It's funny; I'm actually the polar opposite of your take on grunt suits. I love 'em. Zakus, GMs, Goufs, Doms, pretty much most of the mass-produced suits from the One Year War era are my favorites. Most of the fancier, prototype or current style of MS don't really appeal to me as much *cough SEED, 00, etc*. I'm a OYW fan all the way. haha. I just like the "grittiness" of grunt suits, most of the "star" suits feel almost too Super Fighting Robot-y for me; I like the military realism of mass produced models. With that said, Kampfer is ABSOLUTELY my second favorite suit of all time, after Gouf. haha. I'm strange like that.
I'm the same man, I love the grunt suits. My personal favorite is the Zaku line. My favorite Zaku is the Zaku I Sniper Type and/or Zaku Mariner. I've collected the Gelgoog Jager and Cannon. Zaku II F2, Zudah, Zaku I and Zaku I Sniper type, and Zaku Mariner, and Zaku III. Believe me, I like my protagonist style suits, I've got all 3 Blue Destiny units, out of all the Gundams, my favorite are the Blue Destiny Units. But I LOVE ZAKUS, DOMS, GELGOOGS, ZUDAHS, ETC. I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THEM.
I love grunt suits. It conveys a certain realism to a military's arsenal of standardised equipment and weaponary. Plus there are lots of different grunt suits in the Gundam universe.
I love how you posed the gun-dog lunging and attacking the Kempher Amazing while the Sniper is hiding behind a wall. Now I am going to order the two kits just to do that pose. I Loved it!!!
Personally I absolutely adore grunt suits/mechs. They have this utilitarian look to them and love giant robots with that slightly realistic feel. They're also great for making custom kits out of, especially with the Grazes/Reginlaze from IBO.
Grunt suits are great for tabletop wargamers like me. When choosing mechs for my 15mm armies I usually want something that (with a little paint if necessary) could look like it was built for that army. The only time I've actually went for one with the "gundam look" was the Barbatos, and that's because it was perfect for my space samurai army.
Personally I love grunt suits. Yeah, the more advanced prototypes look cool, but the grunt suits always feel so real, and given that gundam is THE real robot anime, it's very fitting. Favorite Grunt Suit: IBO Graze or maybe the GM cannon
I first was not fond of grunt suits until I force myself to get a Zaku just for the sake of having it. I bought Zaku 2 minelayer (zaku 2.0 variations) and now i freaking love grunt suits. My favourite grunt suit ate Jesta and zaku 2 just because they are the good grunt suit at the moment as there aren't many grunt suit mg release.
I love me some grunt suits, I tend to find they are the most uncomplicated kits and allow for great customisations. I also enjoy that most grunt suits share very similar construction, and allow for easy kitbashing options plus they are usually cheap.
Very good review! 👍 I just bought this kit as I'm making a squad of federation grunts starting with Jestas. I'm not too interested in the plain old GMs, but the military style mobile suits with tons of gear are more my style than the flamboyant primary coloured Gundams.
I love the Grunt suits. the GM's and the Zaku's are some of my favorite models. thanks for sharing this Vid. my GM Sniper K9 is in the mail right now. can't wait for it to arrive.
The GM Sniper II is personally my favorite NON Gundam MS overall. I was a huge fan of the Return to Ashes game for the dreamcast and fell in love with the White Dingo squadron. I'm actually currently building a modefied GM Sniper K9. I'm not using the dog pack or main beam sniper, I'm actually repainting the entire unit to be more of an UP armored White Dingoes GM Sniper. I'll let you know how it comes out.
I like this design. It’s more militaristic than other designs for this show. It’s takes a more mature look then the miracle-jousting from the main characters.
Considering this kit is the same price, in my area, as the kit it is based off of. So this kit is good value, and lends itself to a good customizable build.
