    Amazing work. Are there any cons of sewing denim with only lockstitch machine? Singer 31-32 for example

    • @Greentrains
      @Greentrains  Год назад +7

      Singer31/32 is a dream machine. It can sew thicker fabrics more stably, and the stitches are unique. It has two visual effects compared with modern high-speed lockstitch sewing machines. I have a household sewing machine made in China decades ago. , it can sew a similar seam effect, but once the fabric exceeds 10oz, when sewing a pair of pants, some positions cannot pass smoothly, which is a pity. I will share the production of this machine when I have a chance🤝

    在这里,我所说的:用一台机器制作一条裤子,是在传播一个概念,但事实是我使用了三台或者四台机器,是因为我再录视频的时候顺便要完成一条工艺上能被现代人能接受的牛仔裤,比如锁边机,圆头锁眼机,电动的纽扣机。比如,老式的缝纫机可以做出平直的扣眼,1906年以前Levis还没有开始使用“over cutting”,这种纽扣也是可以用锤子敲上去的,但是很抱歉,我没有一一去展示这些做法。以下是来自Google的翻译
    Here, what I said: using one machine to make a pair of pants is to spread a concept, but the fact is that I used three or four machines because I had to complete a process that can be done while recording the video. Jeans accepted by modern people, such as overlock machine, round head buttonhole machine, electric button machine. For example, old-fashioned sewing machines can make straight buttonholes. Before 1906, Levis had not started to use "over cutting". This kind of button can also be knocked on with a hammer, but I'm sorry, I didn't show these methods one by one.

  • @Greentrains

    I want to express my point of view in Chinese: I have been using gray cloth to make a pair of jeans. This kind of fabric has not undergone a series of finishing processes like most fabrics, and finally turned into a bright and flat fabric. The yarn of this piece of fabric is stretched, and the longitudinal shrinkage after washing can reach 12-16%, so before making, it is necessary to consider what changes will bring to this pair of jeans. Better fit and better looking, or weirder and uglier. When making, you cannot use a high-speed sewing machine to sew quickly like ordinary fabrics. If you are also making such fabrics, welcome to communicate with us!

      Yes, that's right, the pants of this period can be cut without edge banding, but I sealed them, and used a buttonhole machine and a button machine. Strictly speaking, it is not done by a machine, I just show the whole process of making it with one machine.

      It's in reference to the pattern, seam details, and method of assembly. One of the biggest differences with how jeans patterns used to be cut is that the waistband was a lot higher up. That's why you see a lot of people that wear them have suspenders on.

One thing that is more difficult, however, is that tailoring requires having to work with the contours of the body for many different body types. I’ve been both a tailor and a carpenter. Tailoring is much more difficult.
