That looks awesome! Great job! Little tip...cover a bowl with plastic wrap, then put the foam on. When you remove the bowl, your ember pile will be hollow, allowing you to change the lights for different effects, or maintenance. I like 2 strings, one solid, one blinking.
Oh man, this is AWESOME!! I've been using wood and a string that has these simulated "flame" bulbs and it looks okay from a few feet away. BUT THIS!! With this I can also attach a hose to connect to a fog machine! Can't wait! THANK YOU!! PS, if you spray this foam onto Parchment Paper, it will peel RIGHT OFF when it dries.
That is very creative. To make it even more realistic, I'm going to burn parts of the sticks (letting them go out and cool off afterwards, of course) before throwing them onto the foam.
Love the idea and the effect! Making a suspended witches caldron this year with a fog machine and this will make the prefect fire base for it! Thanks so much!
I have actually been trying to figure out how to make something like this for a Halloween prop with skeletons roasting marshmallows. Perfect! Thank you🎃👻
Anyone else realize that the lights give off heat. Keeping that insulated and on top of cardboard is asking for a fire. Please all, be careful especially if your leaving it on a long time or putting it indoors.
thank you once again! you helped me with a parade volcano a few years ago and now i'm building a fake fire for my store's outdoor fire pit! by the way, I won for best float so thank you for that, too!
I was thinking , and not to put it down at all, but if the orange lights had a twinkle to them it would give the fire movement. Love this idea , thanks
This prop is so easy and looks great. My 4 year old was hard to convince she wouldn't burn herself when she touched it. LOL Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet but I love the results!
Thank you so so much this was a great idea and so easy to make this year for Thanksgiving 2019 celebrations on my house I do have a fireplace but didn’t wanna get something dangerous for the little ones and it came up perfect!
Wow! How amazing and oh-so real looking!! Excellent vid. Short, informative, EASY, n couldn't look better. I never would've thought you'd be able to see the lights thru the foam. Great job!
Nice video! 👍 What if you took this build and cut slits through it and made paper fire shapes with a fan underneath it and pushing the paper up through the slits.
Awesome job! I made one of these for our witch's cauldron. I used red LEDs and a leftover piece of that rubber gym floor snap together tile to mount it on, it looks good but I think I went to heavy on the paint because it's not as bright as yours.
I did this cuz it’s awesome and my shit started to smoke haha so Now I got a cool looking fire I don’t use the lights in it tho I just did a better paint job on it so I don’t have to use the lights did anyone else fire smoke
Never thought to do this. My 12 year old son and I decorate our yard for Halloween. He wants to make it where skeletons are walking over the hot coals.
Absolutely ingenious and so clever! I'm not sure what else to say that hasn't already been said. I'm a creative guy and this is the kind of thing that makes me step back and say, "Now why didn't I think of that." Can't wait to try it for myself. Thanks!
Was thinking about taking the orange lights out and putting them into a twinkling strand to give the "fire" a more burning look. When I try it, I'll let you know how it looks!
This was great! And really easy as well. I'm going to try and do this, especially for my Winter Solstice celebration. Just a wild thought, what if you have a cavity on the bottom, then somehow cut slits in the foam. Then hot glue some red, orange, and yellow pieces of fabric cut out in the shape of flames. The last thing you would do is a fix a small fan in cavity. Turn on the fan and the fan air would simulate flames. I just thought of this as I was watching your video. Again, this was great.
this will be great to put inside of your grill and put plastic hands and feet on the grates and open it when kids walk up and offer them hands and feet as they go to the front door.
OH LOLOL THIS IS FANTASTIC !!! omgOMG Thanks so much for the idea!! Hey, does that come off the cardboard? Or should you put the foam down so that it hides the cardboard. It sticks, huh? I'm gonna do that this weekend!! You get an "A" !!
That looks awesome! Great job! Little tip...cover a bowl with plastic wrap, then put the foam on. When you remove the bowl, your ember pile will be hollow, allowing you to change the lights for different effects, or maintenance. I like 2 strings, one solid, one blinking.