I fixed that problem with the hostler and leg connection by trimming off most of the plastic on the hostler that is between the two leg parts and then glued what was left on to the leg itself and made it so much better but that was my one problem with that kit as well
I'm liking the channel so far V3. Depends on what you mean by grunt and what grunt. If we're talking about mass production suits, favorites include the Hygogg, GM, Zakus, Ball, Tieren, Leo, and Genoace. If we're talking anything that isn't a Gundam or a main villain suit, then they're what I live and breath when it comes to Gundam designs. Though, I don't like the looks of Gundams in the first place, so it kinda irks me that it's the Gundams that seem to get all the experimentation and gimmicks in much of the AU shows.
i normally hate grunt suits but when i saw this one in the anime it became a fav for me like char zaku because it wasn't just a grunt.it was special and i can get some pretty good posses with it for snipping but you have to switch out the what looks like ammon pack skirts for the original gm front skirts and it fixed the problem.im thinking about buying two more and making a diorama around them and k9 units lol
personally i love grunt suits slightly more than the over the top hero mechs. I find that the mass production qualities of the designs lend them selves better to customization. I love gundam mobile suits too but because they'er already so unique I cant see anyone other than the in show hero as being the pilot, this just brings down the will to customize the suit. Not every one can start out in a state of the art mary sue god suit, you gotta love the trained solders that have to make due with the suits they get and rely on their training, over technology.
I far and away prefer grunt mobile suits to the constantly over the top flashy Gundams. Call me crazy, but for a what is known as the grandfather of the real robots mech genre I tend to feel Gundam leans more in favor of super robots with their massively overpowered beam weapons, nigh indestructible armor, and consistency for placing these machines in the hands of youths who are either exceptionally well trained for their age, are up and coming espers, or worse yet BOTH!
I personally love grunt suits. I've always loved the GMs and GM variant suits. I'd love a HG of the Leo from Wing but I'm afraid if it were made it'd immediately explode in my hands.
I'm not really into Gundam, but I fucking love the grunt suit designs. A lot of them are really clean and reflect their purpose nicely. I've kinda got a thing for unsung heroes if that doesn't describe people who get blown to bits by the truckload just so the background can look busy, I don't know what does.
Hi there Type V3. I don't know if you remember me, but you gave me some advice on your Fenice review and since then, I've built a few Gundams :) I would just like to know, what do you use for panel lining? Do you do any other type of detailing on these kits? Thanks
I personally like grunt suits. Though I do wish they would get some more love and action in the animes. My personal favourites include: The Adele (Gundam AGE); The Jegan series (Char Counterattack, Gundam Unicorn); The GM III (Char Counterattack, Gundam Unicorn); The Geara Doga (Char Counterattack, Gundam Unicorn); The M1 Astray (Gundam SEED, SEED Destiny) and; The GN-X series (Gundam 00, Gundam 00 Awakening of the Trailblazer)
I like modified grunt suits like the TTT that's also the reason why I like build fighters because it just brings in more variations of suit designs. (still waiting for the gaplant 0' fiver and the hrududu bandai still waiting XD)
Hmm, that issue with the ammo-packs on the thigh, think that could be solved by sanding down the plate that holds them on? It looks like they're a good couple of millimetres thicker than they need to be.
They're actually really thin as it is. The front part of the plate is thicker than the part that sits around the leg joint. I ended up thickening the connection and that made it better.
***** Ah, my bad... must have been the angle of the shot I was looking at. Thought it's good to know a fix is available. On a different subject... what do you think the chances are of a Tallgeese based fighter this season? :'P
***** Did you just call me love? :'3 Aaaaanyway... that's a shame as it would be a great excuse for a new HG kit. The existing HG Tallgeese kits are pretty old now. The MG is awesome I hear, but not something I can afford right now.
Do you use clear coat spray for your kits and if so what kind do you recommend? Also totally love how you had the K9 mauling the Kampfer Amazing. That was pretty funny.
my opinion is variant depending on the suits themselves and what their capabilities are but honestly, im always a fan of sniper grunts because i always prefered long distance than up close so the sniper grunts i find as a gundam version as myself i suppose, also where do you get your models from?
So, I have a question. He comes with the backpack. Why is it sold separately then? I just ordered mine and I'm excited but confused about the backpack.
It has it limitations but to a builder it could become the start for a great build. The leg holster could be mod. removing the attachment to the leg and directly attach it to the leg or mod that same part with plasticard using the original shape and resolving that issue.
Oh for sure, every kit - no matter what it's current state - can always be improved with a little effort and creativity. All I'm trying to show is exactly what you get out of the box.
