    I used this pedal directly into the mixer on a New Years gig we had last year. So basically i used: My guitar -> Wah -> DS1 -> Nux CH3 -> DD7 and the JOYO American Sound straight in the mixer. I thought at first that the signal is going to be weak and the tone not thick enough, but the combination of this pedal and the DS1 was so full and creamy I was pleasantly supriced of how everything sounded. I highly recommend this pedal.

      have you tried it with a DI after the joyo american?

    • @Brother93Mali
      @Brother93Mali 5 месяцев назад

      @@TahmidIshrak Considering that the pedal is a DI itself, no. If i have the chance I will try it in the future but I don't see the point of doing so. The pedal is powerful enough by itself and in combination with like TubeScreamer or DS1 it delivers suprisingly thick tone. Ofc if you turn it off then the whole volume level drops which you're not supposed to do with this pedal because you know... Would you turn off your amp in the middle of the gig? :D

      @@Brother93Mali what if i use it before wet pedals and after ds2 or a ts9 for example
      what iim trying to ask is that ive seen many ampless users put their UA 300usd++ amp sims put theirs between wet and dry to kind of get the fx loop type of setup and should it work with the 40usd joyo too?

    • @Brother93Mali
      @Brother93Mali 5 месяцев назад

      @@TahmidIshrak That's applies more for studio setup like you would see in programs like guitarRig or BiasFx. Yes you can do that, but I find it better if I use it at the end of the chain because the efects are more prominent in this case, and what I do sometimes is I put a reverb pedal at the end to act as a glue if the mixer does not have any reverb on it. I think that's personal taste, but yes you can use it like you said too.

    I have two of these and use them as drive pedals quite a lot, the AC Sound and the California Sound, Vox and Mesa Boogie inspired respectively, also have two of their Bantamnp tube heads
    The Atomic, again Vox inspired, and Jackman based on a JCM 900 apparently, usually got some mixture of those four with me, sometimes one of the heads in to a cab the other into the desk using an ABY splitter, usually sending wet effect into the effects loop of the head that's going into the desk
    Love these little things, gave four of my amps away recently cos I just don't use them now, the Fender I kept just sits in a cupboard doing nothing, do have a little 50watt Vox as well but only use that in the house, having too much fun with the little Joyo heads and pedals to be bothered lugging heavy amps around

    Do follow up videos of setting up the Joyo AS/BS for different use cases: home recording to computer (running simple Audacity or Reaper that are popular), small gig with a clean inexpensive amp the player brings (and using the Joyo as the amp and cabinet simulator treating the amp like a PA, perhaps a JC120 or Bandit amp), larger gig with pro PA and hooking in the Joyo with inexpensive DI box without giving the sound board guy fits.

Been using a Helix and comparing to this pedal (and all analog pedals, really) I find that digital has a few high frequencies that are out of balance. I notice this when I bring the volume really high. Helix hurts the ears, the Joyo (or analog) is pleasant.

    I think whats very special and mindblowing for its price with this pedal is it acts like a valve amp well depending on how you dial it a wide variety of fender style amps... But when I say it acts like one I mean I can dial my guitar volume down an get very nice cleans turn it up and get a gritty distortion but where I can still hear all the notes in a chord... But also its touch sensitive depending on how hard I strike a string results in different flavouring.... I've owned a few amp moddellers like Amplifire 12 ...Helix... Headrush touch ... Behringer ... Nux... This pedal for me out does all of them on the realism aspect... Its way better because it feels not only sounds like you are playing through a Valve amp and I am no stranger to them either... Most valve amp sims I have tried aound like it when dialled in but there is no sag ...no feeling half the time dialling down your volume on your guitar just turns down the sound this one it does its job perfectly for me its a keeper I will be looking into the cali sound one next to see if it compares ... As I like mesa boogie ... But great video I just wanted to add this part because when I search amp sims I am looking for how it feels as much as sounds because after all that becomes part of the instrument when you play if it doesn't respond like boxy solid states then whats the point.

    Hi Andrew! I found this very useful, I recently bought a POD GO and I was so disappointed because it doesn't perform anywhere near as well as I hoped it would. I didn't even realise it was possible to obtain awesome amp tones from pedals at such a cheap price like this Joyo pedal. The only issue for me is that I play through a Boss Katana. I wonder if that would be a problem with a pedal like this? I do have the Boss Katana MK II 50 watt which allows you to plug into the power amp. I do that for the POD GO . I'm wondering if I would plug this in power amp section of the boss katana or the input jack?
    Sorry if this is a real newbie question, all of this is quite complicated to me. I love the tones you're achieving here by the way! It sounds very satisfying. It's got that Hendrixian tone I'm particularly fond of as well as quite a few other tones considering it's just one pedal ! It does seem to be really versatile.
    15:08 that Univibe tone is heavenly! nicely played

    • @Nickshreds890
      @Nickshreds890 11 месяцев назад

      By the way, thank you for explaining everything in depth.
      I'm looking at getting a few of these pedals . I like the look and sound of the Tc Electronic Ampworks pedals. I'm thinking of buying the 550 Tc Electronic ampworks for high gain sounds ( i've tried several EVH amps and always loved the high gain sounds! ) and a 65 Combo deluxe for clean tones. They both sound lovely to me. I'm thinking i'll get those pedals and use them into my boss katana and just stop buying things for a while! Have you tried the TC Electronic ampworks pedals?
      What do you think about that? Am I wasting money when I could just use my Boss Katana and play around with the effects and tones it offers? I'm sick of playing in menus and just want to play my guitar. I'm not old I swear haha. I love the feeling of a real amp and it's addictive. I know it's not portable and not as convenient but for me I like to experience a real amp in the room and the tones I already achieve on the boss katana are very pleasing to my ears.
      Anyway, thank you so much in advance. If you do have a chance to reply i'll be very grateful!
      Your playing is brilliant ! :)

    This pedal keeps coming back into my setup no matter how many times I’ve experimented with other things. For my money, the golden settings are the Voice between 9 o’clock and noon, the Drive just right of noon (this is the edge of breakup point with my Telecaster), and the EQ to taste. 9 o’clock on the Voice for Blackface Twin Reverb kind of scoop, 10 thirty-ish for Brownface mids. I don’t find past noon to be useful, because it really doesn’t sound very Tweedy, and beyond 3 o’clock is just ugly nasal mids.

      I'd suggest experimenting with both before and after. I'd say most players place this before delays and reverbs. If you're getting any sort of breakup from the pedal, then before is probably going to be better. If you're running it fairly clean and getting all your grit from other pedals, then it's not going to matter too much.

In regards to running this through headphones, do you have any specific 3.55 mm to quarter inch adapters that are mono that you suggest? • @andrewclarkeguitar
      @andrewclarkeguitar  Год назад

      In many cases the mixer will be at the back of the venue. In smaller venues or at home, you likely won't need one. But for any larger venue you'll need a DI or Line Isolator to convert the signal to XLR and run it over a longer distance.

If I did want to use a DI box (saw another review saying they can tame some of the harsh highs on the AS) then I've got a basic passive one used to use for keyboards. Would that be ok after the AS given that the AS is obviously powered, or would I need an active DI box? Thanks.

But that's fine because I have other overdrive options.
