It seems like quite a few people want us to be upset with the couple who sold us the van. Sure, we would rather not have to deal with these issues, but we are grateful that we didn’t have to build it from scratch ourselves, and we are still happy with our purchase. The people who sold us the van told us they have been getting angry messages. This is completely unnecessary. Please feel free to express your opinions here in the comments...We appreciate you watching out for us, but we ask that you please do not contact the original owners on our behalf.
Oh no! That's awful. I'm sure they didn't mean to sell you a van with all of these issues. Everyone be nice! The world needs kindness more than ever right now!
It's expected that almost anything you acquire used will have issues. Surprised to hear people contacted the owners with angry messages! It shows your viewers really care about you two!
I don't know why people are so upset at the old owners? They built everything themselves and had no malicous intent towards Kara & Nate when selling it. Sure, they should have checked everything out before selling it, but same goes for K&N after buying it. There is no need to put blame on someone all the time. Kara and Nate are safe now and that's all that matters
The van was safe for what the original owners needed it for. Nate added the extras after purchase and that added load to the wiring. Nate did the best he could with it and probably did better than most of the critics could have done themselves. I see absolutely no problems with how this all worked out and it's actually quite natural to go thru this process. Nobody's hurt and things are done the way they should be. And it makes for a great story!
Kara and Nate were foolish for not having it inspected before purchase AND for assuming Nate was handy enough to take on these projects. He is not. And I feel terrible that they've posted so many vlogs on the van NATEmares making the old owners look bad.
I still can’t believe Nate just randomly said “I wanna run a half marathon,” and then just did it. Took me 10 weeks to train and I still did it 1 min per mile slower
Watching all the vanlifers build vans has made me think they are really handy and efficient at building and then you show us how fast and efficient a real professional is and I’m like 😳 haha
I get humbled/ashamed whenever my brother in law comes over to "help" me fix an issue with my house on occasion. Granted this is only after i have tried and spent way too much time and $ trying to tackle it myself. He is like the Al Borland to my Tim Taylor. I often have failed in my diagnosis and am trying to fix something that wasnt broken to begin with or that i have gotten into the correct processes only to be stymied at a stopping point that i can in no way make progress or even put it back like it was before i touched it...iften due to breaking some vital yet extremely fragile plastic tiny piece that is irreplaceable lol. I love him and value his attitude while he quickly and calmly fixes tge issue ive been dealing with for a month in less than 15 minutes without get dirty at all. That learning curve is so very steep on the 1st journey sadly. I also fully believe that some people are just inclined/skilled/gifted at certain areas of life skills and lacking in others and he and i just happen to have strengths at opposite ends of the spectrum.
I feel so much happier that your van is now safe; I was getting worried. Kara, I recommend getting some rubber gloves for all those cleaning tasks but especially the toilet.
I love the editing when the professionals were talking about all the technical stuff 😂 Tbh that's what I hear when my husband tells me about cars and stuff, too.
Kara, your masterpiece work of editing the bike adventure created a more compelling and enjoyable work of art than I could have expected from an entire team.
Dan and John are so cute. I love how they're very nicely explaining how messed up everything was without being condescending. This was an awesome video. It's nice do know that there are specialist places like this.
I had the most fun watching this vlog. The most I laughed was at the propane testing section. "With fire?" "Nah, with soap and water!" OMG that had me rolling. Really glad you guys were able to get it all done properly by professionals and that you are both safe. Enjoy that heater, hot water, signal extender, etc etc. Safe travel guys!!! Enjoy the West coast once you leave Boise. Oregon and Washington are gorgeous. If time permits, check out Multnomah falls alongside the Columbia River Gorge. Y'all with love it!!! Take care
Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't you guys go through the van and mess with a lot of the electricals when you bought the van? Not sure why people are getting so mad at the previous owners. They are not 100% to blame.