Wow. A bullpup, sniper rifle, and what appears to be a HUGE AMR? This guy is packing some serious heat! That aside, I absolutely _adore_ grunt suits. All the fancy, flashy-ass Gundams like the Destiny, Strike Freedom and Wing Zero just feel so tacky and overbearing to me. Nothing beats the simplicity of the GMs, which feel a lot more grounded and realistic. That's why The 08th MS was the only Gundam series that I ever watched to the end after the original series... though I'm considering checking out Iron-Blooded Orphans 'cause that show's non-Gundam Mobile Suits look pretty damn sweet, too.
I personally like the grunt suits too be honest I liked the grunt suits because of the gm ground type,gm sniper 2,gm quel, gouf, dom, kampfer, guncannon, and gm cannon but because of my all time favorite 4 in grunt suits 2 for federation and 2 for zeon the gm sniper, the Stark Jegan, the Kampfer, and the dom test type I started liking them more
Alex Dalton I did not actually use the sharpies on a full model. The micron pens seem much better in quality when testing on paper and have a finer point. I found them at my local hobby store. If not there are plenty available online. I used the .005 sized pens. I'd advise getting multiple because they run out fast. You can buy them in bulk for cheaper here: www.amazon.com/Sakura-30081-Micron-Blister-0-20-mm/dp/B001CRI6O2
Where do you buy these models because I'm going to start building soon, but I don't know where to buy the models from. Also, will the GM Sniper 2 backpack thruster be able to be compatible with this kit?
+cventuranoe29 You could search for local gunpla vendors near you, a quick internet search coud net you a few places near where you live (just keep an eye out for unfair pricing). Or if you feel more comfortable buying online, there are several distributors you could choose from. A few sites like amiami, hlj, and gundamplanet may be what you are looking for but of course there are many more sites you could get them from.
also the stickers are hard to put on since the stickers are small the head could get some improvement cause I would be happy to have the head able to look up also a problem is that most weapons only are usable on 1 hand the shield would keep falling off my gmail sniper k9s arm but I think is because I had It to loose so I would rate the gm sniper k9 on a scale of 1to 10 would be a 6 though it is really amazing th e backpack/ hound is good
I honestly think that "I personally don't like grunt suits" seems like a hypocritical argument, as about 90% of the MS in the Universal Century of Gundam and beyond are basically grunt suits. Even the leads of many shows are basically grunts. RX-78-2 Gundam? Well, you have a series of RX-78's that go from 1-5, not counting the tens of variants of the regular RX-78-2. RX-77-2 Guncannon? That was literally mass produced in the movies. Hayato ditches his Guntank for a Guncannon in Movie 2. MS-06S, -14S, MSM-07S, etc. Char's Custom "whatever"? Those are the prime example of being copy and pasted material. Kampfer? Well, that's a mass-produced suit. Every kit of the Kampfer specifies that. MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam? OK, that was not intentionally mass produced, but having the "White Zeta" around is a huge bump on things. MSZ-010 ZZ Gundam? Mega ZZ's got you covered buddy! So what's my point with this trivial list that in all honesty is pretty pointless? Well, I do think that you are a bit too harsh with the GM Sniper K9's design. Yes, people have their personal tastes, but blaming the design issue on being a "grunt suit" is really hypocritical in my opinion when you claim that the Kampfer Amazing is one of your favorites despite also being a complete grunt. While I too am not a K9 fan, I am a fan of grunt suits, and I don't think that you blaming your dislike of the K9's design on it originating from a grunt suit is justified.
+Yaoyao9 (リーフちゃん) i heard that the term gundam isn't really explained all that well. The Hazel Gundams aren't really Gundams, they'er just souped up GM Quells with Gundam[G] heads. to me the definition of gundam is the series term used for the main mobile suit/suits in the series usually a prototype suit or a one off high performance suit, like the akatsuki that kagali pilots near the end of seed destiny. the suit doesn't have the same G.U.N.D.A.M display on start up like the ones created by the earth forces or by zaft, but i would still readily call it the akatski gundam.
