My grandmother was from Ischia. She used to make us the zucchini flowers for breakfast. She made a batter. She coated the flowers in the batter and lightly fried them in olive oil. Oh my God, they were so good, and I miss them so much. Excuse me now while I cry a little bit because I miss my Nonna.
My mom was from Italy too, and fried zucchini flowers was a highlight in the summer. They’re very easy to make. Egg, flour, salt and pepper. Coat the open flowers in the batter and fry, that’s it!

Never had squash flowers. Does it matter what kind of squash? I see you use zucchini, which I have but what about Acorn, spaghetti, butternut squash?
