I find myself watching every video PPP puts out. At first, it was the penny press and pin trading videos that lured me into being a follower of this channel.
Then the next period of content kept me coming back, I call this the FUN PPPERIOD. During this time, the Matterhorn Macaron and Churro challenge were a fun expansion of content, and it was the relatability of Chris and the family that made me want to support this channel beyond subscribing and providing thumbs up. When I met the Provost family by chance at the park, and realized that they are the kindest folks in the parks, my family joined me in my love for the PPP channel too. Unfortunately, with COVID, Disney RUclipsr gossip and scandals, and the end of the annual passes, the FUN PPPERIOD had to come to an end. It's not their fault, it was just the medium and resources changing. Through adversity, PPP persevered the hard times, kept refining the craft, and came out puns-a-blazing.
I was concerned that the videos would become stale and content would be regurgitated and repackaged for newer audiences, or the viewership would get cannibalized by the algorithm. Years later, and with many changes at the parks, entertainment, and our nation's cultural and political climate, Provost Park Pass has persevered as one of the leading voices of theme parks. While other channels have survived with strong persona (Justin Scarred), hot takes on the business of theme parks (Adam The Woo), variety of theme parks (The Carpetbagger), positive interaction with cast members and food reviews (Ordinary Adventures), and unbelievable deep dives into Disney meta theories (Offhand Disney), this channel is the only one that accomplishes strengths from all these amazing channels in a comforting and easy to digest format.
Today, I find that the current videos have truly broken into original and trailblazing territory. The history and knowledge demonstrated in the Secrets Revealed videos have always been my favorite, but lately the life affirmations, and the depth of the knowledge of details from the parks is absolutely exceptional and have set this channel apart as the cream of the crop. Please continue to lead the space, PPP.
The reason why I have finally typed this all out in a comment today was because, like PPP, I have seen the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln countless times. I did not know that there were Frederick Douglass artifacts in the waiting room of the Opera House, and the simple 'I concur' and signature from Lincoln on the freedom papers are simply earth shatteringly rare and beautiful details that set Disneyland as one the best places to find inspiration and courage to keep our spirits up. Moments like these are what keep me tuned in, and make me excited to go to the parks again and again. Thank you, Provost Park Pass. You make the world a better place, and hold me to a standard where I can help me do my part to make the world better. YOU ARE AWESOME!

Mr Johnson, I concur with you! Your eloquence and appreciation for PPP is so justified. When listening to Abraham Lincoln saying those words, I was thinking that they are as relevant today, if not more so. In these turbulent and divided times it's easy to get depressed but Chris is always there to give us encouragement by telling us that we are amazing and awesome. Thank you Mr Johnson and a big thank you to Chris and family at Provost Park Pass for being the kind people you are Thank you for being funny, thank you for being "punny", thank you for loving history and thank you for your love of everything Disney. Chris, you and your family are amazing!!

Thank you so much for all of the heart you put into this video. This is absolutely one of my favorite attractions. I recently had the thought that it would be so fun if it got the Provost Park Pass treatment, but since they discourage filming in there, I thought it wasn't possible. Love the video. Though I do wonder if it is time for Disney to update "spirit of tolerance." "Spirit of Community" and "Spirit of Brotherhood" were ideas that popped up for me.
Maybe the category still applies, but in my mind, the icons in this section have transcended being merely tolerated.

When I was there in 2018, they played Steve Martin's Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years on loop in the pre-show room as something to watch in between shows. Also, this whole attraction including the framed photos as you exit got me really emotional. Just being surrounded by so much rich American history got my waterworks going. It was hard to hold back the tears 🥹 I had to go listen to the Battle Hymn of The Republic after watching this video. I'm going back to Disneyland again all next week. I can't wait to visit Lincoln again! Great stuff as always, Chris! You were absolutely deserving of the special access 🫡

Great video!!! Our family spent quite a bit of time here on our last visit (the kids eventually dragged me out - lol). It was wonderful! The Haunted Mansion artwork was on exhibit at the time.
I’m so glad you were able to respectfully film it to share it with us! We were asked not to, of course (and the Cast Members actually parked inside to check if we were obeying the rules halfway through).
I talked with her after the show, and she gave us a lovely tour of the entire opera house! Between you and that Cast Member, I feel like I’ve learned so much! So thank you.

This is your best video yet! Naomi Daisy's comment (below) is spot on. I have one minor correction: Originally there actually was a ticket for Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln..... it was a complimentary ticket at the beginning of each ticket book, with a personal invitation from Walt Disney!
This attraction inspired me to create a movie (8mm in 1970 with sound on reel to reel tape) in junior high school, and sculpt a bust of Walt Disney himself!

