#Batman
To other villain: I do not have to save you.
To Joker: try to save him almost every time.
Batman felt that he made a mistake letting someone die but he learned his lesson since Scarecrow caused so many problems anyway
I’ve viewed it as Batman thinks the Joker needs help and can be “cured”.
In the case of Ra’s his actions to achieve his goals are driven by rational, logical, conscious choices. So it was a “you got yourself into this mess, nothing says I have to pull you out”
Seeing Gordon not only drive the Batmobile (Tumbler, yes, but shush) but cheer like a little kid at blowing something up with it just cheers me up. Gotta love the bond these two have in ANY universe.
In the Beginning,
It was a Training Montage,
In the End, it was a Train Montage.

3:34-3:37 I’m obsessed with this song 🎶 when, villains loses.
The train exit.... Coolest I've seen in a Batman movie!! 😊
Might say he was well trained
with the white eyes too!
While Batman Begins is a pretty solid film, watching this scene now, with it's questionable editing, camera angles and quick cuts really makes you appreciate how far Nolan has come with his big budget directing and story telling. And it shows you that he is the type of director that saw things that didn't work in this film, fixed them, and did far better in The Dark Knight.
Ehh.... Honestly this movie had better action than the dark Knight and certainly better than dark Knight rises. As wonky as it feels sometimes
Which parts have questionable editing? Curious becuase I thought this was a solid scene, although a little frenetic
@w0rmsterr it's the frantic editing, the quick cut between shots, that I find questionable. When you watch TDK or TDKR, he let's the shot go a little longer, he allows them to breath. Even in a frantic scene it allows the tension to build better.
@stevenfrigo4635 That theory works for those in the movie. But questionable editing only works on the uninitiated. 😉
@@christopherjamesboudoirShut up, who are you going to know about editing a film if you are not filmmakers, you are just "folic acid fugitives", intellectual egoists who denigrate the complexity of films and spread their simplicity in a dogmatic way, so, definitely Ignorance is leading them to say stupid things, if they intend to denigrate the quality of Nolan's work with their stupidly pretentious, absurd "arguments" full of ignorance. Nolan is not inept or ignorant like you, he is a genius who doesn't waste his time wandering around the internet all day like all of you.
I mean, that’s manslaughter…batmanslaughter
Not really
@@Kainewall legally yes it is.
Batmanslaughter....batmans laughter...the one thing the Joker truly desires.
@@number1fool Yes if you ever encounter a terrorist trying to poison an entire city by hijacking your train and then disabling the controls ensuring the only way to stop him is destroying the railway you better not do it or else you will be charged with and convicted of manslaughter.
@rustyshackleford8022 self defense
Poisoning the entire city obviously puts you at risk as well. Any competent lawyer would argue this and win.
Batman begins is may favorite movie in the whole Batman universe.
It's an underappreciated, overlooked masterpiece.
Agree, dude.
Agreed, I hate how sexified the late 1990s were.
Mine too. TDK is mid and TDKR is polarizing.

Wasn’t until this moment that Talía could forgive her father for excommunicating Bane

Love the little detail of him breaking the forward window so he'd actually have some wind for when he opens his cape.

Engineers are supposed to calculate safety margins.
Gotta be honest, although it works for this version of the character, in general I’m not a big fan of the quoteI’m not gonna kill you doesn’t mean I have to save you“ Batman rule. Unless there’s no way for Batman to save someone I don’t think Batman should leave someone to die as it kind of is the same as killing them
Womp womp
But to be fair, Batman was never the goody goody hero. Otherwise he’d just be Superman with a better car.
It's a perfect quote really. The real problem was Ghul; although this is supposed to be a more realistic portrayal of the comic book character himself pretty capable of just jumping out of a train. Especially when Batman gave him an opening.
3:38 my favorite song of all time, when villains lose.
Reminds me of a scene from batman beyond. Bruce said to Terry, "whatever was in there died years ago."
"I don't have to save you"
proceeds to save the Joker.
I’m not the biggest fan of this scene cuz Batman does generally feel a compulsive need to save everyone, but here Ra’s was perfectly capable of saving himself and accept his fate.
Saul Goodman approves of this loop hole.
Did Bob Odenkirk act in this movie?
@@felipeacostamunoz6307no it's a joke
The sweetest exit with the Cape, ever.
I just realized it was Batman that destroyed the train console. I always assumed that it was a bad guy move. So when Ra looks up to see the disaster ahead he’s not looking at the destroyed bridge he’s looking at the destroyed console. 🤯
It's horrendously edited so I don't blame you for not being able to tell but if you pause it/frame step it around 1:23 you can clearly see it's Ras's hand stabbing the controls with his shattered sword.
i really hate the old guy in the pump room who has to explain whats going on not once but twice
Ya but they were right on top the main hub which was gonna blow
That actor Is from dozens of cool movies, including Superman 2, Star Wars, Diamonds Are Forever (I think), more than I can relate. I appreciated his cameo immediately.

