The Bodyguard was a very underrated movie. Whitney was at her absolute peak as an artist. And a stunningly beautiful woman.
Whitney starred with Kevin Costner in a film called the bodyguard
It's one of those movies I don't own, but if it happens to be on TV, I'll watch it from what ever point of the movie it happens to be at to the end. Great movie...
That is one of my favorite movies, Whitney and Kevin have such a good connection in that movie .
How was it underrated ? When it came out. Everybody was talking about it and how great it was. It made 411 million dollars with a 25 million dollar budget.. I say thats pretty darn good.
I can't can't count the times I have watched it
So affected by working with Whitney in the Bodyguard, Kevin Costner gave her Eulogy at her funeral and it was perfect!!
Thank you, I didn't know that.
I saw her funeral...Kevin Costner was purely heart broken
💔💔💔
@@bkm2797 They were friends and the rumor at the time of filming was that he'd fallen in love with her for real, but she had married that fool Bobby Brown and it all went downhill afterwards....plus she was pregnant at some point during filming because the movie poster shows Kevin but that's Whitney's stunt double he's carrying.
It was beautiful and heartbreaking …
Omg, I literally felt and heard his heartbreaking just in his voice alone...their chemistry was undeniable, and I know I'm not alone in thinking that in a perfect world, they would've been...perfect together. 😞💔
The entire Bodyguard soundtrack was some of Whitney’s finest work. Her vocal choices are nothing short of stunning. ❤
Brave and stunning.
I 100% agree with you on this
It’s the best selling soundtrack of all time.
and not to forget that awesome track by lisa S

Is it just me or does anyone else get chills when Whitney sings?
Yup! Chills....EVERY TIME!!!
Definitely - every time! She was THE VOICE!!
She's anointed. Gifted by God. One of the greatest singers of our time.
ABSOLUTELY!!!!! Nobody- *NOBODY* -has what she has!!!
Always. This song tears me apart. There will never be another Whitney, she leaves everyone else in her dust ❤❤❤❤
This is Whitney in her prime! One of the most beautiful voices of the entire 20th century.
The only two voices worthy of being mentioned along side her is Barbara Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald.
Adorkability, I agree with you, and I think you said it correctly since several other 20th century female vocalists with exceptionally beautiful voices also come immediately to my mind such as Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, Patsy Cline, Joni Mitchell, Jo Stafford, and Aretha Franklin, to name a few.
Those listed above are all in the pop, soul, jazz, and country genres, but a true accounting of beautiful female voices of the 20th Century would have to include opera and other art singers of the 20th Century such as Rosa Ponselle, Claudia Muzio, Bidu Sayao, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Renata Tebaldi, Renata Scotto, Leontyne Price, Regine Crespin, Montserrat Caballé, Kathleen Battle, Dawn Upshaw, Emma Kirkby, Wilhelmenia Fernandez, Rene Fleming, and Johannette Zomer, to name only a small number.
I would be remiss to not also mention some of the great female vocalists of stage and screen musicals of the 20th Century who have very beautiful voices such as Judy Garland, Shirley Jones, Marni Nixon, Barbara Cook, Barbra Streisand, Julie Andrews, Elaine Paige, Betty Buckley, Sarah Brightman, Audra McDonald, Kristin Chenoweth, and Lea Salonga to name a few.
I would hate to have to rank any of these legendary vocalists against one another as if they were in some inane singing competition. The world of music would be poorer if the works of even one of these vocalists disappeared.
I agree with my whole heart. I adored her so much. RIP Queen.
@@jsl8905 and Christina Aguilera. Whitney's family personally chose her to do the tribute to Whitney.

You should do “The Bodyguard” movie reaction! The scenes in this video are from the movie. Whitney was great in the movie and has a number of her songs in it!
YES, indeed they should !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whitney could belt between 3 octaves with ease. That's not normal, she was a true talent.
When she sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl, it was the BEST ever. She didn't mess with the song, or change it up, but just belted it out!! Gave us chills!!
Absolutely amazing. Spiritual. Frequency. Goosebumps.
She did change it up. She slowed it down. The NFL didn't like that she slowed it down and her dad told them to kick rocks (that is the polite version of what he said)
Whitney's performance of The Star Spangled Banner at the Superbowl is unparalleled. Like this song, it showcases her ability to seamlessly go from a soft, intimate tone to full-on belt.
A classic
Best performance ever!
Best but that Stapleton came in with the second best.
This is the definitive version of this song- period
I was in Operation Desert Storm in Iraq and we had the radio on in the middle of the night in our tents. A bunch of 20ish dudes in complete silence after that anthem. Looking at each other like wtf did we just hear?
