110 ºF = 43 ºC That is too hot! As you said: more solar and LiFePO4. And maybe a canopy to keep the sunlight of the van. Yea $..

A good way to cut internal heat is to wrap the exhaust on the portable air conditioner with a wool blanket or something similar you would be surprised at how much heat they generate and it does not need to work as hard cooling hot air .

Have you ever considered selling the bus and purchasing an accessible tiny home?

In 2020 I got a 2000 and a 3500 predator generators, both for under $1k delivered. They have both been great. I got after market jet kits for both on it made a world of difference and made a noticeable difference in fuel consumption. Thanks for the content Dan.

Maybe you could install the w/c generator in one of the luggage bays...or something ?
Anyway stay cool and thanks for sharing.

Dan, you should get one of Milwaukee generators, very reliable for your bus

at the ambient temps you are running that thing you should use 15w40 or 20w50

have you thought about a set of 150 to 200 ah LiFePO4 battery's in a metal fireproof box that you could keep outside the bus or something along that lines (so if god forbid a fire happens, it cant catch the bus on fire) you'll get many more usable amp hours and much longer battery life and have a higher amp load you could pull.

It might be time to vent and heat insulate one of the locking under bins for power.

Sometimes you really pay out of pocket just for the brand name, having said that though we used to use Honda generators at my workplace.
Talking of brand names, I have just bought two 75 Amp hour MK batteries for my powerchair which weren't very cheap.
My powerchair had some second hand one's fitted which left me crawling along back home.
Surprised that you didn't go for an electric start on your generator, cost maybe 🤔.
Thanks for the video Dan 👍

i would have gotten the electric start one - but they seem to have pulled it for whatever reason.. my policy is, if something is TOO neat, it has to go away :^)

What's the cost to upgrade your grid connection?

Why didn't you think about installing a mini split air conditioner to the bus? Do they pull too much current or? You would think that those are much more efficient than the portable units since the hot air and compressor etc. is outside.

if this was a school bus or something else, for sure! only problem is ALL of the outside walls are glass, and the entire back is engine access doors, radiator and intercooler. a roof unit is the only option for external AC. which is doable, but will take some work - the roof hatches are large, and oddly shaped. and to further complicate things, there's a giant support beam that runs right down the middle of the roof! so cutting a hole isnt possible. sticking a roof unit in place of a hatch is the only feasible spot, and would need some custom fabrication for installation. its on the list.. but wont be cheap :^/
mini-splits are great tho! you can get them in DC12v, 24v, and 120vAC! just wish one would fit somewhere

@@TotallyNormal-Yeah, might be that the roof unit is the only possibility, but it can be expensive to modify the roof if its even possible.
I’ve seen on multiple Drift team buses that they mount the outside unit to the ”luggage compartment” on the bottom of the bus. So when they park, they open the luggage door and turn the ac on. But i feel you already have the space quite well populated in the bottom of the bus 😀
