Whitney's performance of The Star Spangled Banner at the Superbowl is unparalleled. Like this song, it showcases her ability to seamlessly go from a soft, intimate tone to full-on belt.

Her clothes were from costumes in the movie “The Bodyguard “ with Whitney and Kevin Costner! Just a wonder! Loved the movie! The movie had several big hits!💕
Whitney's live performances are where you really get to see the greatness of her voice. One Moment in Time, All the Man that I Need, and Didn't We Almost Have it All, are among some of her greatest live performances, but find the ones when she was in her prime. It's mind blowing to see her live.
Whitney in the studio is phenomenal but Whitney live is on a whole different level of greatness. There are so many live performances like The Greatest Love Of All (Wembley Stadium), Where Do Broken Hearts Go, I Am Changing (San Francisco 1986), One Song, He I Believe (Japan 1990)…just to name a few. Whitney had so many vocal weapons: range, resonance, vibrato, melisma, tone, breath support, volume control, stamina-in her prime, Whitney’s voice had no weaknesses. And let’s not forget her secret weapons her head voice and her stage presence.
This is footage from The Bodyguard........one of my favorite movies! Whitney sings alot of her hits in the movie and her and Kevin's chemistry is amazing! Love y'all 💜
Greetings Jay and Amber This song is from "The Bodyguard" movie and soundtrack. The outfit she wears for this video fits into the persona / character she plays in the film. Yes, there are several female artists who can hold a note longer than Whitney. Linda Ronstadt, Barbara Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, and Aretha Franklin are just 4 who did. On the male side, Freddy Curci from 'Sheriff' has the record for longest held note in a song for "When I'm with You". Maybe after listening to this song, you will be inspired / intrigued to watch "The Bodyguard" 1992 starring Ms. Whitney Houston and Mr. Kevin Costner for your movie channel.
I still get sad that Whitney couldn't beat her demons. I'm not usually a person who gets attached to the lives of celebrities, but I prayed for her to recover so many times. Such a beauty and such a talent.
Jay & Amber, you'll love her "Saving All My Love for You", "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" and any song she sings!! Also her cousin is Dionne Warwick, hint hint 😉😉 . Great voices run in the family. Start with Dionne's "Walk On By"!!!
Whitney's voice is so ASSERTIVE. That's what comes through for me whether she's taking it soft or belting it out. There's never anything unsure or tenuous. She knows right where she's going with every note and commits it with full intention. One of a kind. I've heard some good renditions of her songs but there will just never be another Whitney.
Thanks guys for this reaction! I recommend "I'm Your Baby Tonight" just because it's lots of fun (so is the video) and Whitney's vocals are particularly playful and amazing. For another ballad, "All The Man That I Need" is also one of her best.
I love both of those suggestions! I also love Whitney's "It's not Right, but it's okay." Very powerful song. I do love the dance version of the song better though.
This is my favorite Whitney Houston song. An absolutely stunning vocal performance over a gorgeous arrangement by David Foster. You can tell this song reaches the very ceiling of her vocal range, and one can only wonder how many takes were required to achieve the final studio recording. In the years that followed, Whitney usually sang this song live in lower keys in order to guarantee a flawless performance. She was a consummate professional and a once-in-a-generation talent. We miss you, Whitney!
Only one take. The songwriter confirmed that in an interview. He also said she could barely talk on the day of this song was recorded, but she was still able to sing the song.
Her appearance at the super bowl is easily the best rendition of the Star Spangled Banner ever recorded. Give it a listen, it moves me to tears. Such a beautiful, talented woman, gone far too soon.
I was literally in my hospital bed after giving birth to my son the night she passed. Soo much joy, and yet my heart was broken. I have loved Whitney since I was a child in the 80’s. Her voice is incomparable. Power, control, depth, emotion…Whitney was touched by God with that voice. I forget that there are people that haven’t heart her angelic voice. Highly recommend y’all watch The Bodyguard. Kevin Costner refused to do the movie without her. And she nailed it. Add the masterpiece of a soundtrack. It was the biggest thing ever in 92-93. ANY song by Whitney is worth listening to. She will touch your soul.
This is from The Bodyguard starring Whitney and Kevin Costner a great movie you should react to from 1992. Also has I Will Always Love You ,a cover of a Dolly Parton song.
YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT AMBER!! NO ONE, NOW, THEN, OR IN THE FUTURE, HAVE, CAN, or WILL HOLD A NOTE LIKE WHITNEY HOUSTON. PERIOD, END OF STORY! Thanks Amber! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for this Whitney gift. I sooooooo recommend her singing "One Moment in Time" live at the 1998 Grammys. It was after a low period of time and she was stunning in white dress and rose the roof off the place. As always, thanks for all your genuine love for music and people.
The most memorable Whitney performance to me was when she sang the National Anthem when we were still over in Iraq just after we won Desert Shield / Desert Storm... I saw it after I got back after RUclips was created and it blew me away... RIP Whitney, Thank you for all the memories
It's a sure bet _I Will Always Love You_ is what comes to mind when people think about _The Bodyguard_ soundtrack, but _I Have Nothing_ was my absolute favourite from that release. Whitney Houston was an unrepeatable talent that I wish we could have enjoyed for longer than we did. Thank you for this reaction; now you need to check out the movie so you can confirm for yourselves it was indeed Kevin Costner starring with Houston in her big screen debut.

