Totally true. Very humble and zero attitude. That was the first day I ever met him and it seemed like we had been friends for forever. Genuine dude all around.
Hey Brett, my guitar playing was stagnant for 10 years until I started learning from you, also covid lockdown helped haha, just wouldn't feel right if I didn't say thanks forever man, no one else has been able to teach me much at all, love you man
I knew I wanted your gearbox cuz Wampler is the absolute best to my ears! I didn’t know I wanted your compressor until this video! You rock man thanks for the killer tracks and amazing tones!
My cousins have a local band and now we're having live shows again I been going out to see them whenever they're local. They will often play a night with several other bands in one night. I was looking at the other guys rig while they were setting up and saw he had a Wampler Gearbox on his board. I asked him about it and he plugged up and let me noodle around on it while they were sound checking. So good! Brian Wampler is a mad scientist of the pedal world. I don't know what kind of sorcery is in that thing, but I want it.
Fantastic playing, review and the in deep about the compressor and the killer Gearbox!!!I can speak about the orange drive.I received 2 weeks ago and to me is an absolutely winner pedal for guitarist!!!Super smart design, exquisite tone quality and maybe one i of the most practical thing made in a long time!!!!it is a game changer!!! Hands down to Andy and Brian!! Brett, please man…We need you to review the Gearbox!!!!You will love it!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Totally get the reverb thing. I took my Strymon Flint off to use a HOF Mini to save space. That lasted about 2 gigs. The little things, right. And the Gearbox rooted out my AT@ pedal out of its spot. The mid frequency and control range on the gearbox is the best I’ve heard on a Marshall in a box pedal. Great video, guys.
Yeah a good reverb pedal is tough to beat regardless of the price. They are definitely not all created equal! The Gearbox is fantastic and I need to get my hands on one asap!
"What if I get a JCM 2000..." That's my amp - the TSL602. I do want a Suhr Bella with a 2x12 cab. Love my Woodshed comp and my Gearbox - awesome pedals. You have some great videos but this is your best without question - if only because I'm a huge Andy Wood fan. He's incredible.
New subscriber here, I been studying guitar for the last year or so, and learned more from you, Ben Eller, Steve Stine and Rick Beato, Brian Kelly, Tim Peirce. However your approach emphasizes learning the ability to see the chord shapes across the fretboard. It turned on a light in my brain, as far as trying to be melodic. Scales are great but more for fill/color while chasing chords around. Thanks Brett, I don't subscribe all willy nilly to people these days, but you deserve it man. Get that RUclips revenue! Lmao thanks for the great content.
Wow thanks Jeremy! Just met Ben for the first time at an event the other night! Great dude. I love Rick's stuff too very cool! Thanks for the sub and checking out the vids!
I go back to Dan Huff when he ultra gain but clean on many of his tones. You are so right about reverbs or delays. They can be tone stealers. Love those Thornbuckers! So warm yet chunky.
This is spectacular, aural and technical sorcery. BTW I remember you Papa Stache, long ago when I learnt Pink Floyd's Coming Back To Life! Thank you for featuring such a virtuoso, and no doubt Brian Wampler is a genius too.
I really like the woodshed enhancement pedal sound. At that low volume there was quite a bit of noise though. At times. Little nervous about dropping so much if my rig would have that high of noise. Now, Papa is a high energy guy... but A.W. is one of the few guests he's had on that seems to drink even MORE coffee lol!
I know I'm a little late to the party, but I have to tell you, that this demo made me order a "Gearbox" this morning. What a great pedal! And if I understand it correctly, it does immediately make you play as well as Andy? 😉
Great video guys. I bought the gearbox based on his video and man I really love it! I’m gonna likely pick up his compressor too. If I could only buy some of his talent haha
I watched this vidio over and over, never get tired of it, I feel I was in the room with them just guitar nuts like me. No resemblance with talent or ability just love guitar geeks talking guitar, love it. Thanks. Both of you for making it so enjoyable..
