"Prom king was the highlight of my life"
That's honestly the saddest line of dialogue I've ever heard in a movie
DragonbornX45 I feel so bad for people who peaked in high school
DragonbornX45 welp 666 likes
DragonbornX45 if that is really someone's highest peak in life than they have a pretty shit life
Dear Christ, I've heard that sort of line said in different ways, and it makes me think "do these people ever wonder where they went wrong?"
DragonbornX45 i haven't had a peak of my life yet and im 19 is that sad?
"You are a selfie virgin?"
How can someone even come out with this line
Shyen what does that even mean?
Quickman may win That it's there first selfie...
I'm no longer baffled by anything the finebros come up with after their idea to copyright and license the reaction video format. It's like those two are not really people, but rather reptilian martians without a grasp of basic social conventions trying to masquerade as people
Steven Zhu I pointed this out to someone else, but that has nothing to do with creativity. If anything very creative people tend to be controlling or greedy.
I prefer the ugandan movie over this one
"We didn't shoot up the school. None of us commited suicide."
That line is so tone deaf it's actually unbelievable
I had to pause the movie when I heard that. It was awful.
They couldn't even tell a low hanging fruit joke right. It's pathetic.
If the movie was a dark comedy this joke wouldve been fucking amazing
Ik this line is so awful, it basically implies that them shooting up the school would have been justified
Why do i feel thats a Heathers refrence
God no
Don't associate those two movies
I hate how all the “losers” in these bad movies are always super attractive people who clearly know they’re super attractive. “Oh no, you’re smart, pretty, funny, athletic, and talented? I can see why everyone hates you.”
Movies like Superbad actually got kids who weren’t conventionally attractive. They understood why a kid might be unpopular. Movies like this try to make us believe the kids who would obviously be popular are somehow hated.
Freaks and Geeks is one of the few shows to understand that too!
@@bethanyvarre9142 I never heard about that one
Superbad is like the only movie to get highschool right
Superbad was a great movie because no one was overly attractive. Even the girls that Seth & Evan are trying to get laid with aren’t unrealistically attractive and they looked like actual high schoolers
Tyler Campbell That’s not true. Sky High is very accurate.
"you're a selfie virgin? A siirgin?"
I watch Power Rangers in my own time but I've finally found it. The worst line of dialogue ever written.
In the words of Nostalgia Critic to that godforsken line:
"Wow. I mean... wow. That is the worst joke I've ever heard in my entire life."
Ahh!!! after 10000 years i'm free! :P I agree with you completely though, hells bells this movie (hell even just that one scene) makes old school power rangers look like Shakespeare :D
Hey, at least Power Rangers can be campy. But this replaces camp for cringe.
At last.
*holds up beaker*
The worst joke in existence.
@@WillieManga I agree. I love Power Rangers, and have been watching it since I was a little boy in the 90's, and even though they almost always had corny dialogue, i loved it. As I got older, I remember taking Power Rangers just a bit more seriously, despite them being corny and as you put it, campy. Still love the series. Even if I may not watch it now, I still respect how great the series is. Hell, my favorite english anime voice actor started out AS a Power Ranger! I even loved the Power Rangers Turbo movie. And 2 of my favorite Power Rangers are also played 2 different versions of the same character, which I didn't know until later. But there's no saving the dialogue in this movie. Way too cringey for ANYONE to believe. Like it's from another dimension or something...
"Prom King was the highlight of my life."
Wow... That's pretty damn pathetic.
LocksAndChains it’s also really messed up , if my parent said that I would ask, What about the day I was born?
LocksAndChains your profile pic matches your comment.
It's such a sad statement.
It's one of those things that's so common in small town American and so sad at the same time, like, being on the football team or cheerleading squad, or, really anything in highschool being the highlight of your life is jut...well it shows how little you've progressed at best.
LocksAndChains The guy is married (albeit, divorced), has a son, and makes good money judging by the house.
It’s funny that Diary of a wimpy kid pulled off a way better message/moral than his.
But diary of a wimpy kid is a good movie
But what is this
Exactly, it showed that you don't need offensive humor and alcohol to make a school movie realistic
@@insulam821 exactly
Like you said, all the characters are flawed but still manage to be likeable at the same time and develop as the story involves
F the prom on the other hand just made a bunch of unlikeable characters who can't act and didn't bother to give us a reason to root for them
Funny how media loves to see depth, meaning and beauty in children's behavior, but when it comes to teenagers they think they can be as shallow and stupid as possible as long as they're sELf aWaRe
Insulam Archipelago but Rodrick is flawless