She was a true gift, along with Celine. And wow, she absolutely killed it when she did the National Anthem. Pure goosebumps!
She wasn't nicknamed THE VOICE for no reason. Whitney forever ❤
Vocally during this era, Whitney was untouchable! She was the greatest singer on the planet, bar none!
I still don’t think anyone comes close to her talent.A one of a kind, gone too soon.
Mariah Carey is here
Us baby boomers experienced the greatest time in music 50s-80s, we were spoiled.
💯
So true. We had the best music and I like to hang on to it as much as I can.
Yes we were!
Imagine i got the chance to see live Aretha once Barbara once withney once Mariah 3 times and Celine 23 times live I still pinched myself on how much I was lucky didn’t back then that we would never see still to this day such exceptional voices 🥰
I would add the 90's to that as well. A lot of amazing artists in the 90s. Fiona Apple. Alanis Morissette. Sarah Mclachlan. Soundgarden. Sublime!!! etc...
Her voice always gives me chills. Such a powerhouse!
Her clothes were from costumes in the movie “The Bodyguard “ with Whitney and Kevin Costner! Just a wonder! Loved the movie! The movie had several big hits!💕
Goosebumps 💕💕💕
@@sheilameyers152 She sings the title song from the movie "Waiting to Exhale". Great song/movie 🥰
Was an absolute privilege to be young/old enough to enjoy Whitney's prime.
Facts!
Whitney was awesome. She didn't only have an amazing voice she also was so beautiful.
Another must to listen to for her range is the National Anthem at the Super Bowl
Since she sang this, it’s become one of the hardest songs female vocalists will try at… she was so perfect ❤
Is angelina jordan does it better
@@franciscialini7489
Hell na
I'm a male rock and country singer and like every other male rock and country vocalist, when I know I'm alone in the studio and all the cameras are not recording I try my best to sing this song
@@franciscialini7489 Angelina is the only artist who has come close IMHO. The fact she was only 16 when she made her recent beautiful video is mind-boggling indeed.
Whitney was the best, but I must say this live cover by Jessie J. is pretty much perfect. If you haven't heard it, you should check it out. She is one of the very best current female vocalists today, ruclips.net/video/5YFOHecRcfI/видео.html
In her prime in the 90s. She was incredible. I love her live Grammy performance of one moment in time. Omg. So frickin goooood ❤️❤️❤️❤️
YES!!!!
She was the VOICE ! growing up with her music was a privilege she was everything and beyond. She gave you goosebumps all the time .Rip Queen we miss you .❤
Whitney was phenomenal. And this was Whitney at her peak. She was not only gorgeous, but her her voice was flawless.
Whitney Houston never fails to show her amazing vocals. 80s was her best time ever.
This is footage from The Bodyguard........one of my favorite movies! Whitney sings alot of her hits in the movie and her and Kevin's chemistry is amazing! Love y'all 💜
💖💖💖💖💖
Whitney has the power and tone, but mostly she has the most consummate control. Incredible singer. You cannot know how big this album was
her voice is perfection
Stunning voice!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️one of my faves of hers! Just gorgeous! RIP Whitney.
Whitney's live performances are where you really get to see the greatness of her voice. One Moment in Time, All the Man that I Need, and Didn't We Almost Have it All, are among some of her greatest live performances, but find the ones when she was in her prime. It's mind blowing to see her live.
Whitney in the studio is phenomenal but Whitney live is on a whole different level of greatness. There are so many live performances like The Greatest Love Of All (Wembley Stadium), Where Do Broken Hearts Go, I Am Changing (San Francisco 1986), One Song, He I Believe (Japan 1990)…just to name a few. Whitney had so many vocal weapons: range, resonance, vibrato, melisma, tone, breath support, volume control, stamina-in her prime, Whitney’s voice had no weaknesses. And let’s not forget her secret weapons her head voice and her stage presence.
There is nothing... No One like Whitney live
This is the best voice of all time. She could hit every note. Lowest to the highest and did it w perfection.
Truth 🙌
The greatest female voice of all time. I miss her so much. She changed my life. Such a gorgeous person 😢❤
Whitney's voice is so ASSERTIVE. That's what comes through for me whether she's taking it soft or belting it out. There's never anything unsure or tenuous. She knows right where she's going with every note and commits it with full intention. One of a kind. I've heard some good renditions of her songs but there will just never be another Whitney.
Jay & Amber, you'll love her "Saving All My Love for You", "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" and any song she sings!!
