  • A couple months ago, we made a video about Chase's initial thoughts when he switched to the Michelin Wild Enduro mtb tires. We didn't expect these tires to get as much hype as they did! We decided to do a video with our long term conclusions! They are great!

      @@tarikmoore849 I agree... I had der baron's on my intense carbine and went with wild enduros on my 2020 enduro... After about 1 month I switched the michelin to der barons. I bought my first pair of Michelin tires thanks to the first impression video you guys made. Really happy with the tires, however, I noticed that after 60 miles of riding (aggressive riding 70% of the time) the rear tire looks very wore, some knobs are about to fall apart 😕. I'm even considering putting another michelin Enduro Front in the rear. What do you guys think of that setting? Front and front? 🤔

    • @Blake_Cherubini
      @Blake_Cherubini  4 года назад

      Our rear tires also started chunking a bit on the side knobs and in the middle a little also. I feel like that’s just something that happens with any tire when riding aggressively. Although, we noticed Maxxis wore way faster. We’ve never tried front and front. My guess is that it would be slower rolling due to the wider spaced knobs. Not sure how that would affect wear

    I tried the wild enduro combo this spring for a change (usually on maxxis) and had pretty mixed results. Tires ride really well on soft dirt but don’t like loose over hardpack. Less predictable in most conditions compared to DHF/DHR. Also managed to rip half the knobs off the rear tire in the first month before tearing the bead off the casing doing a cuttie. Cool to see a different perspective though!

      They seem to not like a lot of rock, which makes them subpar in places like Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, etc. similar problem to the Specialized Butcher, it's known for shedding cornering knobs on rocky trails (based on both reviews and seeing it for myself). I did a park day at Trestle with a couple friends monday and my Maxxis were still perfectly intact, with just a little more visible wear after the whole day, one of my friends had a fairly new Butcher on the front of his bike and had shed multiple cornering knobs by the end of the day.

    I've installed these recently here is what I've to say so far:
    I have 23mm rims Cush Core Pro, I installed 2.4 Michelin wild enduro front and rear there is something about the tyre that makes the front utrn over when track standing and doing slow turns, I've only tested it indoors not taken it for a ride yet. Mabye it's the stiff cornering knobs, thread pattern too mabye, mabye cus it's 2.4 too. I ran Maxxis MaxxTerra c3 Exo Shorty, High roller 2 depending on conditions. But the Wild Enduro front felt better more predictable, smoother turning, front end felt less floppy. I have a Geometron G1 about 62 deg head angle, use 33mm stem, so direct and great steering and stable bike, but this front tyre seems like it will improve things alot. But I don't know why for sure yet. But I see the roundness is good, the all looks good on 23mm rims. I've tested this with both rear tyre inflated to 26 psi and tyre flat, no air, it still felt good on the front, I had 24 psi in the front i did not test with full kit on yet I am 72kg naked, so I might be few hundred grams heavier with clotching and foot wear, but 86kg last time I weihd in fully kitted but now I have a neck brace too, so probably 87 kg now, I will test fully kitted as soon as I am well enough to ride.
    So I suspect it's might be the side knobs.

    I rode the Wild Enduro on my Capra and freaking loved them, just drop some on my Wreckoning as well. Paired with Cushcore, they are a beast! As for their DH tire, I rode 150km on the DH34 and they plain and simple sucks, it is not thaaaat bad of a rear tire but very draggy...but as a front tire? It scared the shit out of me, it was impossible to know when you would lose the front and I crashed a couples times before of them, the compound is much stiffer compared to the Wild one so less grip...and they roll really slow.. So trying a dual DH34 combo isn't even close to a dual DHR2 combo and nobody will win WC with them :p Wanted to put some time on the DH22 but they won't ship until mid September in Canada so fuck this shit, keeping the Wild :p

      Send 'er Buds I used mine in dh race and I got 3 from them for free and they grip nice. I used maxxis as well and I still go back for the Michelin front tire. Just like em cause they seem to grip on corners better like a regular run of the mill tire. Like the old days where you did not even care what tire you had. But after a couple races. You will find out. I have intense dh bikes. I even used intense tires. Not a big fan but they work. I’m gonna be getting more Michelin soon. I have a need for them for my other bikes.

    Had a wild enduro on the front. Was great in damp conditions (though most tyres are) and was good on loose rock but terrible on hard pack. Those side knobs are too far apart for any terrain that doesn’t deform. Back to Maxxis, soo much more versatility and better side walls.
