How Digital Patterns Are Made

  • Theres always so much mystery behind the sewing patterns, and i thought it could be fun to touch on how they are created from concept to production! My process is definitely a little different than larger brands, but that's because I feel like there's a big gap between the actual customer, and the brands themselves! I would be happy to touch more in depth on this if you guys are interested!

I’m new to your page as a subscriber, after stumbling across your videos once in a blue moon for a while. I love, love your style!! I know that your patterns are available on Patreon, but you’ve also mentioned they’re available to the public. How does that work/where do I find them? I’ll probably end up joining your Patreon anyway, because I know there’s stuff there that doesn’t get released elsewhere - I think? - but I’m not really sure how it works. I don’t remember not knowing how to sew, and I have clear memories of events starting from age two. I’ve always had a love for sewing, partly because my body just doesn’t conform to standard sizing. Last I checked, my bust, waist and hips belonged to three different sizes 😹😹 and I stand 5’0” tall (if I haven’t shrunk again) in stocking feet. Thank the Goddess for heels!! I’ve always wanted to be able to design my own clothing, but have never had the nerve or know how to try. That’s a little bit about me so that maybe you can steer me in the best direction for involvement with your page? Patreon? Whatever? I’m going to trust you that you will actually look at where I should be, rather than what makes you the most money - you have a trustworthy face and seem like a nice guy - though I’m likely nuts for doing so and my friends would have a good howl if they ever read this!! I really hope that you see this and answer. I know some popular RUclipsrs can’t keep up with their comments, so … 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Gunnar, I’m a watercolor artist and I admire your unique paintings, sketches and drawings. You’re actually very good at it. You have a unique style that most people require 4-8 years of art school to achieve. Show it off! Don’t judge it, it’s good work. I bet you could have a killer gallery solo show with all of your 2D visual art. I know that is certainly an art show I would attend.
You are an artist. Your medium is textiles. You can make beauty from nothing, whether on paper or paper dresses. That’s art!

I always remember the wonder I felt when a girl I knew in college layed out some newspaper on the floor and started cutting out a pattern. I never thought of regular people doing such a thing; patterns were something you bought ready made! I'm still in awe of people like you who can create such amazing garments! Love your videos and watch them all!!!

Yesss!! I have an obsession with the 50's dresses. I have to wear them with the flared petticoat underneath. Now, it's called Vintage dresses. I'm self taught, so I'm always learning. That's my niche in sewing. Hope to video some of my sewing soon.

I'm self taught, been sewing since I was 5, and my sketches are horrible! I'm glad I'm not alone, though I don't think yours are bad at all. I always feel embarrassed showing clients what I'm thinking. At least most of my clients have seen my work so they know I sew better than sketching. That program is also amazing!

I took up sewing in junior high. It's not that I loved it. It's just that it was the only elective I could take. Fast forward 5 years and I was sewing coats and jackets and loving every minute. Then I got married and hubby thought it was a waste of time, so I stopped. I got rid of that husband.
As a single mom, I had to work and didn't have much time to sew. Years later, now, and I want to pick it up again. New hubby thinks sewing is a great thing to do! We're in the process of moving from one province to another so it may take a bit of time to get the move out of the way and my sewing room set up.
I love your videos and am so pleased you've made a channel that I can lean on when I get stuck. Thank-you.

  •  2 года назад +4

In Brazil we call that style of creating "moulage" (yes, french) and I think it's very cool. I went to School to learn dress making but the style I learned is made directly on paper, we just get the clients measurements and then start working the design on the paper, and there's a lot of math involved. I really liked your video, great content.

You are soooo special! I am so glad that your grandmother took the time to teach you to sew. I'll bet even she had no idea the greatness that is set before you! Much love, my friend! 💋💚💙💜

This is so cool! I have a passion for sewing and for art, and recently I graduated for 3d modeling and animation so I immediately recognized the Marvelous Designer program, but I had no idea that fashion designers and pattern makers used it as well! I had just assumed it was for creating 3d costumes for games and animation. Absolutely fascinating!
