In North America it cranks out 300hp and strengthened compared to it's GR Yaris counterpart. Ekanoo Racing announced the biggest horsepower build for this motor. Motive in Australia has been sharing their journey with their 10 second car. How much power can this engine handle?

This is my favorite car I’ve ever owned. Toyota killed it with this
I agree
Ekaanos car is running stock head gasket still. also, Lamspeed racing built their engine.
If Toyota could build this and the LFA’s engine at the motomachi plant then why couldn’t they have built the much anticipated Toyota Supra’s engine there instead of just slapping “Toyota” on a BMW? 🤔
I’m confused? What bmw is the Supra supposed to be in your eyes?
@@Rtrac44The z4? You do realize the mk5 has the b58 right?
The Supra is literally a BMW Z4 with a coupe body and some Toyota tweaks. Same engine, same transmission, same chassis.
Because they no longer produce inline 6 engines and they wanted to keep the Supra powerplant an inline 6 like it’s always been. They turned to BMW because they believe BMW produces the best inline 6s currently.
Nice summary video, but some details were missing. Might’ve been good to mention that the GRC has some forged internals that the Yaris lacks stock.
Yes - I could have included this info. The GRC theoretically can handle more power, and I think it maybe somewhat depend on the OEM head gaskets and bolts. Also, we don't know if the ECU for North America will be encrypted, but I think it's a strong possibility.
Yep. The headgasket is the weakest part. However, I would just update the intake and exhaust for an extra 10 to 15 hp. I can't help but wonder if the Moritzo ECU is compatible with the Core edition 🤔
The lads in Australia were making this kind of power on a stock bottom end. standard crank rods & pistons. This is one well built engine.
Yeah I just chatted with a guy at nemtec. Scratching 450to the crank you’re looking at a 50k build currently. Absolutely wild. I’m currently in a golf r mk8 which gets to 450 easy with a flash and bolt ons. I’m so spoiled tuning wise and had no idea. Wow.
Might reconsider even driving this thing
It's 50k extra just to get an extra 150hp or does that include the cost of the car? If it's that hard to make power out of these then forget it. Ill get a subaru or golf r
ekanoo racing engine was built by Lamspeed racing. just an FYI.
Thank you for the info
Lame car, lame company, F Toyota! Refuse to sell me a manual Supra or Corolla! Literally Refuse! Absolute Liars at Toyota Dealerships across North America! Spent months calling dealerships and emailing everyday for nothing!
Im happy with 300hp in my gr yaris. Daylie driving and friends got 1200hp cars, they struggle to keep up because they need a runway for boost to build. They dusts me like standing still on open road, but i dont usually take the yaris on the highway because highways are crap in Australia. Best car in my opinion 300hp is more then enough, its reliable easy to drive around town. And when ypu line up at the traffic lights and sure will win with most cars, beat alot of v8s mostly stock with loud exhausts. Iv been chopped by highly modified golfs and v8s also. But its fun to give them a run in a stock 3 cylinder Toyota yaris. Id love a big hp car but not as a daylie and dont have the luxury to own one just for a Sunday drive or track days.
Sure they do...
it's got an amazing power balance and a very great chassis (it's also my birthday today)
Happy birthday!!
@@revmatchtv hehe yay thank you so much
YAAAAAAAAY
Remember the drag times are in the GRY chassis which is lighter.
True.
Amazing
Not so good if valve float already just with full exhaust. Looks like Toyota only make this engine to handle exactly 300hp. Wish it was like BMW where we can push out 60-100whp with just a ecu re-flash.
There has been continuous development on the 1.6 for about two years now
@@revmatchtv 2 years.. so where’s the progress?? Not a simple flash and tune
@@Mike604 - the G16 has been around since the GR Yaris first started selling. A simple Google search and some RUclips videos will quickly yield results.
@@Mike604 - You don't think these builders have made progress?
Hey Kai, there is a missunderstanding. Full exhaust AND Piggyback ECU (Motec) so valve float at higher Boost Pressure
Say goodbye Head Gasket
The legendary Supra could handle 1300 HP stock
No....
Definitely not.
Imagine
Lol
Lol
Cars can make power thats not the problem its the reliability once you tune it 😂 ,type r do those numbers stock motor with meth bigger turbo more fuel and a tune and it will last much more
Whole new ECU and pulling out the engine? No thanks not for $10k upgrades and labor
Power doesn’t always come cheap. Especially in the era of encrypted ECUs
@@revmatchtv B58 says hi
@@Mike604vr38 says hi
@@Mike604that was back when the stock ecu wasnt unlocked. Now that it's fully unlocked with basic bolt ons they run about 330/340hp
Its just a 3 piston car it will surpass a 2.0
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
There are a lot of GR Yaris with this engine that have been on the road for a few years. If you want to find out, I'm sure it's easy to.
Mini-2jz..😂
Half
I hope they do a dct
Won’t happen.
@@revmatchtv I think I heard the same thing about the Supra never going to have a manual
then don't be surprised when msrp for a dct is over 40k 😂
@@mengx94 Come back and tell me what the msrp for a manual 2023 Cvic SI
@@arctictruck10 They were testing the manual Supra back in 2018. The transmission already existed. Toyota doesn't have a DCT in house and the GR Corolla is a much more limited car, so I don't see it happening.
needs a k20
Imagine paying $50k+ markup for a Corolla. 😂
I'm sure we will see it. Only 250 of the Morizo for 2023 :/
Have to consider these will be collector's cars and worth much more down the road.
People are doing it for a civic
@@dknight25 but for that type of mark up, you can get a Porsche or GTR - which would already be worth a lot of begin with.
@@dknight25 it’s not worth even 30K. You can get a STI and tune it to full potential for 35K. It will smoke the Corolla.
Yeah, that's the power for the competing rally car. The engine will only last about 10.000 km.
742 Hp is the highest numbers a 2023
