There is something strange with hot summers in Scandinavia. The heat feels so much warmer than in southern Europe at the same temperature. People coming to Sweden from other countries say the same. I’m not sure if it’s the humidity, the thinner ozone layer or what it is.

      Two things to concider:
      - Long days. You can have 18h sunlight in Stockholm on midsummers eve.
      - Houses and indoors climate are optimized for energy conservation and battling cold. AC (as for private housing) is a novelty.

Did my conscription as Armored Infantry, the boys riding in the CV90 IFVs in this video (not those soldiers specifically, but that army branch 😅). Armored infantry is all about attack attack attack. So facing sneaky K3 Jaegers was always frustrating with their hit n run attacks.Their mission was to delay and Armored infantry moves in to destroy.
The first exercise we had with K3 as opfor they took out an AA vehicle. We turned back to secure it. En route the recovery vehicle is knocked out. When we finally arrive, our gunners spot the Jaegers in a treeline. They had not left. So we lined up the vehicles and charged.
Our gunner told us later that he had seen umpires grabbing the Jaegers and pushing them into the woods. They obviously knew what was coming. We crashed into the trees, dismounted where the Jaegers had been hiding and went after them with all the guns we had.
After the exercise, the Jaegers officer visited us and thanked us for teaching his Jaegers a valuable lesson. Never allow Armored infantry to pin you down or line up for a charge.
That was the only exercise we ever saw Jaegers. But in every exercise we would lose vehicles to our rear 😂

So far this series, except for the last episode, has generated 90 500 views and If I remember the subscription figures, 400 new subscribers. I think your way of presenting these episodes with this higher frequency gives you more views and I feel I get more involved, and "entrenched" in the subject of the series. A good thing. And your comments are 75% of the whole thing🙂

In this context "Jägare" should be translated as "Ranger" not "hunter". They are special forces trained to operate for extended periods behind enemy lines, living off the land and disrupting enemy activities in small units. They're not hunting elks...

K3 Karlsborg. My home regiment as an Airborne ranger (fallskärmsjägare, literally parachute hunter). Platoon officer of the recon platoon is what I started out at. I'd like to say that I'm real tough and didn't find it hard at all but that would be a lie. Sleep deprivation and cold and wet weather was not fun at all.

Mate, it has probably been said in some comment before, but it's not "hunter". It's just bad auto translation. JÄGARE in direct translation is "hunter" yes, but it's not what the tab signifies. JÄGARE in this context means RANGER, so it's a RANGER tab they earn.

The CV-90 IFV is very much in service, but the other vehicle that looks like a “smallish” battle tank is the IKV 91. It has not been in service for at least 20 years. However, they keep a few in order to ‘simulate’ main battle tanks in exercises like this one. It looks like a main battle tank, MBT, but is smaller and weighs just 15 tons. In 1975-2000(?) they were used as infantry support vehicles and light tank-destroyers.

They say in the video that they will be dropped off from the helicopters "a few miles outside Karlsborg, and then taking a very long detour around minefields to reach the anti-aircraft unit they are to attack". That's Swedish miles. A Swedish mile is ten kilometers. What would that be in English miles, six and a half miles or so? So "a few miles" would be a bit longer than you might expect, six and a half times longer. And with that long detour on top of that, quite a long bit to march.

If one doesn't take up employment after the military service, you can still be "war placed"(Krigsplacerad), that means in case of war or crisis and the government would execute mobilisation, you have a unit or position where you would be serving, a civilian can be war placed as well, in your civilian occupation, a lot of civilian services would still need to be provided in case of war, e.g healthcare, power/electricity, IT etc etc. So as example, I did my military service a couple of years ago as a reconnaissance soldier in an armoured regiment(quite close to Karlsborg), and I'm war placed as mechanized infantry.
Interesting to take part of your opionon and thoughts!

To make something clear, when they subtitle "miles" they mean Swedish "mil" and 1 Swedish "mil" is 10 kilometers. I have to mention this because it makes it sound so "lame" when they say for example "they put us down 5 miles outside Karlsborg" when that is actually 50 kilometers.
