You're right about them not sharing space; they are each so different from one another. It does indeed make for a well rounded 3 piece collection. I like that you're being true to yourself with your collection and including watches because you like them, not because they're necessarily 'must haves'. It is this aspect of your videos and presence in the community that I find refreshing.

Rootbeer is in my opinion the most interesting Rolex available at the moment. Way more versatile than you'd think. The contrast is so good. Wears beautifully and feels so quality. Can't identify with a smartwatch but it makes sense of course. And a vintage Omega...Nice. We have similar taste.

I just picked it up after not having worn it for a year or so. Still keeps good time (+ or - 5 to 8 seconds a day), easy to wind, runs great. If you look around you can find good examples (FYI, mine is not for sale) for under $1K.

You bought an Ultra! 😱 very very cool! And I love your take on Apple. I think you’re absolutely right - they do test the watch industry. Which is GOOD! There is nothing to be frightened of. It meets such a different need than a mechanical watch. Some people (like me!) won’t want a computer on the wrist. 🙈 but the defensiveness of watch geeks when it comes to Apple comes off soooo insecure. 😂🙈 no need to be insecure!

But, the Omega from your grandfather is the classy of the 3. I’d wear that Omega 3 times a week. I recently serviced an older Omega of mine, and when it came back from Omega, they had put it in a VERY classy box as well. Great collection of watches right here Adrian. My main question about the Apple watch would be how durable do you think it is against heavy bumps in comparison to a fully mechanical watch? And how do you feel about the watch being so tech orientated (as per phones) that you may want to upgrade every few years?

This is actually a very good three piece collection. A tool watch with an incredible amount of features, a two tone Rolex sports watch, and an heirloom vintage Omega dress watch. I can’t knock this collection. You can absolutely have an Apple Watch along with mechanical watches. They don’t cancel one another out; it’s both, not either or. How many people who own records and turntables also own iPhones? Same analogy. I own open back hi-fi headphones, along with AirPod Pros, and I see no conflict. Each tool has its own purpose.

I have the same Omega DeVille. It was a presentation watch my dad got in 1976 after 25 years at his employer. Pretty sure it's gold plate as mine has also worn down around the stem. No stop seconds, but it does have a quick date-change feature. Pull the stem out all the way, then push it in back and forth to change the date. You can also manually adjust the date by rotating the hour hand, but I thought that was a pretty cool feature. Very classy. Of all my watches (Aqua Terra, Speedmaster, Seamaster 300) this and the Speedy get the most comments.

Now you have two Rolex with 32xx series movements, have you had any issues? My SD43 is now looking like it needs its second return to RSC under warranty with lower than normal amplitude and losing time. This is well discussed on forums but I have yet to see anyone address it elsewhere. Nobody seems to know for sure if the issue with a prematurely wearing part has been properly addressed by Rolex or if they are just replacing and lubricating. I’ve lost faith in the movement now and have gone back to SD4k with 3135 movement. Curious if you’ve heard or had any experiences. Great vid as always BTW.

Apologies for the double comment but the Omega is almost certainly Gold Plated. 1. I dont know that Omega ever made a solid gold or alloy case in that time period. 2. the tarnishing is most likely the plating wearing off. If you take it to a jeweler, they can confirm and definitely, do not polish it. it will just turn 'muddy'

I think you should indeed do a video on the Rooter! Rolex has been getting quite a lot of hate lately, mainly due to the grey market activity for the last few years. The watches however, are still fantastic and are in fact quality products that deserve to be reviewed. Especially the two-tone Rootbeer, which objectively might be the best modern Rolex... still very sporty, functional, well-built, quality materials as well as just enough hype and just enough subtleness. The perfect recipe for a modern Rolex. Just my opinion.