Also her cousin is Dionne Warwick, hint hint 😉😉 . Great voices run in the family. Start with Dionne's "Walk On By"!!!
A big "yes" to more Dionne Warwick!
Best female voice ever heard in my life 💯❤️
I won't accept a voice could be better than this.
Without any doubt. Whitney was one of the absolute best voices of any generation. Her legacy will live on for generations to come.
Greetings Jay and Amber
This song is from "The Bodyguard" movie and soundtrack. The outfit she wears for this video fits into the persona / character she plays in the film.
Yes, there are several female artists who can hold a note longer than Whitney. Linda Ronstadt, Barbara Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, and Aretha Franklin are just 4 who did. On the male side, Freddy Curci from 'Sheriff' has the record for longest held note in a song for "When I'm with You".
Maybe after listening to this song, you will be inspired / intrigued to watch "The Bodyguard" 1992 starring Ms. Whitney Houston and Mr. Kevin Costner for your movie channel.
They cant…
She's really showing her range in this song
She was and is an absolute NATIONAL TREASURE! I just don't think there's another singer alive who holds a candle to her - her voice was perfection!
I cry when I hear her voice, thinking how young she was when we lost her. So much talent , her vocals are so stunning.
Now you're hearing the Whitney in her prime. My goodness she has the voice of a heavenly angel. Miss you WH
This song literally gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. Nothing short of incredible.
I still get sad that Whitney couldn't beat her demons. I'm not usually a person who gets attached to the lives of celebrities, but I prayed for her to recover so many times. Such a beauty and such a talent.
She has, by far, one of the best female voices, EVER!
Thanks guys for this reaction! I recommend "I'm Your Baby Tonight" just because it's lots of fun (so is the video) and Whitney's vocals are particularly playful and amazing. For another ballad, "All The Man That I Need" is also one of her best.
Yep, these are the two to do next.
And ideally get the live versions of these at the Welcome Home Heroes concert.
I love both of those suggestions! I also love Whitney's "It's not Right, but it's okay." Very powerful song. I do love the dance version of the song better though.
It would be fun to hear one of her more upbeat songs 🎵
This is one of my favourite ever songs. It displays Whitney's incredible vocal range, which noone else comes close to.💖💖💖
That angel was lent to the world for just a moment.
Her appearance at the super bowl is easily the best rendition of the Star Spangled Banner ever recorded. Give it a listen, it moves me to tears. Such a beautiful, talented woman, gone far too soon.
Thanks for this Whitney gift. I sooooooo recommend her singing "One Moment in Time" live at the 1998 Grammys. It was after a low period of time and she was stunning in white dress and rose the roof off the place. As always, thanks for all your genuine love for music and people.
This is my favorite Whitney Houston song. An absolutely stunning vocal performance over a gorgeous arrangement by David Foster. You can tell this song reaches the very ceiling of her vocal range, and one can only wonder how many takes were required to achieve the final studio recording. In the years that followed, Whitney usually sang this song live in lower keys in order to guarantee a flawless performance. She was a consummate professional and a once-in-a-generation talent. We miss you, Whitney!
Only one take. The songwriter confirmed that in an interview. He also said she could barely talk on the day of this song was recorded, but she was still able to sing the song.
The most memorable Whitney performance to me was when she sang the National Anthem when we were still over in Iraq just after we won Desert Shield / Desert Storm... I saw it after I got back after RUclips was created and it blew me away... RIP Whitney, Thank you for all the memories
You guys should watch movie The bodyguard. This is from this movie. Great sound track
Yes it's Kevin Costner he plays her body guard in the movie
My favorite singer of all time
YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT AMBER!! NO ONE, NOW, THEN, OR IN THE FUTURE, HAVE, CAN, or WILL HOLD A NOTE LIKE WHITNEY HOUSTON. PERIOD, END OF STORY! Thanks Amber! ❤❤❤❤❤
Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey "When You Believe" from the Prince of Egypt soundtrack.....two vocal powerhouses on one song.
YES YES YES!!!!!
OMG Rob Squad totally needs to do "When You Believe"!
It's a sure bet _I Will Always Love You_ is what comes to mind when people think about _The Bodyguard_ soundtrack, but _I Have Nothing_ was my absolute favourite from that release. Whitney Houston was an unrepeatable talent that I wish we could have enjoyed for longer than we did. Thank you for this reaction; now you need to check out the movie so you can confirm for yourselves it was indeed Kevin Costner starring with Houston in her big screen debut.