So happy that Kara finally managed to see her sister - I am sure you must have missed each other so much! ❤️ And all that wiring does look really complicated - anyone else struggled to follow when the professionals were explaining how everything is connected to each other? Glad that you guys are safe and managed to get these issues sorted out, and I hope that this vlog will encourage all other vanlifers out there seek out the help of qualified professionals when dealing with these kind of problems (unless of course they have relevant experience themselves).
The mom in me was about to freak out about all the safety issues that were wrong with the van. Thank God you guys have stayed safe and it’s all fixed now.
OMG that is terrifying! So glad you fixed it before anything bad happened! The electrical and propane stuff scares me so much with our van build. I appreciate the tips you all shared in this video to keep us safe, too! We almost bought a used van, but after watching all of the issues you all have had with your van, we are so grateful we opted to do the build ourselves. Regardless, your van is beautiful and we are so glad to see you're getting the major issues fixed!
I can only imagine how your world got flipped SO upside down from traveling the world with whatever was on your backs to becoming essentially "home" owners and dealing with annoying issues that come with it. I give you guys so much credit for doing what you guys needed to do to continue your channel and traveling adventures even if that meant within the US. There really is SO much to do and see from coast to coast, and I hope you guys really get to see it all!
Wow. Can't believe people would be mean enough to complain to the former owners of the van. Loved your adventures in today's video. Your positive attitudes through struggle are such an encouragement to me. Keep loving life! God bless you with many more adventures. I am pretty sure He will because you seem to be doing what God has called you to do.
Hey guys ! If you love this Chanel as much as me PLS remember to watch the ads it’s literally only a few seconds and supports them ! I love the everyday day vlogs also on how real and raw they are ! It’s beautiful fall in Wisconsin also ! ❤️
There is something so lovely about how you bumble through new experiences in van life with such humility and share even your oops and bloops. Allows us all to believe we can learn from our mistakes if we set aside the fear of making them in the first place and just choose the next adventure!
Love the fact that you guys enjoy evey adventure and make the best of any bad situation 😍. Thank you guys and Thank you Kara for the hard work on the long blogvideos 🥰
This confirms again what I keep telling everyone interested in a conversion: invest in professional help to do the dangerous work! AT LEAST have a licenced electrician look over your plans. Hiring certified professionals to do your heater installation, plumbing and electrical is the logical thing to do for so many reasons: your life might depend on it! Many guarantee their work, and will think of details you might not see in RUclips tutorials, like separating your water and electrical systems, using the right kind of wiring and piping to maximize the efficiency of your equipment... It makes sense financially as well: think about how much your time is worth. As Nate mentions, experts will only take a day or less to do the work and do it right, whilst most of us will probably need several days to figure it out and hope it holds. How much money would you make working during that time instead? Even if you’re building on a budget, hiring a professional will save you more costs down the line and make the most out of your investment. It will help boost the resale value, and another big argument is that it usually saves you even more money in insuring your build! Showing the sensitive systems were installed by licenced professionals can help you get your rig insured as an RV, which means good premiums but also, everything in it and all your work and expenses are covered in the rig, not just the vehicle itself. 🤔🤗🚐🙏
FYI I'm a licensed electrician & this is exactly why I just started documenting my build. Someone is DESPERATELY needed in this space to teach & keep people safe.
You know i watched a lot of van life video. And most people always romanticized the van living, so watching Kara and Nate struggles with the van really does shows the reality of van life. I am always in awe of the diy van that most van life community shows on youtube, but seeing this really puts things on an different perspective. This is reality check for me who always dreams of having my own campervan one day. Note to self : always hire professional help for the technical stuff. Yes it’s more expensive but in the long run it’ll be worth it
So glad you guys got the work done professionally. 🙂 It must feel much safer now. Enjoying the videos. ❤️ And Nate, please don’t run another half marathon without hydration again. 😂 The feeling in your legs was due more to dehydration than running that distance. Totally preventable.
