@Tech Room UK hey just the hub 5. have tried all troubleshooting from the virgin website but it looks like the connect app only works if you keep the hub settings exactly the same and do not split the 2.4g and 5g networks so for me this may be a no go as i like to have them split for device management. also, turns out the pods don't work if bands are split and the default hub settings need to be the same i.e. single ssid as the pods wont work otherwise and nor will the intelligent app. it's not so intelligent, to be honest, as it basically renders the app broken if the customer chooses to separate the bands ( all of which is allowed by the virgin media GUI ). seems like a lot of customers have been complaining about this. i don't suppose you would happen to know if this is the case or if there is any other workaround as i may simply be stuck with not using the app and just getting my own boosters / powerline adapters and setting up wireless access points.

You might not even need to reset the hub, try just plugin one pod in, 1 room away, if it's been more than 5 10 mins and still flashes or has a light on, then you need to do what I said above and reset the hub then plug the pods back in.
My question is I have a dead spot in my conservatory. I want one of these in my conservatory so I can wire my PlayStation to it but virgin website says you have to put it between your dead spot and the router are yours plugged in in your dead spots. ?
Dude if you are on gig 1 you can put them wherever u want, and you can get 3 of them for free. I use one in my room to use my laptop wired when I play warzone. And works. As long as is more than 1 2 meters away from your router, mine is like 7.
So just get 3 of them use one upstairs one in the kitchen and one in conservatory, that's exactly what I do and my router is in the living room
@@techroomuk I wanted to do that, but according to virgin, you can only have them if you can prove you’re getting less than 30 speed if the Wi-Fi signal can’t reach my conservatory, how would it reach the booster in the conservatory?
@@hatdownlowofficial dude how many bedrooms ur house got, and no you can get them, tell them it says on their website, that you must get whole house coverage guarantee. I have 3 of them so I don't see why they won't give you the pods

Do the pods support cat 8 Ethernet cable if I plugged into my son’s PlayStation for better WiFi ?
It does, idk if is cat 8 speed avaliable anywhere in thr uk that's 40 gbs... So you won't get better wifi, you will get better internet connection, wifi and cable are 2 different things, the answer is yes if you want a better connection use a cable from pods to the ps4 or ps5 xbox or tv.
What is square footage of pod
2 of them plus a router is enough to cover 2 floors, I have WiFi from across the street and all the way back in my garden. My router is in the middle of the house, one pod in conservatory and one pod upstairs on the hallway, basically whole house plus outside is covered.
Cheers from Canada....I have 2 ethernet outlets in my WiFi Pod 6E....no luck... doesn't connect with my Router???
Hey canadian buddy, welcome, so the pods work via wifi, you only use the Internet ports on the WiFi pods to connect to other devices, for example (router is downstairs and your pod is upstairs in your bedroom and you feel like taking your laptop in your bedroom and do some work in bed, then you go like oh man the WiFi speed ain't that good for what I need, so you take a internet cable and plug it in your pod and the other end in your laptop, thadaaa your laptop has wired connection.) now to connect your WiFi pod to your router (works as mesh wifi) all. You haveto do is, get your router into factory settings, (reset button on the bottom of your hub 5 router) wait a couple of minutes until Internet is back and running again (solid white light on ur hub 5 router) now take your pod and place it in the next room where you need stronger WiFi, you know when the pod is fully working where there is no lights or flashes. That's all, to change your password and stuff again you can use virgin media connect app (in order for the pods to work your 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks need to be merged into one (factory reset should do that) and that's it) hope it helps.
Oh and btw your pods won't work if you are using the router in modem mode with any other brand router, only works with the virgin media routers. Cheers.

