This sweet and sour fishsauce is real easy and especially fast to make. It literally only takes minutes to make. You can use this for eggrolls, banh chiao, vermincelli noodles & the list goes on! You see me using this sauce in a couple of my videos. Since its so common I decided to make it, its own dedicated video.

I would love to stay with your mom a few weeks and try out all her food. I could never make it like she is.
Lol! I meant to say I love cambodian food!!
My mom uses pure cane sugar and distilled white vinegar. I'm not familiar with organic crystal sugar. If its sweetness that is lacking, maybe you'll have to use more sugar? I'm not sure since I'm not familiar with the sugar your using.
Use lime juice instead vinegar and add chopped garlic, small red chili, crust roast peanut
I don't understand at 0:51.. It looks like the sugar have some water in it. Did she cook the sugar with some water?
Mines did not come out right. Is it because I use the squid brand?
Love the videos! Thanks much!

I made the sugar 3 because I keep burning it.but on the third times it was perfect.
How long do you boil it for?
Oh ok thanks for video and the answer
what kind fish sauce did you use it?
Hi. My friends mom made this dipping sauce that is really good with cucumber. Can't remember the name but it's color red like paste. Kinda spicy and sweet. Trying to find out what it is.
hm, could you be talking about prahok ktis?
I agree I think you might be thinking about Prahok ktis (with ground pork in it maybe)
Did you put oil in the pot? Looked like something moist was in there.
I tried to make this sauce following this video to the T but the sauce did not come out right. I used organic crystal sugar and distilled white vinegar. After seeing how my mom make her version of this sauce, she used granulated sugar and rice vinegar. Just curious if your mom uses rice vinegar in this video and if there is a way to substituting the granulated sugar with organic sugar instead and how much I would need to add to compensate for the lack of sweetness.
your not to use that sugar
Love that I understand this lol
what liquid did she add to the sugar before she took to stove?? and what was in the small white plate that looked like it was empty?? we need better translator for mom these steps and details are important ..sauce looks so good want to get it right as I am going to make her steamed/baked chicken and rice tomorrow
Just a little bit of water in the pot when she added the sugar in. Nothing was in the small white plate. 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of fish sauce, 3 cups of water. That's all, it's not hard... Don't forget to turn on the stove.
Moms Cambodian Recipes and one c vinegar! (you say it, but not here), also shreds of carrots and chili flakes for color? or maybe that is Vietnamese
What is the measurement for each ingredient?
Could you add it to a seafood stirfry as the main sauce ?
I wouldn't.
Can I use lime or lemon?
Never tried it with lime or lemon. I don't think it'll work well.
I think lime taste better
Lime and lemon is hiw vietnamese makes their fish sauce
Can I please have the written recipe?
Lol. How did it come out?
what part of the country is your mom from? banteay mean chey?
xD at the first time i made doeg trey i put the vinegar first after the caramellted sugar xD ....
No oil.
It must have felt like when my nose hairs were gone xD
Doeg trey was good , my mom puts some garlic in to the Doeg trey
I feel stupid for not knowing how to make this and I'm Khmer. That's what happens when you don't ask.
Why do all khmer mom look a like lol
I don't think your mother thinks you know what you are doing. And she might be right. Just kidding.
