Just back from Seattle. I can see why the city has created some of of the most amazing bands we have listened to Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, and of course Queensryche! Gritty, industrial, and yet with a beautiful soul. Seattle is awesome.
Stumbled across this by accident and man, this song instantly took me back to another place and time! One of the best songs not just of its time but ever! Geoff Tate’s voice personified the music of this era

Man, this is one of the greatest pieces of music I have ever heard. All these years later and it still brings goosebumps to my skin when he belts out that iconic chorus. Band sounds real tight in this performance as well.
We were truly fucking spoiled rotten for quality rock and metal in the 90’s. Blessed even. The amount of times I remember listening to Rage, Operation and Empire stoned with friends and smiling in my happy place, I couldn’t even begin to tell ya. Good times. Blue skies indeed.

I have a buddy who was a guitar tech for Degarmo for many years,he said that mid tour through Empire, is when it really began to show. Cash was rolling in and business was NOT any of the bands strongsuit. Shame,they were unreal.

I was lucky to see them in 2005 opening for Judas Priest (4/5 of the original line-up - Mike Stone on guitar) and I was just riveted how good they sounded live. Saw them again in 2007 (?) performing Mindcrime I & II... and again in 2009 (Parker Lundgren on guitar) But I have to say that the current Queensryche w/ Todd LaTorre was just as potent live.
THESE are MUSICIANS! Every single one of these guys are accomplished talents at their instruments, and a TON OF CHARISMA is just icing on the cake! They are truly missed in this sewer of so-called "Rock-Stars" that we're stuck with today... God bless and take care...

They were one of the greatest bands in the world until they came out with Empire. After that album was released every radio station in the country ran the album and the band into the ground. I have seen countless concerts in my life but I never went to go see Queensryche because that album killed them for me. Warning, rage for order, operation mindcrime are all masterpieces and Empire was a good album too but all the radio stations over played it and wore me out for Queensryche

I listened to Queensryche many years ago. I too stumbled across this video and WOW!... I forgot how great they were. So glad for RUclips and other sources to capture footage like this because it gives our older favorites a chance to stay in the game or get back in it, and to show all the young fans and new bands how the "BIG BOYS" do it. Without it, half these bands would be just a distant memory or even fogotten about.
I've always been to poor to see them live but have always loved Geof Tate. What a voice. No person I know can sing as well as him. Too bad his areiginal band can't see what an icon he is.

There's a lot of singers that come near to how they sounded on studio recordings, even more who don't. Only the very best exceed their studio performance, Geoff definitely belongs to that category.

The first couple of times seeing them live I was in awe as they were so tight ! I didn't hear as much as a missed note , beat , octave or pitch at all ! The closest I've ever seen to perfection in their performances .
So under rated as they never conformed and always did things their OWN way....very talented, probably never mainstream acceptance and probably the reason I love their music...I own it because they did...Thank you Queensryche for doing it your way.

Saw them Live in Helsinki, Finland ... ummmh, back in ´87 or ´88, they were the warmup band for Metallica. Metallica was taking the "And Justice For All" tour. So, I´ve been a fan of The Ryche for some time *:D
I saw them play a live set at a bar in 1987...they did a handful of practice gigs between arena shows while on tour. It was F'N awesome standing 5 feet from a bar stage watching them in their prime

Growing up Queensryche was hands down my favorite band. I saw them for the Empire tour and they were great. Then I went to see them in '97 I believe for "hear in the now frontier" tour and Chris was no longer with them and the music was so awful. I love all the band members, but Chris and Geoff were the engine to that band (imho).

Kelly Gray is an awesome musician and one of the great Seattle music engineers. He has been a friend and colleague of QR for years, recording and mixing a lot of their hits. He stepped in to fill the lead spot after Chris retired because they couldn't find a suitable replacement. After they got their new guy, Kelly went back to his support role. I was at this show back in 01 is it was fukin awesome and Kelly rocked it!

Don't get me wrong, it's still a good album (their last one) however, may I suggest you look up "Take Hold of the Flame" and the whole album "Operation: Mindcrime." I seen them in 89 in Las Vegas NV and in 2008 in Dallas TX. Neither time did they EVER disappoint me.