Jesus CHRIST, these people are stupid.
God is dead and we killed him
So it would have been fine if released before?
Ross
It wouldn’t have been fine at any point in time.
Every high school movie, no matter what positive message they think they convey, it always comes out the total opposite.
"Don't worry about not being popular. You'll get the hot girl anyway."
"It's okay to be a virgin. You still have time to get laid before senior year."
"Think you're unattractive? Don't worry. It's just your glasses."
I’m tired of high school movies, society has progressed past the need for high school movies
@@_lol.imagine_ That statement implies that we needed them
Not super bad
@@spaghettioverlord3247 I agree. Superbad is pretty much the ONLY high school movie the entire world needs. Although Ferris Bueller's Day Off is still classic, and there's some things to like about the Breakfast Club, I guess? I don't know, I wasn't there when the movies were made. But seriously, Superbad is the ONLY high school movie any of us need, 'nuff said.
Easy A, Mean Girls, Superbad, The Duff etc. etc. i think still hold up as good high school/teen life movies that don’t undermine the message, capture certain universal elements of high school life we all have to deal with and or have experienced, and still manages to capture the fucking horrible undertones that is the human experience especially the adolescent stages.

Have modern adults not learned that high school has changed since 1986
Not really. They understand that technology has advanced and that the movies and TV shows are different from the ones in the 80s. But they dont understand that how teenagers interact has changed.
Speaking as a modern adult, the Fine bros are cringe merchants who wouldn't know satire if it wrote a glowing review of their material and praised their business savviness.
They never even went to high school even in 1986!!!
It's a weird self-fulfilling prophecy. Writers can't be bothered to do research, so they just copy what they've seen before. So you get the same tropes about high school recycled over and over again.
It's like how every old person on TV is recycling old person tropes from, like, the 1950s, even though for that to make sense they'd have to be about 150 years old.
@@lucybarnes8969 They never went to high school period.
Yes really, the finebros where homeschooled
"We didn't shoot up the school. None of us commited suicide."
"Oh I see, so I'm not allowed to adress the issue I'm having here until there's at least one dead body present?"
I can fix that and I'm not even American
"One death is a tragedy. Many deaths are a statistic."
The father character is honestly way, way, WAY too far. Every single thing he said was absolutely disgusting, unacceptable, and completely unjustifiable. This movie is for young teens. I'm almost 20, and it made me EXTREMELY uncomfortable. The Fine Bro's should be bloody ashamed of themselves.
If Super 8 called the cops on his father for several sexual remarks towards a minor and is sentenced to 15 years in prison plus an occasional beating by fellow inmates, the movie would be much better.

I dont know why people think Prom is a bunch of popular kids making fun of nerds when its just another normal school dance
yeah like flexing
Same with the whole "battle for prom queen" No one cares, no one remembers who won, and the winner, at least at my school, wasn't someone popular. They were someone who everyone just generally liked
Yeah we had a guy with disabilities win prom king lol like it isn’t just all about a popular contest, there is more important parts of life than fulfilling vanity
yeah, like school dances don’t really mean anything. literally it’s just a bunch of sweaty kids in “formalwear” dancing around in a hot, dimly lit gym for a couple hours so they can leave and go a probably more fun afterparty
I genuinely wonder if that’s what it was like for the people who wrote these movies
If the characters think prom is so shallow and vapid, then why don't they just... not go?
That's what I did.
eh, fucking something up the ass and ruining the fun just because you hate it is perfectly in line with teenager behaviour tbh, thats 1 thing this movie gets right
Because in movies, Prom tickets are very very free.

