    I've owned a large line up with my latest being the i7+. It is the best option for most people. Until now you had to maintain the vacum every time you used it making it less of a convenience. The self emptying docking station is mind blowing. I don't touch the i7 for a full month. It's on schedule to clean the entire first floor of my large house daily and require zero maintenance. Best thing we ever did. Run time doesn't matter because it docks itself, charges exactly the amount of time it needs to finish its job and does that. The mopping on the roborock is a gimmick. It'll be awhile before they make robots mop well. You spend more time filling tank and cleaning the cloth on the robots that don't even do a decent job than it'll take you to grab a swiffer and mop yourself.

      roborock s7 works very well according to new reviews and that works with an auto empty dock. The roborock g10 (Chinese flagship) works with a dock that can automatically clean your mop pad so it won't be very much longer until something similar comes to the US.

    I bought the i3+ and loved it, but it constantly got stuck under my coffee table. After the third time in a week, I'm exchanging it and giving the 6s a try. A little disappointed the i3+ has better suction, but liking the zone mapping. Hoping it fits inside my google nest atmosphere well.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  3 года назад +3

      Biggest difference between i7+ and i3+ is that the i7+ has customized digital mapping and in general is a better navigator because of it.
      If you have a complex and/or large home layout (say 1,500+ square feet) then I would say go with the i7+.

    Which is most quiet? Roborock S6 or iRobot 7 or 9?

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  3 года назад +3

      Depends on the mode. S6 MaxV and S9 have a quiet mode, both of which are similar.
      However, the S6 MaxV on mopping mode would the be the most quiet.
      Roomba i7+ doesn't have variable power, so it's going to be louder (or closer to the same volume as the others at full power).
      At full power all 3 are about the same.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  2 года назад

      If budget is of little concern the best robots that I recommend are...
      amzn.to/2S2C4Oo - Roomba S9+ - get this if you have lots of carpet and need the absolute best carpet cleaning performance
      amzn.to/3H0cdyn - Roborock S7 or S7+ - if the self empty bin isn't important get the non-plus version and save a few bucks. In either case, the S7 is the best choice for mixed floors...get this if you have 30-50% or more hard surface flooring, as the mopping function is super nice.
      amzn.to/3cGk9EN - Roborock S6 MaxV - get this if you frequently leave items lying around that the vacuum can get stuck on, the avoidance AI does a great job at avoiding those obstacles and getting stuck less
      amzn.to/303bdbF - Roomba j7+ - get this if you frequently leave items lying around that the vacuum can get stuck on AND you want a self empty dust bin

    Some small corrections:
    All of Roborock's E series are capable of smart navigation. Not just the E4
    Every single Roborock vacuum is capable of auto-rechage charging
    Not a single Roomba has a maximum rated battery life of over 120 minutes even on low power
    Little bit of a nitpick but Roomba isn't its own company. Roomba is just the name of the product. iRobot is the company

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  3 года назад +2

      Regarding the top-up charging for Roborock, that is a very recent change (like within the month or two). Last time I went through their comparison specs table only a handful of their robots included that feature. Evidently they have now added it to all of their robots.

      We don't have any immediate plans to compare the Roomba i7 vs. the Roborock S6 MaxV, but I'll put that on our suggestions list. Perhaps we can do it in the future.
      Both of those vacuums will do extremely well for pets. It really just comes down to your floor type. If you have more carpets than hardwoods, get the Roomba i7, as it's best at cleaning carpet. If you have more hard surfaces then get the Roborock S6 MaxV, as the mopping attachment gives it an advantage at cleaning hard surfaces.

    Here's a strange question, or maybe not. On my who's on my WiFi app, I can find the vacuum but I keep getting "unknown device found" . I changed WiFi password just in case someone was piggybacking on ours. But it still appears.. So, my question, is it possible that the vacuum and the charging base have 2 separate WiFi addresses?

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  3 года назад

      No, that's not possible. Only the vacuum communicates with your wifi.
      Device labeling in the router's backend is notoriously hit or miss. My router too has trouble knowing what every single device is. However, it's more likely that it's something you added yourself that the router just cannot identify, even though it has been allowed on.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  3 года назад +2

      If mopping ability is important and/or you just have lots of hard surface flooring go with the S5 Max
      If you have way more carpet, especially high pile carpet, than hard surfaces, go with the Roomba i7.
      Don't get the Roombo combo. Based on what I've read about its specs it just doesn't seem like it's designed to the same standards of other Roomba models. I hope I'm wrong about that, because a mop + vacuum iRobot product would be great. But I think it's telling that they didn't choose to release it in the US.

      @@leighbarrett6797 Yeah, that single roller brush is a big red flag for me. A large part of what makes the newer Roomba models so good is their dual rubberized brushroll system.
      Since you have mostly carpet I'd get the i7+. It's going to be the best performer for you. If you decide you want something to mop you could add the Braava Jet 240 - amzn.to/2IUrW92 - It should be on sale for Black Friday.

      If you don't care about mopping then it's an easy choice for the Roomba i7.
      Roomba's e, i, and s series out performed every Roborock we've tested to date, including the S7, when it comes to vacuuming on carpets. If vacuuming is the most important then go with the Roomba i7.

    Im having a hard time deciding between the Roomba 960 ($299) and the i3+ ($399). I originally bought a 675 for $180 and while its interesting and works better than I expected I can see its short comings with long cat hair and tile floors.
