why do so many terrible movies cost so much?
Tudor-Paul Balan-Tribus all movies unless independent (like Blair witch) cost alot cause u have to pay the actors daily, every house/school/store etc they had to pay to film in, pay the camera man and staff, pay thousands alone just for a camera (they probably had 4-6 camera btw), the props and furniture had to be bought for scenes and every house shown, marketing, and u have to pay for music (not sure how much was just stock music tbh). All of these things can easily be millions which is why some companies use product placement so not ALL the money is coming from the producer etc alone. Think about all those costs over the span of months and even years along with having to replace stuff, scrap takes, reshoot stuff etc, and you'll have a idea y. Director really don't make much money, they kinda cross there fingers and hope they make more then they spent (enough to make another movie) and keep what little is left over.

Liam Exists from what I could tell a lot of actors refused because of the black homeless man eating excrement. Shane refused to take a single thing out to make it more appealing to actors. The show was a competition called “The Chair” Shane’s rude, controlling behaviour and inability to take criticism got him completely blacklisted so he’s unlikely to get work in film again, at least as a director.

I just learned that shane was on a tv show when this was being made, and it was a competition where him and another director both had the same base script to work with, and then made their own movies based off of it. He was a total asshole the entire time and refused to listen to feedback that it was too offensive, gross and just not funny. They could barely find any actors because no one wanted to be in it. Terrifyingly, this movie won between the two.

Shane was pissed off that he couldn’t get a writing credit for this movie. He made the screenwriter change so much that he felt as though he’d basically written a new script and wanted to be credited for writing. He had to have his ass handed to him on that one. Why the hell anyone let someone who clearly knows nothing about the film industry have near complete control over an entire film is completely beyond me. I hate how Eddie Murphy plays nearly every role in his movies. I hate it even more so out of Shane Dawson. Actually.....I think I just hate Shane Dawson. Cherami Leigh who played Tori has a very good track record in voice acting for anime, Western animated TV shows, movies and video games including voicing the female V in Cyberpunk 2077 so she's the only one who made out alive in this movie and is doing fine.

This was part of a competition. That Dan guy wrote a pretty down-to-Earth indie movie, and the script was given to two completely different directors and they were able to rewrite the script as they wanted. So Shane took a not great, not horrible script, turned it into this. There's a great scene in the show (this whole process was documented on Starz) where Zachary Quinto refused to put his name on this "film" as a producer's credit.

This movie was a part of a reality show called the Chair, and Shane actually added a lot of the gross jokes... which makes so much sense
I found Drew to be the only redeeming thing about this movie (and even saying he redeems it is a bit much). As you said, he's a good actor, and can't be held at fault for following direction. Plus, I think this was his first time even trying to act. From what I remember, Shane was just a fan of his RUclips channel and personality, and invited him on.

I just watched a video from another creator who looks at the BTS of the making of this film... absolute shit storm. Shane looks unbearable to work with, holy moly. So many people didn't want their name in the credits and even actors did not want to audition for the film because the script was so disgusting! Hence why you have Shane as the lead lol huge ego boost, he never took any criticism, yelled at people, and was also the lead. ZOINKS!

No that‘s the wrong order: This writer guy Dan had written a script that was then presented to Shane and his team and Shane said he wanted it written as a comedy and added probably all of the gross humor and offensive jokes.

The guy that’s listed as the writer of the script, actually didn’t write it. This movie was made as part of tv competition show called “The Chair”. Two directors were given the same script & budget, & were judged on who could make the best movie. So, each director took the script & pretty much totally rewrote them. The guy listed as the writer on Shane’s movie totally wanted his name removed because of the trash Shane turned his script into, but they wouldn’t let him.
I would have simply filmed me and another person sitting in chairs, reading the script aloud.
That would have been better than this.

She should look more sincere, looking at her family, sad smile, looks at him and uses what we think is a pity smile, rummages in her jeans for what we assume to be money, then she asks, almost desperate (not sarcastically) "trade places with me?
