🫀🕊️❤️🩹 How endearingly sweet! I saw this in theatres back when it came out and always wondered about that. Thanks for pointing it out! I too suffer from a bad heart and unfortunately am at the bottom of the barrel in regards to the the transplant waiting list due to being born with numerous complex health conditions that make the odds of survival not in my favor. I travelled several times to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and they told me with such confidence and conviction that my at the time 8 years old self, that I’d never see my 15th birthday - I’m 30 now 🙂
I forgot how great the family interaction was in the first act! That's how they really get their hooks in you too. I had a friend watch this for the first time with me back in '04, and he cried on my shoulder for like 10 minutes after it was over. I guess because he didn't have the best relationship with his dad, and so seeing what a real father would act like just kind of got to him.
You're right to get upset, because the movie was/is a reflection of the health care system in America. They say art imitates life after all. I don't think Kimberley Elise's (John's wife) character was a bad wife when she demanded he do something, just a scared mother who felt helpless and that's how her fear and frustration at the situation manifested when she realised they were sentencing her son to death by sending him home. Great acting all around though. PS I love how you freely you let your emotions show...got me out here shedding a tear 🥲
"I would probably go above and beyond for my kids" - That's wild! I think most would if they actually love their children and are devoted to their life.
@MrMcadamien When I first watched this movie that line hit so hard that it instantly became I how I say goodbye to everyone. I don't think I have said goodbye to anyone in decades.
Denzel is the goat of acting💯‼️ this movie would have my dad in tears and now that he’s gone it gets me too. All Ik is for my daughter we got that John q mindset
Flight, Devil In A Blue Dress, American Gangster, Malcolm X, Mo Betta Blues, Antwone Fisher, Man On Fire, He Got Game, The Bone Collector, Fences. All of these are great Denzel films. His catalog is top tier. I look forward to your Denzel reactions.
As a person with a condition and has to with the medical industry, this movie will always have a special ranking. Crazy how true this stuff still is years later in reality
Hey MJ, yes John Q (2002) was an underrated movie!! The ending almost got me emotional!! The health insurance is complete trash in this. Denzel Washington will always be known as a legend & this man is a tremendous actor. Man on Fire (2004) almost got me cry but it’s one of my favorite Denzel films so I hope you react to it!! Training Day is one of his bests & American Gangster is a good one too! Great reaction MJ❤
I can tell that you were genuine when you said that you want to make a difference. I think you’re selling yourself short by not thinking that you can. You have a platform where people come solely to hear what you have to say. You keep people entertained and engaged just by being you. If the healthcare system in our country is something that you’d like to change you can. You could mention it at the start or end of each of your videos to raise awareness. You could highlight organizations that are trying to fight the current system and help to bring in a new more compassionate form of healthcare. You could even start a new channel devoted just to enacting social change. You are very comfortable in front of a microphone and camera and have a wonderful personality for it. That combined with the fact that your an attractive young women and I guarantee people would view videos of you laying out flaws in current systems and offering ideas as to how we as a country could mend them. I know this is very long winded but believe me, you do have the power and ability to bring in change. If you want to.
Awesome movie! Idc how many times I see this movie…it’s the same reaction - anger, sadness, understanding and joy. The “thank you” at the end is the big finale for me lol face drenched with tears 😭
I remember seeing a bit of this movie as a kid on the TV and I never knew what was going on but I always remembered the name john Q and it always stuck with me. Denzel is such a good actor this and inside man I think are some of his best work. Oh, and the book of Eli is fantastic. These aren’t movie requests btw, I just thought of a few movies that Denzel was in that are underrated as hell. Love the reaction, might watch john Q in the future.
Stories like this are why im proud to be a Canadian 🇨🇦. Emergency heart surgeries like the one that Mikey needed in this movie are covered by our Federal Healthcare Services. Even if the cost isn't 100% covered, at least the bulk of it is and the surgery will go through before you are required to pay the balance. We also have private health insurance, which typically covers whatever Federal Healthcare can't/won't, giving Canadian citizens who either get private healthcare through their work, or who pay for it out of pocket, an extra safety net. So someone with John Q's level of coverage probably wouldn't have to pay a cent for the surgery.
I know first hand a medical emergency can happen when you least expect it. I was in the best shape of my adult life when I ended up in the ER in the middle of the night
Alot of people talk about the love of a mother and moms know best and i feel the role and love of a father is very over shadowed and under appreciated but this movie perfectly encapsulates the love of a father and i knew this about this movie even was i was a young boy watching this movie
Great reaction, loved it! Yes, our health care system leaves a LOT to be desired. IRL, There was a man whose son was declared brain dead, and they wanted to collect his organs for donation. The man barricaded himself in his son's hospital bed for hours (he felt it was too soon, that the son just needed more time). Right as the cops burst in, the son showed signs of life. His son went on to make a full recovery. He was prosecuted but says it was a small price to pay to have his son.
I would have liked to hear Denise admit that she didnt give John the respect he deserves. When your husband is doing EVERYTHING possible, dont talk to him like he's a useless bum just because of the circumstances.
The sad part is healthcare doesn't have to cost ANYWHERE what it is....anyone thats been in the hospital..you know how much aspirin costs then you send your family out to buy the same damn thing for a few bucks...

