This Is NOT A Secret ... Provost Park Pass Rocks! 😊
Awe thank you 💙💚💙💚
indeed😊
Could you please do a video about Skyway? (The sky buckets that went from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland). I am sad that I don't remember where it was in Fantasyland. Now looking at Tomorrowland in your videos, I don't think I remember where that was either.
You sir, are indeed correct
@@cooperwalpole5777 Not something I ever hear at home! 😂🤣😆
Hi Chris, having worked at Disneyland I knew most of the secrets you mentioned. But I have a secret to share that goes all the way back to the very early days of the park. Of course you know about the lamp in Walt's apartment. It was turned on when Walt was in the apartment. Directly across the Main Street Plaza opposite the firehouse and Walt's apartment is the Opera House where Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is shown. Did you know that the second floor of the Opera House contained all the telephone operators and PBX switchboards? So when a call came in for Walt, the operator would literally look out the window over to the firehouse and Walt's lamp. If it was turned on, she could transfer the call to him. If it was turned off, Walt was not in the apartment. This "High Tech" procedure went on until Walt passed away and the light is now left turned on permanently as a tribute to Walt Disney. I was told this amazing story by a fellow cast member who actually used to be one of the Disneyland telephone operators. More deep history for your collection! Thanks for all your great content!
I did not know this. Thank you for sharing. It’s amazing.
Past cast member here too. Another thing that’s attached to the lamp in Walt’s office, when a Disney is in the park, they turn the light off! It happened once while I worked there!
@@RyldsGirlwhen a Disney? What do you mean by that?
@@byronfuentes3904probably a Disney family member.
@@byronfuentes3904a relative of Disney
The story of the Date Palm gets even better. The Dominguez property owner said the palm was planted in 1895 as a wedding gift by his father. Just before the park opened Ron Dominguez at 19 became an employee of Disneyland. Working his way up through the ranks, the son became Vice President of attractions..
Walt kept his word and on Main Street there is a painted window that says Dominguez Real Estate and a saying below "We'll care for your property as if it were our own."
One of my favorite secrets, told to me by a Walt’s Apartment Tour Guide, is found in Fantasy Land, to the right of the castle. Behind the Wishing Well, there’s a few steps up to a service door. Go up the steps and you’ll find a tree with the initials of Peter Pan and Wendy Darling carved in the bark. PP+WD
That's awesome.
My wife found that . She took a picture.
Thank you for always doing your "I'm talking to you" segments. Today I really needed it. I didn't know I needed a stranger to recognize my current struggles. It's going to carry me today. THANK YOU.
Oh brother
@@jeffreywillmitt Someone felt the need to be seen today. Happy to help you out. Have a nice day, Jeff.
Yes, somehow Chris always has the right words. He has helped me as well. Hold your head up. I will be thinking of you.
Same. 😭🤍🫶🏻
You should do a video about all the quiet places in Disneyland. There are so many places where most people don’t go. They are great places to just sit and rest or maybe let your little ones nap or just walk around.
Frontier Land Bathroom....last stall...very quiet lol!
Pizza planet outside section is the best place to nap
Where the space mountain line starts
The theater with Mr Lincoln
Not sure if it still exists, the park changes frequently, but there was a little covered section of benches just outside of Small World on the submarine side. Very quiet spot for a nap for the little ones.
When you stopped to tell us that we matter and that we are important…thank you. I really needed that and I cried hearing it so, thanks. You are great too!
More secrets please! One secret I have to share is on Tom Sawyer Island, there is a boat docked on the northern end. You can see it while riding the Mark Twain or the Sailing Ship Columbia. It's an ohmage to the Mike Fink Keel Boats attraction that operated from December 25, 1955- May 17, 1997. There were 2 boats that raced each other on the water during an episode on the Disneyland t.v. series. The boat that is docked on the northern end is called the Gullywhumper. Thank you as always Chris for sharing these secrets
Joe Leon THANKS FOR THIS “ homage” (French word and correct spelling) !
One of the best secrets at Disneyland are the backgrounds of the cast members to make magic there. There are cast members who’ve been there for over 30 years, but there are also cast members like myself Who came to Disney after retirement from Careers in engineering, Education, athletics, and even entertainment. Next time you and your fans are at Disneyland just walk up to random cast member who look older than 30 and ask him how long they’ve been making magic there and what they were doing before they came to Disneyland.
