      This is why I’m going to learn how to use my mums old sawing machine again, I used to be able too when I was a teen I’m 41 now so that was many moons ago. Now I feel inspired to sort out my clothes and fix them properly, I don’t like getting rid of clothes if I don’t have too.

    Thank you so much for this video. I've been sewing for a lot of years and do alterations for friends and family, but I've always said "No" to altering jeans. Now I feel I can tackle them after seeing this. I also have a number of pants that I need to let out the waistline and Women's pants don't usually have enough seam allowance to let out much. Like a lot of people, the pandemic has encouraged a lot of us to eat more and the resulting added pounds. LOL. I'm glad I found your channel and appreciate you taking the time to teach us.

    I have a few jeans I was going to give away because they don't fit. This is the perfect solution! I already have the elastic I need, and if I use technique #3 it will only take a little time. Yes yes...I know that #3 doesn't look as professional but sometimes I just want to get my sewing done and not take too much time on it!

    I would use either way. I already added fabric to a couple of pants. I used very tight black underwear that I couldn't wear because the stretch material was too strong. It works, but it isn't pretty because I made it up as I did it. I only wear over blouses, so no one sees. Thanks for this.

    Brilliant, just great, we have all at some time had to give away a great pair of Jean's that we loved wearing because we put on weight and they didn't fit us any more, hopefully this will be the answer, for me to re love wearing those Jean's again, as a really great pair of Jean's that fits well is hard to find and best of all, your video advice can save me money, I love that, what a great channel, I love sewing, very interesting, I really liked it I subscribed, I gave it thumbs up, I commented and I saved your videos to my playlist, thank you for sharing this and for making the videos, it's so very helpful. So glad I found this video! A friend of mine asked for help to enlarge the waist of a pair of suit pants because he now has an ileostomy. He needs more room in the waist for comfort, and to allow for expansion throughout the day as the bag fills. This alteration will not show because the suit jacket will cover it. He specifically requested elastic if at all possible, so I believe this will work.Thank you so much. You are an excellent teacher!

    For many years, my mom was a seamstress for Frances Brusters in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She would take for otherwise a slim woman and alter the dress for a larger figure. She was very good at her craft. Although she wouldn't use this at Frances Brusters, she would make my clothes, shirts, pants, and jackets for school. Watching this video reminds me of just how talented mom and you are.

    Thank you so much for another amazing video. This looks fairly easy, but I like the one where you replace the pocket, the best. Thanks again 😊

    What was the thick elastic that you showed at the end? I need to do this for my work pants because I can’t zip them up or button them. The because the sizing is so off the rest of it fits perfectly it’s just I can’t zip them or button them. I wash my work pants like every other day so I need a really thick elastic that’s going to hold up which one do you recommend, that I can get in the states. Thank you! Love you videos!

      I think I got this elastic at Cleaner's Supply. It was long ago. Before the pandemic.

    I love both but prefer the second one. A.) I'm a novice so fewer steps are better B.) They're jeans not pants/slacks so it doesn't need to be professional. Also, I'd probably use a colorful elastic to try and make the extension appear deliberate....by design 😊 Thank you so much for sharing! ❤

    Thank you I was able to do the second one on a pair of pants. It helped a lot and made it easy and quick.

    Would any of these techniques work on women’s trouser ? The trousers I Have are similar to the the video you have using the Royal Blue trousers to let the waist out … I would like to add a elasticity there on the side

    Amazing! The 1st option is very clean and sturdy. Option 2 was good for a simpler fix. I wish i had a sewing machine. I'm looking for a by hand tutorial

    Thank you for your help. Do I have to do both sides?

    • @DowntownTailoring
      @DowntownTailoring  3 года назад

      Hi. If you'd like to do just one side, you can try to insert the elastic at the center back. Otherwise it loses symmetry.

    Hoping to try this soon - I received a pair of jeans for last Christmas and even though they were ordered correctly they came in a size too small for the waist area. :( hoping I can try this and make them work.
