We ride the motorcycle through Ventspils away from the Latvian west coast in direction of the capital Riga. Taking some off-road routes we explore the countryside in this beautiful Baltic region. In the Latvian city of Jelgava we spend a few nights staying in a Soviet apartment block als known as 'commie blocks'. Built during the time when Latvia was still occupied by the Soviet Union, part of the USSR. Riding a Honda motorcycle through the Baltics in Eastern Europe.

What does it say on the Ukraine support 'stickle' (how do I do it) at 8:47? Asking those with much better Cyrillic skills.
it says that Putin is a dick head.
Sticker on left pretty much translates as "Russian ship go f*** your self" x=h
It was that radio message to Russian ship from Snake island defenders.
It's says "Putin is a cock face" (i tried to pick acceptable words for this translation). Words form a famous football song back in 2014.
Russian warship fu.k off!!
Hi Pedro, still loving your videos and history lessons in them.
Have fun you two and ride safe!
Cheers mate, saving up the next bit of history for Riga though it all tends to repeat itself in the Baltics
Its nice to randomly find a video about my hometown.
You've done a terrific job of seemingly integrating more content into your videos but, just keeping us interested. Thanks for not putting clique bait on as a enticer. Good on you mate.
Your Companion Smart and Beautiful, you got a keeper there Pedro
Actually Baltic countries are Northern Europe officially after UN classification.
Pedro, You guys look good travelling together. Nice to see you back Monday the “road again”
I got a RUclips algorithm brought me to your channel after watching itchy boots. Greetings from Balvi in the Latgale part of Latvia. I moved here from Ireland 7 years ago
My grandma used to live in the building that is pictured in the video main photo. She lived there since the 70’s when it was built, I lived with her for 3 years there. Crazy to see this video as an adult living in the USA
Brilliant, small world isn't it. I think more and more these old places are being refurbished and put up as tourist rentals.
My favorite drum synth ever, was made in Riga. Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02.
I like watching you. Now I'm going with my girlfriend in the old transalpine 650 to the Basque country straight from Corsica. Pedro, you inspire as always.
I am Polish and have been following you for a long time. Now that you have traveled through my country it has become nice.
I like it when people enjoy finally seeing their own country or local area in the videos. You have a good ride out there with your dziewczyna.
@@iPedroMota Especially since you were in my city of BIAŁYSTOK. You visited my favorite motorcycle riding areas, such as BIAŁOWIEŻA. We also think that the Basque Country and the Pyrenees will be great. I wish you a good journey too. Until a meeting somewhere along the way.
Hi Tujaj , awesome riding in the Pyrenees but on the way from marseille around Montpellier and Béziers there some nice roads as well, nice and windy roads !
Amazing channel!
My hometown... You drove and stayed for the night near my school 😀The area, neighbourhood is called RAF, I grew up there 😄And I left it all for Norway, Oslo - you are sooo right! Nice video, +1sub 😀
U so cool guy’s. Make me a happy 😅. I love to watching and lightning 😂. Good positive 👌 I am from Lithuania 🇱🇹 Wish you guy’s safe road 🤝🫡
What a lovely piece of world that is! 🤩
It really is
No it isn't, it's bullshit :D
Very nice! Thanks and congrats from Brazil!!
Saudações!
I'm actually living in Latvia right now, so seeing other people come here even for a visit is nice. I'm from the United states
If I was Latvian/Lithuanian who'd gone abroad I would eventually for sure come back for retirement

Its nice yeah.
The downside is 2mlj people. So for business and opportunities you have to take what is available.
The upside is, buying land is not that expensive...
I think still 60% of Latvia is forest. And the people per squre km is 30.
England is 300 for example. Netherlands 400.
@@iPedroMota 💯! Greetings from the Baltics Lithuania 🇱🇹 Thank you for your content. Now I live in Germany, but it's just for experience. I'll definitely come back! ❤️ 💯
I once pulled into a city with an IndyCar race that weekend without any planning. I don't remember what I did, but I remember the partners anxiety. On my own, I can adlib fairly easily.
I know what you mean. The 'eventually everything will fall into place' attitude is not for everyone or takes at least some getting used to.
Long time no see Pedro, hope you are well. Wishing ya good luck on the travels, you're looking healthier man keep it up
Also do you watch Ed from c90adventures? If so what do you think about him finishing his journey and settling down? Do you feel the same lately?
Cheers mate, feeling healthier. Always talk up Ed, he managed to finish up a very entertaining behemoth of a job. I don't think he's done, just done with what he was doing until then and I get that. It's been nice to change gear but not time to settle down yet. Hope you're good out there too.

Watching this video and knowing I lived there a few years ago is crazy
Went to Jelgava in June, and Loved it
I have a latvian passport but i live and study in Ireland i have only been to latvia 3 times but the times i have been there it was so cool my parents are Latvian and were living there during the soviet union thanks for the video
Sad to hear your parents are traitors of Latvia
Haha the gangsta humor is delicious. Hope you had a great time.
Greetings from my town Ventspils. 😊
hello Pedro, viewer from Jelgava
Hello, I'm from Jelgava.
You filmed our yard and the street where I live.
that was a fantastic bridge and statue
Hey! When did you guys were in Riga? It seems like a while ago already. Its been really cold last week already. It dropped from 30 c to 11 c overnight. Was cool seeing you here though. I remember whatching you're trip in Russia and when you where in Argentina I think. Anyways, Sveicieni no Rīgas!
Wow but I'm not surprised since I noticed some of those drastic Baltic temperature swings. Cheers, Riga episodes coming soon
F.me, i live in the house next to where you stayed overnight. Im glad you've liked our town. :)
I was born and grew up in Ventspils and didn't live very far from where the food is :D maybe 5 minutes with a bicycle
oops, I meant wood
LoL, that is literally next to my in-laws apartment in Jelgava, where my wife grew up, and that's her school at 9:09.
Another comment with a history/connection to this place is a testament to how thinly populated this country is. Really cool. I imagine the interior of the place where we stayed at looks nothing like the interior where she grew up in.
I enjoyed the tour
Thanks for giving us a glimpse into yesterday's world of old Soviet apartments. Life was different then. You wouldn't have had an Atlas ;-)
Cheers from Nürnberg/Germany, Günter
I would have had a P L A N E T A
@@iPedroMota Anything that propels us forward, Pedro ;-)