It's funny; I'm actually the polar opposite of your take on grunt suits. I love 'em. Zakus, GMs, Goufs, Doms, pretty much most of the mass-produced suits from the One Year War era are my favorites. With that said, Kampfer is ABSOLUTELY my second favorite suit of all time, after Gouf. haha. I'm strange like that.
+Todd Renstrom (SD Dragon) Totally. Took the words outta me mouth!
Yup.
I really like the RX-79(G)
I'm the same man, I love the grunt suits. My personal favorite is the Zaku line. My favorite Zaku is the Zaku I Sniper Type and/or Zaku Mariner.

I am a total fanbear of any Zeon Grunt suits. Even special versions of their grunt suits, like Shin Matsunaga's High Mobility type.
Grunt suits aren't so bad, I personally love the JEGAN ECOAS cause of its tactical appearance and its weapons.
I love grunt suits. It conveys a certain realism to a military's arsenal of standardised equipment and weaponary.
Plus there are lots of different grunt suits in the Gundam universe.
I love grunt suits personally. They can provide the best motivation to customization!
1:39 IS THAT A JOBBY REFERANCE!?
I love how you posed the gun-dog lunging and attacking the Kempher Amazing while the Sniper is hiding behind a wall. Now I am going to order the two kits just to do that pose. I Loved it!!!
1:39 SWIVEL HERE!!! Ok obligatory meme done
jobby the hong
I like grunt suits when they're custom made for their pilots, cause they're usually simple and cool but that just gives it more personality
Depends on the design of the 'grunt suit' I guess, GMs have never really done it for me but most of Zeon's MP units I like.
Personally I absolutely adore grunt suits/mechs. They have this utilitarian look to them and love giant robots with that slightly realistic feel. They're also great for making custom kits out of, especially with the Grazes/Reginlaze from IBO.
I have this kit. Pretty good build plus I love the fact it's a customized grunt suit.

Cameron MacDonald can you make a video please please.
Grunt suits are my bread and butter. Get it?Because they're so common.
grunt suits are my favs, more realistic and capture my imagination
Personally I love grunt suits. Yeah, the more advanced prototypes look cool, but the grunt suits always feel so real, and given that gundam is THE real robot anime, it's very fitting.
Favorite Grunt Suit: IBO Graze or maybe the GM cannon
Im sorry but I think this kit needs a mg counterpart
Every suit needs an MG version. Sadly, it will never happen.
Well, now it's 2017 and there's a mg sniper II. It's a pretty good kit
looks like masterchief i love this kit so much
Honestly, the Geara Zulu and the Jesta are the best grunt suits \
I agree!!
I love grunt suits most of my collection is grunts and build fighters models
I first was not fond of grunt suits until I force myself to get a Zaku just for the sake of having it. I bought Zaku 2 minelayer (zaku 2.0 variations) and now i freaking love grunt suits. The one time I actually like a grunt suit
Very good review! 👍
I just bought this kit as I'm making a squad of federation grunts starting with Jestas.
I'm not too interested in the plain old GMs, but the military style mobile suits with tons of gear are more my style than the flamboyant primary coloured Gundams.
now that we are getting a mastergrade GM sniper ll I hope we might get this as at least a p-bandai from it.
Wireless_Phantom but what about the robo-dog
max chavez i figure itd be part of the release
I love the Grunt suits. the GM's and the Zaku's are some of my favorite models. thanks for sharing this Vid. my GM Sniper K9 is in the mail right now. can't wait for it to arrive.

Gm Sniper K9 is like the weapon starter pack. Good for people who needs weapons
One of my favourite mobile suits from the Gundam Build Fighters franchise !
Great review bro!!! I absolutely love this suit...
for me grunt suits are like Pokémon, gotta catch 'em all
so, are you gonna be the very best? Like, no one ever was?
is catching them your real test?
is training them your cause?
This mobile suit reminds me of the ARL-99 Helldiver from the Patlabor series.
Still great review man and im definitely getting this!
I think that grunt are needed in any show, for examples like explosions. But they can be strong units in tough situations.
I like this design. It’s more militaristic than other designs for this show. It’s takes a more mature look then the miracle-jousting from the main characters.
I keep watching videos of the GM Sniper K9 because it is just a great combination of amazing. I wish it was a MG though, I love the 1/100 models.
