Thank you for this, I wanted to know what it was like for a truck driver. Turns, roads and just driving. This is perfect. Other RUclips channels was all talking, foods and seeing what it was like behind the warehouse.
You're welcome, thank you for watching! I agree, I like the way I do this better. Same with like when I watch playthroughs of video games online, I hate when they sit there and talk about everything under the sun the whole time. Shut up and let me watch the damn game lol.
Truck driving seems like a tough job, definitely not for the faint hearted. Y'all are really underappreciated for the work you do, keeping the stores filled and the country running
I appreciate how your video is simply you driving in your POV. I have looked to other videos for a POV like this, but they have skipped most of the driving, shown parking mostly, and been full of talking. It’s very neat to see what it is like! I’m curious, what would you say are your favorite and least favorite parts of the job?
@@nickthenoble4895 thanks so much! I actually have the same opinion as you, before I got my CDL and that's what inspired me to make the channel. Favorite part about the job, flatbed especially, is the sense of pride I get at the end of the day. There's a lot of work that goes into flatbed, where maybe a fifth to a quarter of my total work time is spent outside the truck between securing and unsecuring. Ain't nothing more prideful then a super complex load that's strapped and tarped cleanly. Least favorite part of the job is how we are treated: Be it from other cars on the road, or from the companies we work for. We face a lot more adversity then a lot of people seem to realize. Here's a story: Just today I was turning onto I26 near Charleston SC, and traffic was backed up to a crawl. As I was turning right onto the ramp, two cars came flying down the state route from the center lane going straight, made a hard right through my blind spot and very blatantly cut me straight off and I had to slam the brakes hard to miss them. Fully loaded, almost 80,000 pounds. Things like this happen literally daily and it gets very exhausting. Another one was Baltimore, going from the 695 bypass to 95. The lanes merge down to one. And after the lane ended a sedan came FLYING up on the shoulder and pushed me into the outside wall to get in front of me, only to stay there for the next 5 minutes because of traffic. They came within inches of quite literally killing themselves. As they passed and I looked, they had an infant son in a booster seat in the car. Again, I can't stress enough that this happens daily. This is why a lot of truck drivers act very ruthlessly against cars, which you probably have been victim of at least once. While I disagree with their actions, it's very hard not to sympathize with them as a driver myself.
@@nickthenoble4895 and as for treatment from companies..... Well, once I build up the courage I want to make a video about how I was very unfortunately severely taken advantage of by the company I worked for in this video, then chewed up and spit out. I don't think I have that courage yet but I hope to some day soon. Time will tell, if you stick around I'm sure you'll be here to see it. Thanks for stopping by! I really hope you keep doing videos of your trips!! But do talk a little bit...hahaha😅 Liked and subscribed 😊 Be safe out there. God bless you!
@@debbiebjorklund3241 welcome! When I worked for this company I would haul pretty much anything you find in the lumber/building material section of Lowe's from the DC to stores. I'm regional so I'd be home every weekend and wouldn't go too far. Even where I'm at now I don't go more then 10 hours or so from my house. Now I do steel and aluminum mostly coil hauling with chains and all that but the same schedule for getting home. Nowadays I use my whole 11 hour drive clock pretty much every day. Thanks buddy, I appreciate it!
Peace sign. I was thanking them for letting me through. The cross traffic doesn't stop so sometimes it can be a nightmare for trucks turning there like I was stuck there.
Hey buddy I have one on my PC, been going through it but I'm going to try my absolute best to get it uploaded in the next couple weeks! My new truck is extremely annoying though, all kinds of sensors with beeps and crap, but I'll try to see if I can squeak out more content with it.
That's awesome! Im actually broken down right now, a bracket on my driveshaft busted and almost dropped out of the bottom of the cab! 😬😬😬😬 My poor truck is an absolute train wreck
The bridge is probably 14' I'd hazard to guess. Our trucks cause they're flatbed our cabs aren't 13'6 tall so I never really even come close to bridges besides when the cargo is taller. Don't quote me but I'm 90% sure our cabs are 11'6 tall.
I have a 2019 International LT. Every truck 2018 and newer in the fleet are LTs. It has a Cummins X15, 425HP. My first truck was a 2017 Prostar with the Navistar N15 Maxxforce. The most garbage engine ever thought up 🤣 But yes it is very smooth indeed! Only way this truck would be better is if it had a clutch and a shifter 👌🤣
@@LifeintheHammerLane I like the idea of the cummins, but can't say I would prefer international over freightliners. I will be driving a T680 soon though, I drove freightliner before, and international not really much of but just in terms of quality FL's a bit better. Excited for my T680 though. Judging by the red truck though you work for Roehl flatbed division?
@@robertgardner4508 I work for McElroy Truck Lines, we're an east coast regional company. I love the Cummins X15, performance and I love the sound. This is the only company I've worked for so I haven't driven anything else. I'm itching to get behind a manual transmission again I've been looking at a 2 year experience company with Pete 389s that have manual transmissions.
@@LifeintheHammerLane nice. Yeah personally I’m not an emissions motor person. I like classics. But the x15 is what my t680 will have, and they’re not too bad. My DD15 I had in the cascadia sounded not too bad either though it was really weak and underpowered!
Yeah almost any time I'm going under like 8MPH without a road marked it whacks out like that not knowing what to do 🤣 It also for some reason throws me an error that I'm overweight for that bridge at the beginning that's why I didn't bother recalculating it.
I just realized they did add the International LT in a recent update, that's pretty neat! I used to play Euro Truck 2 all the time in high school, I was an absolute professional at backing in CDL school because of it 🤣🤣
My dashboard says I have a total average of 6.5 MPG throughout my time with it. Loaded it's 3-5, less if I'm on a steep hill, empty it can be anywhere between 6-12, terrain plays a huge part
@@Amir-El-Ghouat well I'm dedicated out of a distribution center so I have almost equal loaded and empty miles, slightly more empty because of going home and back every week. If I was a truly regional running driver that number would probably be fairly lower because I would have more loaded miles vs empty.
Hi! I wonder if you drive 60 mph at 1100 rpm on 10th gear, it seems like you have an 2,64 ratio overdrive transmission. Am i correct? Is it Cummins or A26 under the hood?
Jeez you know more about these trucks then I do 🤣 Unfortunately I do not know the gear ratios, however I do know it's a 425HP Cummins X15, and the transmission is a 10 speed Eaton automatic.