Cheers for this, first time seeing Andy and his sound idea seems like what I have been striving for under the banner part time electric guitar enthusiast since 1975. Is the key what you guys call low output pickups and if so is this strat like tele like thing? Thanks again.
Compression is the most misunderstood effect of all time. Good explanation! His ratio is kept somewhat low which doesn’t “oversquash” as he said. Recently saw a PRS Comp🤔
Great demo! Have you gotten to try the v1 deluxe Pinnacle side by side to the Pinnacle side of the Wampler Gearbox? Just want to know if you can get the same sounds in the Gearbox as the v1 deluxe. I had the v2 deluxe Pinnacle and liked the Gearbox’s Pinnacle sound better. I heard v2 pinnacle used different parts than version 1 that changed the sound a bit.
sahahahweeet!! papa gets the best!! Thanks for bringing andy on!! love his style!! I love your's too papa! hope you don't mind me calling you papa!! lol
Hope the pink Nash hasn't fallen out of favor I just picked up a six and a half pound super faded shell pink beauty If you didn't know you wouldn't even think it was pink # 11 in the Troposphere Limited edition series One of master luthier Paul Waller's projects and I hate to say it but I'm really liking the hard tail as opposed to my 65 standard trem lol for now anyways Hey got to have a maple and a rosewood right?? Great sounding pedal guys Monster demo
Andy, I'm a 70 year old mediocre guitarist who started playing at the age of twelve. Then four years ago, because I wasted my time and chances I caused my own stroke and God took away my left arm and any ability to play for three months. thanks to watching this video, I put away all my guitars and I'm not going to pursue it anymore. this not because of you, your a phenomenal guitarist. I don't deserve to pick a guitar up or be in the same room with them. I just finally woke up to my disability and excepted it.
Hey Bret I know this is a hard question to answer ,but who is one of ur favourite players ,out of all the players that you got learn from, on ur channel or Top 3? Thanks
Oh geez that is a tough one. They are all so good. Short answer is I like them all. I'm super into what the session guys do that is I think what I'd most like to be able to play like. Even though he hasn't been on if I could get half as good as Tom Bukovac I'd be happy lol! Of people I've had on if I could have the fire of Guthrie Trapp, Rob McNelley, and Ryan Wariner I be pretty pumped. The polish of Tim Pierce would be pretty great! But again I really do like them all and that is why I bring them on!
Nice video Brett and Andy!
Thank ya sir!
Tim Pierce! You sir are awesome as well! Subscriber here!
My jaw literally fell on the floor twice, once when I heard his playing, and again when I listened to his tone. That is some heavenly tone!!!!
For sure! Absolutely agree!
Andy seems like the most humble dude around for someone with INSANE skills. His Tone is like melted butter... greezy and smooth!!
Totally true. Very humble and zero attitude. That was the first day I ever met him and it seemed like we had been friends for forever. Genuine dude all around.
If Andy Wood keeps practicing he might be a decent player in a few years.
😂
Andy is the tone master. Oh I wish if, just once I the tail of the get a tone like that. The sssmmmooottthh sustain, and the tail of the echo
Sorry folks. I messed up my comment and sent it before I meant to. Just love everything he dose. God bless you Andy
I love Andy, he's such a great player, you can hear the Eric Johnson in him. Great video Brett.
For sure! Thanks for watching Mark!
Hey Brett, my guitar playing was stagnant for 10 years until I started learning from you, also covid lockdown helped haha, just wouldn't feel right if I didn't say thanks forever man, no one else has been able to teach me much at all, love you man
Oh man that is awesome to hear Dale! Thanks so much for checking out the vids and the kind words!
Love how that compressor changes the presence of the guitar.
Andy Wood is not normal. Love this guy's intellect and crazy guitar abilities!
I know he is a talented bird for sure!
I knew I wanted your gearbox cuz Wampler is the absolute best to my ears! I didn’t know I wanted your compressor until this video! You rock man thanks for the killer tracks and amazing tones!
Thanks for watching!
Brett smiles pretty continuously when Andy is playing, and demo’ing tones. Fun.
Was a blast!!
Great video! Love me some AW & Brett. Need to get Pete Thorn, Andy Wood & Phil-X in for an EVH geek-out fest... that would be fun!
Haha that would be epic!!