Great. I hope it works with green lights. Thinking of using blinking lights for my zombie graveyard. It'll hopefully look like glowing toxic waste!!
works great with green lights We used on top of cheap trash cans to make toxic waste .
or them flickering ones, they use for tea lights would work even beter
That would look amazing! Great idea!
This is a Great Cheap effect...It will be good using any color(S) you have...Green for Toxic waste...Blue for Ice...Red /Orange for Fire
That is very creative. To make it even more realistic, I'm going to burn parts of the sticks (letting them go out and cool off afterwards, of course) before throwing them onto the foam.
You don't even need to actually burn them... Just spray the part of the stick nearest the coals with the black spray paint for a charred look.
Thank you for the awesome idea! I think I might do this same thing but with green lights for a witch's cauldron. subscribed!
great idea! let me know how it turns out!
Hey just saw your post after I wrote mine. How did the green work. Any tips on what not to do?
Omg! That would be awesome too.
I painted with black permanent market the green lights.
I just ordered the stuff to pick up tommorow . Thank you for the idea!🎃
Love the idea and the effect! Making a suspended witches caldron this year with a fog machine and this will make the prefect fire base for it! Thanks so much!
For safety, you should specify
USE LED LIGHTS ONLY. LEDs don't heat up, typical string lights (aka Christmas lights) do.
Shimmering Christmas lights would add a nice effect too
I have actually been trying to figure out how to make something like this for a Halloween prop with skeletons roasting marshmallows. Perfect! Thank you🎃👻
Supper cool! Thanks for sharing.
Anyone else realize that the lights give off heat. Keeping that insulated and on top of cardboard is asking for a fire. Please all, be careful especially if your leaving it on a long time or putting it indoors.
Those are LEDs. No danger in that
Calm yo' Tits Bro...use LED...
Great idea, thank you. I am going to make one.
Holy wow she is beautiful. Awesome fire too.
A most excellent coal fire! Many thanks. I mixed orange lights near the edge and red near the center. I think almost any combination will work.
clever girl im well impressed!
That’s pretty awesome effect!!
I have a little chiminea on my patio. This gave me a great idea to make it look like its lit.
thank you once again! you helped me with a parade volcano a few years ago and now i'm building a fake fire for my store's outdoor fire pit! by the way, I won for best float so thank you for that, too!

That is awesome looking can't wait to try it out with witches cauldron glowing green LED lights under light green foam
I used this idea to make flaming skulls that go along the top of my door. It came out awesome!
I was thinking , and not to put it down at all, but if the orange lights had a twinkle to them it would give the fire movement. Love this idea , thanks
Absolutely! This is just my super simple fire idea. I love that its versatile and can be elaborated on. Thank you for sharing your idea! =)
That would look great at the bottom of a cauldron or in one with a smoke machine going. Cool!
Wonderful! Easy and realistic. Thank you!
this is so simple and the finished effect it freakin awesome. I might also try to add a flame effect o it.
Very cool! Simple, cheap, and effective. Thanks! 👍👏🔥🍻🌷

T Jiron I’m so glad it worked so well for your plans! 😊
I normally set my big plastic cauldron atop a bunch of twigs & a string of orange lights on a timer. This would be lovely underneath
That is really clever Thanks
Wow! How amazing and oh-so real looking!! Excellent vid. Short, informative, EASY, n couldn't look better. I never would've thought you'd be able to see the lights thru the foam. Great job!
You are do smart, I think I'm in love with your brains!😍 but seriously that was genius!
Nicely done
Cool but do the lights get hot and start to burn the foam ?
Not if you use LEDs.
This looks fantastic, I'm going to make a fake chimney for Christmas and with a little more wood this would make a great fireplace fire.
I'm doing the same
This was neat I must try!
Great job!!!! And simple 👍😉
That is so cool.
Great job!
Nice video! 👍
What if you took this build and cut slits through it and made paper fire shapes with a fan underneath it and pushing the paper up through the slits.

This is the best...just make this.
Dude!! You've seriously upped my halloween game! I made lava using this!
I did this cuz it’s awesome and my shit started to smoke haha so Now I got a cool looking fire I don’t use the lights in it tho I just did a better paint job on it so I don’t have to use the lights did anyone else fire smoke
Instead of sticks, you can use a cheap plastic skeleton and break it up and put in the foam.
Yes! Sometimes I throw cheap dollar store body parts on top of it depending on what display I use it in that year.
How awesome!
That was so very sweet loved it way cool
Great job.. Never seen this any one do this.. 😎
Love it! Doing it today!
Made this, tried to save money by using paint from Dollar tree, which took a lot longer than spray paint.
wow super cool
Never thought to do this. My 12 year old son and I decorate our yard for Halloween. He wants to make it where skeletons are walking over the hot coals.
buy a dollar store skeleton and make sun glasses and put him on it like he's getting a fire Tan - lol
Off Topic here FordFalcon: I have a 63 Falcon wagon. LOVE it.
Absolutely ingenious and so clever! I'm not sure what else to say that hasn't already been said. I'm a creative guy and this is the kind of thing that makes me step back and say, "Now why didn't I think of that." Can't wait to try it for myself. Thanks!
Cool
I used flickering lights on mine but after seeing the stick idea I'm changing mine this year.
Great ideas

bbsl1967 Dang, I brought two old grills to the dump. I'm an idiot!
awesome!
Very cool. Great job.
Nice!
is it safe to use the great stuff foam? i have a can of it and all the highly flammable warnings are making me nervous
Rihrrithenirbr

Oh crap how do put on the spray paint.
That is so good.

Looks like larva.
AMAZING!
That was Hot...pun intended!!!👍🔥😊
Really Cool 🔥
This is a great prop, but um, what happens when one of the bulbs burns out?
That looks frick'n cool and you look frick'n hot.
Is it lying on a bright light? You didn’t mention how you used the lights? Are they on top or under? Or is it a bigger light source under it?
