A lot of people say it's sweet, but I don't taste it sweet. I wonder if it's a different kind 🤔.

That's the sour kind she used. Verrrry sour! Your teeth would edge, your jaw would temporarily lock & your mouth would spring water if you consume it as is. Which was fun for us as children but as adults, nooooo! 😂😂

Shirani, the kind that grows in the Caribbean is the sour kind. We only get the sweet kind at the supermarket, usually the Chinese -owned supermarkets so we even grew up referring to it as Chinese tambran. 😂😂😂 T&T here! 💕😊

@nuffwahalatrypeacetrini9ja414 We also get a sweet one in Belize, but it is shaped differently. Good to know, I'll look for it at the Chinese store 🤗💕

If you're out for adventure. The tamarind usually falls to the ground though.

What I meant was, they usually fall to the ground on their own or you can shake the branches to get them down. Climbing to get them is optional. 😊

Tamarind is HIGH naturally in SUGAR and honestly shouldn’t be consumed by those with diabetes, and by adding MORE SUGAR to it to make a drink is not good! It’s also high in Carbohydrates, which turns to SUGAR if not burnt off by exercise.