Another Classic Reaction from our Girl MJ !!! There truly is nothing fake about her Reactions at all & i literally get Goosebumps over 100% of my body when i hear MJ breakdown & cry uncontrollably the way she does & you can clearly tell that the Crying & The tears are 100% Truly Genuine & there isn't any acting for the camera at all. Ive seen a lot of channels that React to movies & they say that it is "FIRST REACTION" meaning they never seen it before the reaction they're filming but you can see how fake the reaction is by the way they OVERREACT during parts that are Emotional & you can clearly see when they are actually getting ready & preparing in their head for the part they need to cry to which just is clear as day that they've seen it before & you see the gears in their head just turning & Turning & getting ready for the BIG CRY SCENE....... MJ ISN'T LIKE THEM AT ALL, SHE IS GENUINE AT EVERY LEVEL & TURN OF THE MOVIE & SHE EVEN WILL LET THE VIEWERS KNOW BEFORE HAND THAT THEY'VE SEEN THIS PART BEFORE & SHE ISN'T TRYING TO FOOL THE VIEWERS AT ALL & ITS WHY I LOVE THIS CHANNEL AFTER JUST FINDING IT TODAY
The crazy thing is the legitimate questions and concerns about the healthcare in America in 2001; and here we are in 2024 and we haven't done hardly anything to improve it.
the crazy thing is, this movie is the premise for why the affordable health care act was put into place...and folks got mad that everybody was able to get Healthcare even without ins, cuz their premiums went up....the world is a very selfish place
It was never about selfishness, the premiums went so high that nobody could actually afford the premiums anymore. So they were paying for others to have insurance but in turn they couldn't afford it for themselves. That act was a false help for so many. And the poor got punished and hit with fines because they couldn't afford the ridiculously high premiums. It basically was a repeat of the previous care. Nobody could afford it, the poor got robbed for being poor and the government made a ton of money off of everyone.
For future reference, if someone dies and you go to a funeral don't ever say, ...well, it was God's will or God works in mysterious ways. In addition, don't ever say someone's suicide is a sin. You may have been taught those things in a church someplace, but it's completely disrespectful to say.

