Great comparison. Living in an all-hardwood floor house, I've got to decide whether the better cleaning power of the S5 Max is needed and outweighs the benefit of the object avoidance system of the S6 Maxv.
Sound from 1 side only. Had the same challenge when i started sound recording for some video. Realized need to change my recorder setting from Stereo to Mono OR alternatively, choose dual mono in the post production software like final cut. Good luck with the channel
Great review and comparison! Since the object avoidance feature seems to be the major difference between the two unless having pets or kids that leave objects around the house i guess i will look into the Roborock S5 Max since its much cheaper than the s6.
I used the camera while it clean for a few times. With camera live viewing were on, it's easier to mark the no zone area and invisible wall as you can see where the robot is and the you can straight away mark the no zone or invisible wall
People are finding the s6 maxv problematic on carpets. The main brush shuts off completely and does not agitate the carpet at all. According to Roborock this is a "feature" to protect the motor, but its so sensitive that even on medium pile carpet it stop making it pretty useless. I can personally attest to this and nothing had been done to address this since launch. If you have medium-high pile carpet stay away from the s6 maxv.
What's the use if camera is not used for assessing dirt. Apart from cable and sometimes socks getting tangled , I like when my S5 pushes shoes and slippers around because under them it gets dirty.
Hi, great comparison, thanks. Please, could you do a similar comparison with Roborock S6 MaxV vs Ecovacs T8?? Would be very interesting infact. I say thank you in advance and congrats for you job's quality.
Is the AI and camera worth the money to avoid small obstacles? Since that is the only difference. Does the S5 max simply push small things around or suck them up?
Thanks for your comparison video. Do you know why on amazon the manufacturer shows the s6 maxv with 2500 Pa vs 2000 Pa for the s5 max if on your tests the s5 max was 20-25% more airflow??
@@CordlessVacuumGuide I see, but the measurement of pressure (suction) at the motor and the airflow at the brush don’t correlate together? Roborock is one of the only companies where I’ve seen their older products test with higher performance over their newer ones.
@@ubzcorleone6835 I'm not sure why that's the case. I did the airflow test multiple times on each setting. I would get the median when it registers the same results twice. I don't get the highest, but repeat results. I'm still exploring other ways to measure suction on a robot vacuum.

Hi! Thanks a lot, good comparison. I have a question: do they have a drop sensor? Just in case there are some stairs in the area. I know, you can draw a stop line on the app but just in case. I noticed some other robots are featuring such a sensor. Thanks again!
@@CordlessVacuumGuide Thanks for the answer. I already bought S5 Max because everybody says he cleans better than the others. If it's that much, I'd stick with the S5 Max. It cleans better than the S6 MaxV overall based on tests. The only difference is front camera, but they have not perfected the technology yet.
Thank you for your detailed review! I have an S5 that I used for 18 months and absolutely loved it. Then it suddenly stopped working with an error code of 1. The sensor spins when I move it manually and we can't seem to see anything that is stuck or inhibiting movement. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this error and success fixing it? I am considering purchasing a replacement, but that is a lot of money for 18 months of use :(.
I have a rug in the living room that is about 1/2 the room and large tile in the other half. When the machine is in vacuum and mop mode, I want to mop and vacuum the tile floor, but only vacuum the rug. Can it do this automatically by sensing the rug and turning off the mop? Then when it goes back to the tile floor, it will do both mop and vacuum.
Good question. One option would be dividing the room into two then adjust the power and water flow accordingly. You could also use the no mop zone as it should work in theory. But the pad will be wet at a certain point so technically you will also be mopping the carpet.
The Roborock app is compatible with the newer models like the S4, S5 Max, S6 MaxV, and S6 Pure. It isn't compatible with the older models like the S5. If you have any of the newer models I suggest going with Roborock.

Quick answer: S5 Max Why: it's TWICE as cheap (~350 vs. ~700 when they're on sale), the main difference between the two is 25% more sucking power and an added AI camera. That's basically it. If you think 25% more sucking power and an unnecessary AI camera are worth €/$350, go for it. It's definitely not in my opinion
So far so good with this vacuum. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. This is much better than then the Rumbaa !
Is the AI and camera worth the money to avoid small obstacles? Since that is the only difference. Does the S5 max simply push small things around or suck them up?
It's not perfect. The camera has blind spots so if the object falls into those zones, the robot will not avoid it.
Can the mopping function be switch off for both of these models, if we decide we do not want mopping done on any particular day?
Yes, just remove the mop and the robot will automatically detect it and shut off the mopping feature.

Pascals measures the suction close to the motor. The CFM is the measure of air flowing through the brush roll.