Yeah, I couldn't afford an outfit (I had no formal wear at all, and knew I'd have to pay for it out of pocket from doing the odd job or two) and I wanted to drink and have a chill weekend, so I spent the night with a bottle of red wine and played WoW with my friends instead. No regrets there :D
But I did hear the next week the dance was shut down because people spiked the drinks with LSD and a few couples were openly have SEX on the dance floor. So being a mature introvert has its perks.

U mad bro....hmmm Lee....hmmm. Oh I forgot! Hey [Robert] Lee you mad bro? Love Ulysses Simpson Grant

Why you should use memes and references in your movie:
Pro:
- Someone from the audience *might* get a laugh of it *if* they watch it while the meme/reference is still a thing *and* if they think the meme/ref is funny
- ?
Contra:
- Anyone who doesn't know the meme/ref won't find any humour in it and will have no idea what it's supposed to convey
- Anyone who watches the film after the meme/ref is "dead" will think it's not funny, just cringy and outdated
- It usually doesn't progress the plot or improve the dialog at all
- If used incorrectly you will undeniably prove how out of touch you are with actual pop culture
- If used by "smart" characters you'll make them look hella dumb
Clearly, the pros outweigh the cons.

24:07 That moment when the "hero" of the movie tells his fellow classmates they're lucky he didn't GUN THEM ALL DOWN.

"you used to give me rubber bands everyday because you knew i liked to play with them"
That line was probably for a seven year old.
Puddles without the band it’s for a 12 year old
Give some so I can strangle myself with it
sounds like a rupi kaur poem
The writing is on the level of the “Anakin Skywalker hating sand” moment
Hey your corgie is adorable don’t complain about his gas
When the father said that the girl was "killer in the sack", I just had to stare at the screen in disbelief. First off, how was this even made? There are so many "jokes" that are just plain disgusting.
So I learned something that makes this movie worse:
Apparently the Fine Bros were homeschooled
They didn’t go to public school
_THEY MADE A MOVIE ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL PROM WHEN THEY WERE HOMESCHOOLED_
But of course. I mean to be fair I don’t know what public highschool was like for you, but it’s actually more of a gray drag of anxiety and depression. Nobody really acts like this because we all just want to die before the entire world burns. An accurate film would be a bunch of teens sitting on benches slowly eating their small snacks within our 30 minute break and looking half asleep.
@Xyre154 "never hung around teenagers"
The teens that the fine bros have on their channels, don't count?
They prolly took their mother as their date to a prom hosted in their kitchen where the dad was the “DJ”
@Xyre154 It would count if they adopted a more humble approach, conducted research regarding high school teenagers -- their likes, dislikes, etc. -- by actually *asking* them about their world.

Hello once again Stick Master.
"You used to give me rubber bands every day because you knew I liked to play with them".
What a supremely embarrassing line. They couldn't come up with anything better than rubber bands to signify how close those characters supposedly were before?
"They address Game of Thrones, a show much better written than this!"
That aged well.

This is so painfully 2000s it actually hurt when I found out it only came out a year ago
That's what I thought when I watched it. But the problem is is that this is WORSE than any movie from the early 2000's that I've ever seen.

As someone who likes fullmetal alchemist, I am horribly insulted that they would even mention it in this atrocity.
I am currently a freshman at high school, I can confirm that getting your pants pulled down as soon as you walk in will never happen to anyone.
404UsernameNotFoundX if you do that in real life in front of many people . You'll be the one who's gonna get embarrassed, and a punch to the face too.
Hell in my school, there are no bullies. People give each other equal shit, and peoples problems are more about their "significant other" or saying how shitty a teacher is.
@a ninja, same with my school, it is pretty friendly. My last school had only 2 bullies, but it was only verbal and never like pulling down someones pants or shit like that, lmao.
I can actually confirm that as a freshman my friend DID pull my classmate's pants down (not too low though). But nobody around them including me really gave a shit besides my friend and his other friends.
404UsernameNotFoundX as a graduating senior i can confirm that all of you sound dumb as fuck
The Fine Brothers profited off others peoples talent for years, that was their basic business strategy. Why would anyone think they have enough talent for an hour and a half movie?

