Indeed, I could use white chocolate throughout and then add orange and lemon zest (or maybe berries) to make a fruity desert. My point is that this is a great basic recipe that begs to be tinkered with. My compliments.

Wow, that's great, in Mexico they sell some similar to that roll called Chocorroles hehehe, the only difference is that they are filled with cream and strawberry inside and also dipped in chocolate but without peanuts and they are smaller, but they are products from a company called Marinela owned from the Bimbo group, I don't know if it exists in your country but you made me feel a great need to eat these delicious desserts hehe, good video, very delicious, you can see the roll
I love this cake recipe but I would use just whipped cream as the filling and Chocolate Ganache as the frosting over the outside of the cake. Chocolate Ganache is very easy to make and very delicious. You just need the same amount of dark chocolate and whipping cream, ie 250gm dark chocolate to 250ml cream. Then you heat the cream to simmering point, and stir in the broken up chocolate pieces until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture looks like a chocolate sauce. You can then stir a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a couple of tablespoons of rum/ brandy/Bailey's Irish Cream/Tia Maria or whatever liqueur you prefer into the Chocolate Ganache mixture. Then, scrape the mixture into a bowl and beat it with electric beaters on low speed until the Ganache is thick and slightly lighter in colour. It's now ready to spread over the cake. When I make this for a Christmas dessert cake I dust it with icing sugar and put a couple of fake holly leaves and berries on it. You can also make this cake into the French version of Christmas cake which is called 'Buche de Noel' or Christmas Log in English! It's made the same way as this cake, but you cut a piece off one end and make the cake look like a log of wood. In France, they use a buttercream frosting for the filling and over the outside of the cake. I really recommend looking up the recipe 😋

Warning! If you boil condensed milk still in the can (2-3 hours for spreading consistency)……make sure it’s completely cool before opening it…..or, you’ll have caramel aaaaaaaall over your kitchen and very hot caramel on you! 😵💫
May we please address the best way to boil the sweetened condensed milk? Some folks have alluded to boiling it while still in unopened can. I assumed you poured it into a saucepan and boiled it. What is the correct/best/easiest technique? Thanks in advance for advice.

I find a lot of baking videos do the same thing…they never fully scrape out the bowls and I find it annoying but I just tell myself that they do that just to cut the time short but I would also like to think that they actually do clean out the bowls but we just don’t see it. Otherwise I don’t know why they don’t.

giving this recipe a try but I wish there was more description for how your whipped cream went from very soft to firm. I can't seem to get mine to firm up, might be a waste :'( of time and ingredients if it is too soft to put in the center. Yours looks lovely, wanted to try it.
