    Zach, You could not have picked a better spot than Justin's home to explore the Baha'i Faith. Baha'i is not just a religion one joins, it is rather a way of life one adopts, committing to a lifelong process of continual improvement. While many "religious" folks seem to want to fix others and help themselves, Baha'is strive to fix themselves and only help others.

      Carolina, I see you're in Columbia. Perhaps you would like the web link for the Baha'i Faith there: www.bahai.org.co/
      Baha'is believe in, and follow the teachings of Baha'u'llah who lived from 1817-1892. He wrote over a hundred documents explaining the unity of humanity, of religion, of God. Baha'is are those who believe He is the messenger of God for this age and are willing to work to build the Kingdom of God on Earth, starting with ourselves.

    I've always identified myself as agnostic theist, mainly because there was never a specific monotheistic religion that fit my beliefs. Bahai has seriously caught my interest with it's basic tenets, and I'm not gonna lie, I may have shed a tear because this religion seems so rooted in love and unity.

      Thanks for sharing your experience with us! What I love about this Faith, is it's emphasis on individual investigation of truth. And it seems like you're doing exactly that Ms. Ebony!

      @ABadostain 4 года назад

      @@ka-rina5078 Depends on what you mean by "accept." I grew up as a Baha'i and their view on homosexuality is one of the two reasons I left the religion. There are a lot of good things about the religion and I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from investigating the religion, but it is not really true that they accept homosexuality. It is viewed as kind of a disease of the soul that can be fixed with therapy and prayer. It is considered unlawful for people of the same sex to be in a relationship. So they might "accept" them if you mean they won't discriminate or bully you for being gay. But you also can't be a Baha'i and be in a homosexual relationship. They do not support gay marriage. The other reason I am no longer a Baha'i is because one of the main teachings is equality of men and women. However, a woman cannot serve on the Universal House of Justice (you can look up what that is if you're curious). Nobody could explain to me how these two things made sense in light of what the religion preached. So to anyone who is interested in the religion, there are a lot of lovely things about it, but if you are a supporter gay rights, it does clearly say in their teaching that homosexuality is not permitted. I have no animosity towards the religion and have a lot of fond memories of it, but I think it is important to be clear on their stance.

      AmberBee123 I agree but the main thing it means is that they’re not recommending for you to follow that path because they want the best for you, but hey I’m not judging, you did some independent investigation of truth and that is the best way to find your answer and I’m really happy you did that

      @@ABadostain This is very true. I am a Catholic and I loved this video and have fond memories of praying with Bahai's in my youth-my best friend, now deceased, was a Bahai-and even own a Bahai prayerbook I used to pray from-its been a long time. Sadly, though my friend was a prayerful and believing Bahai-she struggled with mental health and off and on alchohol-because she was a lesbian she was excommunicated. She and her partner-this was before gay marriage-had to meet with the local assembly and be told that they could no longer meet at the center-and the partner had even agreed to convert from Christianity! It was so sad and marked her for the rest of her life though she continued to pray from the prayer book til the day of her death. I never forgot how they treated her and embarrassed her family a very upstanding family in the local Center. God forgive them and bring them to more light.

I’m a devout proud Catholic Christian and I found this video to be so incredibly beautiful and powerful because most (if not all) of the teachings are also found in my faith and even though we are not the same religion I think that this is just another wonderful representation of the love of God and the beauty and grace of his people ❤️❤️❤️

    I'm agnostic, but I love learning about the different religions, and Bahá'í faith is by far the most interesting to me. I love its message of unity and respect for all peoples and faiths. I love how it accepts all the Prophets as being Messengers of God, and puts them all at equal importance. I do think all the world religions have essentially the same spiritual messages, even if they may have different Gods, such as Hinduism. I definitely want to read more about Bahá'í faith after this video. I've never been able to fully believe that there is a God, but like the man at the end of the video said, it doesn't necessarily have to be a "being." In any case, reading about religions and their messages makes me feel good inside, even if I don't necessarily believe there is a God. I don't believe that there isn't a God, I just don't know.

      Hi there! I'm a Baha'i and I wanted to share my own personal feelings based on your comments. I think it's very hard to accept this concept of "God" and a "Higher Being" because it seems so above our heads. How can we possibly put a humanly characteristic on something we can't see or touch? For me, it's reading these beautiful writings and knowing there is something more behind the words. Baha'is believe these manifestations of God (Baha'u'llah, Jesus, Mohammad etc. ) are like mirrors that reflect sun's light. We can liken the sun to God. We can't see him/her, but we know there is something there because of the reflection that is projected to us from these mirrors.

      Daniel G Ah pleez , stop the hypocrisy and learn about the true history of Bahaism . Bahaism is a copy past of most Islamic laws . It was founded by a 5 foot man with 4 women (not 3) and 14 children ( who most of them were labeled covenant breaker ) . He usurped the position of his Half Brother Subh azal ( The title "Baha" is a self acclaimed title , he picked it from the writings of the Bab , unlike Subh azal and the Huruf i hayy whom were named by the Bab himself ) and claimed to be the Messiah of the Bab eveb though he was supposed to appear 1500 or 200 years after the Bab .
      "From almost all the world ethnicities" Proselytism as it's best , trying to make your Sect a "world major religion" like Islam and Christianity . Nope , more like 9 or 10 followers from all ethnicities of the world . If there are 9 followers , a LSA is created .

      jigger jones The truth is within the link someone posted. If you want to know about the Faith visit bahai.org
      It's not a repacking of Islam at all. Though the religions are related because Baha'is believe in progressive revelation.

