According to the St. Louis Park Police Department, authorities had been searching for 51-year-old Jeffrey Morgan Groves following an incident that happened earlier this month. On November 3, a woman reported to police that a man had broken into her home in the 2300 block of Parklands Road, sexually assaulted her and then forced her to withdraw cash for him at two different ATMs.
On Wednesday, authorities attempted to arrest Groves near Newport, Minnesota. Once he was confronted, he left in a black Ford F-350 pickup truck and began a pursuit that would span multiple counties. A Washington County Sheriff's deputy used a PIT maneuver on the truck, which caused the truck to hit an unoccupied disabled vehicle and then go into the ditch on Highway 35 just south of Tower Road.

My son has been in the car and told me this because it happened twice while he was with him. I guess cities or counties or States come up with some speed limit or no speed limit as a way to protect on chases on speeding tickets but they might be able to chase faster than 100 on known criminals or probation violators that are known to be in the car.

MnDot has about 1000 cameras, and at least in the twin cities area it is almost creepy when you call in to report an accident or a mechanical car issue, where you feel unsafe being that close to speeding traffic. They already have seen the incident or you stopping and have either DOT F.I.R.S.T. Truck or a state trooper a minute away to help you or warn traffic while the proper help gets there.
A time in the past, My wife had a flat on the way to work (not a good call to get when you work far away) even after showing her how easy it is, where to position herself so she can see something coming at her at all times, and how all the tools you need are in the car with a high viz vest, flares, etc. She still broke down and of course “didn’t know how to do it” told her to call a tow truck since we have AAA. Received a call 3 mins later saying Ron from the MNDOT showed up in his sign truck and changed the tire for her so she could be on her way. Our Taxes pay for it, and I’m glad its available to everyone.

It always baffles me that, in our century, there is nothing much else but to wait and see what happens in these chases. Even more pathetic is the fact that he goes against the traffic, you even see a school bus at some point. Deadly force would have to kick in WAY before things reach such a state since this person has forfeited their lives by putting the lives for law enforcement and civilians in HIGH danger.

Simply confirms that there are many drivers who will not give up the fast lane through some twisted sense of entitlement. Would not be surprised if this practice is the direct/indirect cause of many accidents- yes, it is a pet peeve.

Sharpshooter with a 50 cal could put a kill shot to the engine... game over!

I prefer they shoot at the driver instead, poor engine has done nothing wrong. All these idiots should be hunted from helicopters the same way wolves are hunted in Alaska.

I like how none of the traffic pulls over and gets out of their way

Hasn’t the state police ever heard of tracking mode by helicopter? LA & CHP do it nearly everyday with drivers who choose not to stop. When the driver does not see flashing lights in their mirror, they tend to slow down and not take as many risks. Meanwhile, high in the sky, a helicopter is tracking his every move and is constantly telling units on the ground where the driver is at. It sure beats chasing a desperate driver going the wrong way on the freeway putting countless innocent and unsuspecting drivers in harms way. Smh
