Check out the DOUBLE EYE (not double needle) topstitching at 15:28! A great tool to have in your toolbox!
Quisiera poder poner subtítulos en español en tu canal hay otros que si se pueden configurar por ejemplo “olesya & house” o “Romi&Home”
Me: Sewing for 35 years. Double eye needle WHAT? That is the coolest. Is that a new thing or has it eluded me all these years?! Great tutorial. Thanks!
Right!? Double eye needles have been around for a while, but they're not very common, probably because there aren't many situations where you really need one! I got one of my students to use one recently when she was doing red topstitching on black jeans. We didn't have a heavy red topstitching thread, so doubling up the thread in the double eye needle bulked it up and it looked fantastic!
I have been sewing for over 55 years now and had never heard of that either. This is one reason why I watch these videos- to learn new things.
Nope. Sewing for 60 years. Have not heard of this.
High rise is my favorite, too! If your machine cannot take the thick parts of denim, first use a regular hammer and pound on the thick parts. Then your machine will sew it much more easily. Really works!
Holy alchemy! Combining two pair of jeans, wrong sides together for frayed edges, and then a magic double-eyed needle!!!! Going to search for the video on the black jeans now!!!!
Oh my goodness, THANK YOU so much for this video version! I had a hard time following the black jean version but I can follow and use this one easier, 😃 so happy to learn from you!
Yes!! This method is way easier than the black jeans. And they turn out so cute!! Thanks for being on board my channel!
I've finally followed your tutorial! Two pairs of identical jeans (one black and one blue) with the knees ripped out have now become two-tone shorts. I can't wait for the warm weather!
Can't wait to try this! Yes, I have to see the black jeans you upcycled, too.
Catherine knows a whole lotta stuff about sewing...👩🎓
You never cease to amaze me with your great ideas. I know I will be watching this video again before I attempt to try the same thing with two pair of my jeans. I ever heard of or Sean a double eyed needle.
Thanks, Lorraine! I hope you give it a try!
Have never seen a double eye needle. Can’t wait to try one. The jeans turned out fabulous.
Thank you so much!
This is a video that I need. I have a few pairs of jeans that I bought that are too small. I can get at least one pair that fit.
Thank you for this wonderful video. I saw a picture of some jeans done like this and I have been trying to think through the process of how to do it. I watched your first one, and then this one, and you saved me a TON of trouble by figuring it out for me! Also, double-eyed needles?! Who knew?! I can't wait to look at more of your videos. I'm a fan!!
Tried it today and to my amazement it went very well. Thank you for the video tutorial. I appreciate it.
1st time seeing a Double eyed needle! Never heard of it before!
I love this technique and have used it twice already. I was given a couple of pairs of men's jeans and I made them into one that fits me. Also I remade two of my old jeans that no longer fit. I get lots of compliments on them. Thank you!
Another great remake project! I’m so impressed with your creativity! I think I’ll try this with some of my corduroy jeans that are a little snug!
Yeah, the comments intrigued me before I even watched. I have been a tailor and home sewer for years and I buy those brand needles and have never seen double eye sewing machine needles. Gonna get!! Love the jeans 👖 too!👍
Fantastic work, loved all your videos but I have never seen anything like this! Thank you for sharing 'x x x
Wow, they turned out great!
I had no idea there are double-eyed needles. It's good to know. I've never seen them in the stores in this area, but all the supplies available here are just the basic kind. So I'll keep my eye out for them in the future.
They fit perfectly and they're gorgeous
You did great sewing the two pair of jeans together.
Oh wow, this is a great idea! I have tons of jeans that are too tight and I am going to try combining them in this way.
Hi Catherine, I did this with a couple of pair of skinnies and they turned out great! I used a dark moss green on the outside and black on the inside. Thank you for your tutorial. I'm planning on doing this a few more times in differing variations!
Thank you so much for making and posting this video. These jeans are 100% my style. Can't wait to get started !! ¥
I love those jeans
These are adorable. I’m doing this 😮I have skinny jeans that are a bit too skinny. Thank you.
Thanks so much for the video. I’m definitely going to try this
Great looking conjoined jeans.