@@henrytheeightheist8091 Don't forget about The Black Fighter Gets Up. People sleep on it all the time.

The microwave emitter is boiling the water in the sewage system almost instantly, yet it has no effect on any of the people around. Riiiiight.
It's A F###ING MOVIE !!!!
I bet you criticize cartoons also , because animals can't really talk.
yeah so much wrong stuff about this microwave. And all the metal around it would make a lot of sparks.
It's weird to say, but in that moment Ra's was probably actually proud of him.
A way I see this scene Ra killed himself as he destroyed the train’s controls, had he not do that and realized what Batman’s goal was he would have rushed to the controls to stop the train, so he’s reaping what he sewed and Batman is just letting things play out how Ra wanted
Christopher Nolan never got Batman.
"He died saving the city. That's not true, he died saving me. I told him, I'm not worth it. He said, everyone's worth it." Clayface, Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader.
Strange to think, this movie is older now than the original Batman was when it premiered… Another year or two and that will be true of the Dark Knight as well.
Gordon must of had a blast driving the Batmobile lol
0:28 Michael keaton? :-D JK
“I won’t kill you, but I don’t have to save you.”

Crashing this train.. WITH NO SURVIVORS!
¡Esta escena es mi preferida y me encanta gracias!👍😊
As much as I enjoy this film, I still can’t help but think that Batman still probably would’ve saved him. Him catching the Joker in the Dark Knight even though he blew up the love of his life earlier and is unlikely to ever change his ways felt more like a Batman thing to do.
He saved joker cause they wanted to make a sequel with him.
They could kill ra's, cause they didn't have plans for him
Yet unfortunately however we never got a joker sequel, we even lost heath ledger
3:26.
Bruce: I won't kill you. But I don't have to save you.
Me: He technically did. Because he had time to save him but he chose not to. So that's technically killing him.
No. Killing would be fatally, physically attacking him. Which he didn't do.
*Beginning title of this video*: Isn't that the same thing? 😮
Best and popular superhero fight on RUclips!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
How hard was it to call this movie Batman Year One
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Nolan considered it, but went "maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe let's make the title stand out, as much as no one would argue with me using it."
And considering the guy after that made the bold choice to *not use the name Batman* in the movie's sequels, I would happily give him whatever title he wants.
“YES YOU DO, ITS YOUR JOB”
Batman: Could switch of this microvave device with one of his fancy gadhets or just blow it up with a simple grenade.
Also Batman: Nah. Too easy. Better to destroy giant underground railway.
How was Ra's planning to escape, assuming Batman never arrived? He couldn't leave the train, just in case Batman did show up to stop it, but if he stayed aboard the train, he would have certainly died. It seems unlikely that he was planning to sacrifice himself to destroy Gotham, yet he didn't appear to have a means of escape ready, or he would have used it after Batman left.
As badass of a moment this is, this is completely out of character for Batman
like when Ra's got impaled on a gate after falling from a view tower and batman didn't save him because league would throw Ra's into lazarus pit?
@@ryszakowy Batman tried to save him, but Ra’s tried to stab him, so Batman avoided it and Ra’s killed himself.
Ye I appreciate his no kills rule but it is very inconsistent. He kills the ninjas, ras, truck driver in the joker ambush, and the convey driver for bane.
This is why I have been hesitant to watch these movies. As exciting and awesome as this scene is, I feel like destroying the train bridge is a way too far for Batman.
Like not saving Ra's is one thing, but causing collateral damage and possibly killing more innocents is out of character for Bruce.
Yeah he's reckless sometimes, but I don't think he would destroy literal buildings just to take out the bad guy than do it by his hands.
Or maybe I'm just a prententious fuck idk.
@@darth_autismo That was his building they crashed into I think its a fair assumption that he had the building cleared before hand...
This was the wrong line. He should have said. "I would be with you, but despite your original intentions, you have become truly lost"! This would be a perfect connection to their original meeting.
for an electric subway, theres sure alot of flammable and explosive stuff inside.
But ...Then again.... Without me , can you save yourself. Ha ha ha !
When I first saw this movie one thing that always annoyed me was the editing. I really hated it. It reminds me of the Jason Bourne movie fight scenes. Just give yiu a damn headache
Ah, yes. Yet ANOTHER movie with a Murder Batman. ...Huzzah... Letting a man die when you can help is still murder, according to American law.