It's probably one of the more unique GMs!
I have always liked GMs and the Ground type gundam, maybe its the soldier in me.
+Joshua Milligan the mobile suit i want the most is the Ground type GM from 08th MS team ova.
I like that it comes with the small army men
Great review vince :)
- tempting to buy this kit :)
Considering this kit is the same price, in my area, as the kit it is based off of.
So this kit is good value, and lends itself to a good customizable build.
Not to mention it has almost all the parts necessary to build the normal GM Sniper II, or maybe a cross/custom between it and the K9.
Grunt suits are my favs
I fixed that problem with the hostler and leg connection by trimming off most of the plastic on the hostler that is between the two leg parts and then glued what was left on to the leg itself and made it so much better but that was my one problem with that kit as well
One of the hardest model kits to get right now (without paying a premium)
I'm liking the channel so far V3.
Depends on what you mean by grunt and what grunt. If we're talking about mass production suits, favorites include the Hygogg, GM, Zakus, Ball, Tieren, Leo, and Genoace. I hope you could make much more LBX reviews.
dont forget that you also get all the pieces to make a regular green gm sniper 2
I need this in my life.
i love this kit, it reminds me of the halo odst soldiers
I was surprised that the customized GM sniper 2 was equipped with the EXAM system.
CAMPEÓN DEL MUNDO BOLUDO!!!
i normally hate grunt suits but when i saw this one in the anime it became a fav for me like char zaku because it wasn't just a grunt.it was special and i can get some pretty good posses with it for snipping but you have to switch out the what looks like ammon pack skirts for the original gm front skirts and it fixed the problem.im thinking about buying two more and making a diorama around them and k9 units lol
I'd love to have an RG version of this.

This is a nice little kit and looks pretty good I just wish bandai would make a mg of this or the gm sniper ll ,but its unlikely they will
Hi there Type V3. I don't know if you remember me, but you gave me some advice on your Fenice review and since then, I've built a few Gundams :) I would just like to know, what do you use for panel lining? Do you do any other type of detailing on these kits? Thanks
I use various Gundam Markers for panel lining and minor coloring.
I personally like grunt suits. Though I do wish they would get some more love and action in the animes.
My personal favourites include:
The Adele (Gundam AGE);
The Jegan series (Char Counterattack, Gundam Unicorn);
The GM III (Char Counterattack, Gundam Unicorn);
The Geara Doga (Char Counterattack, Gundam Unicorn);
The M1 Astray (Gundam SEED, SEED Destiny) and;
The GN-X series (Gundam 00, Gundam 00 Awakening of the Trailblazer)
I like modified grunt suits like the TTT that's also the reason why I like build fighters because it just brings in more variations of suit designs. (still waiting for the gaplant 0' fiver and the hrududu bandai still waiting XD)
i love the grunt suit's they need more love
The only Grunt Suits I like are the early Zeon ones, and the GMs, and MAYBE the Windam and Graze
I know this is 6 years old, but what do you guys think of the Vagan Grunt Suits? I think the gen 1 looks awesome.
Hmm, that issue with the ammo-packs on the thigh, think that could be solved by sanding down the plate that holds them on? It looks like they're a good couple of millimetres thicker than they need to be.

Pretty love. Love the Tallgeese (especially III), but current japanese polls suggest we'll see more SEED.
***** Did you just call me love? :'3 Aaaaanyway... that's a shame as it would be a great excuse for a new HG kit. The existing HG Tallgeese kits are pretty old now. The MG is awesome I hear, but not something I can afford right now.
That was supposed to say low*. Autocorrect wins yet another battle...
Great video!!!you should make more gundam reviews.
Maybe I should.....
HMMM....
***** how about if you make a review for HGBF sengoku astray or amazing exia
Are the knife and pistols holsters are removable
Do you use clear coat spray for your kits and if so what kind do you recommend? Also totally love how you had the K9 mauling the Kampfer Amazing. That was pretty funny.
Nope, I don't use clear/top coat. Though I probably should start!
my opinion is variant depending on the suits themselves and what their capabilities are but honestly, im always a fan of sniper grunts because i always prefered long distance than up close so the sniper grunts i find as a gundam version as myself i suppose, also where do you get your models from?