Brook putting the chocolate on the tigger tail was adorable.
How the cast members make the Disney treats so perfect and practically identical in my eyes is amazing. They're so precise and clean. I'm here thinking I'd be spilling orange sugar everywhere and the chocolate for the stripes would be dripping especially with people watching. It's always so mesmerizing to watch them at work
I believe that "plaque" behind the water fountain is actually a cast iron fireplace front. Down South, back in the days before AC and central heating, people would close off the fireplaces with these fronts when the fireplace wasn't in use.
My favorite "secret" isn't really a secret at all... It's how much the foliage has evolved at Disneyland over the years. It has grown-in SO MUCH compared to when the park opened, and even since I remember visiting as a little kid, long ago. When you pointed out the Dominguez Palm, that made me realize, there are really big, impressive, mature trees all around the park that didn't exist just a few decades ago. It just goes to show how magic happens, right before our eyes, and it barely gets noticed!
Fantastic comment 👏
It's been many years ago, but the OCRegister did an article about the jungle of the Jungle Cruise. They pointed out that over the years the growth had resulted in the jungle having it's own unique mini ecosystem. Pretty cool, I thought.
@@DougBertoglio I've heard about that! I know Disneyland has developed it's own ecosystem, with cats, ducks, and crows. I'm sure there's a mouse in there too
Over in DCA I remember when I went in 2003 just a couple of years after it opened, Grizzly Peak towered over all the trees. Just went a couple of weeks ago and it barely peaks out above the trees now. Kinda cool in its own way I guess.
My wife and I went to Disneyland yesterday and when waiting to go on the Indiana Jones ride outside, I noticed two huge trees between IJ and the Swiss Family Robinson attraction. They are massive and I was wondering where they came from and how old they were.
More secrets please!
My husband Cam and I had the absolute joy to you this week in the park on our honeymoon! I’ve adored all your videos for years, you’ve got us through some heavy Disney travel droughts these past few years in our family. AND there’s nothing better than seeing someone who you’ve loved watching and seeing their journey on RUclips for years, meeting them in person and seeing that they genuinely are in person who they are online! You are a bright light in this world Chris (and your whole family to boot!) keep being you, you’re so very much appreciated on this little corner of the internet 🥹
Heres another thing from 40 years ago that many people may not know what was in Tomorrowland where Star Tours currently is. There use to be these rooms with clear doors you could go in & there was a pay phone in it. The room was like this big speaker phone room where you could make a call from within the park on this pay phone in Disneylands cool speaker phone room. I remember it because I called my boyfriend back then to find out how our dogs were because he was helping my family by staying at our house to take care of our dogs while my parents took me to Disneyland as my high school graduation gift.
I kind of remember that too. Pacific Bell Co. probably sponsored it.
It was where Buzz Lightyear is. Star Tours used to be Journey to Inner Space🙏🏻😁. It was awesome. ❤
@@jujubee2141you’re mostly correct! It was just Ma Bell back then though, coast to coast.
I remember that. Dang, hard to believe I’m that old🤣
It was so futuristic then!!!
I found the Rockets and People Mover were so interesting. I rode those jets and the People Mover for years! I remember the elevator. Thanks for showing where I can see them again.
I love that you not only have facts that I never knew, but you also are on location. It’s so much better than the basic RUclips slideshow information dump.
I love that the Blue Bayou restaurant is part of *Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.*
Having lived in Anaheim from 1953 to 1968, I’ve seen Disneyland change from a somewhat “Primitiveland” to the fantastic park it is today… I can go there today and just walk the park absorbing the atmosphere that exists only in Disneyland (and eating in the best restaurants they have)…keep up the great work of showing the Disney “secrets”!!!
Oh my goodness. the end of the video after talking about the Palm tree, when you speak to us directly, it really touched my heart. Thank you!
I just finished reading the book “Walt’s Disneyland” by Jim Denney and he suggested the Test Wall was actually the start of an entrance to a new land called Liberty Street. He lays out his reasons in the book, but I thought it was interesting!
I love videos like this 👍🏻
Disney’s attention to detail is one of the things I love most about them. More secrets please!
Will do!
Thank you for saying those words ..