This is my favorite Denzel movie. Watching this after my middle son was diagnosed with cancer (brain tumor) this movie hits me on a whole different level! I would do ANYTHING for my kids! And I did have to advocate for my son and go against doctors at some points which I was told is why my son made it. And my son did get to a point where if he didn't have surgery to remove the tumor he wouldn't make it because chemo was no longer working. So I know exactly how they felt in that scene when they were told he needed a transplant. We were taken into a room with a lot of doctors to have a meeting just like that. My son also needed a bone marrow transplant. So this movie is always a hard watch for me now but I think it is very important ❤️
I went to the theater to see this when it came out. As a father of 2 it was sad and infuriating. I would do anything to save my children's lives. There was one time where I had to step in front of my son having an argument with another teenager with a gun. A father's duty to provide and protect holds dear to me. The part where he was told that he was "overqualified" ticked me off as well because it happened to me once. I didn't get a job because the company wanted someone who didn't have experience at the position I applied for. They were scared I would become too good at the position for the pay they were offering. I didn't care about the pay. I just needed to work. Last thing MJ don't ever say that you can't make a difference in the world because if you really try and put your heart and soul into what you believe in, you can make a difference.
there is no real John Q. However, in the film's commentary track between the director Nick and James Kearnes, the writer of the movie, they were told by the SWAT team advisors of a similar incident that took place in Toronto in 1998.
This did shed a light on what goes on. The Healthcare is broken & that's cause in about 2007 the wall street money makers were asked to take over. They did & felt everyone could afford $400-500 a month since they can.
Yeah this is one of Denzel's greatest movies! As John Q he and his wife have been having sucky luck trying to mae the money for a heart transplant for their son. It just wasn't right how they've been treating them when their kid's life was on the line and almost everybody wouldn't help them. So John did what he had to do and took the hospital hostage until they got his son the heart.
My question is how is the Mom and Son going to make it without John there as a provider? They were underwater WITH his income and before the transplant. I know the hospital paid for the transplant pro bono but there is rehab...medication costs...all that. How is the Mom going to be able to be there for her son's rehab and work enough to even keep them in a home?! I always wanted a followup movie exploring the aftermath. It's not just about the surgery. Many times it is the recovery that actually destroys families.
this heart breaking to see things a happen like this goes on everyday its should be like this here we to change the health issues in the world so everyone can get help in the world when needed hang in there mj dezel always brings greatness to the roles he plays.
I'm not gonna lie but @MJ WITHOUT SPIDER-MAN, that t-shirt of yours nearly distracted me for half the reaction. lol 😂Also, to address some of your earlier commentary in regards to helping John's son; the dilemma of just giving into John's demands under the threat of violence, would only serve to create far greater problems in the future because what would stop others in similar situations from resorting to the same actions as John's character did in this film. If every person suffering from such hardships as John chose his method of conflict resolution, it would create a great deal of disorder from a societal stand point and would most certainly result in more harm than good.
Great movie, it's definitely one that will hit you hard. He has a lot of great movies out there, Ricochet, Malcolm X, Philadelphia, The Preachers Wife, American Gangster, Man on Fire, Training Day, The Book of Eli. I was going to say Remember the Titans but I do remember your reaction to that. Love your reactions 🤍🙏🏼
This was hard for me to warch before i became a mother but its VERY HARD to watch because my daughter was born with a heart problem and i felt him from the beginning. No one said he was bad because they would have done the same for their kids and thats another big fear that parents have with children having health problems that its either go to the extreme and go to jail or lose your child
I was just watching you give the review and John Q the movie PS I have a question what is up with the white glove on your hand? Are you trying to push for a Michael Jackson being white glove? Lol
Denzel top 10 movies IMO to react to: 1.Training Day 2. John Q 3. Taking Pelham 123 4. Antwone Fisher 5. Man on Fire 6. The Book of Eli 7. Remember the Titans 8. Inside Man 9. American Gangster 10. Flight ** Fences, Out of Time, Safe House, Deja vu,
I had to go to the hospital for a panic attack .. thought I was dying .. called an ambulance and it was like 30k after the ekg and everything.. I ain't pay em .. they'll never take me alive lol
The director’s daughter Sasha actually went through a heart transplant that’s what the For Sasha was for in the ending.

Fallen is a very underrated Denzel Movie
"I would probably go above and beyond for my kids" - That's wild! I think most would if they actually love their children and are devoted to their life.
"Not goodbyes, I hate goodbyes, say see you later.." - Mikey
That's what I say to my parents every time I go to college.
@MrMcadamien When I first watched this movie that line hit so hard that it instantly became I how I say goodbye to everyone. I don't think I have said goodbye to anyone in decades.
Malcolm X, The Hurricane, Glory, He Got Game, and Training Day are Denzel Washington's greatest acting performances of all time!
He's also in Cry Freedom ,about South African Civil rights activists Steve Biko.
Also #RememberTheTitans
All of Denzel's acting performances are great. I liked him in Malcolm X & Training Day the most.
Facts
Malcolm X is my favorite movie by him
Phenomenal actor
U gonna leave out American gangster 😮
Just found you on RUclips. You've already made a difference in the world. Never count yourself out.
"Training Day" is a GREAT one. Denzel won a ACADEMY AWARD for this one, for best actor.
“The Taking of Pelham 123” 2009 version is a good Denzel Movie to put on the list
Unstoppable , great movie with denzel
MJ you just reacted to one of Denzel's Top 5 greatest movies of all time IMO, and i thank you for that...
"Flight" is a great denzel movie and also "American gangster" one of my favorites from him.
Denzel is the goat of acting💯‼️ this movie would have my dad in tears and now that he’s gone it gets me too. All Ik is for my daughter we got that John q mindset

As someone who recently had a kidney transplant this movie hits differently than it did when i watched it years ago
my dads gonna have his transplant soon, he’s on dialysis now and this movie hits much different
As a person with a condition and has to with the medical industry, this movie will always have a special ranking. Crazy how true this stuff still is years later in reality

Malcolm X, all the Equalizers, Training Day, American Gangsta, The Hurricane, the list goes on.
yes for Malcolm X!
Your Shirt is hilarious!!! I love your down to earth attitude and nice reactions to the movie as well little lady.