Nice vlog but I am very amazed that noone said a thing about parking the motorbike ... u cant park it wherever u want xD You are lucky haahha
Stayed with my great ainy in an old Russian unit
No central heating it broke down. Only had cold water and it was rusty.
I lived in Snapji for like 10 years :D funny to see
No way!
@@iPedroMota yeah, its true, i lived like 50m away from that big orange house
Baltics is crazy how few people live there. I've never had so many people comment on one video recognizing places where they or family used to live.
@@iPedroMota my grandparents are still living in Snapji, I litteraly was there yesterday 😁
Such buildings called Macoryan also exists in Afghanistan and built by former soviet union.
👍nice ..
Ehh... Latvia.
There is things i miss abou it...
Inteligent people. Lots of nature. Riga is nice... Its very chill, or uncompetitive in comparrison.
And its prety affordable to buy a house or land in the country side...
Youre probably already in Estonia, but if you ever go back to Latvia (Latgale region, Balvi) - hit me up. Let me show you a good time, and how the locals live. + Free living quarters. :)
Thanks for the offer mate
That has got to be the absolutely worst attempt to say thank you in Latvian 😅
Imagine if you have to go over that again and again while editing
Really great video as usual 👍😍 you are doing well and these videos are really helpful… you are doing great job and your effeorts are admirable. waiting for next video… russia is amazing 🤩
Hermoso lugares un corte de cabello al estilo Pedro 👍👍👍🇦🇷🇦🇷
Es el estilo Latino Americano compadre! Saludos
Haircut looks dope mate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Cyrillic alphabet isn't as hard once you get the hang of it. 😉 But, with phone you can use Google translate camera to translate 👍🏻👍🏻
розвиток 😉
Practice innit. It's cool though understanding some writing, years ago during my first Cyrillic encounter on the road it was al like Chinese.
@@iPedroMota Biggest problem, my experience, is even if I some languages, and it's easy to read Cyrillic, it's very hard to get the correct context. So it's still Chinese 😁
Wow, the bridge looks amazing! Where exactly is it?
which minute
@@ghazik3656 14:00
It is a bridge for people to walk to a small island " Sapņu sala " in city Jelgava. Been there twice. Nice place.
@@ghazik3656 Thanks! 👍
Good day Pedro
Guess who's back, good day to you too
Don Pedro, come and ride in Africa.

please dont drink water from sink, those pipes are old and drinkable mostly after boiling it. But better way just buy fresh water cheap enough !
OMG you were in jelgava would have known would have showed up for a autograf or sum 🤣
Were those flowers Poppies?
Yes
O que está escrito no autocolante não dá muito bem para ler porque está por trás do espelho, senão traduzia

Take some more risks, live a little. Unlike the rest of the world, if you break into old castles you wont get arrested for "just looking around". If anyone asks how you got in, i cant remember its so big, beautiful and confusing.
You need to visit Liepāja in Latvia!
super godt 🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍
Im a Latvian and am laughing at ur attempt at latvian
You and me
talking about those soviet houses, they are built very poorly, in many cases by unprofessional Russian soldiers, and they were intended to be served for only couple of decades. The term is due long time ago, therefore they require constant fixing. Any person from generation below 40 now from middle class does not look even in their direction, instead looking for new modern apartment house. So I don't know what will happen to them after 10, 20 years, everyone is slowly moving away from them, yet they are private property for tens of owners and taking space. It is interesting how they will manage to agree to demolish them or refurbish without 100% consent. Some of them are somehow refurbished with new insulation, pumbing, re-whiring, but I think that still will not solve the problem of constant emigration to new projects, because you cannot refurbish the low sealing, super poor sound isolation, no underground parking.
R u choosing these crappy roads on purpose?
Yeah more like 'letting it happen' and see where it goes, other times plotting off-road routes on purpose like in the next video. Often these routes are more fun and interesting.
Your audio made my chair squishy. Just saying...
rust is good, you don't corode.... 😝😝😝
Hi bud memmber mi am Gatis I woz spiking with you
Even me, as Pole, can see how Latvia vary from Poland in terms of architecture, when I was in Mariampol the road to the city and buildings over there looked poor and like in Russia suburbs. Horrible.
Mariampole is not in Latvia...
Вода ему воняет))) едь в Африку
даже стало интересно - а где в латвии НЕ советские дома )
Ah, yes, the commie blocks - Soviet "monuments" Latvians don't want you to know about. A certain monument in Riga has been demolished with such celebration, yet there are still thousands to go, waiting for renovation which might never come. At least not in this century, given how fast the commie blocks are renovated in Riga.
Yup,coming from New Jersey, living in Finland, even to me Latvia and Estonia are so different and I like driving and stopping to look at things.Lot of history good and bad but they are not in general in a hurry to knock things down.Funny to think that they do have lots of old soviet era apartment buildings that use firewood for heating. They have however come a long way since the collapse of the Soviet union and that is a great thing. Most do not miss it.