Ron Dominguez was son of the Dominguez famley he was Disneyland vic president until 1990 . Also his house he was raise on is still in side the park but in the back off stage .neear where the keep the horse.
CHRIS!!!!!! When we were in Disneyland in April, I told my husband I saw your vid on the Tiger Tails.... now all he thinks about is how to get to Dis to get more!!! LOL 😅
Shout out to Brook, the candy artist!
I loved the big budget outro!
I really needed that little talk towards the end of the video. It felt like you were talking directly to me. I love your channel, I love your energy, and all your little fun acts. You are the absolute best!
Hi Chris, I just came across your page and wanted to say thank you for that sweet reminder at the end of the video. I’ve been feeling a little lost lately with my job and hearing what you said meant a lot. Thank you for spreading kindness and positivity 💛
we had the pleasure of meeting you last week while at Disneyland, we watch all of your videos and knowing and looking for all the secrets makes Disney that much more fun.
VIDEO IDEA! Hello Chris! I would love to see a video about the "Little Man of Disneyland" about the little Leprechaun that lives in a tree at the
entrance to Indiana Jones, check it out!
Yeah, I thought that was going to be the Adventure Land Secret. It is very similar to the story about the Dominguez Palm and I wonder if Disney didn't write that book to tell that story to children using characters they'd understand.
Chris, you are a very kind, and special, person, and your videos are great, informative, and helpful.
More secrets love that Eeyore happen to come by as he's my favorite. Love the puns and love your inspirational messages they are very uplifting.
Love your little inspirational message at the end.
A "secret" I have never heard anybody mention is on the Disneyland Railroad. It is just past the metal bridge. On the right hand side there is a post with a bag hanging on it. The sign says "RPO", Railroad Post Office. Back in 1838 all railroads were also designated a mail route. Small locations that didn't have a station to load and unload mail a "catch on the fly" device was used. As the train passed, a postal employee would throw out the locations bag of mail and an arm on the car would catch the hanging bag of outgoing mail as the train sped past - without stopping. There is a lot more fun stuff to the story, but this message is already getting long LOL.
Don't know how much of a secret it is but the telegraph taps by the new Orleans train station is actually part of walts opening speech
It's all these details and "secrets" that help make Disneyland so special.
My mother went to work for Disneyland on the very first day it opened in 1955 I believe it was July 7th. So, well my two younger brothers stayed with the babysitter I rode with my mother to Disneyland. I wore her badge around my neck and I was able to have free run of Disneyland. Basically Disneyland was my babysitter for nearly 5 years. I was always interested in mechanical things, so I explored below ground where all the shops are. The biggest secret I know of is that there's as much underground as there is above ground. Also, on my 8th birthday Walt Disney gave me a personal tour and let me steer the Mark Twain riverboat, which I found out later on was on tracks but nevertheless it was fun. I couldn't even see over that enormous wheel. Then they had the choreographed show across the top of the riverboat where Zorro is being chased by Sergeant Garcia and he pushes Sergeant Garcia off into the river.
I really enjoyed reading this, thank you for sharing!
The depth of the windmill secret my goodness! I’m impressed!
My favorite secret was Roo's mailbox, which we already knew, but showed our kids when they were small, and they loved it and were so excited to see it. Any kind of video you put out is always good. Secrets, best food, drinks, rides, characters, even about the cast members, I know it'll be good, and I'll be watching. Thank you.
They're always nice to hear, but I really needed that pep-talk this week.
Thanks Chris!
I just stumbled upon your channel while preparing for a trip to Disneyland.. I just want to say that your message at the end is so appreciated ❤
You are so welcome 💚💙
These were great! Honestly it's hard to choose but I think my favorite is the bricks. I think it's so cool that they left it that way. I also love the palm tree. I agree, it speaks volumes of Walt's character and very cool that a massive team effort has been in place to keep it going.
Thank you. You made me cry in a good way when you said those kind words of affirmation and love. I needed that ❤
23:15 is where I burst into tears. I needed to hear that right now. Thank you. 🙏
Thanks for the videos Chris! I've always been a Disney fan and I haven't been able to go in person since 1995 when Indiana Jones was the newest attraction. Your videos help me keep the magic alive. Take care my friend.