It's been a LONG time since I've seen this film, but my favorite scene is his son says "THANK YOU" to him 😢😢😢.

This movie puts me in a chokehold every time. Great pick, MJ.
It's hard to pick the best Denzel movie because he kills all his roles
I know first hand a medical emergency can happen when you least expect it. I was in the best shape of my adult life when I ended up in the ER in the middle of the night
Omg what happened
This movie hits you in feelings.
Alot of people talk about the love of a mother and moms know best and i feel the role and love of a father is very over shadowed and under appreciated but this movie perfectly encapsulates the love of a father and i knew this about this movie even was i was a young boy watching this movie

"I'm not going to bury my son, my son is going to bury me" powerful line
I recommend “Mo Better Blues” which is my favorite Denzel film.
Antwone Fisher was a good movie
Indeed!!
I would have liked to hear Denise admit that she didnt give John the respect he deserves. When your husband is doing EVERYTHING possible, dont talk to him like he's a useless bum just because of the circumstances.
This movie is easily in my top ten. I grew up watching it and I rewatch it every year.
Glory Starring Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman and Matthew Broderick.Denzel won a Academy Award for Supporting Actor.

12:58 You do make a difference MJ. You definitely inspire me to get my own house, you made it out of Chicago, that means something. A lot.
It’s about time you posted the movie. I’ve only been seeing John Q on my RUclips screen for weeks now.😅
It’s been on Patreon for weeks 😁
He is definitely one of my favorite actos.
Well said, young lady and wow what raw emotion that you gave was awesome and amazing 💖💖💖

🎉🎉🎉🎉 Denzel is a phenomenal actor and has a ton of good movies out. From his earlier work I recommend
"Philadelphia" and "Fallen."
"THE PELICAN BRIEF" 1993 / " THE PREACHER'S WIFE" 1996 are definitely worth reacting to. Not to mention top level actors overload. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I went to the theater to see this when it came out. As a father of 2 it was sad and infuriating. I would do anything to save my children's lives. Crash, Misery, and Final Destination series are must see movie but I gotta subscribe to your Patreon first
I'm not gonna lie but @MJ WITHOUT SPIDER-MAN, that t-shirt of yours nearly distracted me for half the reaction. lol 😂Also, to address some of your earlier commentary in regards to helping John's son; the dilemma of just giving into John's demands under the threat of violence, would only serve to create far greater problems in the future because what would stop others in similar situations from resorting to the same actions as John's character did in this film. If every person suffering from such hardships as John chose his method of conflict resolution, it would create a great deal of disorder from a societal stand point and would most certainly result in more harm than good.
all i can say is when MJ hit
we is all gon be in for a real heart feld story
Great movie, it's definitely one that will hit you hard. He has a lot of great movies out there, Ricochet, Malcolm X, Philadelphia, The Preachers Wife, American Gangster, Man on Fire, Training Day, The Book of Eli. I was going to say Remember the Titans but I do remember your reaction to that. Love your reactions 🤍🙏🏼
I need to go ahead and join your patreon this week. I love your content.
Wassup MJ love your videos keep up the amazing work my friend 😊😊😊
My papa had showed me this movie and i loved it so I excited to see u watch it
don't matter how much you try ain't no "not crying" watching John Q babygirl 😅😅
This is the only movie that makes me cry as a man. Every time.
Loveeee this movie..I always get emotional as well. A recommendation is : Out of Time and Inside Man.
I used to watch this often when I was younger
The Pelican Brief , A Soldier's Story and 2 Guns are great Denzel movies.
I am here for more Denzel Washington movies!
Man on Fire is a must! Deja Vu is also a good one.
This was hard for me to warch before i became a mother but its VERY HARD to watch because my daughter was born with a heart problem and i felt him from the beginning. No one said he was bad because they would have done the same for their kids and thats another big fear that parents have with children having health problems that its either go to the extreme and go to jail or lose your child
okay MJ i peep the one glove 🤣
Me being hella confused when she put her hand up. 😂😂😂
Love the shirt ❤😂
I was just watching you give the review and John Q the movie PS I have a question what is up with the white glove on your hand? Are you trying to push for a Michael Jackson being white glove? Lol

You should watch Philadelphia. Denzel and Tom Hanks are amazing
