  • Baker's Gas updated video with the latest edition of the Multimatic 220. What has changed? You can now stick weld 6010!
    bakersgas.com/collections/all...
    New Feature: 6010 Stick Electrode Welding Capability
    The standout feature in the 2024 version of the Miller Multimatic 220 is its newfound ability to weld with 6010 stick electrodes. Unlike previous models, this update is not a mere software tweak but a substantial hardware enhancement. This means that if you own a Multimatic 220 from before 2024, you won't be able to take advantage of this upgrade.
    Why is this significant? The 6010 stick electrode is widely used in the education space, particularly in fields like pipe welding. The 6010 is renowned for its high-density welds, making it a preferred choice in challenging environments such as pipes, shipyards, tanks, towers, and other thick metal structures. Moreover, this electrode is typically exclusive to DC welding machines, making the Multimatic 220's compatibility a notable edge.
    QuickTech Technology:
    The Multimatic 220 has always been known for its user-friendly features, and the 2024 version is no exception. The innovative QuickTech technology simplifies setup and process switching. This feature automatically determines polarity, allowing the MIG gun and TIG torch to stay connected simultaneously. With a simple trigger pull or foot control activation, the machine seamlessly changes processes, eliminating the need for manual adjustments.
    Enhanced Display and Pro-Set Feature:
    The Color LCD with Auto-Set Elite continues to be a highlight, offering easy parameter adjustments for MIG, Stick, AC TIG, and DC TIG processes. The Pro-Set feature further streamlines the welding experience by eliminating guesswork in setting weld parameters. For instance, AC Balance and Frequency for TIG welding and Pulse for DC TIG welding are pre-set for optimal performance.
    Portability and Versatility:
    Weighing only 56 pounds, the Multimatic 220 AC/DC is highly portable, allowing welders to take it wherever the work demands. Its multi-voltage plug (MVP) ensures compatibility with both 120-volt and 240-volt power outlets, providing flexibility on various job sites. The unit's generator compatibility enhances its usability, making it a perfect match for generators like the Miller Bobcat or Trailblazer series.
    Identifying the New Version:
    To check if your unit is the upgraded 2024 version, look for a QR code on the screen, an updated door sticker that includes 6010, and the presence of 6010 in the Auto-Set options. The serial number should also be after ND338568N.
    The 2024 version of the Miller Multimatic 220 AC/DC Multiprocess Welder is a testament to Miller's commitment to meeting the evolving needs of welders. With the added capability to weld with 6010 stick electrodes, this versatile welder remains a top choice for hobbyists, small shops, and educational institutions. I purchased a 220 from you guys back in June 2023. Its brand new with the tags still on it. Never plugged in and never opened any of the boxes that came with it. I wish I could exchange it for the new one...

    Why is it on the Miller Multimatic Assembly line tour video , the miller rep specifically states that the update is software related for the 6010 capability?

    can you please make a video of it welding an open root pipe or plate (carbon steel) joint ? that would be an excellent selling point im telling you right now no one has made a video with a (all in one welde)r welding that type of join.

    Has there been any update to make AC TIG welding on the 220 more comparable to the rebel 205

    • @BakersGas
      @BakersGas  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hey, thank you for watching and commenting. We just posted a video on the TIG side because we get a lot of questions. Miller intentionally did not make the TIG side have all of the Rebel's adjustments. The Miller 220 is easier to use, and they found the extra adjustments were not needed for quality welds and prioritized simplicity and ease of use.

    Is the *only* difference in features between old and new 220 versions the capability to stick weld with 6010? Are there any other settings that can be changed in the new version versus old? Are all accessories and parts generally interchangeable between old and new other than internal circuit board (hardware)?

    • @BakersGas
      @BakersGas  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, a few other little things like a different box, QR code at set up, nothing on the TIG or MIG side or physical machine changes.

    This Miller multimatic 220 vs the Fronius trans steel 2200? What is better and why?

    • @BakersGas
      @BakersGas  4 месяца назад

      The Miller 220 will AC TIG aluminum which the Fronius will not. The TransSteel on the other hand you could MIG aluminum through the MIG gun which is neat. (Miller you would have to use a spoolgun) We sell and stock both feel free to call or email us for a quote or with any other questions.

    I’ve had the 220 for about 2 yrs as well as the the esab205ic, and the Miller 220 is mediocre at best compared to the
    HTP 2500 I now have! I’ve ran them side by side and It does more and does it better than both, and for a little less 💴! Win Win.

    *As another commenter said, you buy Miller for the blue, quality AND the customer service. If Miller were about great customer service, they'd offer their Multimatic 220 owners, lacking the 6010 capability an upgrade option (e.g., new software & pc board). My Multimatic 220 is 1.5 years ago & used it for the 1st time last week. Now I find out this happened! Bye bye, Miller...*

    Great video. If you have any pull with Miller it would be great if they offered an upgrade kit, perhaps at cost.
    Great to see this improvement, but I suspect there might be some people who would be alienated if they just spent $$$, need to run 6010, and don’t want to loose their shirt selling it to buy a whole new unit.
    But I suppose that’s the way of most things, when the new and improved one comes out…

    Way to go miller. Planned obsolescence. Next update will be another new machine will add AC pulse and MiG Pulse. Just be that they don’t send out new boards to service centers and inform customers that if they want to the update is available. That’s the service I expect from them. Not the way they are handling it.
