Gloria’s live “Coming Out Of The Dark” is fantastic. She had been in an awful bus wreck. They weren’t sure if she would walk again. After surgeries, physical rehab she walked out on stage looking beautiful and sang that song. I still get chills!!
@@jerrymartin3965Actually Emilio Estefan her husband got the idea for the song when he was leaving the hospital where Gloria remained paralysed and the sun came out lighting up an otherwise overcast day and the title “Coming out of the dark” came into his mind and while she was recovering Emilio took the idea to Gloria who then wrote the song with Jon Secada in 15 minutes inspired by her perspective of triumphing over adversity.
Yes, finally someone is reacting to Gloria's ballads!! "Anything for You" is a must as well!!! "Here We Are"; "Words Get in the Way"; "Can't Stay Away From You" are other greats as well! She has so many :)
I grew up during this time, and I’m from Miami to Gloria Estefan is iconic for us. I love every single song she and the Miami sound machine has done but this song right here is so heart wrenching oh my God! Every time I hear the song till this day and I’m now 53 regard I get tears in my eyes
Her 'Coming out of the Dark' was written for her return to performing following a major accident with her tour bus. She was pretty badly injured and the song was a celebration.
That's a good one. I'm more familiarized with the Spanish version they did with multiple latin stars (even Plácido Domingo and a then very young Ricky Martin). This was the version I heard all the time on the radio back then. It's called "Puedes Llegar".
I'd forgotten about this song...shame on me. Beautiful voice, she broke down a lot of stereotypes with class, style and talent! She's come through alot...GOD BLESS HER!
Miami Sound Machine came on with a force in the mid-80's and gave us that Latin/Cuban island sound. We fell in love with her. As a solo artist, she got even bigger with hit after hit like this one. Just a genuinely cool woman. While she has never gotten the icon credit like Madonna, Mariah and some others, she was definitely someone that deserves that label.
Gloria Estefan's live performance of "Coming Out Of The Dark" at the American Music Awards in 1991 is iconic. They do show a bit of video before she performs depicting what happened in the horrible bus accident a year before. I think as you both are athletes, you can understand the work she put in to not just walking again but going out on that stage for the first time and singing again.
Yes, Gloria Estefan is very accomplished! Her latest accolade is her June 2023 induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. ❤ Love all her work and her incredible story!! Thanks for the reaction!!
She has so many great hits. She has an amazing voice. I liked her songs like this one more than the upbeat songs. Always Tomorrow is another great song that touches me
Gloria's husband Emilio is also in the Miami Sound Machine. They are both writers and have had a fantistic career together with his band. Congrats to their long marriage and calibration, they make great music together.. Thanks for reacting to their sound. A faithful following fan. ❤🎶👋
I can see you smiling, Amber, as though you know something we do not. Gloria, as you know, is multi-talented singer, dancer, writer but did you know she is also tri-lingual and fluent in Spanish, English and French and worked as a translator before becoming a successful vocal artist. She is a brilliant and determined woman who serves as a model for so many more.
I love Gloria Estefan slow jams. Also “Don’t Wanna Lose You”, “Always Tomorrow” and “Words Get in the Way”. She also has great holiday music u might wanna check out🩷🩷🩷
Grammy award winner, Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, named one of the all time top 100 greatest artist and her record sales exceed 100 million worldwide making her one of the best selling female singers of all time…..yes, that would be Gloria Estefan! Married to Emilio Estefan for 45 years!! It is Emilio who played drums in their band The Miami Sound Machine and was the producer and founding member.
Another latin singer you should react to is Jon Secada. "Just Another Day" was a big hit off his self-titled debut album. The album was released in 1992 and sold 7 million copies.
She can make you dance, she can make you cry, she can make you fall in love. She's the real deal. I have 30 Gloria Estefan songs in my music library. More on CD's. For a great, upbeat Latin number, I recommend "Ay Ay I" from the album "Cuts Both Ways."
this song came out when I was with my ex-girl friend and we would dance to this song and many other Gloria Estefan songs and we would escape this world and think of being in paradise
Gloria has so many huge hits. This isn't even one of her best. You need to go down the Gloria rabbit hole of her greatest hits. She was a huge icon in the 80s and 90s.
Yes, you have a large catalog to dive into with Gloria! She does ballads and up-tempo/dance songs equally well! You gotta do more South Florida vibes. Jon Secada, Expose, K.C. & the Sunshine Band , and where Disco started with George McCrae's "Rock Your Baby" (my opinion). 😄😎🏖
Gloria and her family fled Cuba and landed in Miami when she was a child. Her connection and compassion for the Cuban community is strong. Her huge hit “Don’t want to lose you know” was also released in Spanish. Can’t go wrong with any of her tunes!! ❤
Gloria Estefan has always been my most favorite and beloved performer of all time. I've followed her career through every single phase of it. And I'm blessed to say I got to meet her in person THREE times. Gloria is a heaven sent gift. Very few people get to meet the idol of their lives. I did it three times in a row! Thank you, Gloria Estefan...
To really get the Latin flavour of Gloria Estefan I would suggest listening to "Oye Mi Canto" Back in the day I had no idea what the lyrics meant, but I really dug the sound of it.
Oh man, this song takes me back to a simpler better time. I still can feel my finger on the record button waiting for the newest songs like this one to come on the radio. I had such a crush on Gloria, she was so beautiful, soulful, and talented. Still is, but I do not think she has recorded anything in years. On a rainy day, I could be found sitting in front of my boom box making a mix tape for my Walkman, or a girlfriend. My wife still has mix tapes that I made for her 30 years ago! Great time for music, great time to grow up!
Legend!!!! "Ill do anything for you" is just beautiful. Also, I feel you all should discover Lisa Lisa (she has a catalog of hits) and Jon Secada "another day"

Check out Gloria's upbeat hits "1-2-3" and "Get on Your Feet" and "Oye Mi Canto" (Spanish), as well as her ballad "Coming Out of the Dark" (which was released after her near-fatal tour bus crash that broke her back and went to No. 1).