The whole soundtrack is awesome. I always loved Queen Of The Night best... but I'm weird like that. lol
@00TheRealTC THANK YOU FOR YOUR BEAUTIFUL COMMENT!! All these damn people on here are arguing back and forth about stuff that doesn’t matter. Can’t we just Honor her with praise for this AWESOME MUSIC, and Beautiful Movie? And, if they can’t say something nice, just keep quiet. We used to NOT SPEAK ILL OF THE DEAD!
My favorite was always Run to You. Personally, I prefer Dolly’s version of I Will Always Love You over Whitney’s.
I don't know what it is, but it's *I'm your baby tonight* for me. The levels her voice goes through, the simple but elegant runs, the vibrancy, the attitude and passion. Yeah, it's a more poppy song, but it just pulls me in how much her voice can do all that through just one song like that. Fast, slow, light, heavy, singing, rapping/speaking, high notes, low notes, it has it all to me haha.
@@rhysiare - That’s also a great song, but I was talking about songs from The Bodyguard soundtrack specifically. That song is from a different album.
The entire Bodyguard soundtrack was amazing!!! And her actng in this movie was so good. The attitude. The sass the softness soo good.
She was a true diva❤
I was literally in my hospital bed after giving birth to my son the night she passed. Soo much joy, and yet my heart was broken. I have loved Whitney since I was a child in the 80’s. Her voice is incomparable. Power, control, depth, emotion…Whitney was touched by God with that voice. I forget that there are people that haven’t heart her angelic voice. Highly recommend y’all watch The Bodyguard. Kevin Costner refused to do the movie without her. And she nailed it. Add the masterpiece of a soundtrack. It was the biggest thing ever in 92-93. ANY song by Whitney is worth listening to. She will touch your soul.
She never did too little or too much with a song. Her arrangements and voice were always perfect!!
It breaks my heart that she was taken from us so early. I tear up when she sings "I will always love you" to me. She is beautiful and powerful. The GOAT.
The greatest voice I've ever heard
This is from The Bodyguard starring Whitney and Kevin Costner a great movie you should react to from 1992. Also has I Will Always Love You ,a cover of a Dolly Parton song.
She was so beautiful, and her voice was incredible. RIP Whitney! We were blessed to have you for as long as we did. 💙
Whitney, Celine, and Barbra Streisand. The triumverate of female voices in our lifetime.
Celine no. Streisand no.
Mariah yes
TONI MFN BRAXTON don’t forget 👌🏻
Imo the best 3 female voices ever are Karen Carpenter, Patsy Cline, and Celine.
@@tracy8508 really? You don't have a problem with not telling the truth do you.they're not even close.
An amazing woman....that voice!
The Bodyguard soundtrack album was HUGE because of songs like this. Make sure you watch that movie. She is incredible in this movie and every song is amazing.
Finally! This is arguably the best song of her career. The video is showing scenes from the movie she starred alongside with Kevin Costner in THE BODYGUARD. Add that movie to your list. Also the movie soundtrack was one of the biggest in the 90’s. There’s more from that soundtrack you need to hear like “Run To You”, “I Will Always Love You” , “I’m Every Woman”and “Queen of the Night”.
Sometimes, I think that Whitney Houston's voice could literally put me in a trance!!. She can sing like nobody's business, and she can hit those high notes, let me tell you!!.
Whitney Houston was the greatest singer to ever draw breath, in any and every genre, and she proved it over and over and over again. RIP, Nippy! The Heavenly Choir has surely never sounded better. ❤ #gonebutnotforgotten
David Foster cranked out some major hits during this period. I Have Nothing, Toni Braxton's Un-break My Heart, Celine Dion's The Power of the Dream and Because You Loved Me. Musical genius!
You guys are forgetting Barbara Streisand!! Now that woman can hold a note like nobody's business!! Please review her Yentl medley live 1994, Anaheim!! Gives me chills.
MUST WATCH : Whitney’s national anthem!!! BEST EVER!!!
Arguably the best female vocalist of all time. I saw Whitney during her first tour, she was nineteen years old. The venue was not even half filled. We were told we could move down and even at nineteen she was a powerhouse.
Donna summers can make that an argument
Epic song from an epic lady….great soundtrack to The Bodyguard too
Another angelic voice like Karen Carpenter's that was called back to heaven too early in their lives. This song was huge like so many of others. Try I Will Always Love You from the same movie, Run to You or Greatest Love Of All. You won't be disappointed.
You have to listen to Whitney...LIVE...any award show .... any concert. Amazing....
Whitney could explode your brain. Gorgeous and that voice.
