The title is awesome! I showed my wife. You have it good, you both move at the same pace. My wife is a fitness instructor and her idea of hiking is get to the top as fast you can, take one phone pic at the top, check the step counter, drink water and head down. Meanwhile, I am stopping at every brook, laying on my belly like Josh in the video. So now-a-days she teaches classes on Saturdays and I hike. Good stuff as always.
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours… so well done and super interesting. Thanks for a video that’s about your content and not about sponsors. I know sponsors make everyone money, but it’s gotten so bad with some folks that we just stopped watching some of them because of their infomercials. On to the positive… I look forward to seeing more!
Great video. Loved your footage of the Canyon and Rock Wrens. My wife Shela feels just about the same as Katie does when we are out photographing wildlife and exploring. Its never the destination that counts, it's about the journey😁
You bloody beautiful people! I make sure I don’t miss a video from y’all. Happy to see your wife has started to share her thoughts too. Lots of love from India.
Josh and Katie… Thank you for this AWESOME video. I felt you were hiking with me. Everything you two do hiking/photographing made me feel that I was doing this ALL right👍🏻 I live in Montana and 15 minutes out my door is a world of Beautiful birds, flowers, rocks and landscapes. Thank you again for the “Perfect” video👍🏻❤️
All my friends are trekkers. I do join them rather I have to join them. Its the bond. So when we trek , I look for birds, walk slow, and get bashed by them. But they are my biggest supporters. They even carry my camera when it gets tough for me. Last month we did a snow trek in a birding hotspot. Unfortunately we didn't encountered any bird due to snowfall. My friends carried my 3kg kit as I was affected by Altitude. They went ahead and reached destination. I arrived later. I got to see Alpine accentor bird and because my friends helped me , I was able to photograph the bird. So I say its not good for hikers to be with Bird photographer but its definitely good for us.

Sorry for that Jim there’s a lot of spam going around my channel lately. Unless it says my name on the side, don’t reply to it. It’s tons of spam. We apologize.
Hmmm? You’ve been speaking with my wife, haven’t you? She’ll say it sucks to hike with me if she sees too much camera gear, usually assessed by the appearance of a longer lens…and try concealing a tripod…if she sees that, I’m toast. Therefore, we often do reach our destination coz we’re actually hiking. All good though. Even without the camera, it’s always good to be out…and you know if you don’t have your camera, you’re gonna see something special. 😆 Happy Easter guys and thanks as always.

Oh yay! I’m so glad you liked it. I saw it in the theater when it first came out. Very sad but beautiful story. I am a mega fan of Robert Redford. I can’t believe it! That’s so awesome that he was taught by your BIL! Now I can say I know a guy who knows a guy that knows Robert Redford. I love it.
I get it. I have been given the name of Lone Wolf by my family because I chose to drive alone and burn my own gas rather go with a family group in one vehicle to hiking areas. Maybe a 20 mile drive from the valley home to the Continental Divide trails. At the end of the hike, they load up and get back home as fast as possible. The Lone Wolf putts back down 20 miles of forest stopping at every view and to watch and shoot every critter. None of the others get that. I am on vacation at a special place I seldom see. The Lone Wolf will get back to home base much, much, later :) I hope they like what's on tv.
We were at the overlook you photographed at 7:30 into your video. Our 1 year old dog almost took a dive over the rocks into the canyon below. My wife’s strength and strong grip on his lead saved his life.

Very interesting adding your wife’s perspective/commentary. Really cool. I find that I have to put my camera away if I am actually trying to reach a goal. Lol
@@BayouJosh I can’t seem to do it very often either. Usually I just bring my dog and having a 100lb Rhodesian Ridgeback pulling on my arm all the time makes it tough to take pics. Lol
Omg loved this video, too funny. Had to get my husband to watch it, as I am the one slowing us down all the time on our hikes to take pictures. He definitely had a chuckle! Most of the time he is fascinated at all the little things I spot to take pictures of. As a photographer your eyes are always looking for that little bird or how the colour or texture of the bark looks on a particular tree. Really a million different things…… so many fascinating things to discover if you just slow down to see them!
It's either a photography trip or a friends trip, it can never be both. If you go out with friends, enjoy time with friends because unless they are just as crazy about photos as yourself, they will make you miserable. I have given up on camera + friends.
I just found your You Tube channel, and this video. The two of you sound a little bit like my wife and me. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this. It made a refreshing, relaxed, and dare I say, more philosophical, alternative to the usual fare of gung-ho landscape photography channels full of advice, bravado and just a little too much "noise" for my advancing (age related) taste. Anyway, cheers for the trip. I enjoyed it, and will return for more. Oh, and I agree, it's all about the moments along the way.
I like your style and sense of humor. I know the feeling as we do that too - walk a bit and then stop to look at the surroundings. Have a great weekend!

