I just wanted to let you know that I have used several of your tutorials to convert my wide-leg jeans into straight leg: 1. tapering both the inner and outer leg seams (not just one side like most RUclipsrs), 2. recreating the flat-felled seam, which was on the outside leg, 3. leaving the inside seam open in order to sew the outside seam flat, and 4. lengthened the U-shaped crotch to raise the waist and make it more comfortable. SUCCESS! It was a big project, but worth it. All thanks to you and your videos! Thank you SO MUCH! :-D
It is great that you show how much work goes into alterations, all the preparation, unpicking, marking, ironing, cutting, it takes longer than the finishing, and if its not done carefully it would ruin the garment completely. I have worked as a machinist making ladies separates, then, ladies underwear then maternity wear. I then worked as a sample machinist. I then worked for a few alteration companies. I did this for 45 years then 3 years ago I started a new job working for a company making furniture, it is very good quality and expensive, but the people we make for, or sell to appreciate the quality far more than people buying clothing, I can't understand why someone would happily pay £6000 pounds for a dress then quibble over the cost of the hem. I love my job now, and will only do alterations for myself my family or a few good friends as a favour. But I love watching you doing very nice alterations I hope your customers appreciate your work.
I can relate so much to what you said. My customers certainly appreciate the job I do. When they move they drive back a long wayto get my alterations. But as everyone working in this field, I can tell you that they simply can't comprehend the amount of time a good job requires that's why I try to balance the way I do the job with all those little tricks and hacks I've been learning throughout the years. Love!
You make it look so easy, been sewing 65 yrs but I would like video on altering wide leg into straight leg & on different materials ie stretch, mine never seem right.
Was waiting on this for a long long time thank u sugar knowledge is well recieved thank u! An yes pls do put the other one for us to see am so into this have a ton of Jean's to upsize lol
I taught myself how to sew 53 years ago. We were poor, so I asked my mother to buy me a machine and I'll make my clothes. but next to I look like a beginner. Lol 😆 I would love to work for you for free. I would learn so much.
Loved this and thank you. I'm actually going to widen mine but with floral material. I think it will look great. Thank you for the inspiration....I'm your fan now! 🥰
Hi talented beauty.🙋🏻♀️ New fan here. Thank you for teaching us how to refashion our jeans. I wonder if you could also help us out on how to higher the waist of those low jeans.😅 It could be a new thing with e.g. a 'Flower Power' or an 'African' print. If you do so, pls mention my initials then. Style by MJ🇳🇱😄 P.S. What a pity that some negative ppl gave you a dislike. Well it's their loss. Celebrate life! 💝🙏🏼
I couldn’t helpbut laugh when I saw this! I re-did a pair of just too tight skinnies 3or 4 years ago, and I was so proud of them, but my daughter made so much fun of them, I didn’t wear them around her.
You might have gotten confused because one leg is a little bit twisted on her. If you watch the video more carefully you'll notice it when she turns. I hope this helps.

Thanks to you for letting me know. I see that you take the tips from different videos an applied them to your work. I'm impressed. Thanks 🥰
You’re so fun! Never liked skinnies or those low butt-crack ones. Straight cut normal or high rise for me.
😂😂😂 Same!
Great tips! I've been sewing for over 50 years, but learned a LOT today! 😘
That’s so great to hear! I’m very happy to share! ☺️
You are so talented, Thank you for showing us all you do. I will be able to save a few of my jeans now👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Thanks so much 🥰 Let us know how it goes!

Now, fashion has changed. She's the one who will come to you to ask for these jeans 😉
could you please explain the second way of altering? with the insert that is from the knee and looks like a triangle :)
Sure! I explained it here:

@@DowntownTailoring very cool :) I appreciate it!!
Yipes! I would never be brave enough to use a razor blade as a seam ripper. 😱
😂😂😂 I'm wild!
Open seams is satisfying... XD ... good job
I agree! Thank you!!
How did you fit the extra fabric into the waistband?
I removed from the hips up the same amount I inserted. I hope this helps.
Hi Brenda, if you go back to 7 30 you will see that some of the original Jean is cut away to keep the original size at the waist and hip.
Show up for the teaching, stay for the savage seam ripping 💜💜💜
😂😁🤣
Спасибо 😊 😊😊
I love your videos I am learning alot thank you
Thanks so much for watching 😊
Why does the left leg material seem to show more insert material than the right Leg? it seems to pull towards the middle. Just curious.

Those scissors are so sharp to be cutting through denim so easily.
Yes! I love my scissors 😍
I have an idea, replace cheap manufacturers' pockets with real pockets in clothes with muslin?
:)
Yes, don't put thread over thread!
Hi, Do you have videos of using jeans to made them in skirts?
I'm not quite ready for the bell bottoms to be back in style I grew up in the late 60s/70s, boot cut yes.
I feel you!
:)
@@DowntownTailoring Thank you.
