It’s another RUclips series like this one from the Swedish Armed Forces about the training and education of fighter jet pilots. On the 15th of June 2018 the recruits we followed from K 3 military discharged.
38 took employment, 14 took part-time employment and 4 recruits took no type of employment.
Winston took part-time employment on K 3. Travelled to New Zealand to work as a bartender. The plan is to become an engineer (Not in the military)
Anton continued education and became an Airborne Jaeger and works at K 3 today
Carl took employment as a soldier at K 3. He is fully recovered after his injury and plans to do the Hunter test, in spring 2019
Tobias took part-time employment at K 3, He works as a site manager at a construction company in Malmö. He is also part of a charity project that raises money for the Children's Cancer Fund.
Axel took part-time employment as a soldier at K 3 and during the spring of 2019 he worked at a ski resort in Austria
Antonis took part-time employment as a soldier at K 3. He is an athletics trainer and works in a store. Soon, he aims to be a policeman
Paju took employment as a soldier at K3
Simon works as a soldier at K3 but will change the unit to the "Life Guard" in Stockholm
Alexander was given the Hunter bow after a hunter test in the autumn of 2018 and, today, he works at K 3
Josefine took employment as a soldier at K3
I met Josefin last summer, she is now working at K4 up north.
38 recruits got a Continuous employee, 14 recruits a Temporary employee and 4 left the armed forces. So pretty good results that the armed forces got to keep a bunch of the good men and the lady 👍
MUCK means "Militär Utryckning i Civila Kläder", translates to something like Military discharge in civilian clothes. But are also used when you're freed from prison, so it originates from the romani word Mukk which means "free" or "freedom".

Yes, that idea that it is an acronym for Military Discharge, Civilian Clothes is a myth. It is Romani, as you say. Really good series! Really good react. Balanced, knowledgeable and intelligent. Had to see it in its entirety even though I’ve seen most episodes before. Also, as Swedish ex-military, i feel proud over the young recruits, the way they put in the hard work, but also How they team up, and the way they resonate about themselves and their struggles. F ing mature really. Finally gotta give extra cred to Josefine, even though she claimed to not think about being a woman among all the men, it certainly had some impact. Carrying that Big Bergen probably was 1,5x her bodyweight. Just a total beast!
He did say 7 km but I think he's not talking about the full distance, only that their lace has slowed down so much they only covered 7 km in the last four stretches. Earlier in the clip they said the first mile went well, this is 10 km...so they had probably walked at least 17 km,probably more.
Not sure how far they walk in total, but I do remember this was a living hell, we also did it under a hot summer sun
Yes, I think he thought he was at another place which gave him fewer kilometres than they actually walked.
The soldier in the wheelchair got the jaeger badge eventually, most likely because he was inside the ancient defensive wall that goes around the fort/base when he collapsed, even if he didn’t run up to the “welcome committee”. He was inside the wall.
Hello! I think you should watch the 17 episode series on "the path to fighter pilot", from the Swedish Air Force. The Swedish fighter pilot training, from day 1 to final JAS 39 Gripen fighter pilot. Type "vägen till stridspilot" in Swedish, ("the path to fighter pilot translated into English) on RUclips you will find all the episodes.

@@Coole-ee1vg I translated directly from the Swedish title which is "Vägen till stridspilot". Vägen in Swedish means road or path. So the correct translation should then be "The Road to fighter pilot". Better than path.

From my experience from the swedish army. Women tend to be physically weaker, but way more mentally stronger (which will add on to their strenght in the end). I have been impressed by many female soldiers during my years.

In this case it's properly translated, but they have often been translating "mil" as "mile". Usually, they're talking about metric miles, i.e. 10km.
Another couple of common mistranslations in this series are "kom", which means "over" when talking on the radio. Here it's usually translated as "came", which is completely off in this context. When the subs say "end came" it means "out, over".
Also, when they were talking about sharpshooting it refers to live fire, ("skarpskytt" is swedish for "sharpshooter", while "skjuta skarpt" is "firing live [ammunition]").
There are lots of these small mistranslations all over the place, so you'll just have to use your imagination.
What you need to know is that this regiment is an elite, maybe 2% of the armed forces. Very well motivated and prepared long before training actually starting. Still, they are a pretty standout military unit.

I myself did my military training in 1986-1987 for 15 months in the Swedish Royal Navy. On board as group leader, on HMS Luleå a robot boat.

Havent seen the episode yet, looking forward to it! There are a bunch of other different Ranger units in Sweden like para, coastal, mountain/arctic, the armys hunter bat, airforce rangers, could have missed one. Might wanna check some of them out aswell. (they dont have these sort of documentaries though.) ✌

The l*nk was about the test results one get at the draft office, e.g what they demand for people who do their military service as e.g Jägare. Paratrooper like Anton is not something that conscripts are eligable for, and the paratroopers is a step up from this, requires more tests and trials.
Anyways, just wanted to explain that while this is national service, or a draft, there is around 100k young people each year, but since they call less than 10% each year it is usually motivated people who do military service, as would be the case with this group we saw in the serie.
I think they experimented this year 23/24 to see if they would notice any difference in performance when they called a number of people who were less "interested/motivated". If the number of conscripts is to be increased, which is the plan, they might have to continue to do so in the future, unless they want to lower the standards(whih they won't do).
It is a hate-love thing, I did not take up employtment, I was on the fence, it was a great time, but I had other plans(in Uni now) and I did my military service during the peak of covid which made it a bit special, we had 6 weeks in and 1 week leave when it was at it's worst, thats not the case normally.

