    I love how you found a way to keep the pocket! The only thing I will add is topstitching under the elastic to look like the rest of the waistband!

    • @DowntownTailoring
      @DowntownTailoring  2 года назад +14

      Yes! I'm gonna do that and post a picture on the community post. I was afraid that the thick thread could reduce the elasticity and comfort but they are lose enough that I can safely top stitch. Thanks for the input 🥰

    That's quite clever.
    I have narrow hips/legs and a somewhat thick waist, despite not being at all overweight...so finding pants that fit is always a challenge. And who doesn't hate the constant pinching of a too tight waistband 😆.
    Although if I was using an old jeans for material anyway, I would be tempted, to replace the front part of the waistband. It would add work, but would look even neater.
    In any case - I think, I prefer this to adding a triangle at the side seam 👍

    I like keeping the pocket! This is clever. You could also replace the waistband if you didn't want to have that missing from the part above the pocket. Or pick apart the waistband from the pockets to the back and piece in another piece of stretchy jeans at the center back of the waistband, then reattach. That would help with fit and you wouldn't need to mess with the zipper and button part still and keep from adding a lot of bulk by the pockets. I've pieced into the waistband like that before but it would be cool to try with this too.