Hey guys, I'm watching your videos for a couple of months now. You found such a great alternative to travel, while around the world isnt easy in that days. And I love it how you find out new things about your van every single day. Your posting realistic videos and nothing fake what I like! King regards from Germany! 😊😊
I know nothing about electrical. Seeing your can get fixed to how it should be made my heart so happy. There is nothing like having your vehicle function properly with the electrical. We had ours professionally done. We will always consult with a professional if we run into any problems in the future or want to upgrade our system to run off batteries entirely. So you hiring professionals was spot on!! I’ve got all the feels watching you guys turn into real Van folk. Loving it!
In the last two weeks I've watched 97 of your videos (over 19 hours worth) and just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make them. I've learned quite a bit and enjoyed watching you two enjoy your travels. Keep up the good work and best of luck in your current and future life chapters.
My Mom turned us on to your channel ( forever grateful)... we are re- living our travel days through you and having so much fun!!!! We didn’t go to as many countries but have some awesome stories to tell our kids one day- Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Peru, Bahamas, Bali, Hong Kong, Singapore, Spain, France, Ukraine ( where we adopted our boys), Denmark, and Canada.
Such a considerate couple of each other, so sweet Nate always making Kara a morning coffee❣️💖 love how they support one other constantly, couple goals, definitely warms my heart 💓
Loved the biking videos and I'm eager to check the new changes to the van. Just watched the aftermath of the bike trip video. And as soon as it ended this video got posted and so here I am.
glad you are safe and that they discovered the issues. It's a great reminder that when you buy anything like a car, van, or house it's good to have an inspection done.
I told you a month ago you needed a ventilation wherever the propane tank was... Thank God you have fixed it!!! I will sleep better tonight. I am really glad you have everything fixed and working property.
You two are unbelievable, it's so inspiring I'm running out of words. Nate making me laugh because I know NOTHING about electrics and vans. He knows far more than me! And a marathon, are you serious?! NATE YOU MACHINE! Don't tell Rick, he'll find a Colorado Trail-like marathon to run with you and Dusty!
You guys are struggling so hard, my poor babies! But you're handling it and I'm so proud of you! Also y'all's smiles when you got hot water really made my whole day :)
First impressions of the title of the new vlog: oh no what’s Nate trying to fix?? 😱 electric ⚡️ or gas 💨 🤕💥but the part of the composting cleaning had me lmao 😂. It like watching a train wreck...you can’t look away. Thank god you guys got professional to help fix your van. Now LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN
I like how you get the real experience. Van life is not easy nor can you just simply build one on your own. I think its a good thing they got it checked out. Thankful that it has allowed people to live in it with no accidents...I think its pretty lucky. Glad its going to be in good condition afterwards and then if you decide to sell it later on down the road you have a good conscious. I think this is a pretty great video to show this. Many people craft their own without professional help. This really shows why there are professionals! I think its a good thing to err on side of caution always. Happy that no one is hurt and more van life will be in the future!
I'm so happy you got professionals, and I think you made some new friends. They are not going to forget you with that electrical system. And I think you have hot water because the heating system actually is getting enough power to heat.
Nate & kara bought the van from a diy couple that did the best to thier knowledge in building that van.You buy a used vehicule AS IS. Theres no warranty on used vehicules. Leave those previous owners alone for god sake !!
Never been so early! Good time to say how much I love your video’s, they are always so fun to watch :) (No matter if we can watch you traveling around the world or the awesome van adventures)
Those guys certainly know their stuff. Wow! Their attention to detail is incredible. It's a good thing that you travelled in that direction to start your travels off.
After 3 months of watching all your videos from the beginning, I was 21 mins into your 100th country video when this vlog was uploaded. I was just crying watching that video, so proud of both of you!!!
Leave the original van owners alone! Besides, you clearly don't remember Nate's testing out his electrical skills... or propane skills... or--you know what? I am just happy they got the professional help they needed to fix everything! Nate and Kara are just brave enough to document all the crazy DIYs we do OFF camera!