I always get a little emotional.. when you have you do your little helpful/ motivational speech😢❤..thank you for that
Thank you for the sweet message towards the end. I’m watching your video for this first time cause Im going to Disney for my first time in February. I booked this trip to help me look forward to something and get me thru my rough time every winter season. Thank you for your kindness.
Growing up, my Mom worked at Japanese Deer Park in Buena Park, CA. Because of this she was able to get us in to Disneyland for free. I have great memories of those summers. One of the things she told me was that they replace all the flowers at the entrance to Disneyland nearly every day to make sure these flowers are fresh and in full bloom. I have always thought that was amazing and to this day I think of that whenever I see the flowers at the entrance. Great memory.
Hey Chris could you do a behind the scenes video showing how you research and plan out a video, then record and edit it? It would be cool to see the process it takes for you to make these awesome videos! 👍
yes! i would love that video!
You are one of the most amazing people I’ve ever seen and you didn’t even have to know I needed that message of love but you still did it and I appreciate that so much 😢😊❤
needed that message today!.. awesome video!
This is SO MUCH FUN. Please do more secrets. Also that Tigger Tail looked amazing.
Hi, I'm from New Orleans. I don't know the story where they found it, but the plaque actually looks like a decorative cover from an old fireplace.
When you showed Roo's mailbox you missed something that harkens back to the days of The Country Bears Jamboree. To the right and higher there was a sign painted on the building next door. It said Teddi Barra's Swingin' Arcade. The Country Bears Jamboree has been gone for years and some people may not know what it is referencing. Also in Winnie the Poohs ride towards the end there are also the three heads from the CBJ.
I thought for sure the Critter Country secret would be the Country Bear heads inside the Pooh ride.
Charlie Brown and Peanuts are the characters at Knott's Berry farm. Both Walts were friends
Ty for the appreciation, I needed that 💯
I came here for the facts, but thank you for saying that I matter. That was so genuine.
The jingle at the end was my favorite 😂
THE FERAL CATS THAT hang at the Hungry bear
Thanks Chris, love your videos, and I appreciate your positive messages.
Just found your channel while trying to fall asleep I got to interested I’m still awake and you got me going with telling me I’m doing a good job and all that sappy stuff. I like and subscribed right away, I really needed that!
Glad you found us 💙💚
I remember when Astro Blaster was on top of the platform. Ron Dominguez was a VP for Disneyland for a while.
Chris kept saying Astro blaster too. It was the Astro Orbiter. Astro blasters is the buzz light year ride. :)
Wow!! I'm a huge huge major disney buff, I do a lot of digging and learning about disney and there were many facts in here I knew and even some I didn't! i'm always so happy to learn new things about the parks for the first time l
Thank yoy for the words of encouragement!
Oh my gosh!! Thank you!!! I have been looking for that Charlie Brown at the end of the Small World Ride for years!! I knew it was at the end but could never find it. Thank you!!!
Keep up the great work Chris and Amanda 💙
Thank you! Will do!
This was a great video, and the little encouraging nugget at the end was really special, too. Thanks for putting this together!
Another awesome video, Chris! Thank you for dropping so much (hidden secrets) knowledge on us.
My pleasure!
When i was there doing work on the Rocket Rods, i was asked by the Disney PM if i could do something special for him. On the ASTRO Orbiter, the hoop you see when you first walk up to it has two gold balls on the ends. The hoop used to go all the way around. Low enough for guests to do chin-ups on! I was asked to cut that hoop and fashion those balls at each end of the cut hoop. It was weird cutting something that someone else made and so perfect! Got it done before they opened that morning.
Tomorrowland's plants -about 80% of plants in Tomorrowland are edible and harvestable.
Hands down, the best theme park blogger. The only one I'm convinced is just as nice as his on screen persona.
Most secret hunters know about the "gold spike" in the pavement as you come out of the castle into Fantasyland. Some know it is NOT the center of Disneyland, but a survey marker. Few know there was a similar survey marker in Main Street pavement, just south of the switch at the south loop of the trolley tracks. During the last renovation to Main Street, it was hidden beneath a pixie-hole (tiny man-hole) labeled "MON", short for Survey Monument. There are similar survey markers in the other lands too.
I have a sort of secret for Tomorrowland that's also about the Rocket Jets.