My wife was a huge Lincoln fan as well, and even though we never had a chance to visit Disneyland before she passed away, I played an older RUclips video for her of the Lincoln segment (I think it was from LMG). She said that when we got to Disneyland she wanted to go to see Lincoln first thing. When I was little (in the 60s), I would sit up front, not because I was a Lincoln fan but because I read he was a "robot" in National Geographic. I was mesmerized by the detail.

The 12 Spirit statues are copies of life-sized statues that line the theater walls at Epcot's The American Adventure. The original show had a very long ending that included Mark Twain and Ben Franklin introducing each of the statues. After the high of the "Golden Dream" montage, it was a real show-killer, and was thankfully scrapped. If you watch, though, the statues still get a subtle, but respectful highlight at the end of the show.

I disagree with you about not having a ticket for having a ticket for Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. When you purchased a ticket book you also received a special ticket for Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and Travel through Inner Space. The model of the Capitol Building was behind President Lincoln. I have been and enjoyed Great Moments with Mr Lincoln many times. I have seen this show change over the years. Sally Ride was the first American Woman in Space. The first Woman was the Soviet Cosmonaut was Valentina Tereshkova who flew into space on July 16 1963 onboard Vostok 6 for Three days.

Thank you for this very informative piece on Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln. Beautifully done. Slight historical correction: the very first audio-animatronic show was the Enchanted Tiki Room which opened in 1963 at Disneyland. Mr. Lincoln opened in 1964 at the New York Worlds Fair, along with the animatronic shows Carousel of Progress, It’s a Small World and the dinosaurs in the Ford exhibit. But of course, Mr. Lincoln was by far the most complex figure at that time.

Legend has it that the first animatronic of Lincoln used red hydraulic fluid. And one time a tube sprung a leak and the red fluid started to spread across Lincoln’s shirt. The audience was horrified, thinking that Disney was re-creating the assassination! After that incident, Walt insisted, they develop clear hydraulic fluid for the animatronics! And as you know, Disney Legend, Bob Gurr designed the original engineering for Mr. Lincoln, which set the standard for all future animatronics.

We love Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. I love Walt's devotion to American history and his passion to perpetuate it. His interest rubbed off on me - what I'm sure he hoped would happen to all of us. It worked with me. I'm fascinated by the detail that went the creation of his first animatronic. How indebted we are to Walt for this art form. Thank you for seeing and perpetuating Walt's vision. If he were alive, he would thank you. And as you know, he didn't thank people often....

Thank you, Chris, for this incredible video! Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is such an emotionally moving show that I highly recommend for everyone. Walking out of the show with tears streaming down my face, I felt the most American, and the most proud to be American, in my life. Thank you for teaching us about all the amazing details, exhibits, and history surrounding this show 💙💚

not the first animatronic, first full sized human animatronic. The first human animatronic would actually be project little man, and then the mary poppins bird, and the prototype birds for the tiki room predated Lincoln, which is why MAPO existed as such.
The announcer says "first human audio animatronic" which is a very specific thing because that's true because audio refers to the control system which is no longer used anymore though. The first human animatronic is project little man though but used a more tradition mechanical cam control system, and the first audio animatronics were birds.
Also the current Lincoln isnt an "audio animatronic" hes a "digital animatronic". his control system since the 70's has been DACS, "Digital Animation Control System".

@@pault5557 Hondo is a1000, I believe Lincoln is still a a100. He and the tech around him was started in 2015 and revealed with him in 2019 and they created a lot of different sized figures using the tech that he uses. Hondo was a big step forward they really showed him off.

I was 7 years old the year this opened and I remember being amazed by it. I went home and tried to make President Lincoln out of toilet paper rolls and craft paper using string to make the arms move. I remember my parents couldn't get over the fact that his fingers moved during the show. Great memories.

I saw the show with Mr. Lincoln in 1965 as a kid. My mind was totally blown. I knew he was dead but I saw him alive. I saw him breathing. My head was spinning trying to understand. When he stood up I was speechless. It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. Every time I visit Disneyland, I see the show again and love it but that first time was a moment I will never forget. Totally amazing.
1965 was my first time at Disneyland. That first day I went on the Matterhorn bobsleds five times as my favorite ride - an E ticket

I really loved this video ! I was 13 in 1968 when I first visited Disneyland, My parents took us to see Great Moments with Abraham Lincoln and I was amazed with everything I learned. Seeing him speaking was like seeing him as if he was there. I love all the interesting facts you shared. We were at Disneyland recently and this was the first thing we did. Every time I hear Mr Lincoln speak, I am inspired. It is good you made more people aware of how great this exhibit is. I think every child should see this.
