Do you think it's ok to have dogs. Taking them out of their instinctual habitat, giving them separation anxiety, no natural wolf pack, and a bad diet. Do we have a right to cause this suffering to dogs. And do we have the right to own an animal?
We do not "own" a domestic animal. We are responsible for the fact that thanks to our domestication for profit, they will never be able to survive in the wild. So, i think it's every person's duty even more so, a vegan to take care of whoever he/she can and give one, or more "pets" a happy, comfortable life as close as possible to what that particular pet needs. Love, food, shelter, companionship of his/her own species, protection and care. I used to be a horse rider, when i became vegan, i sold all my things, my mare is in a 4hct pasture with 2 mates, no demand from me at all, she is free to go as she pleases, they have open boxes, hay in winter and grass in summer, she lives as close to nature as a horse that has never known anything but domestication can. I'm also the lucky guardian of 2 greyhounds rescued from Spain. That's the best i can do, if i could do more, i would. Those animals depend totally on us, they were all bred to be used as a tool for human pleasure,it's only fair we take care of them.