The art peice that replaced the original Rocket Jets used to actually move and is built over the mechanics of the old ride. The sculpture would go into motion around every 15 minutes but hasn't notibly been active since 2013.
I haven't heard anyone else talk about this really and it's kind of cool to know that it's still there.
I remember that!
There is another post above yours on this listing.
thank you for your message, its my first time watching your videos and it caught me off gaurd and really made my week better. you're so kind ❤
That ending really got to me! Thank you!
I have seen your videos around for a while and recently started actually watching them. What a joyful experience it is to take a break with you from my day now and then. Thank you for the content.
The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the absence but in the mastery of his passions.
You are the best Chris, thank you for taking me to my happy place. YOU make the world a better place!!! ❤❤
You're the best!
I love your face when you bit into the Tigger Tail.
Did you know - in Tomorrow Land, where the compass rose is now, used to be the location of the “Flying Saucer” ride, and the Tomorrow Land Terrace sits where people would bring their model airplanes to fly them inside of a chain link fenced offer area just for flying their string controlled models.
Omg I just saw you in ca adventure by the cozy cones in cars land!! We love your vids!!!
Can I make a vid suggestion also? Can you make a Disneyland California adventure ride
Loved you conclusion message! ❤
More secrets ! Love
The info. Thanks.
I’m not a big Disney person but I stayed for this host. Good work. Love your stuff.
The plaque looks like a cast iron fireback for a coal burning fireplace (based on dimension), based on the neoclassical motif it would be from the 1780s to the 1840s
Hey Chris, about the back drop in 18:37 if I’m not mistaken that is the Greek goddess Artemis, Diana for the Romans. She was the virgin goddess of love, hunting and the moon.
She was the sister of Apollo, older than him in fact, and after she helped her mother to give birth to Apollo (don’t ask why, mithology is weird) she vowed to stay forever a virgin and live in the woods alone hunting.
She is depicted with her bow and a crescent moon rotated 90º on her head, as some sort of tiara, just as seen in the fountain
Love the secrets!!! My favorite was the Charlie Brown tribute. Next time I go I got to get a pic of that. More secrets please! Its the amazing details that Walt put in that makes Disneyland so special!
Thanks for your Peptalk- I really needed to hear that today! God Bless You! I love hearing about D-land secrets! More would be very appreciated!
You are so welcome!
The plaque looks like a fire back for a fireplace to keep the room warm
Amazing. You might be correct. 💙💚
ok dude. wasn't expecting the "you matter" bit. Now I'm in tears. You didn't have to do that but man do I appreciate it. Dang.
WOW! Great secrets here. Great job on the solo camera work and the overall production value in a packed park. Loved it, thank you for making.
Not sure if this was mentioned, but in Tomorrowland, all the plants are edible. Pomegranate trees, kale, Swiss chard, purple cabbage, etc. are grown there because that’s how we feed the future of tomorrow.
Love these and love your videos! One fun secret here. Toon town. Between Donald's Duck Pond and Goofy's How-to-Play Yard. There is a small tent with a lamp and you can activate that lamp with a switch. The only light switch guests can activate in the park!
More secrets please! Even if its secrets I already know, it's always a blast to hang out with you!
Thanks as always, Chris! My family and I discovered your Channel all those moons ago when looking for Disney History and - then as now - you never disappoint. All your stuff is great but ALWAYS love the Secrets Revealed. I know it’s tough to keep putting out content, especially consistently good content, but you’re doing just that and it IS appreciated. All our best …
The Dominguez Palm story was very touching.
More secrets please!!! Thanks for the words of encouragement I needed it today.❤️❤️❤️
Dude, Dr. Matt here... I've been watching you for a few years now... CHARLIE BROWN?!?!!!!!! Zoinkers!!!!
More secrets please! Love your content! Keep up the great work! Hope to see you at the parks some day 😊
Always such a delight watching your videos and all the hard work you put into them. YOU ROCK! I hope to run into you at the parks again sometime. Thank you also for your jokes and always leaving positive messages to us all and that goes right back to you. YOU MATTER..hugs😁
my wife told me this one - not sure if this is a secret but regarding the red and white lightbulbs at the refreshment corner. there’s a corner in which a bulb is both red and white and it’s because walt didn’t want to break consistency with the pattern!
More secrets please! Thanks so much Chris as always!