Thr circumference of my calf muscles are now 14 INCHES... I had been using my old skinny jeans for painting and chores, but I can't fit into them at the bottoms anymore!!!
Because I only use them for painting and chores now, I'm willing to experiment so I can transform them into something that FITS and is COMFORTABLE. Thank you for posting this video!!!
Thank you for sharing this video with us. It was quite interesting and the results are pretty awesome. I love how it turned out. 👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh I love them ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing this wonderful ideas
Most thrift stores sell the stained or scrap material by the pound to a recycle center. I always take these as well as the good clothing or materials to donate.
This is amazing. I absolutely love your videos. Please where did you buy your fabulous t-shirt?
These are great! I have to try it!
HEY!!! Congrats on reaching 1000 subs! I knew you could do it. Good job!
Thanks Emil! and congrats on the success of your channel!
Thank you so much.. love this idea ..

Truly inspiring!
Thanks for watching and for the lovely comment!
I know this is from 3 years ago but I have a quick question - did you sew right thru the waistband? I'm doing some cheapie Walmart "leggings" with a yoga waistband. Trial and error, I know (ask me how I know) but I'm more curious about how you did yours with all the layers. Thanks!
Love your channel.
Tho....why not leave to top part alone and just widen one pair with the leg part of the other pair? Dont understand why you wud cut the top part .
Great job!!👍
Thanks for checking it out!
Low rise was cool when I was 15 and had a flat abdomen. I’m never going back.
I'm really into upcycling thrifted jeans and jeans I have sitting in my closet that I'm not wearing. So many of them are low-waisted. I know you didn't cover that in this video, but you did cover it in the one with two pairs of black jeans. The problem is that I've tried it and I'm get weird puckering at the front and back. I can't tell from the video you did with black jeans how you successfully accomplished no puckering! And I can't find any other videos online that address it. They all show dropping the crotch but the final results have puckering. Help! :)
Hi Tracy, I just replied to your comment on the black jeans video, but I'll paste my response here too: I think the key is at 2:52 where I pin it on the inside but check it first on the outside to make sure there is no pucker. Also, make sure you have removed the topstitching from the seam or you'll definitely have a pucker!
these jeans are so hard(they look rlly good)
Wow, never heard of a double eye needle.

Love it
I have a pair of jeans that I want to turn into a denim skirt. I want to make the front and back straight and add the width to the sides. I also want to keep the length. Is that possible? I’ve made some with the extra in the front and back and wish I would have known about the double eye needles!
Is it possible to just take apart the inseem that goes all the way down the pants? Im trying to add some fabric to my jeans and im really scared of ruining them.
How would this work with leggings? I’m tired of wearing my too tight leggings and thought I could combine them into looser pants.
Yes, I think that would work and it would be much easier than with jeans!
Cute
Catharine, I need to cut down dress Morse on the top please I need help?
Esses vídeos são legais porém falam demais
Love "persuade" your machine. . .!
I also Never heard of a Double Eyed needle. 😯😯😯😯😯😯😯
Were the jeans stretchy or rigid denim❓👖. I want to do this but with old school study denim, but in afraid of breaking the needle👁👄👁❗
They both had a bit of stretch. If your heavy denim is very thick, be sure to use a denim needle. And you can actually hammer your seams to break down the fibres and make it easier to sew.
Besides the denim needle, there is something called a hump jumper or a button clearance plate that can help you get over the bulky denim seems. My mom gave me her machine and it came with it in the accessories. It doesn't look like much, but it really helps in getting over bulky seems.
Hellooooooo, Catherine! =)
Hello my friend Maplecook! 🍁
OMG, this is a dyslexic's nightmare! I would have gotten so confused.....!
😱🤩👍👍👍👍👍
😊
hello very beautiful video next sewing video please kindly film how to operate the sewing machine electric foot pedal how it's used to sew please ok?please kindly reply back ok?thank you very much
Hi Frank! I'm not sure what to tell you about using a foot pedal. It's kind of like a gas pedal. You just put your foot on it and push! I don't hold my foot steady on it, but instead I go, vroom....vroom....vroom. Lol, I hope that helps!
Thought you were really young but watching another video, you mentioned older children!!!! What? 😃. I’m not sure this is easy.