So, I have a question. He comes with the backpack. Why is it sold separately then? I just ordered mine and I'm excited but confused about the backpack.
can you do a video of your gundam collection?
what is the best hg set of all time or figure series
1:39 Jobby is pleased
I tend to like the nobody characters/ grunts. I like the fact that they're more mundane looking, less ostentatious.
I love GMs to death :D My first "encounter" with a mobile suit was the MG RGM-79 way back.
Wanna pick up this set for the lil dudes alone though I do love grunt suites I just built 6 gms so I’ll build the actual kit later
Grunt suits. Their charm, you ask? They are blank slates, so you could have your very own Gm, Zaku, or any other grunt suit. Your very own ;)
My opinion on grunts? It depends. It's really a case by case basis for me.
i love how the next vid on my list of up next is the episode where this ms pops in. lmao xD
Just ordered this as my fifth
would you recommend this for a entry point ? If not are there any pistol dualwielders that would be better?
Yep, all HGs are a great starting point!
Is it possible to make this gm a "left-handed" sniper
I personally like Grunt Suits, mostly Zakus or GMs. Here's hoping we get a HG Revive Zaku.
does antoine have problems with the connector for the legs and waist? mine was really loose it easily drop
I know and I am very thank full for your hard work. I post it to some one who likes it because he asked me what I could do to improve it.
Ahh, I see.
Imo, The Dynames will look like this if it's set on UC and mass-produced.
I personally like the grunt suits too be honest I liked the grunt suits because of the gm ground type,gm sniper 2,gm quel, gouf, dom, kampfer, guncannon, and gm cannon but because of my all time favorite 4 in grunt suits 2 for federation and 2 for zeon the gm sniper, the Stark Jegan, the Kampfer, and the dom test type I started liking them more
I bought this after I saw this video my issue though is like u said the legs tend to come off
Hey I'm new to gunpla, how come this kit is so expensive for a HG?
the only thing i like about grunt suits is all the room for customization
Wouldn't it fix the leg problems if you just make it a bit longer to make it possible not to fall out?
I think it depends on the the grunt suit
What did you use for panel lining? Will a fine point Sharpie suffice?
Narshredder I used a fine point Gundam Marker. Not sure how well Sharpie's will do.
***** Thanks for the reply! I ended up getting Micron brand pens, they worked very well.
Narshredder did you ever try the sharpie? I don't want to spend extra money if I don't have too because funds are tight right now
Alex Dalton I did not actually use the sharpies on a full model. The micron pens seem much better in quality when testing on paper and have a finer point. I found them at my local hobby store. OK thanks. I just finished assembling my HG wing gundam fenice and I think I will leave it as is from just a straight build.
I would love this kit a knife and a beam saber plus a couple more weapons I love the grunt suits 2
grunt suits are awesome they have this realism to them
I'm confused.. does this kit come with the dog backpack thing already or do we have to purchase it separately to complete the model?
It's all included.
***** oh alright thanks! (:
In my opinion, if done right the grunt suits and outshine the main hero suit ( Gundam 0080 War in the pocket is a good example )
I'd recommend usagundamstore.com
+KingCabbage Thanks man I appreciate it ! And thank you Alex !
also the stickers are hard to put on since the stickers are small the head could get some improvement cause I would be happy to have the head able to look up also a problem is that most weapons only are usable on 1 hand the shield would keep falling off my gmail sniper k9s arm but I think is because I had It to loose so I would rate the gm sniper k9 on a scale of 1to 10 would be a 6 though it is really amazing th e backpack/ hound is good
Dude, do you know a mg grunt suit?
+ToxicJelly Gamer Sure. There's plenty of Zakus.
+TYPE V3 what about the mg ball, gelgoog, gm custom, or wait for it - the gm sniper
Why is this video in your marvel/DC playlist? Just thought I'd let you know.
+Luis-Gabriel Leal Lovely counterargument ya' got there.
Yaoyao9 theres actually MP types of the zeta and ZZ
Wow, you must be fun at parties.
Not to shit on your parade or anything, but saying that it's hypocritical is a bit much, no? It's just his opinion