Thank you for the autopsy report, Gumshoe.
F the Prom could’ve done one of two things so that the obscenity would’ve at least been passable.
1. Like you said, have the obscene moments be played off as if they would be considered obscene in the established world.
2. Make the established world so comedically absurd that these obscene jokes can be passed off as normal. Airplane! did this brilliantly.
are you talking about airplane with jake or logan paul (whoever the fuck it is) in it
hockert law The original. Fuck Airplane Mode.
i was online schooled and i still know high school is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like this (or like 90% of modern movies/TV shows with a high school setting)
I really like to think the line "we didnt shoot up the school; none of us commited suicide" was supposed to hit hard about social issues but it just sounded like a 13 Reasons Why joke
The Henryverse pretty much
Sounded to me more like they were trying to be edgy and controversial and it came out as exploiting awful things that have happened...
Yeah, 13 Reasons Why is, like, okay.

"IT'S ONLY STATUTORY IF YOU GET CAUGHT" - Fine Bros
"When there's no cops around, anything's legal!"
-Grunkle Stan
I liked that joke to be honest. I mean the context is super weird, but i think IHE forgot that humor is completely subjective there.
True, but it needs to be executed right. With my Grunkle Stan reference, the audience is shown that Stan is a conman and a criminal. The audience knows that he's a morally corrupt man, and what he does is not encouraged, But with that freaky Principle, the scene almost romanticizes the idea of minors getting together with older people!
The same goes with art, even if it's made to be disturbing, if it has good quality and skill added to it, anything can get by with me really. This scene did not.
Why the hell are the fine bros so obsessed with sexualizing minors... This movie and that weird puppet show they made. Soemthing is deeply wrong with them and it needs to be addressed.
Yeah it's weird idk how someone can possibly make jokes about something they don't actually mean
Cause it's edgy. It's just so edgy. Don't you get it? They're daring and dark and shocking and edgy now. Check out these pedophilia jokes. The punchline is pedophilia. EDGY.

Don't worry you'll come out of the closet one day
When the dad said “that girl is probably killer in bed” I physically backed up from my computer
I'd like to think that these types of movies were made by people who never even went to a high school.
It honestly feels like that.
If they were to make an accurate high school movie high schoolers wouldn't be able to watch it.
and even the 'reject' kids group are so off the mark as a group of conventionally attractive kids. A real reject kids group would have some kid being picked on for being disabled, fat, their race etc. But instead, like pointed out in the vid, you get moderately handsome athletic guy- who even if he was rebuffed by his team mates clearly has another group of openly gay guys in the school he could hang with or the tons of girls who already hang out with gay guys in their high school. smh, all those ' teens react to ' vids they made and they couldn't ask any of those teens about the real high school experience
I think its more of an issue with "we went to high school 30 years ago and don't realize that times have changed". Instead they go only based on what highschoolers and such say about school life, while realizing that those fucknuggets are still too young to explain and describe anything in a reasonable manner so in part it is them to give these shoddy film makers the idea that its all about emoji, texting, sex and about being popular/unpopular.
I think that in general its best to never confine your film into a school and its surroundings. Even if it was done "well", it would be so uninteresting that its not worth a movie. In general these fucking teenager movies need to go as they never offer anything wortwhile.
Especially when the biggest worry for a teenager is "oh my gooood I'm not pooopulaaar, oooh my good I have a test and I need to study for it". That's not interesting!

