I do mine totally different, and I absolutely love trying different variations of tried and true recipes. I'll definitely be giving this a try. Thanks for sharing!!
I'd love to know how you make yours! This is the only way I've ever known to make it, of course I know there are the variations of what kind of frosting you use (tub or homemade) and what kind of pudding you use, but beyond that, I've not heard anything different. Like you, I also love hearing about and trying different variations. 👩🏻🍳
@@OldTimeKnowledge I use the big 4.6 oz Cook & Serve Pudding mix...do a few layers with the crackers and refrigerate all day. Then right before serving I add the cool whip on top. I drizzle it with Hershey's Chocolate syrup, and then drag a butter knife through it gently in a couple of directions. Makes it look kinda fancy... lol! My Grandma and Great Grandma always made it like that. Love how you folded the Cool Whip in with your pudding and used frosting though! It's on my next shopping list. :)
@@JenniferBoggs77 You know what, now that you mention it it seems like I do remember making this once upon a time with Hershey syrup on top although the Cool Whip was still folded in. I had forgotten about the Hershey syrup thing but I must’ve been thinking about it because I chose Hershey frosting. 😄
HAHA! You won't regret it! 😁 After you do make this, come back and tell me what you think. Remember to let it sit in the fridge for at least 6 hours so that the graham crackers will get soft and you can cut slices out. 👩🏻🍳
For the chocolate layers, I melt chocolate chips 🍫 in a microwave on the “defrost” setting so it doesn’t burn the chocolate. Then I mix in some pure, cold pressed, unrefined coconut oil and stir it. Pour over your desserts and put in the fridge for 4 hours. This is the same way to make the hard shell chocolate for ice cream. I love that hard shell, and when coconut oil gets cold, it sets up hard.
this is delicious. only thing is i don't like Hershey's chocolate so I been trying find a good one to put on top. And I put mines in the freezer. mmmmmmm............................
Where is to call it icebox cake with vanilla and chocolate pudding layered pudding, graham cracker pudding graham cracker but what makes the graham crackers soft is using the pudding that you need to stir on the stove with the milk because once you start making those layers, the warm pudding really softens those graham crackers up so that’s how I make it then refrigerate
Thank you for sharing your method. We've been making it like this for years and the graham crackers soften up just fine - especially after it's been in the fridge for a couple of hours. Also thank you for watching and taking time to comment!
Hmm... you probably could, but then it would seem like a very different recipe. If you try it, let me know how it goes! I think I'd be worried that the Little Debbie snacks might get too soggy in this. The graham crackers hold some density because they're dryer to start with.
I'm a graham cracker anything and this is absolutely delicious and easy and fun great great stuff - thanks !
We love this dessert, too! Thank you for watching and taking time to comment!
Mmmmm chocolate eclair cake is my favorite thing my mom used to make when I was a kid - great video 👍👍👍

Oh, yep! I make homemade magic shell frequently. Never thought of using that on this particular dessert. Good idea though!
@@OldTimeKnowledge Homemade whip cream would make this taste a whole lot better!
Do you have to use the coconut oil a?
@@theresanorthcutt4545 I make a Ganache for the frosting ! Works great & whip cream instead of Cool Whip !
Looks great
Thank you!
Trying it tonight.
I hope it turned out for you and that you enjoyed making this recipe!
What about cost in this time all together..But I am ready to make it
I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!

My Aunt Jina used to do 1.5 C Milk & 1.5 C RUM. So good. Probably best not to take that variation to a church fellowship supper! 😜
I make a Caribbean Rum Cake but I've never heard of doing that with an eclair cake... I'm intrigued! 😁

Can you use little debbies instead of graham crackers?

Can v use fresh cream instead of whipping cream
You'll either need to use store-bought whipped topping or whipped cream, or you'll need to whip up heavy cream yourself to make the whipped cream.
Can I make half the recipe?
Sure! I don't see why not.
add some cream cheese in maybe too
Hmm... that's an interesting idea! If you try it, let me know how it turns out!