@@akmt123 under all my videos is my email address, next to contact, cheers.
Hey nice video. Does the 2.5gb port work without putting the router in modem mode please?
Yes, if ur talking about the router, the pods don't have 2.5gb
@@techroomuk yes just talking about the router here. In terms of the 2.5gb port, have you connected it to a 2.5gb switch to see if it works?
@@PuzPlays no need, my pc has a 2.5gb port it reads at 2.5 even though I'm. Getting GIG1 speeds 1200.mbs, you'll get 2.5 speed if virgin media offers 2.5gb on ur contract. But yeah the port works, I am using the boosters in other rooms, no nerd for switches or anything, unless you got lots of servers and pcs. 2.5gb on my main pc, rest is wifi and it's solid fast, considering, 2 xbox, 8 Alexa, few other smart devices and camera, 3 tvs, smart watches, washing machine, etc. All work great on WiFi, as long as u don't split it in 2. 4 and 5ghz. Just have it both together and then you can set from the router settings which device gets which kind of frequency. Answer to ur question yes the port is 2.5gbs, speed is only determined by your contract.
Maybe, thanks anyway man 👍🏻
Do you still get good speeds?
Yes
I end up ordering the black pods. Should come Saturday so can't wait to set it up. The walls upstairs are very thick so it blocks the signal in the bedrooms. Old houses seem to be made better then new build houses they all have thin walls made of cardboard. 😂
How do you reset your pods when they don't show up in the connect app?
Pods can't be reseted they work either way, the problem is that you didn't watch the video and you didn't reset your hub 5,in order for the pods to work the hub 5 needs to be in factory Mode. No mess with any settings and have 2.4 and 5ghz networks merged into one, basically just reset the hub 5 make sure is all up and working then wait 5 mins and plug the pod in the next room. You can use vm connect app to change ur password and WiFi name after everything is set up. Cheers
@techroomuk I did watch the video, and it still doesn't work. I reset my hub 5 and put all 4 pods next to it, all plugged in,. None of the pods work still.
@@D1uft your 2.4 and 5ghz are merged into one? Pods need to be like 2 5 meters away pods work when they show no light.
@techroomuk how do you merge 2.4 and 5 into one name?
@@D1uft it's like that by default, so factory reset the hub 5 and it's done.
How much are these pods ? Thanks
8 £ a month, or free if you are on gig 1 speed.
you can aslo get up to three for free if you also have an o2 mobile (volt benefits). Just got one sent today as moved up to 500mb but on one PC can get around 220mbs but the other PC in the same room as the router I can only get 120mbs!... unfortunately for me the wifi pod has done nothing to change that and the speeds are still the same so if I can't fix the speed then I am gonna change my internet back to 250mbs.
@@iwrotewords510 pods won't work if you split the network like 2.4 and 5ghz only stock settings, when I had 500mbs I was getting actually 560mbs... You should use an ethernet cable for yout gaming pc definitely it's like 10 quid on amazon definitely does the job. Plus if the signal is obstructed it will degrade, I'd say keep the 500mbs and use a cable for ur main pc in the room next to the router.
Maybe because the router you have is old? Virgin has a promise to get the advertised speeds, so if you tried everything just give them a call to send an engineer and it will sort it out for you.
@@iwrotewords510 definitely sounds like the router, are you on hub 4 or hub 3? Because I know they only give hub 5 to gig 1 customers. As I said pods will only work on stock router settings, try getting the virgin media connect app and log in, it does wonders. They have a speed optimiser
@@techroomuk yeah I have the hub 3, so I was thinking it could be a problem with the router, I even put my phone on top of it and ran a speed test and it got 260mbs... I guess I will have to give them a ring on Monday to get an engineer out. Thanks :)
hey my virgin media connect app doesn't connect to the hub. any advice? have tried to reinstall the app, reboot the hub etc.
Are you using another router? Or just the hub? Also u should allow location acces
@@cerebralgamer7478 just keep 2.4 and 5 GHz on same name it's not a huge difference, you can pick which device connects to which kind of frequency in the browser menu of the router. Virgin media connect app it's great, id take the simplicity over having my network split, as I sait you can force connect devices to the frequency u get in the 192.168.xxxxxx menu. So not a big deal, connect app works best of u keep ur router stock settings.