I don't know what it is, but it's *I'm your baby tonight* for me. The levels her voice goes through, the simple but elegant runs, the vibrancy, the attitude and passion. Yeah, it's a more poppy song, but it just pulls me in how much her voice can do all that through just one song like that. Fast, slow, light, heavy, singing, rapping/speaking, high notes, low notes, it has it all to me haha.
Whitney Houston was the greatest singer to ever draw breath, in any and every genre, and she proved it over and over and over again. RIP, Nippy! The Heavenly Choir has surely never sounded better. ❤ #gonebutnotforgotten
The Bodyguard soundtrack album was HUGE because of songs like this. Make sure you watch that movie. She is incredible in this movie and every song is amazing.
She was the VOICE ! growing up with her music was a privilege she was everything and beyond. She gave you goosebumps all the time .Rip Queen we miss you .❤
Arguably the best female vocalist of all time. I saw Whitney during her first tour, she was nineteen years old. The venue was not even half filled. We were told we could move down and even at nineteen she was a powerhouse.
This song was from the movie “The Bodyguard” and its number 1 accompanying soundtrack album. It was a MASSIVE hit album! You think her vocals were stunning on this song, check out her cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You”, also featured on the movie soundtrack. That song was number 1 on Billboard for 14 weeks! The soundtrack is currently listed as the best selling movie soundtrack of all time with more than 45 million copies sold worldwide and 20 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard charts!!😮 The songs and soundtrack were nominated for 2 Oscars and 6 Grammy awards and won 3 Grammys including the Grammy for Album of the Year. And yes, that was Kevin Costner in the video! He was her co-star in the movie and those are clips of him as her bodyguard from the film. Whitney had several hit movies during her career. Such a tremendous, unparalleled talent that will never be seen again.❤😢❤😢❤
The only strange comment here is yours, Donna, since dyoung said a LOT more than just identify the name of the movie this is from. 33 people like dyoung's comment. No one likes yours. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day for you!
She was such a beautiful powerhouse, but also very vulnerable in so many ways. Another song of hers that absolutely shreds me is “Where Do Broken Hearts Go”. It’s definitely one you may want to check out.
If it's possible, she did this song even better LIVE. Watch her perform it on the Billboard Music Awards in the red, fringed dress. Utterly amazing. The Voice
David Foster cranked out some major hits during this period. I Have Nothing, Toni Braxton's Un-break My Heart, Celine Dion's The Power of the Dream and Because You Loved Me. Musical genius!
I was waiting for you to notice that was Kevin Costner!!! The Bodyguard was the biggest movie when it came out, and the soundtrack was HUUUUUUGE!!! On it, Whitney covered Dolly's I Will Always Love You and it was SUCH a smash hit!!! You definitely need to react to that song and the movie!
Finally! This is arguably the best song of her career. The video is showing scenes from the movie she starred alongside with Kevin Costner in THE BODYGUARD. Add that movie to your list. Also the movie soundtrack was one of the biggest in the 90’s. There’s more from that soundtrack you need to hear like “Run To You”, “I Will Always Love You” , “I’m Every Woman”and “Queen of the Night”.
Still brings me to tears hearing this song as it was a shame the way her life went, given the powerhouse she was. This song shows her range but not just the range, it's how crystal clear her notes were. This song was her in all her glory at her absolute prime. A legend who will not be forgotten.
Just the sharpness of her voice and the effortless changes she can pull off takes her to the all time top of my female singer favourites. So sadly missed, RIP Whitney.
I was lucky enough to see Whitney singing back up for her Mom ,Cissy Houston. Her mom was opening for B.B. King in NYC. Whitney was just 17. Her mom asked her to step forward and sing solo for one song popularized by Barbara Streisand called "Memories". For singers it's typically known that you do not attempt to sing a song that is so icon to another singer. But when Whitney was finished, the crowd screamed for an encore, encore. They had not prepared another song, so she repeated Memories. After this performance I forgot that this was Barbara's song. Amber I glanced at your B.B. King t-shirt and thought WOW what a coincidence to the night I saw her live. Thanks you both for your open hearts and minds.
Whitney's one of the few artists that can give me goose bumps listening to her sing.. So much power and range rarely equaled by anyone else!!! another song from this movie you should listen to is '' Queen of the Night", along with Dolly's " I will Always Love You" ... RIP Whitney, we miss you....
I was lucky enough to see her live twice including way back in 1987 in her prime! The 2nd time I saw her was after "The Bodyguard" and she was a drugged out mess which was so sad.
Now that you’ve done this song, you need to react to her songs “All The Man That I Need, or “Didn’t We Almost Have It All.” Talk about the power in her voice. You will be speechless.
Angelic personified. She truly has a voice that connects to your soul instantly. Amazing ability to resonate so many octaves beautifully. One of the most powerful Singers of all time.