what a perfect life -= not 100% but - 100% as you WISH IT TO BE = would love to take up Katie's offer of joining you on a hike - but - from Ecuador (home) is a long trip for me.
All the experiences and memories you gain whilst the “hikers” return to base saying they had a great time. Ask them what they saw, hmm, well errrr etc. you’re the ones who have gained so much, thanks for the video, Josh 👍🏼
Anything that gets people outdoors is awesome, but I do like our leisurely hikes best of all. We occasionally "book it." :) I hope you are having a wonderful day, Roger. :)
Found that some hikers might as well be on track in a field. I used to do that... and you miss so much. To be fair, its just a different way to enjoy being outside, but a amble of .5 mile gives a photographer, nature lover is an accomplishment.
True! There have been many hikes where the focus was calorie burning. Occasionally, we both want one of those kinds of hikes for sure. Gotta keep those legs strong for mountain climbing.
This a a style of video all it’s own. It definitely has its own identity, and it is very cool! The narrative and the sounds, especially the Wrens, is almost ‘ Zen like. ‘ I think this is a winning style/ format you should focus more on, no pun. Just my 2 $ Stay safe and Healthy and Happy Shooting! 👍👍👍✌🏻😁🇺🇸📷📷
This video reminded of the line Charles Kuralt used to use to end his 60 Minutes segments: "I heard about a story just up ahead. I kinda hope I never get there." Stay safe !
LOL!! You and Katie sound just like Joel and I! Yeah, nobody wants to hike with us either! lol Yet, going through our photos at the end of the day, makes up for us not having human hiking buddies. Our two pups do fill that gap, though.
My wife is just starting to get used to me going slower and stopping frequently for photos, video and b-roll. A hike that would take most people 20-30 minutes can take us 3-4 hours easily. It is a balance as she isn't a photographer, but I think she is coming around slowly 🙂
I used to wander off when Josh stopped in one place for a while. It never bothers me when he stops because I don't feel like I have to. I can keep going and then backtrack to him.
Great to see you and Katie again this week. Love to have been able to come along with the two of you on another adventure camera in hand. Katie's segment is enjoyable again, it's nice to see things from her perspective as well. Have a Great week and we will see you both next week.

would love to take up Katie's offer of joining you on a hike - but - from Ecuador (home) is a long trip for me.
thanks brother. we are having a blast.
you guys are 100% frickin awesome, thanks so much !!!
You’re awesome Marshal! 😀
Thank you so very kindly, Marshal. I hope you are having a wonderful day.
All the experiences and memories you gain whilst the “hikers” return to base saying they had a great time. Ask them what they saw, hmm, well errrr etc. you’re the ones who have gained so much, thanks for the video, Josh 👍🏼
So True Roger. Thanks brother.
Anything that gets people outdoors is awesome, but I do like our leisurely hikes best of all. We occasionally "book it." :) I hope you are having a wonderful day, Roger. :)
Thank you for taking me along in your hikes! It brings me more joy than you can imagine! This one actually brought me to tears!
Thank you so much for joining us Dusty. It is a wonderful hobby!
Found that some hikers might as well be on track in a field. I used to do that... and you miss so much.
To be fair, its just a different way to enjoy being outside, but a amble of .5 mile gives a photographer, nature lover is an accomplishment.
Very true!
Just my 2 $
Stay safe and Healthy and Happy Shooting! 👍👍👍✌🏻😁🇺🇸📷📷
thanks George. It is my favorite type of video to make.
"The journey is the destination"
truth! 😉
Great content and I always look forward to experiencing your outings.
Glad you like them Sean. thank you.
Good story!!
Thank you Philip
This video reminded of the line Charles Kuralt used to use to end his 60 Minutes segments: "I heard about a story just up ahead. I kinda hope I never get there." Stay safe !
I love that quote! I might have to steal that one from you! 😊❤️🌈🦋☮️🐿🦚
That’s interesting! I need to look that up. I love that quote.
I say never hike with those who can't see these beautiful creatures or let u enjoy... You'll always be in peace while taking photographs 😀
Well said.
LOL!! You and Katie sound just like Joel and I! Yeah, nobody wants to hike with us either! lol Yet, going through our photos at the end of the day, makes up for us not having human hiking buddies. Our two pups do fill that gap, though.
😃 The birds are our friends. Who needs friends to hike with? 😄
@@BayouJosh LOL!!
I really look forward to your videos! You and Katie are such excellent storytellers!
You’re very kind Patricia. Thank you so much.
My wife is just starting to get used to me going slower and stopping frequently for photos, video and b-roll. A hike that would take most people 20-30 minutes can take us 3-4 hours easily. It is a balance as she isn't a photographer, but I think she is coming around slowly 🙂
It’s shocking to some hikers how much is photographers dawdle
I used to wander off when Josh stopped in one place for a while. It never bothers me when he stops because I don't feel like I have to. I can keep going and then backtrack to him.
Great to see you and Katie again this week. Love to have been able to come along with the two of you on another adventure camera in hand. Katie's segment is enjoyable again, it's nice to see things from her perspective as well. Have a Great week and we will see you both next week.
Thank you Rob. It has been such a treat to get Katie involved. she is a great story teller.