This loophole and the death penalty, which actually does exist in Gotham City, are two of the other things later Batman installments should have brought into them instead of just the gliding cape and the other stuff
Wait..gotham has the death penalty?
GOTHAM HAS A WHAT!?
So he lets Ras-al-Ghul die but does decide to save the freakin Joker from falling in the next film? Batman’s got some strange priorities
Best movie of the trilogy.....
As clunky as it is, Gotham in BB looks more unique compared to TDK and TDKR
Thinking about it even in the Batman comics Ra's al ghul is one of the few people Batman will not like take out of an exploding building if he knows it's going to blow up holy s***😂
The punisher is more feared.
Because he kills.
The Punisher is a swift death. Batman is a fate of hundreds of broken bones and medical bills out the ass worse than death.
So no, Batman is still more feared. Because you'll WISH he killed you.
@@UltimaKeyMaster The Punisher can be really brutal since it's not always a swift death with him and you don't want to be at the receiving end of a beating from him. Not to mention, no thug or crime boss being safe when The Punisher is around since many has tried to take him down but none have managed and it is just a matter of time of when The Punisher catches up to the rest of them as if death is hovering over them.
People tend to recover from Batman's beatings and they just go back to crime anyway the next day. I swear the thugs fear their boss more than Batman since they will actually kill unlike Batman.
So he basically found a loop hole in his no killing rule.
Liam is my nd favorite Ra's Al Ghul. Matthew Nable from Arrow is my favorite Ra's
YES YOU DO!! IT’S YOUR JOB!!
Scott Tracy....
See Batman kills here, but no one complains about it. So when Batman kills in BVS no one should have cared.
Batman kills in every installment of Dark Knight trilogy, I dont know wtf you talking about 😂
Batman didn’t kill, he just didn’t save them. Big difference compared to what we got in BvS.
@@dr.j1416 There is no difference in fact Bale Batman is much worse where he choose to kill him when he was already defeated.
Hell, _Burton's_ Batman had a higher body count in the first 10 minutes of Returns. But no one bats an eye about that.
I would have preferred he saved his life, this did bug me at the time. Still kinda does.
0:00 oh Tony Stark
I've never understood why all the fuzz about batman killing. Weather it's by action or omission, batman kills from time to time.
03:37 the way batman exits the train is epic
The Dark Knight turned it into a pathetic display of virtue, so most "fans" refer to that.
@@andrewomahony9260 Gonna tap this speech from Under The Red Hood.
Batman: It'd be TOO DAMNED EASY. All I've ever wanted to do was kill him (Joker). A day doesn't go by where I don't think about subjecting him to every horrendous torture he dealt out to others. And then...end him.
Joker: Aww, so you DO think about me.
Batman: But if I do that...if I allow myself to go down into that place... *I'll never come back.*
That last part. That's why. It's not justice. It's not morality. It's that if Bruce lets himself snap, everyone will suffer. EVERYONE. If Batman becomes an executioner, he will unleash a reign of terror so horrific from just one little push off that slippery slope. Today's Joker becomes tomorrow's homeless guy scraping by on petty theft to the next day's complete innocent his own mind says is guilty.
Plus...you do not want the guy who has contingency plans for everything on the planet to decide who lives or dies on a whim. You be glad he holds back or whatever skeletons are in your closet will be an excuse one day for him to use.
Character assassination. Batman is a flawed man. He would still try to save Ra's even if it doesn't make sense.
You finally learned to do what is necessary.... My favorite line in the whole movie.
Low key survivable
3:27 3:32 3:36
.
That train passed a lot of people that were made of... water. Like 90% of their mass is water. How did they, as well and Batman and Ras Al Guhl, survive? I like most things about this movie, but the plot was definitely not 1 of them.
That’s…. Not how that works……like at all
so Ra's jumped into lazarus pit
big whoop
Lets be real Batman killed his ass lmao
Lol Bruce Wayne saved you Ras. But Batman just ran a train on you!!
Batman não mata, deixa o cara morrer
What did Rassay to Bats when he entered the train??? I can't even hear him
You will Never Learn
Surely the emitter had an off switch? Batman could have turned it off and then licked the switch. Ra's couldnt switch it back on for fear of being mocked for touching his saliva.
Mission complete?
How does he break the train in half before escaping? It’s the one scene in the trilogy that makes no sense to me
He threw his explosives at the rear of the train. You have to look closely but it's there
Only time in TDK trilogy we see Batman using the grapple, and did not work out well, hence we don’t see it again, correct me if I am wrong.
He used it earlier to lift up himself and Falcone, Flass when he was interrogating him hanging upside down, himself and Gordon, to lift himself after he was poisoned by Scarecrow, to save the Joker in The Dark Knight. Those are the times that come to mind where it did work as intended
@@Anders_Lund you are right! And I forgot that he also used it to catch the joker from falling to his death.

Tbh i would have really preferred batman to try to save Raz, and instead its his choice to die, he would rather die than live with the shame of failure
Exactly. I always envisioned Batman to save the villain regardless. Lord knows how many times Batman has saved The Joker from death in the comics. This scene where he just lets Raz die on the train, just feels so out of character and wrong to me.