    • @thesouthernsummer
      @thesouthernsummer 9 лет назад +34

      @jigger...
      Funny you say all these negative things about the Baha'i Faith in India, when the Baha'i Lotus Temple is located in Delhi. A temple, where people of ALL faiths come to pray and meditate together. And guess what? Most of the thousands of people that visit every day are HINDUS! If The Baha'i Faith is such a horrible, insulting religion, than why is this one of the only places that is accepting of ALL people.
      Clearly you are on a rampage to bring negativity to this page, where people are coming together to discuss faith in a positive sense. I suggest you go and meditate/pray and reflect on how your intolerant words are contrary to the very beliefs that the Holiness Krishna has shared.

    • @thesouthernsummer
      @thesouthernsummer 9 лет назад +17

      @jigger
      As I said before, you should take the time you are spending here bashing people, to pray and meditate.
      Your ignorant comments are achieving nothing except leading everyone to believe you are a very unhappy person.

    I'm an atheist....however, while I don't believe it's possible for humans to know the sorts of things religions claim to know...I do find aesthetic and emotional beauty in certain religions. Catholic and Hindu art, for instance, are gorgeous to me. Buddhism and Taoism have a very interesting concept of consciousness and the nature of reality. And more ancient animistic and pantheistic religions tap something deep inside me.
    I don't literally believe in any of them....my mind cannot claim to know something that is impossible to know. For me, "God" is akin to the source that created and sustains reality...whatever that may be. It's an utter mystery. No one knows...or CAN know...what that is. So...I chose not to define it.
    I love art, music, creativity, humanity, nature, science, equality, etc....and often religions seem to be in direct opposition to ALL of that.
    So......having said all that, the Bahá'í faith intrigues me. I like how inclusive it is....and how open they are to not claiming to own THE one and only truth....rather, they strive toward truth. I like that.
    I still cannot commit to any religion...and never will. But, I like to admire certain aspects of faith, reject the negative aspects, and use the aesthetics of religion to empower my own creative pursuits. So, if I were forced to chose a religion....I think Bahá'í would have to be my choice. Plus, it's spelled in a cool/strange way. :) Everyone likes letters with little squiggles above them. :)

      Roxana, thanks for your comment and so happy to see that we share similar beliefs about service. Can you imagine what the world would be like if everyone would help out their fellow brother/sister? Right now Baha'is all over the world are involved in children's classes and especially junior youth classes (ages 12-15.) These JY youth classes are open to everyone and have such a big impact on the community because not only do they give these pre-teens an outlet to talk about their importance and their role in society, but also pushes them to understand how service makes a difference in their community,

      lovemeformenotanyone Which is why it doesn't belong in those books. And whatever writings don't have historical accuracy and verification like the Bible does. History classes teach major things that have shaped our world since its creation. Christianity and Judaism have been major religions longer than most others have been around. Both of them have been major factors in how are world got where it is today. Bahá'í hasn't had much of any influence.

    • @Eternalentropy
      @Eternalentropy 10 лет назад +2

      Paul Burt You couldn't be more wrong.
      "The baha'i faith is the second most wide spread religion in the world and the first bible wasn't written until nearly 350 years after christ's passing(that we know of)
      The oldest known manuscripts of the entire Christian Bible are the Codex Sinaiticus, so named because it was found at a monastery on Mt. Sinai, and the Codex Vaticanus, which takes its name from the Vatican library where it now resides. Both are dated to approximately 350 A.D.
      Biblical scholars have discovered older fragments of the Bible of varying size and condition. The oldest known fragment we have from the New Testament is a tiny section of John’s gospel that contains part of only seven lines in Greek. This fragment is dated to about 125 AD."
      "And whatever writings don't have historical accuracy and verification like the Bible does."
      The oldest bibles are far different from the versions today as they have many times over been edited. Simple proof is the king James version. All before and all after. In contrast The baha'i Faith still has all the original holy books and scriptures written by the prophet and founders of the faith in the physical.
      I won't even try to deny the fact Christs message and the bible have been monumental in humanities history and the only closest parallel would be Mohamed and the Quran PBUH. But to say the Baha'i faith hasn't had much of any influence when it's the second most widespread religion on the planet is simply and ill informed statement.

    I've always written off the Bahá'í faith as more of a philosophy than a religion; much like Confucianism or Buddhism. This video didn't change that assessment, but it did allow me to witness the joy and impact such a philosophy can have on people, especially since I am someone who doesn't believe in any gods or goddesses.

    • @thesouthernsummer
      @thesouthernsummer 10 лет назад +5

      Carlton, I liked reading your comment. The Baha'i Faith can definitely be seen as a philosophy because of its strong, clear-cut beliefs (philosophies.) The reason why I see the Baha'i Faith as a religion, is that there are laws or practices that need to be followed in order to carry out this amazing vision. That's why it's called The Baha'i Faith. It's not just about reading these holy writings and pondering, it's about becoming a channel of change through your words, deeds and actions. Just my thought.