I feel compelled to say that the line "Most girls want to be prom queen" really bugged me. Yeah, plenty do, but plenty don't. It's such a stupid blanket statement. I never went to prom and I don't regret it. But I would never want to speak for "Most girls".
My school didn't even have one
@@katatat2030 Same. I went on independent study for high school.
I literally cannot remember whether or not my prom had a king/queen. Also my brother was the classic douche jock in high school. Major player, had a personal trainer, got a soccer scholarship. Randon girls would come up to me all the time telling me how hot he was.
10 years later....hes overweight, got cheated on by his last girlfriend, works a menial low wage job, lives with our parents still, and recently had his truck repossessed.
Also the amount of rape/sexual jokes in this movie is so tone deaf.
Real highschool is absolutely NOTHING like movies, there isn’t the “popular” and “not popular” groups, highschool is huge most people don’t know anyone outside of their social circles
the writer was actually homeschooled and never went to prom. it explains a lot.
Yeah like omg there are no popular kids/groups, people just mind their own shit
Homeschool was similar for me (except I was somehow the reject of the rejects)
There's not a line, many schools have "popular" and "not popular" students, but there's a lot of graduality. It's not all or nothing.
Highschool bullying is done WITHIN the social cliques, not across the cliques.
Has anyone who writes these teen comedies actually been to highschool? It's amazing to me, because there's a huge amount of material to work with without having to resort to stupid cliches.
You’d think they’d just get their mates together and get loads of funny story’s from high school.
I really like the Breakfast Club because it went BEHIND the cliches.
NetWalkthroughs
Do you learn that stuff on highschool?
NetWalkthroughs I know right? This is like nothing I’ve ever attended.
RUclipsrs that have been around for over a decade still having edgy early RUclips/MySpace humor despite pushing 40 make me wanna die
13:12 Couldn’t agree more. This movie suffers from the Deadpool Syndrome.
Also, can you imagine the Fine Brothers showing their debut film known as F the Prom to the teenagers they have on their Teens React channel? The amount of cringe they’d feel would probably destroy their own channel.
I just cannot believe they thought it appropriate to make an old man say that about a high school student???? She looks like she’d be good in the sack??? Sir, I think you’d be good in a cell........... 😳
If only someone had ruined his prom he could of assumed responsibility for his own life and been less of a creep.
With a cell mate named Big Bubba. (He's pretty good in the sack, too)
pro builder That's what I thought, and sadly it's pretty accurate on how some people view their life experience, but without character development, arc, comeuppance or any sort of punchline it's pretty unfunny and unsatisfying...

"Let's reference Game of Thrones, a much better written show, in our movie!"
I mean... It is better written, but considering season 8 it's not much better written...
I’m sorry, but season 8 was well written and GOT is certainly much better written than this flaming piece of shit. The only poor writing of GOT season 8 was the poor explanation of Dany’s insanity. But this was only a problem because the 6 episode season was too short.

27:19 Heathers. The movie you're looking to recommend is Heathers.
A 1988 dark comedy starring Wyonna Ryder and Christian Slater, that is now a cult classic and, in my opinion, pretty fun to watch. Much, much better than whatever this is.
The two actually have a lot in common. (Keep in mind i've never actually seen F the prom) but there's:
It's about highschoolers
Two lifelong friends, one of whom is not cool and bullied and the other is cool
A guy and girl are sick if the way their peers act and want to do something about it
Some very horrible jokes
Something bad happens to the main popular girl
The asshole bully jock gets more character development than he deserves
Teachers who don't know what they're doing
Parents who don't know what they're doing
Conspiricy
The main guy was raised by a single dad who is really awful and the main girl is raised by two awkward parents
Mentions of r*pe. (In the musical version of heathers (which is great, 10/10) the r*pe is supposed to be a comical thing with a really awful song to go with it.)
A plot to ruin every one's senior year...
The guy gives a speach at the end
The main guy and girl don't end up together

"Offensive humor is only humorous when the reactions to it are realistic." THANK YOU! American comedy writers keep forgetting this!
Kimi FW or the joke and punchline have to be surrounded by total absurdity (ex. Eric Andre Show, South Park) otherwise, the joke falls flat on its face
Kimi FW I'm an American and even I know that American comedies RARELY pull off shock humor well.
@@seancoughlin350 Yeah, I didn't fully agree with the idea that the reactions should all be shocked and horrified. That to me is just pointing out that you've made a shocking statement, which is something that should be obvious.
That's why South Park worked. Eric Cartman was treated as the villain almost every time, and the others (usually Kyle) told him off for screwing with people. And my favorite part is when he gets punished for his over the top dick moves in fittingly over the top ways.
I can use myself as an example. In 2015 I made a YTP on Thomas the Tank Engine and made the policeman say he hates black people (because Michael Brown was still on my mind). That’s horrible on its own but immediately after it I had someone call him out for his racism. I was 16 when I uploaded that. 16!