Whitney has the voice of an angel and she was taken back to heaven way too soon, this woman could sing the phone book and it would be a hit song. A beautiful woman with an even more beautiful voice
Yeessss! This is my second favorite Whitney song (the first being I wanna dace with somebody), but it's my favorite ballad of hers! Whitney had a voice like we'll probably never hear again. However, if you wanna talk holding notes the longest check out a singer named Dimash...in one of his songs he does a belt and runs for 24 seconds without a breath, absolutely mind blowing, as is his range.
Whitney Houston had so many great songs like So Emotional, Run To You, Didn't We Almost Have it All, My Love, is Your Love and Where Do Broken Hearts Go.
You must react to any of her LIVE performances. OMG she always delivers and always has amazing reactions for you to see. Oh, and Barbra Streisand can hold a note long too!!! Remember Evergreen! :)

Saw her live and was shocked to realize that she sounded better live than on any recording. Unbelievable voice!
Arguably the best female vocalist of all time. I saw Whitney during her first tour, she was nineteen years old. The venue was not even half filled. We were told we could move down and even at nineteen she was a powerhouse.
Donna summers can make that an argument
She has, by far, one of the best female voices, EVER!
This song was from their blockbuster movie The Bodyguard.
We know that, dyoung. That's what this video is showing, along with her singing. They mention it. Strange comment accordingly.
The Voice
She beings me to tears.
She never did too little or too much with a song. Her arrangements and voice were always perfect!!
The incomparable voice of Whitney Houston touches the soul. There will never be another like her. This is how she should be remembered. R.I.P.
“Saving All My Love For You” is another treasure of Whitney’s. 🎧
She was so beautiful, and her voice was incredible. RIP Whitney! We were blessed to have you for as long as we did. 💙
Epic song from an epic lady….great soundtrack to The Bodyguard too
One of the greatest songs ever recorded, I don't think anyone would be able to argue that.
Chill's Chill,s Chill,s everytime this Beautiful women sings. She is the voice . She's the standard. Rest in peace Whitney miss you😢
There will never be another Whitney. That voice is amazing. One of her most underrated up tempo songs is “Love Will Save The Day”.
Whitney Houston had a voice for the ages. She will forever be missed. 💛
She pronounce so clearly every single letter in every single word!!! Just Goddess!🙌🙌🙌
Best female voice ever heard in my life 💯❤️
I was lucky enough to see Whitney singing back up for her Mom ,Cissy Houston.
This is from the movie "The Bodyguard" - starring Kevin Costner and Whitney. You might want to put this movie on your reaction channel
Them: There’s so much power and so effortless
Me: Oh just wait for the freaking key change lmfao
"""Whitney's voice is a human treasure ****That gift will not be passed out for a very long time...especially in that magnitude!***!!"""
I know Christmas has passed, but her rendition of "Do you hear what I hear" is so good.
So true....she made her version the Standard
I was lucky enough to see her in concert and she was pure perfection! So glad I had that chance to hear one of the greatest voices of all time!
I was lucky enough to see her live twice including way back in 1987 in her prime! The 2nd time I saw her was after "The Bodyguard" and she was a drugged out mess which was so sad.
@@guybiz411 My concert was also 1987
Instant tears and goosebumps! I miss her so much! RIP Whitney 🙏
Same here 😭😭😭.
🕊 🙏 💞
I loved this movie , "The Bodyguard" with Whitney and Kevin Costner!! She has such a powerful, gorgeous voice.
This is Whitney at her peak...SLAYIN'.
Whitney, Celine, and Barbra Streisand. The triumverate of female voices in our lifetime.
Celine no. Streisand no.
Mariah yes
TONI MFN BRAXTON don’t forget 👌🏻
Imo the best 3 female voices ever are Karen Carpenter, Patsy Cline, and Celine.
@@tracy8508 really? You don't have a problem with not telling the truth do you.they're not even close.
This whole soundtrack is great!!! Her "Star Spangled Banner" at Superbowl is THE BEST EVER!!😍😍😍
Now that you’ve done this song, you need to react to her songs “All The Man That I Need, or “Didn’t We Almost Have It All.” Talk about the power in her voice. You will be speechless.
I won't accept a voice could be better than this.
her voice is perfection
Whitney’s one of the great female vocalists of her generation and she was a good actress as well, better than most expected or gave her credit for.
I have heard this song so many times and still every time goosebumps and tears .. Whitney Houston was a magnificent artist ❤
You must react to any of her LIVE performances. OMG she always delivers and always has amazing reactions for you to see. Oh, and Barbra Streisand can hold a note long too!!! Remember Evergreen! :)
Yes,Barbara,the original! Mentor to Celine...🎙
This my absolute favorite song of hers. She was a force to be reckoned with!!!
the way J's arms open wide @6:35 ... is the way I feel EVERY TIME I hear this song... 🤩🤩😍😍🥰🥰
Whitney is one of the best, this was my fav album growing up. To answer your question, Minnie Riperton holds a note longer