It allows me to experience the Apple technology and still allows me to wear my mechanical watches during the day. Lots of similarities between your collection and mine. My first watch was a 1984 Rolex 34mm Gold-Shell Date (15505). I wore that watch daily for over 30 years, before I picked up a full gold 34mm Date (15238). Thats been my daily for the past five years. I just got the Apple Watch Ultra specifically because its navigation, crash detection, health sensors, tracking capabilities, and insane ability to take a beating make it the best cycling tool out there...despite what Hodinkee would have you believe about the a $5500 Bremont GMT or vintage Rolex being ideal for your next ride. As a sports watch (and I mean that as a watch for wearing while participating in sports, not as the genre of watch designs that have nothing to do with actual activities), it's unbeatable, but I hate wearing in any other situation due to the size, the design, and that my general inclination is for less digital noise in my life, not more. But if you're actually outside sweating, it's a brilliant piece of tech at a completely reasonable price.

I own a 1944 gold Omega bumper with the predecessor caliber to the 321 , the 28.10 I inherited it from my father who bought it in London during WW2 It looks very much like some of the early Seamasters and is has a 32mm. case showing 3,6,9 and 12 in applied gold arabic numerals. The other hours are marked with applied shark teeth markers( I think that is what they are called). Inside the hour number it has painted markers that mark the seconds. It was recently serviced and still keeps great time.. A question for anyone who knows is that several of the hour markers and shark teeth markers have some very minor of what looks like gold bleeding onto the dial. It is almost imperceptible, but the dial remains a pretty pristine off white. IS this from moisture getting into the case?

I usually don't like steel/gold Rolexes, but that rootbeer is indeed something different. I also kinda like the 2 tone Yachtmaster 126621 black dial,, similar yet different than the rootbeer. If I had the money I don't know which one I would snag.

Where can I find good conditioned vintage Omega watches in the UK?

I'm interested in the watch you are wearing during this video. Because I think it's your main watch.

Of those the Omega is undoubtedly the star, I think you'll find with a service it will keep much better time. On my vintage Swiss watches you will see a number like G10 for 10 microns of gold plate or G20 for 20 microns so its easy enough to tell with a loupe if its plated or solid.

    What about your new IWC?

Yeh. That was my initial thoughts. I’ve had my pilot Mk XVI for 10 years. I’ve seen one person in that time wearing an IWC on a train sat near me.. we just smiled at each other and we both knew without actually speaking just how much of a watch lover we just witnessed yet the people around us didn’t have a clue, under the radar but total class.

Dude, are you kidding? I speak for us all we love to see what watches you purchase for yourself.
And that root beer, what a stunner!
I just picked up a new bluesy. Our daughter was born last week, I also just turned 40, so wanted a real heavy hitter. Not something bland or boring (like the rest of my watches).
It also makes me smile so much wearing it.
    Something about two-tones I guess.

Omega is made of solid 14k gold. I have the same model, some of them were also made in 18k. Great piece!

It's good to see these collection videos and was great to see your Rolex Hulk and Kermit comparison videos. Quality of these are superb now also. As the Rolex Hulk is so expensive I bought a Depth Charge submariner the green one which looks very similar (but understand it isn't a rolex! lol)
Would you ever do a review of the Depth Charge Automatic Divers Watch DB106631? Would be good to get your views on this watch. Love that is has ceramic unidirectional bezel, sapphire glass, NH35A Seiko automatic movement, oyster bracelet, screwdown crown and crown guards, fairly decent lume (though not SuperLuminova)
My current beginner collection is -
    Daily - Nautica Freeboard NAPFRB001
Occasions and sometimes Daily - Depth Charge Automatic Divers Watch DB106631
Black Tie / Gala events - Seiko Sapphire Titanium 100m (SGG731 i believe...)
This any good as a beginners 3 watch collection??? Keep up the great work with the videos. Enjoy watching them!

Honestly I have an Apple Watch Series 7, and I don’t wear it often. It just doesn’t have any soul. I wear it when I run but not any other time. The Rolex and the Omega are beautiful though.