Training for the ranger test could be a cross-country "yomp", with a 70-kilo pack, from Catterick to Barnsley South Yorkshire. (Avoid built-up areas) Follow this with an unloaded walk (10km) and a run at the end (about 10 km) within 48 hours, the first time 😜. It would be great to follow that here in your channel. I looked into your published videos and I saw you like challenges, as in your 131-mile march in 48 hours. Get cracking 🤪
Seeing the cermony at the end I was reminded of when I was promoted to corporal (P7 Revingehed).
Our major was really old-fashioned, so he was trying to keep old traditions alive. Nor everybody got it, but I was one of the ones who recieved a proper dubbing ceremony for my promotion. You know the old 'kneeling, sabre-on-shoulder' kind of promotion.
It's a memory for sure.

”Utryckning” is a word for finishing military training, so it roughly translates to “Military Graduation, Civilian Clothes”

Very good reaction video series ... one good thing you could look into in term of "reactions" is the very good Swedish defense industry that is just punching out the weight of such a "small" nation, I mean we deliver Swedish produced:
- Carl-Gustaf - Grenade Launcher
- AT4 - best one-time-use grenade launcher
- Archer - one of the best "shoot-and-scoot" artillery systems in the world
- CV90 - one of the best infantery band wagon in the world
- U-boats - Gotland class - sinked Ronald Reagan Aircraft Carrier in war practice - several times

Yup, that's the Armed Forces Consript Medal awarded to anyone who completes military concription service (these days it might be called the Military Basic Education Medal, since not all who do basic are conscripts these days).
My experience with long marches (nothing that even comes close to this) is how much it helps to focus on something else, something positive. The clearest memory I have from my berret test is how bright with stars the sky was. As a city boy, I hadn't really seen anything like it. It was incredible. Some of my friends walked almost bent over, one hekd on to my backpack as to not fall over if he fell asleep or tripped, but I had one of the most incredible nights of my life.

Muck means Militär utryckning i civila kläder, so something like military deployment in civilian clothing. So it's kind of a joke name that stuck, but also a reminder that, atleast back in the days, the majority of all swedish men were trained soldiers and expected to redeploy whenever.
Muck is basically the military equivalent of graduation.
I did my GU at K3.

Hunters' marches can vary in distance, but most often they are around 90 kilometers (56 miles), but they can be both more or less.
How much the pack weighs can vary also you have what you must have, but then you can also pack your own things, then there is also certain equipment such as radio etc. that does not need to be in all equipment. a minimum of 25 kg plus your weapon, but it can also weigh up to 50 kg 110.231 lb.
From what I've heard, it's the fact that you're walking with such a heavy pack that makes it really tough.
It’s definitely done heavy weight and long distance, well done to anyone who attempts and passes.
Most of them became professional, or part-time, soldiers. But even the conscripts that didn’t seek employment, they became part of the military reserve. They will be called back every four years or so for 1-4 weeks of repetitions training. If there is war in Sweden they would also be mobilized, with all other former conscripts that are not too old for their military roles.
Alexander completed the jaeger test a few months later and got the jaeger patch.

The subtitles are not really accurate. A mile in Sweden is not an imperial mile. It is 10 kilometers.
So the distance covered is far longer than it seems in the video.

But there is more units to name...parachuterangers, coastrangers, amfibierangers, diverse, attackdivers bombdivers and many many more....
Just a comment on the litter carriers not running it all depends on the distance. If you have an unknown distance you can't run all the way. We had to carry casualties for 5 miles (imperial) when i was in training in the US army. You cant sprint with a big guy that far.

Knowing that these guys are now your official allies. Sweden and the UK have unofficially been allies for a very long time but now with Sweden being in Nato it is finally official.
Military service for men was mandatory until 2008 in Sweden... Sort of. Between 1997 and 2000 the number of recruits was doped by half. And to 2008 it was again dropped by half.
In the 80s females was alowed to join conscription voluntary
In 2010 it was switched to a all voluntary conscription. So in effect from that date on it was at least theoretically same rules for men and women.
Even when there was full conscription typically 25-35% was rejected for service. That reaction rate increased drastically in the 00s.
In the period conscription was mandatory people who for some reason or other didn´t want to handle weapons, there was specially weapons free duties for them.
They are ramping up conscription considerably now and expected to hit 8000 educated this year.
In the olden days everyone (well every man) had to go for basic army testing, this typically happen quite soon after you turn 18 where they do a large number of test.
Now days there is a additional pre selection. First people get digitally preselected, and about 25% is filted to additional screening, then of that about 35% goes to full training. Gold is to hit the same recruitment level as in 2005, about twice that of 2018 when this documentary was recorded.
25-35% rejected? I'm surprised, I thought it was far less. My gut feeling is that almost every Swedish male born in about 1950 - 1975 once was a conscript, but I have no numbers back it up.
Back in the day it was met with suspicion if you came to a job interview and said you didn't do it, when asked where you did your service. Like, "really, why? What's wrong with you?". At least, that's what my father told me, probably because he wanted at least one of his sons to be in the military for a while. 😅

That number is for the early 90s, it was probobly steeped down a bit even than. Not only was the defense spending a bit down, but population was also up.
I could not find numbers for pre year 1990, maybe they are not yet officially published.

Iam not sure if Temp or Continued emplyment changes now when Sweden joined NATO, may be more who stays in the Military. Not sure how the future is just that we are increasing the Military personal so.
We will still have K and T employed but we need more officers to fill the positions inside the NATO administration as well as having the staff to our educational units that handle the conscription training which will increase slightly. The next batch will be 10 000 men and women. I also think we will get more combat manoeuvring units that need officers, employed and conscripts. So the same structure but increased size.

Muck is in sweden used when you are "released" from military service. It comes from romani "mukk", (also used when someone is released from prison)
