Blonde, the pedal that the American Sound is a clone of, is it really noisy as well? This is so loud I almost think it has to be intentional, like they're trying to create amp hiss? OR, I'm wondering if Joyo or whomever really makes these, if they used a less expensive component or left out a piece of the OG circuit making the American Sound is excessively noisy?
I'd like to know, because I'd mod the pedals in a second, if it's a matter of a component or two that needs to be swapped for a higher quality component. SMT, I don't care, I'll take my chances because I REALLY like the sound of all three of these pedals... Hi folks, trust everyone is well, I have a question on amps that this pedal would benefit the most from possibly solid state/modelling amps?... I have a Catalyst 100 watt home/recording use on lower wattage some jam sessions with buddies in local public halls to get the best out of the full range of the wattage so I would like to ask anyone if they would know if this wee pedal would work well with an amp like the Catalyst 100watt, I have a Boss OD-200 pedal which is great with the catalyst but there's always something that seems to be missing. I'm searching for tube pedal for the clean channel/chime/boutique amp models with compression right at the start if the chain and modulation and delay in the FX loop on the amp. So I like the sound of this and looked on amazon but the only one available was the Oxford one... any thoughts I'd much appreciate constructive criticism, advice, anything would be helpful I like to gather information from both sides of any argument before committing to buy. Ta much folks.

Hey Mike. Fort off thx for the comment. To try and answer your question the first thing I’d say is I don’t really see the need for an amp in a box pedal with a modeling amp. The idea of this pedal is to model various fender amps. If you want to sound like a fender you’d just set the catalyst to clean and set the EQ to taste no?
You mention you generally feel like there is something missing. Can you elaborate?
You also mention you want to get a tube pedal to run in the front of the catalyst. Again it’d help to know what you think is missing that a tube pedal is going to help?
You also mention that you want to put the tube pedal at the front of the chain and you plan on running the catalyst clean if I’m understanding correctly. And then running mod and delay in the loop. Unless you are using amp distortion to a significant degree there is no need to have the hassle with cables of running anything in the loop.

@@TheGuitarEffect I'm always experimenting with pedals to achieve new lush sounds and to improve on existing amp models rather than just sticking with the introduction to the potential of any amp... so there's always something missing in that respect, although the catalyst is a fine amp with some good models in there with less risk of option paralysis happening, still- one good pedal, like that I've never heard of or used myself could bring something new to the table this is in terms of new tones where my focus is aimed at in broadening my grasp on the way amps work plus to find a really good pedal whatever it is, and, it not being an insane price for just a few circuit boards diods resistors and a tin Box well I'm all for that way more so than forking out for major disappointment, I don't subscribe to the nonsense of "if it costs more then it must be better!" @@TheGuitarEffect plus there must some sort of rule of thumb like when achieving different tones with tube amps while recording for the sake of having an optimal bass eq and overall setup for most drive pedals for convenience and less faffing to get a tone set before pushing the tubes, but on a dit state combo/modelling amp they respond differently to boosts and drives, so I'm currently working on finding that sweet spot on all 6 amp models for the catalyst for this reason while recording for ease of switching pedals or stacking etc, and I hope you don't mind I have a habit of picking experienced players minds on these subjects to gather know how to try out thd how and the why instead of just copying a patch where nothings learned and its just relying on someone to do the hard work to get a decent tone when i can ask the how and the why.
Smart ppl ask questions- as my mamma always a told me! Variety is the spice etc but the real genius is when you can make something that appears to be complex seem simple.
Narrowing down what makes what amp behave and perform so well when done right there's has ro be a rule of thumb for each type of pedal to amp in each setting and application to put to use. Tube amps are not always so easy to get that great tone! They often bottom out and fall apart when the basics aren't followed. Noisy too but that's part of the iconic sound, where the catalyst can be noise cancelled by switching of ghe hum and using the gate, same with the OD-200 pedal

      First of all don't laugh!
I've never dabbled with single pedals, always used MFX. Now money is no object so I've tried and tried to upgrade many times but I keep sticking with my first ever unit because I simply cannot find anything that sounds better to me. Line 6, Boss, Digitech, Mooer etc, I've tried them all but nothing comes close, to my .......Zoom G1! Its perfect.
However I have a quirky purple GFX1 that sounds almost as good but with a poor amp sim for clean. I'd really like to use this due to the switching options but it just doesn't compare to the G1 due to the only clean amp sim on it being somewhat harsh and I can't dial it out. Switching it off doesn't help either.

I don’t really think of it like that. I wouldn’t pay €250 for any pedal. No way. Unless it’s a multi effect like an MS3 or a HX effects or something. I wouldn’t pay €100 for the American sound because it doesn’t cost that. At €30 it’s a handy way of getting fender tones from a non fender amp occasionally.
