Such a great idea about reusing the bed pillows. I frequently reuse stuffing from all kinds of pillows but for some reason it never occurred to me to wash and reuse the stuffing from bed pillows.
Love all these crafty ideas for upcycling denim. The pillow technique used to make a tablerunner or placemats is a great way to get my granddaughters used to just sewing straight seams & improving control of their machine speed. They'll be blown away by the tassels. Thanks so much !
I dropped a permanent dark blue marker on a new yellow shirt. The shirt had blotchy blue flowers, one of which is a little bluer and blotchier then before. I got lucky. I had to turn the shirt inside out to find it. That was maybe 20 years ago and how many washings? Still have the shirt only ware it to bed. Turn it inside out and there it is. Faded but so is the shirt. Maybe me too.
My favourites are the bucket hat (I recently lost mine) and the tassels for the cushion. I made a cushion doll for a grandchild a little while ago, and the arms ended up inside the body. I liked your reminder the tassels should start on the inside to end up on the outside, shame I didn't see this until after having to remake Little Miss Sunshine! :)
@@CatherineSews skip the tea, warm some honey on the microwave (10 secs each time) and a couple of lemon drops to diminish the sweetness. Honey lubricates your throat like anything else and it's slightly antibacterial so it helps if you have an infection. Recently found your channel and I'm fascinated with it. Hope you get better soon.
Wow. Denim day with with my protein bar lunch. Yay. These projects are so cute. I love that pillow so much. Fantastic. The tassels were a great addition. I remember that sweater up cycle 😀. Thanks for all the great tips. I also purchased a digital bucket hat pattern last summer on Etsy…that I haven’t used yet. I love the way you attached the brim to the hat. I can’t wait yo give it a try. Thanks again
Wow ! I love all of these projects and it's so cool that you use only scrap fabric👏 Recycled is definately the way to go. Thank you so much for sharing, you are an inspiration ! 🙏The cushion cover is absolutely beautiful, I LOVE it ! 👍💕 Am off to wade through my scrap fabric now 😉😄
Yes! Now I have project to make out of the jeans that I have from when my son was little. He just moved out 2 months ago. 😥 I'm going to make him the pillow. Gave it a thumbs up.
So many have been sick lately! My husband and I had Covid after Thanksgiving and our older daughter’s family had the flu. Lots of germs floating around! Sorry you’ve been sick. Love your gift ideas using denim..😊 It’s amazing what you can do with small scraps. Last year I made denim tote bags out of my husband’s old jeans. I have a lot of scraps left over, so now I’ve got some ideas of how to use them! Thanks Catherine….❤️-Brenda
Nice to hear from you, Brenda, and I'm glad you and your family have gotten over all of the nasty bugs going around. And I'm so pleased that you like my denim scrap gift ideas! A denim tote bag is a lovely idea too.
Oh my goodness this has to be one of my most favorite videos of all time. I’ve already watched it two times. I’m going to save it and try a number of the things you showed. I absolutely adore denim. Thank you so much for all your time, work and effort you took for us. And your voice sounds adorable by the way, lol. I love your denim projects. I buy a lot of denim from Goodwill. Just in case. I’ve learned a lot from you, I save zippers, pockets, belt loops etc. Thanks again you’re fun to watch.
Oh my goodness I thought I was the only one saving buttons, zippers etc. My mom always did and so there ya go. That thing about the apple - you know the one. LOL Happy sewing. 🪡
Hope you feel better soon. I have a spoon of honey dissolved in hot water for sore throat and my OH swears by honey in warmed whiskey.... enjoy if you try these. Have a wonderful Christmas...
@@CatherineSews i like amaretto when i have a cold/ virus. It tastes good and it's soothing. I also like to make a hot drink from some orange juice, a splash of lemon juice a spoonful of honey and a little bit of water. Mix together and warm it up on the stove or in the microwave. It's good.
I love your tutorials. My mother taught me to sew, and it is a skill that has been so useful throughout my life. I will always be appreciative that she took the time to teach me. It is a good thing that you are teaching this skill to others.
Every one of these projects is inspiring. 26:00 I make polar fleece hats with pom-poms on top. When I make the pom-pom, I leave the yarn used to tie it together about 6" long. I then use a darning needle to stich that 6" yarn through the hat on each side of the center top seam. A good tight knot on the inside, and I have a perfectly placed pom-pom. I think that method could be adapted for your tassels which would reduce bulk at the corners when you sew the pillow cover together.
Love the pillow covers! 💕 Your choice of denim colors. I will be using that method for gifts! Oh love the buttons on pillow covers! Best wishes ❤️ Hope your voice is better! Try Vitamin C and Zinc Let them desolve in mouth together.
Just ran across your video. Thanks for this. Hope your voice is doing better. Perhaps steaming over a bowl with a few drops of lavender in it might help? Also, a humidifier is a beautiful thing! Looking forward to more from you when you're feeling better!

I think this is the first time I've seen your tutorials. I LOVE what you've created with denim! I'll have to check out your other videos too. Thanks for sharing! 😊
@@CatherineSews Thanks! You're the first person to comment on it! The redeemed is two-fold....my soul has been redeemed by Jesus blood when I gave my life to Him....and also, I love "redeeming" vintage sewing machines so they can "live again". 🤣 I have some treadle and hand crank machines and love using them even more than my electric one! The "vintage" word doesn't refer to ME.... I'm not that old yet. 🤣 Although it's all in perspective....I probably am to some!
What great ideas! I have already done two projects I learned from you-- I made a baseball style shirt traced from another shirt, and made the arms out of a "Red for Ed" shirt--It says I'm a Tennessee teacher. I also put two pairs of skinny jeans together. I will definitely be making some of these projects. Thank you so much! I hope you get over your sultry voice soon! 😆
I love the ribbon you used on the bottle bag. I'm surprised you tried to force it through the casing. I would have sewn one half of the ribbon onto elastic (or some plain cord) and the other half onto the other end of the elastic. Thread the elastic through the casing and pin it in place whilst you attach the ribbon. There should be a small amount of the ribbon going into the casing just so the elastic can't be seen.
Love all these, I watch videos on my big TV so in order for me to comment I must jump on this tablet….blah blah blah…..all that to say, I love to make bucket hats! And I’ve made so many from scraps. Just found your vlogs….thanks for sharing these GREAT ideas….it’s that time of year again…..gifts galore!
Those are all great projects! My stash is a lot smaller now that I live in an apartment rather than a house, but I might have some scraps for some of these. I especially like the tissue pack cover! Small, quick, cute, and just about everyone could use one!
Upcycled denim projects are my fave! Thank you for the inspiration, Catherine, froggy voice and all! You can get large jeans at Goodwill by-the-pound locations. My local thrift store clearances jeans for $.25 if they don't sell. Working on a patchwork skirt for my daughter and have done a pieced rug and seascape wall hanging.
I just found your video today. I'm very impressed. You gave detailed instructions so well as you were sewing. I will be looking for more from you. Great job, thanks.
A timely tutorial. I recently failed to discard a pair of jeans that no longer fit because it seemed they might be good for something! Thanks for all the ideas.

I am really enjoying your tutorials. I haven't tried anything yet, but they are so fun to watch and I do plan to try my hand. I have plenty of old jeans I've set aside.