Thank goodness for the boys in Colorado! Buy them a craft beer keg! Not everyone who builds race cars builds them like Hendrick or Penske! From the beginning when I shot you a suggestion that you watch National Indoor RV channel on RV tips.... you have learned so much and can still learn more from those that have the experience of millions on miles on the road! Once again great job boys for fixing the electrical issues! Nothing worse than catching on fire while on the ROAD! Be safe and keep the dirty side down! LOL!
Still obsessed with your content! Your videos have definitely encouraged me to be more positive and get out and enjoy the simple things. Just saying thanks 🤗
Your video flying from Calgary - San Francisco - Singapore just popped up in my feed - long flights, busy airports, airline lounges. I miss the excitement of travel to strange and new places. I know it’s bad (CO2 etc) but I cant wait to get on a big plane again.
Here after watching you run 100miles on your way to the north pole! I loved also watching you run the half marathon with the donkey, and the wife carrying challenge, and don't forget the swim from Alcatraz. Never stop challenging yourselves!! You are both so strong! So bright! And so INSPIRING! Much love! ❤️❤️
Kara is such a beautiful happy soul! I feel so relaxed listening to her easy going attitude. When I’m wound up tight over stupid stuff I need to channel that type of energy, you have an awesome gal there Nate!
I've become convinced you guys bought a van that was a disaster waiting to happen just to increase the challenge rating of the trip 😁😂🤣 Love Kara's look of absolute joy when hot water finally flowed forth from the faucet 😊 You guys rock!
I’ve been following this channel for over a year now, and I just randomly checked the subscriber count. Dang I swear it was like 200,000 yesterday now it’s 1.8m. dang
Aww Crystal Mill is one of my favorite places on earth! The lady that lives up in town was so sweet and told us the whole history of the town and the mill!
Excellent decision in getting professionals for the installs/upgrades. Some things are worth the cost to save you the massive amount of time it would take to do it yourself (speaking from experience with diy home renovations), and to not worry about the safety possibilities. Also, laughed so hard at Kara's "I want to smell it!" And the throwback clip to the fireball. Nate's face gets me every time
I love it when you just upload raw vlog of your normal day or reality of van life in between your amazing adventure videos. It so fan to watch the not-even-close-to-correct fixing stuff Nate does 😆
Thank you to John & Dan of Colorado Custom Camper for keeping Kara Warm & safe from Nate’s guesses on how to fix things. Sending you all prayers of safety , happiness and good health
I'm so sorry that you guys bought this van off people who clearly didn't know what they were doing and put you at Great Danger. And I don't blame you guys because you buy something somebody has reno'd and you would expect that they know what they're doing and you were prepared to be on a Learning curve with your new van instead you got a slapped together lemon. I didn't see all your travelling around the world videos but I saw quite a few and to be honest I think I like these ones better or where you're travelling around in the van and having major accomplishments and overcoming problems. Thanks for all the hard work. Your videos are very entertaining. Lots of love from Canada.❤
Yeah and he's the one who caused not only the safety issues with the stove but also installed the top cable cover that was the only one that was in danger of causing a fire. But as usual, he managed to blame it all on other people instead of taking responsibility. Same thing happened when he forced Kara to do the glacier hike, he blamed the weather for turning on them even though it had been thunderstorming since they woke up, and the guide for giving them 'outdated information' even though it was their responsibility to research the trail.
@@randyward2766 Yeah I mean make one mistake fine but they're driving around with broken water pipes yet again because they are too cheap to go to a plumber to weather-proof their plumbing...
Sooooo glad the safety issues were addressed. When you were first working on the fuse box I thought, Wow, fuses have come a long way from when I knew anything about them. Look how much they are holding! Now I'm like, guess I can still recognize when something doesn't look quite right. I'm like you. I know just enough to be dangerous.
I’m so very glad y’all finally got professionals to inspect and correct your electrical and gas systems. I honestly believe it’s only prayers that have keep you both from a horrible end.
