    Connected to one of these via ethernet right now, getting up to 600Mbps. However over the time we've had it the ping to London has gone from 16ms to like 30 on a good day with with lots of jitter up to 80ms. Can't tell if it's just the tribulations of WiFi or Virgin Media throttling once again!

    Hi, I'm going crazy. I have Hub 5 and just got my first WiFi Pod. Plugged it in and eventually lights go out and I can see the pod see on the connect app BUT it states that it is Offline! I have moved it to different places in the house and the same. I have now plugged in two ethernet cables and the app states it is connected to 5 devices but it still states it is Offline! I have the correct default settings for the Hub. Any suggestions to change the Offline to something more encouraging? Thanks.

    • @techroomuk
      @techroomuk  Год назад

      Okay watch the full. Video. You have everything there. But is simple take off the pod, factory reset the hub 5 (litre button on the bottom) Use a pin if u want. The hub 5 needs to be in default factory settings in order for the pods to work.
      That means ur 5ghz and 2.4 have to be merged into one always.
      Unplug the pod, reset the router to factory settings, wait 10 20 mins, plug the pod, wait another 5. Go back to virgin media connect app and change ur WiFi password from there.

    • @techroomuk
      @techroomuk  Год назад +3

      First of all pod should never be in the same room as the router, for example my router is in my conservatory and one of my pods it's upstairs on the other side of the house in my room.
      Second for the pods to work your router needs to be on factory settings (don't split networks I'm 2.4 and 5ghz, have them merged into one) devices will automatically connect to the best one.
      3rd mistake is that the router and the pod are conflicting each other. You won't get same speed if they in the same room, and pods are not wifi 6 so bear in mod speeds that shoe on your router only, will never be achieved when using the pods, I keep my pc wired, and wifi only for cameras, tv, phones etc.

      @techroomuk  Год назад

      @@Macca3 if you want to set the pods, I think you can just restart the router, factory reset, of course that will change password and everything which is fine because you can always change it later, after you factory reset the hub 5 wait 10 mins until internet is back and running again, place the pod 1 room away from the router, you will know hene the pod is working when there will be no light flashing or no light at all on the pod. Usually takes 10 mins, now you can go on the routers adress on the back using the admin password and change the network name and the password, make sure you leave everything else stock, and keep both 2.4ghz and 5gh merged, basically everything stock just change the password and WiFi name after the pods are up and running. Or ask your landlord for the virgin media connect details so you can manage the Internet in the house, say its easier to check the WiFi speed and set devices up, will do no harm to him or the network. If not, if you do what I said they should work without that login info anyway, they plug and play as long as the router is in factory settings. You might not even need to reset the hub, try just plugin one pod in, 1 room away, if it's been more than 5 10 mins and still flashes or has a light on, then you need to do what I said above and reset the hub then plug the pods back in.

You haveto do is, get your router into factory settings, (reset button on the bottom of your hub 5 router) wait a couple of minutes until Internet is back and running again (solid white light on ur hub 5 router) now take your pod and place it in the next room where you need stronger WiFi, you know when the pod is fully working where there is no lights or flashes. That's all, to change your password and stuff again you can use virgin media connect app (in order for the pods to work your 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks need to be merged into one (factory reset should do that) and that's it) hope it helps.

      you can aslo get up to three for free if you also have an o2 mobile (volt benefits). Just got one sent today as moved up to 500mb but on one PC can get around 220mbs but the other PC in the same room as the router I can only get 120mbs!... unfortunately for me the wifi pod has done nothing to change that and the speeds are still the same so if I can't fix the speed then I am gonna change my internet back to 250mbs.

      @@iwrotewords510 pods won't work if you split the network like 2.4 and 5ghz only stock settings, when I had 500mbs I was getting actually 560mbs... You should use an ethernet cable for yout gaming pc definitely it's like 10 quid on amazon definitely does the job. Plus if the signal is obstructed it will degrade, I'd say keep the 500mbs and use a cable for ur main pc in the room next to the router.
      Maybe because the router you have is old? Virgin has a promise to get the advertised speeds, so if you tried everything just give them a call to send an engineer and it will sort it out for you.

      @Tech Room UK hey just the hub 5. have tried all troubleshooting from the virgin website but it looks like the connect app only works if you keep the hub settings exactly the same and do not split the 2.4g and 5g networks so for me this may be a no go as i like to have them split for device management. also, turns out the pods don't work if bands are split and the default hub settings need to be the same i.e. single ssid as the pods wont work otherwise and nor will the intelligent app. it's not so intelligent, to be honest, as it basically renders the app broken if the customer chooses to separate the bands ( all of which is allowed by the virgin media GUI ). seems like a lot of customers have been complaining about this. i don't suppose you would happen to know if this is the case or if there is any other workaround as i may simply be stuck with not using the app and just getting my own boosters / powerline adapters and setting up wireless access points.

      @@cerebralgamer7478 just keep 2.4 and 5 GHz on same name it's not a huge difference, you can pick which device connects to which kind of frequency in the browser menu of the router. Virgin media connect app it's great, id take the simplicity over having my network split, as I sait you can force connect devices to the frequency u get in the 192.168.xxxxxx menu. So not a big deal, connect app works best of u keep ur router stock settings.