This song was from the movie “The Bodyguard” and its number 1 accompanying soundtrack album. It was a MASSIVE hit album! You think her vocals were stunning on this song, check out her cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You”, also featured on the movie soundtrack. That song was number 1 on Billboard for 14 weeks! The soundtrack is currently listed as the best selling movie soundtrack of all time with more than 45 million copies sold worldwide and 20 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard charts!!😮 The songs and soundtrack were nominated for 2 Oscars and 6 Grammy awards and won 3 Grammys including the Grammy for Album of the Year. And yes, that was Kevin Costner in the video! He was her co-star in the movie and those are clips of him as her bodyguard from the film. Whitney had several hit movies during her career. Such a tremendous, unparalleled talent that will never be seen again.❤😢❤😢❤
We know that, dyoung. That's what this video is showing, along with her singing. They mention it. Strange comment accordingly.
The only strange comment here is yours, Donna, since dyoung said a LOT more than just identify the name of the movie this is from. 33 people like dyoung's comment. No one likes yours. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day for you!
She was such a beautiful powerhouse, but also very vulnerable in so many ways. Another song of hers that absolutely shreds me is “Where Do Broken Hearts Go”. It’s definitely one you may want to check out.
I was waiting for you to notice that was Kevin Costner!!! The Bodyguard was the biggest movie when it came out, and the soundtrack was HUUUUUUGE!!! On it, Whitney covered Dolly's I Will Always Love You and it was SUCH a smash hit!!! You definitely need to react to that song and the movie!
If it's possible, she did this song even better LIVE. Watch her perform it on the Billboard Music Awards in the red, fringed dress. Utterly amazing. The Voice
At every stage, Whitney was just the best!
Whitney Houston had a voice for the ages. She will forever be missed. 💛
This song was from their blockbuster movie The Bodyguard.
She beings me to tears.
The incomparable voice of Whitney Houston touches the soul. There will never be another like her. This is how she should be remembered. R.I.P.
There will never be another Whitney. That voice is amazing. One of her most underrated up tempo songs is “Love Will Save The Day”.
Just the sharpness of her voice and the effortless changes she can pull off takes her to the all time top of my female singer favourites. So sadly missed, RIP Whitney.
Chill's Chill,s Chill,s everytime this Beautiful women sings. She is the voice . She's the standard. Rest in peace Whitney miss you😢
She pronounce so clearly every single letter in every single word!!! Just Goddess!🙌🙌🙌
Fun Fact: The movie Bodyguard sequel Kevin Costner was in talks to do it with was Princess Diana when sadly she died in that accident! Also there's a reason why Whitney was 'The Voice". She was amazing! Finally, Barbra Strisand could hold a not forever. No joke. On the song "Woman In Love" by Barbra Streisand, Barbra holds a note for 11.1 seconds while singing the line: "I stumble and fall/but I give you it all" (holding the word "all" for that duration).
I know Christmas has passed, but her rendition of "Do you hear what I hear" is so good.
So true....she made her version the Standard
Whitney was the best, just as beautiful physically as she was vocally with a fire personality.
For me the best voice of all time!No other voice creates all those emotions in me!
Instant tears and goosebumps! I miss her so much! RIP Whitney 🙏
Same here 😭😭😭.
🕊 🙏 💞
Jay was really into this song! It was cool to see him feeling it too.
Whitney was so beautiful and her voice was amazing.
This whole soundtrack is great!!! Her "Star Spangled Banner" at Superbowl is THE BEST EVER!!😍😍😍
I was lucky enough to see her in concert and she was pure perfection! So glad I had that chance to hear one of the greatest voices of all time!
I was lucky enough to see her live twice including way back in 1987 in her prime! The 2nd time I saw her was after "The Bodyguard" and she was a drugged out mess which was so sad.
@@guybiz411 My concert was also 1987
Still brings me to tears hearing this song as it was a shame the way her life went, given the powerhouse she was. This song shows her range but not just the range, it's how crystal clear her notes were. This song was her in all her glory at her absolute prime. A legend who will not be forgotten.
Them: There’s so much power and so effortless
Me: Oh just wait for the freaking key change lmfao
Whitney's one of the few artists that can give me goose bumps listening to her sing.. So much power and range rarely equaled by anyone else!!! another song from this movie you should listen to is '' Queen of the Night", along with Dolly's " I will Always Love You" ... RIP Whitney, we miss you....
Now that you’ve done this song, you need to react to her songs “All The Man That I Need, or “Didn’t We Almost Have It All.” Talk about the power in her voice. You will be speechless.