Haha for sure. Andy is awesome and yes Brian is a sorcerer!
I have a couple of Andy's True Fire courses. He's a phenomenal player and an incredible teacher.
Yep I agree!
That tone is INSANELY GOOD!!!
Yeah it really is awesome!

Thanks! I'll see what I can do about getting my hands on one.
Thanks for doing this it was absolutely awesome!!!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
You are welcome Charles! Round 2 coming soon!
Hey Brett. Nice video with Andy. Are both of those Suhr T-style guitars his signature models, but just different PU configurations?
Totally get the reverb thing. I took my Strymon Flint off to use a HOF Mini to save space. That lasted about 2 gigs. The little things, right. And the Gearbox rooted out my AT@ pedal out of its spot. The mid frequency and control range on the gearbox is the best I’ve heard on a Marshall in a box pedal. Great video, guys.
Yeah a good reverb pedal is tough to beat regardless of the price. They are definitely not all created equal! The Gearbox is fantastic and I need to get my hands on one asap!
I have an Andy Wood Suhr Compressor. It is awesome I highly recommend it
Awesome!

All day, every day. I'm sold
Andy is awesome and so is his gear!

Dan is the man! Yeah those pickups sound great!
hells to the "yeah" that was good! AW is a beast...
Yep for sure!
Killer Tone & Playing! Thank-you Guys.
Thanks for checking it out Dave!
Incredible player
For sure!
Great vid and playing Mr. Wood! Your tone and playing is inspirational !!
This is spectacular, aural and technical sorcery. BTW I remember you Papa Stache, long ago when I learnt Pink Floyd's Coming Back To Life! Thank you for featuring such a virtuoso, and no doubt Brian Wampler is a genius too.
Sure thing! Andy is amazing!
@@BrettPapa you too, thanks for the guitar lessons
Awesome video. Just got my Suhr alt T with Thornbuckers and love it.. thanks for the inspiration to do even more
Thats awesome Byron! Those guitars are great!
He and Timmons have the best ears for signature pedals. They shine in live settings.
Yep they definitely know what's up!
Lol! His pedal has a built in noise gate I believe. So noise shouldn't be a problem.
Andy is the man! Wish I could afford that Suhr with the Thornbuckers!
Yep! Great guitar!!
oh man, what a bunch of great tones!!
For sure!

Always informative. Much respect...
Thanks Michael!
So awesome Brett I dig Andy so much and how cool Tim pierce is commenting 10 outta 10
Thanks Doug! Got some more Andy stuff coming soon! Yeah Tim and I go way back. Good dude!
Cheers for this, first time seeing Andy and his sound idea seems like what I have been striving for under the banner part time electric guitar enthusiast since 1975. Is the key what you guys call low output pickups and if so is this strat like tele like thing? Thanks again.
Awesome! Low output pickups really do help a lot. Singles or hum buckers. All of my pickups are low output.
Compression is the most misunderstood effect of all time. Good explanation! His ratio is kept somewhat low which doesn’t “oversquash” as he said. Recently saw a PRS Comp🤔
YES, the OLD Carl Martin big ass block one is awesome. By buddy has one & im so jelly! good luck finding one!
This was a great video. Andy is so damn good
Yes he is. Truly terrifying!
Andy couldn’t make the guitar sound bad if he tried. He’s THAT good.
Pretty much!
Great demo! Have you gotten to try the v1 deluxe Pinnacle side by side to the Pinnacle side of the Wampler Gearbox? Just want to know if you can get the same sounds in the Gearbox as the v1 deluxe. I haven't tried them side by side. Pinnacles are awesome! I liked both versions.
@@BrettPapa thank you!
@@BrettPapa Did you prefer one version over the other?
Where u buy the Woodstock compress
Amazing tone
Agreed!
Love these videos!!
Thanks for checking them out!
One of the best players on the PLANET!!!
For sure!
Amazing player
For sure!
Brett, is he using the Delay in front of the amp? Thx
Yes
Interesting, it doesn’t get in the way of the distorted signal at all. Seems to be a very good delay
OK,, but does the gate knob work on the Tumnus side too? gotta ask.
Not sure. Hit up and on his Insta.
Great video Brett, what amp / speaker was Andy plugged into?
No speaker it was into a UA OX. I believe he was using a Divided by 13 JTR9/15 although it could have been my BTR23.
@@BrettPapa Thanks Brett, looks like the BTR as the JTR appears to be on standby. What speaker do you use with the BTR23 on UA OX? Sounds incredible!
Great video!
Thanks Max!
Anyone know which model Divide/13 the amp was in this? Thanks!
I think Andy was plugged into the BTR23. If not that then it was the JRT9/15. Pretty sure it was the BTR though.
@@BrettPapa Thanks Brett! I appreciate the reply
Andy Wood💪💪💪one of the BEST out there!!!!
For sure!
Hey Brett, You and Andy look like brothers!! If you grow your hair a little you will be twins!!😎
Lol!
Just WOW!
Haha pretty much!
sahahahweeet!! papa gets the best!! Thanks for bringing andy on!! love his style!! I love your's too papa! hope you don't mind me calling you papa!! lol

Haha! Love both of my Nash guitars and I will never get rid of them! Sounds like you got a winner!
Am l the only person that noticed AW’s blue jean jacket? 🤔 how’s he rolling the sleeves up like that. I think it’s key to playing his stuff. 😂
Haha! Whatever it is he is doing to play like that is working lol!
I just bought the woodshed
Awesome!
First! Love the mini board.
Such a great little board!
@@BrettPapa I have all of these pedals. could you please tell me in more detail how they are connected?
Andy, I'm a 70 year old mediocre guitarist who started playing at the age of twelve.