Whoa! You guys are so lucky you caught that!! Thank God! Keep up the great work - and we still can't believe he ran a 1/2 marathon just like that! Wow.
Kara..your editing is amazing. You capture emotion like...on point. The back and forth on the electric probs...with the dizzy movement...was like...yep totally how I felt. You are amazing!!!! You bring fixing the van so interesting!!! Thank you for your work Kara. Nice job Nate on the 1/2 marathon.
Nate never ran.a half marathon and he did it in 2 hours! WOW!!! You both continuously inspire! Also, you guys are ALWAYS grateful for everything. That keeps us (me & and my daughter) watching!!! Big Love to you!

Agree. Both sides should've triple checked everything.
Do not forget Nate did some "fixes" on the electrical part just by watching youtube videos xD

You know that picture turned into a meme in their shop.... 😂
Really really bad 😂🤦🏼♀️ Like holy 🐄 what a death trap!
Right lol. Sharing that around the electrical community
Probably going on reddit

I can't believe with he did it either, but then again he did complete the Colorado trail.
And he didn't do anything special before they did Everest Base Camp either. I think he's a natural fitness guy (or how you say it in English)....
always the next big thing with him lol
He did just do a 2 week long biketrip with more than 10h days, so I think he got in pretty good shape.
Y’all do bring up a good point about the CT
I'm just here for Nate's crazy adventures with electricity. 😂😂😂

Kara and Nate That was a cute edit without being disrespectful. Very creative with time lapse of sunset.
that was pretty funny, it was like Charlie Brown 😂
Totally agree on the editing of the tech stuff. That was brilliant! I was clapping out loud! Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! And super funny!

So you hiring professionals was spot on!! I’ve got all the feels watching you guys turn into real Van folk. Loving it!
Excellent edits Kara, while the faults are all being explained lol, very funny
😂👍🏻
@@KaraandNate I can imagine the same idea or effect being used when a chikd or teen is getting instructions or rules from a parent! 😂😂
In the last two weeks I've watched 97 of your videos (over 19 hours worth) and just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make them. I've learned quite a bit and enjoyed watching you two enjoy your travels. Keep up the good work and best of luck in your current and future life chapters.
This was my favorite episode is a long time and that saying allot. I love them all, so glad you guys are documenting the friends and family stuff🙏🏽🌸🍁🍁
Maybe Kara and Nate should win the van so there aren’t any more problems with it
omg hahaha
hi
petition for kara and nate to join omaze's giveaway
Epic 😂😂😂
Kind of depends on who building the Omaze van...... Hopefully not the same people/company.
It's a great reminder that when you buy anything like a car, van, or house it's good to have an inspection done.
you guys seem like the most genuine people, I look up to you guys so much, hope I can find this type of happiness!
If ANYONE can do a half marathon, it’s NATE (Kara, too!). The truth is you have what it takes to be competitive! Sign up for a race!
he's a dang machine lol. I bet Kara could do it as well!
These guys are heroes, they may have saved your lives. They are so competent.
Ahhhh waking up to a new Kara and Nate video is the best way to start my Sunday 😊😊
Those guys certainly know their stuff. Wow! Their attention to detail is incredible. It's a good thing that you travelled in that direction to start your travels off.
Nate putting the cup of coffee next to Kara while she was still sleeping gave me so much anxiety! Hahaha
Love your vlogs
After 3 months of watching all your videos from the beginning, I was 21 mins into your 100th country video when this vlog was uploaded. I was just crying watching that video, so proud of both of you!!!
Leave the original van owners alone! Besides, you clearly don't remember Nate's testing out his electrical skills... or propane skills... or--you know what? I am just happy they got the professional help they needed to fix everything! Nate and Kara are just brave enough to document all the crazy DIYs we do OFF camera!
Becky in the Bubble cosmetic repairs...ok. But wires should be done by electricians.
@@ameliasr3404 I agree! I don't even trust myself to dye my own hair! People are certified to do things for a reason!
