  • Southern Pepper Sauce or Pepper Vinegar? You pick the name. Regardless of which you choose it is just tasty and easy to make. I go over three different ways I have made it in the past depending on what I had on hand at the time. I had 3 pepper plants that I thought were all Shishito pepper that I threw into one big pot. Turns out one was a Tabasco which started the smallest and sickly and ended us taking over the pot and 2 completely non spicy mini bell pepper plants that never got bigger than 18” but gives me non stop tiny mini bell peppers that one out of 20 are hotter than a Tabasco pepper. I wonder if the roots are entangled 😂. I’m gonna make this with these peppers coming in now

Hi what is the shelf life for this? My mom used forever and since she passed I just forgot to ask how long it is good for. The one thing that produced like crazy this year in my little garden pots is the chili peppers

I only replace the peppers when they start to fall apart. Usually 6 to 9 months. but constantly replacing the vinegar when emptied

I thought you had to heat the vinegar

I love how different areas call things differently. I am always amazed still when I bring my bottle out to use and get asked what is that.

Hi....what is the shelf life on these? Do you keep in refrigerator or just on the shelf? Do you add vinegar as you use it to keep peppers covered? Thanks

Hello, I do not know the shelf life on these. The ones on the video was made just before Thanksgiving 2022. With my wife only making her greens 4 or 5 times a year it is not used that often. Between uses I do top it off with vinegar to make sure the peppers are covered and just leave it on the pantry shelf. For me they last more than a year with my use and I only make a new one when the peppers start to break down. You can tell by the sediment that starts to appear on the bottom of the container. Now if I was using it more often then I would replace it sooner. Hope that helps. Thanks, Ralph

I no longer add raw garlic cloves, seen em start to bubble so now I smash em up. Guess you could can them also.

Can they be fresh peepers and not dried?

Yes, they can be anything you want. that is the simplicity of the recipe.
