The blue bridge you were on is called the Roebling bridge. Roebling is the name of its designer. If you notice a similarity between it and the Brookland bridge in New York, it is because Roebling designed it to. He used his ideas that he got from the bridge in Cincinnati and incorporated them into the Brookland bridge that was built later.
First it is pronounced "getta". second it is peanut butter FUDGE dipped in chocolate, not straight peanut butter. Also, I wanted to say that as a native of Cincinnati, I really appreciated your positive portrayal of the city. Your videos are really good, and although I only just discovered you with this video a year later, I plan to follow you for more interesting travels.
The buckeye is peanut butter and confectioners sugar combined. Then rolled into small balls. Then dipped into chocolate. Its ti resemble the Ohio state buckeye nut.
Cincinnati is Best known for it's Ice Cream, Cincy-style "chili" and Breweries as far as Cuisine goes. However, possibly the greatest attraction we have is the Zoo. it is consistently ranked in the top 2-3 zoos in the USA.
Next time in Cincinnati, try Goetta pan seared on its own. Lots of folks with German Heritage make their own. If in Milford Ohio 12 Miles east of downtown Cincy. Check out The Governor for 3rd Generation Home style recipe...
the hispanic and indian food in the area is unmatched as well the westside has some gems as well as the thai place in sayler park neighborhood on the westside is one of the best in the nation.
Goetta is not actually from Germany. Cincinnati was known for its country largest pork industry. German immigrants, looking to stretch their supplies of pork during harder times, invented goetta here in Cincinnati. the area just north of downtown Cinci is known as Over the Rhine. This is where the majority of German immigrants lived back then.
It’s not a macaroon guys, it’s a macaron. A macaroon looks like a pyramid, it’s coconut and dipped (or not) in chocolate. A macaron is French and is made from almond flour and what you showed in the video. Two very different things and always mixed up.
Goetta is not actually in Germany, it was created in Cincinnati by a German immigrant. If you go to Germany and ask about Goetta they won't know what you're talking about
Most non Cincinnatian's don't take to Cincy chili. I prefer Gold Star if I had to eat it but that's extremely rare. I'm a California girl/Air force brat and have asked a lot of new comers if they like skyline and it's always been no.
@@johnmills2678 yes the metropolitan includes parts of Kentucky and Indiana. I’m in brown county an hour plus east of Cincinnati but I’m still counted in that.
2.3 million in the greater Cincinnati area and growing rapidly. There are a bunch of small unencorperated areas like delhi, st Bernard, Cheviot, Norwood etc so the census makes it look much smaller than it really is
@@DeadCat-42 I live out east in brown county. The actual city has 300,000 people. Yes the metro area has way more but that includes parts of Kentucky and Indiana. Heck I’m an hour outside of the city.but I’m still apart of that metro area and I’ve never once felt like I was from Cincinnati
5:56 YOU'RE NOT IN CINCINNATI YOU'RE IN NEWPORT!!! IF YOU'RE GONNA DO A VIDEO DO IT RIGHT! I GREW UP IN NEWPORT AND I'M TIRED OF PPL CALLING IT CINCINNATI! JUST BECAUSE IT'S ACROSS THE WATER DOESN'T MAKE IT CINCINNATI! CINCINNATI HAS BEEN CLAIMING NEWPORT EVER SINCE IT BECAME A TOURIST TOWN ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO WHEN THEY STARTED GENTRIFYING IT! Yeah come to Cincinnati (Newport) were we've kicked ppl out of affordable housing so we can make all these tourist attractions so you'll spend money. Pay no attention to the homeless or the ppl robbing you for your tourist money! Come to Cincinnati (Newport) for the ghetta festival where we charge you $8 for a slice of ghetta pizza by papa John's. Or ghetta items we came up with solely for these festival that we never actually sell on our menus so we could get a booth so you come try our food. Yeah buy into it. I'm from Newport. Everyone in that area that is a criminal knows the best time to jack ppl for their things is during tourist attractions like this. Because they KNOW you're carrying cash!
Ghetta is a staple in Cincinnati because Cincinnati was mostly settled by Germans. There used to be a whole German district where you could tell because the houses looked like they were from Germany. Again if you're gonna do a video do research so you don't sound like an idiot to the natives that grew up eating ghetta.
4:41 that is not Cincinnati nor is it on the Ohio side. That is Newport, KY more importantly that's Newport on the Levee. I'm tired of ppl lumping Newport in with Cincinnati! It's not even OHIO! IT'S KENTUCKY!!!! STOP CALLING IT THE GREATER CINCINNATI AREA!!!! NEWPORT IS NOT CINCINNATI!
The Blue Bridge is called The Roebling Suspension Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge is a replica of the Roebling Bridge