Thank goodness for the boys in Colorado! Buy them a craft beer keg! Not everyone who builds race cars builds them like Hendrick or Penske! From the beginning when
I shot you a suggestion that you watch National Indoor RV channel on RV tips.... you have learned so much and can still learn more from those that have the experience
of millions on miles on the road!
I've been watching their older vlogs because I'm missing long journeys as well!
These guys are SO professional. They did amazing work, glad you guys got it sorted stay safe.
Much love! ❤️❤️
Sunday mornings are complete with Kara & Nate and coffee!! 💕
hi
Kara is such a beautiful happy soul! I feel so relaxed listening to her easy going attitude. When I’m wound up tight over stupid stuff I need to channel that type of energy, you have an awesome gal there Nate!
You guys just can't get a break with this van. Glad everything is fixed though. Love your videos😀
And now I know I will never attempt to build out a van. 😔
I am LOVING these longer videos. Obviously you cant always do hour-long episodes but I do enjoy the longer than usual videos!!!
Kara..."Dan's a magician", no he is an electrician! ⚡
Eugene C absolutely
Same thing. I'm an electrician too. 😂😎👍
Thank you to you both for bringing such joy to 2020! Your positivity and sense of adventure is so so wonderful to watch at home!
I've become convinced you guys bought a van that was a disaster waiting to happen just to increase the challenge rating of the trip 😁😂🤣 Love Kara's look of absolute joy when hot water finally flowed forth from the faucet 😊 You guys rock!
Happy to see your van is now a LOT safer... ☺
(and warmer)
Now the off grid adventures can continue... ♥
I’ve been following this channel for over a year now, and I just randomly checked the subscriber count. Dang I swear it was like 200,000 yesterday now it’s 1.8m. dang
I’m so relived your van is actually in SAFE working order! How fun for you all to just enjoy it now!
The title for this should’ve been “Pimp Our Van” 😂😂😂 so excited to see the next journey!!!
Aww Crystal Mill is one of my favorite places on earth! The lady that lives up in town was so sweet and told us the whole history of the town and the mill!
Nate: Test it with FIRE!?!?
Electrician: no soap
Nate: oh
Classic!!
Nate's face gets me every time
At least Nate isn't risking his life again! Although him trying to fix things was funny.
It was funny and scary at the same time 🤣
I freaked out when he used fire to find propane leaks... lol.. So glad he was not hurt in that process.
I think he's learned his lesson haha
For as much as I loved your worldwide travel adventures, I have to admit I'm absolutely living for your van adventures. They're so good.
“We haven’t showered in a week.. Should we take one?”
Yes... I would say yes... I don’t think there would be any objections... XD
why is that even a question 😂
💯😂😂😂
@Amit Kumar omg wow calm down 😂
I love it when you just upload raw vlog of your normal day or reality of van life in between your amazing adventure videos.
We were all playing around before but I think it is confirmed that Nate is lucky to have survived this van for this long. #sleepingonafirehazard
@@ania5038 I mean, I think they stated that it was a bad idea. Made a mistake. No worries.
I'm on team Kara - heat is good. 🔥 My other half is on Team Nate - always wants the house colder! 🥶
I’m so very glad y’all finally got professionals to inspect and correct your electrical and gas systems. I honestly believe it’s only prayers that have keep you both from a horrible end.
Have you guys ever considered going on the Amazing Race??? I feel like you guys would do great!
Whoa! You guys are so lucky you caught that!! Thank God! Keep up the great work - and we still can't believe he ran a 1/2 marathon just like that! Wow.
we’re just starting to build out our van, u 2 have us convinced on a heater!
The bike series was amazingly edited! So enjoyable. Thank you Kara.
Nate never ran.a half marathon and he did it in 2 hours! WOW!!! You both continuously inspire! Also, you guys are ALWAYS grateful for everything. That keeps us (me & and my daughter) watching!!! Big Love to you!
I can’t get over Nate just casually and randomly deciding to run half a marathon 😂
