I will never forget when Gloria Estefan broke her back, and it didn't look like she would walk again. She did rehabilitation and got so much love from family, friends and fans. The next release was "Coming Out Of The Dark" I still get chills.

Vicky Sue Robinson was the original singer of this song in 1975. It was a major Disco hit and all over the radio! I wasn't old enough to go to clubs but I was dancing my little a*s off with this song. It is one of my favorites ever!

The original version of this song was a hit, then Gloria Estefan did this version and it was a huge hit all over again! Both versions are great and worth hearing. Gloria is amazing! Her song Words Get In the Way makes my heart ache (slow dance type song). Really shows the depth and beauty of her voice. ❤

I was going through a divorce, unfortunately and still in love with my soon to be ex-wife. I had to drive several thousand miles to get home and had one cassette tape with Gloria Estefan. Every time "Anything For You" played I would cry like a baby.

"On March 20, 1990, Gloria's tour bus was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler truck during a snowstorm, leaving her with injuries that doctors said would leave her unable to walk or dance again. Her recovery would take four hours of surgery and months of recovery." On March 20th I went to the concert ticket window in my local mall to buy a ticket to her concert. There was a big sign saying concert cancelled. I was so so so bummed she was hurt! I really loved her music!
Michael Bolton sang a tribute song to Gloria called "When I'm Back On My Feet Again" regarding that horrible accident that almost left her paralyzed.

The movie is called the Specialist. It stars Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone. Y’all need to check out a different side of Gloria Estefan. She has great ballads as well. Songs like Don’t wanna lose you, Coming out of the dark or Words Get in the Way. So many more uptempo and slow songs to check out as well.

Gloria Estefan was really a pioneer for getting Latin sounds and rhythm played on radio in the 80's and they had a few good hits along the way. She is a true pioneer.
Growing up in that era, Gloria was one of my favorites. I can still put her on when it’s time to clean the house and I’m taken back!

Gloria performed her Olympics theme song "Reach" on stage for the first time since recovering from her tragic bus accident and got a standing ovation before she sang.
It was so emotional and beautiful. The song bore more meaning than just the Olympics and you could feel the emotions going through the room.
I believe she got another standing ovation at the end of the performance also.
She's been one of my top Latina singers since her days with The Miami Sound Machine.
I had her cassette of her MI TIERRA album, which was all in Spanish, and was obsessed with the title song. Even though my Spanish speaking was bad, I learned the whole song and sang it every time I heard it.
Back then the cassette sleeves had the lyrics on it.

You’re mixing up 2 events. Gloria’s tour bus accident was in 1990. She made her comeback performance in 1991 at the American Music Awards with “Coming out of the Dark” from the album Into the Light. She performed “Reach” in 1996 for the Olympics.
Gloria is pure fun! Other great dance hits include "Oye," "Live for Loving You," and "Wepa." Big ballads hits like "Don't Wanna Lose You," "Reach," and "Anything for You."
I was lucky enough to watch her live in Miami when she was in "The Sound Machine " !
When she had her accident i got in contact with her at the hospital and sent her a puzzle from Maine ! I got a nice note from her thanking me and how so many sent her gifts which she ended up giving most of them to the children's ward !

This was a disco remake originally recorded by Vickie Sue Robinson. My favorite Gloria Estefan disco-style song is "Heaven's What I Feel". It was from her 1998 Gloria album and really brings back the 70's disco sound. You'll love it.

Also - Yes, this was on the soundtrack of a Stallone movie, but it wasn't Rocky. It was called "The Specialist", where Sly plays a freelance hitman. It also stars Sharon Stone and James Woods. I really wish you would have heard the original version sung by Vicki Sue Robinson first, THAT one was one of the disco dance songs of the 1970s it got us out on the roller-skating floor all the time! I love Gloria Estefan she covered this song spectacularly in the 1990's and THAT would get a lot of us out on the dance floor, we had to dance to it too! Ikr, same thing I was thinking!!! Now that they've heard this one, the original is a MUST-HEAR! We loved it as kids growing up in the 70s, and it still slaps hard to this day! It has that true disco vibe that can't be duplicated, even though Gloria did the thing!😆

When I was in high school my stage band played turn the beat around… it was one of the most difficult songs I remember playing because I was a percussionist… I played xylophone, suspended symbol, bass drum, cow bell , chimes all in the same song

This is off a great album by Gloria, “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me”, featuring various 60s/70s songs. I like her rendition of “Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying”.
Her voice is in a whole different level when she recorded that. Still, destiny is my favorite, though. Musically and vocally.

This is a great cover of Vicki Sue Robinson's classic. I actually met Vicki Sue Robinson when I was at a club one night where she was performing. I bought her a drink, sat down beside her and we chatted.🤫 Of course, chatting wasn't easy with all that loud music and she then had to do her performance at which point we parted company. I had VIP cards for a number of dance clubs.😉 I was always a big fan of Gloria Estefan & The Miami Sound Machine. Peace & Love🕊❤

But she is also known for her ballets And you guys are always surprised when you 1st hear orders and you hear the dance track but you are so prize by they're rang When they do a ballets. I remember Gloria the most for her tireless work she did to help the ppl of South Fla from the disastrous Hurricane Andrew in 1994. She had days of top talent from around the world. My mom was friends with the mother of Clay Ostwald on keyboards 1987- present. In the early 1990's his mom said to my mom "when is he going to settle down and get a real job". I'm glad he stayed with the music.
Not only does the lady sing beautifully and she is very beautiful. But I got to be her bodyguard in Orlando at a concert she attended. She was pregnant with her first child. She was one of the sweetest people you would ever want to meet and treated me with great respect. That type of attitude is very rare for super stars.

Gloria kills this one as well. When they first hit the scene it was the Miami Sound Machine, and then it morphed into Gloria Estefan with the Miami Sound Machine. The band is always the Miami Sound Machine and her husband is the leader of the band, and they always bring it!
This as well as many of her songs were HUGE dance club hits. I remember spending many of night dancing to these songs in clubs.
