I was hit head on by a drunk driver when I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter. It was the day after Christmas and we were going to see my parents. We were traveling on the highway when a car crossed the center lane and slammed into us head on. My husband was driving, I was in the passenger's seat, and my puppy was in the back. My side of the car was crushed in on top of me. If it wasn't for my husband's quick reaction and turning the wheel slightly the second before they hit us, we would have been dead on impact. I remember it all. The smell of the airbags, the taste of blood in my mouth, the pain in my legs, ribs, neck, and back, and the sheer terror when I realized I couldn't feel my little girl moving anymore. The car was almost in flames, but my side was so crushed that the door wouldn't open. My husband ripped my seatbelt with his bare hands, and pulled me out of the shattered window..we think it was one of those "superhuman" moments fueled by adrenaline, because he shouldn't have been able to tear a seat belt like a piece of paper. I lied in the snow on the side of the road, waiting for the ambulance, and I remember a nurse running out of her car to help. She thought i couldn't hear anything because of the bad shape i was in, and she whispered to her husband that there is no way that baby is alive. I just remember screaming that i was pregnant, and making my husband leave me there to chase after my terrified dog who darted from the car through fields (he ended up being ok, another miracle).
Long story short, the doctors were also sure that the placenta had to have detached because of the impact and my injuries. But when they did the ultrasound, they asked me if I believed in God. I said yes, and he explained that it was a miracle, but my daughter was fine. Nothing happened to her at all.
She is now 7 years old and in second grade. She suffered no injuries at all. She is a healthy, smart 7 year old and a gifted gymnast. I still suffer from PTSD and nerve damage in my neck and back, the broken bones in my legs and ribs have long since healed. The emotional trauma is the worst to me by far. But I give ALL the glory to God. He gave us our lives, and my little girl a chance to live. I empathize with you and what you went through. You're strong mama, never forget that.💕

I live in that neighborhood and I remember this happening. I never found out what happened after the fact, all I knew is that a woman passed out and ran into the wall and was early in pregnancy. I remember seeing the wall and just how damaged it was, getting sick to my stomach. And still to this day as I drive by it every day lt always saddened me not knowing what happened if either passed away. Then this video gets recommended to me and I click on it and realize this is it. I’m so glad to hear you both made it!

March 2021 I miscarried with my first ever pregnancy, just to find out I was pregnant again 7 weeks later (I was 6 weeks along), so I didn't get much time to recover emotionally. July 23rd 2021, at 19 weeks with my second pregnancy, I was driving and a man who failed to yield a left turn hit me at an intersection (almost head on) and sent me off the road. All I could think of was how I didn't want to lose another baby. That day at the ER, they checked baby just to find out he was not only okay, but he was a he! I'm 28 weeks pregnant now with my healthy baby boy, excited to meet him and tell him what he survived.
Praying for you, your husband, and Beckham.

Having a child born early in the nicu is heartbreaking. Our son was born 10 weeks early and spent 73 days in the nicu. Leaving a child in the hospital and going home was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. He had 7 different roommates and I watched everyone of them go home before us. I fought jealousy with that and seeing new moms in public with their babies. I also thought all the babies in the nicu were going home. Until one day I saw a priest in the unit praying over a dying baby. I went numb standing there watching the parents as they cried holding their baby. The nicu is a roller coaster ride of ups and downs I never want to experience again. Finally taking him home was a scary and exciting day. Thanks for telling your story.

She had had 8 apnea attacks and totally was unable to breath for a few minutes on two occasions. She was fine until she was 2 and I was told she had leukemia. After a lot of giving this tiny girl to give so much blood it was told she had sickle cell anemia. During her pre teen she had a lot of nose bleeds but now at 30 she’s very small but perfect. I'm so sorry you and your little Scarlet went through all that... especially that long and your first!! I agree that NICU changes you... my experience wasn't months like yours, but it still changed me. My daughter was born 2/20/21. She was a late term preemie, but had typical preemie struggles and was in the NICU for 2wks. 2wks in the NICU was so so so traumatic to me... I cannot imagine MONTHS. When she was 4wks old, she got COVID-19. When she was 8wks old, she was back in NICU for a week (not covid related, and thankfully it wasn't seizures which is why she was admitted that time!). She's a little fighter ❤ She's our 5th but 2nd I gave birth to (long story for a different time). When I realized my daughter would be ok and come home soon, I literally felt the adrenaline leave my body. It was the strangest feeling. I crashed so hard that night... finally slept after being awake for 7 days at that point.

My 3rd son, who is a miracle truly, was born at 31 weeks. I was high risk from the moment I found out as medically I should never of been able to get pregnant. It was the most terrifying, emotional pregnancy, yet my amazing Dr and God got me to 31 weeks when my water broke. My Dr gives the glory to God also and being a NICU mommy truly does change you in every way. My son is now 14 1/2 and is incredibly healthy! Preemies are fighters and the nurses kept telling us that! They said since they fight from birth to survive they have a fight always. That's beyond true! God is so good!

My cousin was 28 weeks into her first baby when she was diagnosed with dangerously high blood pressure and her doctors could not find medication that would keep it down. The docs told her and her husband that she was risking having a stroke or worse, and they knew that delivering her baby would bring her blood pressure down. So, her son Clark was delivered at 28 weeks weighing barely a pound. He was so tiny but perfectly formed. He had the daily CT scans to monitor for brain bleeds and all was going well - until day 15. Clark (or Superman as the NICU staff called him). He had a bowel infarction (part of his intestines were not getting blood so those areas of intestine had died.). He was like flighted from Tupelo to the children’s hospital in Memphis to get another opinion on his bowel ( would he benefit from surgery or some new drug treatment.). Alas, our Clark passes away that day. His father wrote the most heartfelt article with the title “I saw Superman fly” referring to watching the helicopter take off for the trip to Memphis. Unfortunately, my cousin was told that she should not try for another pregnancy as they felt she would have the same problem. After some rims had passed, my cousin and her husband looked into adoption. After about a year, they were blessed with a baby girl, and she has filled their lives so much! Her daughter is 6 and she will refer to her angel brother. These little ones have so much fight in them to be so tiny!

@@mrs.elentz2336I would have to think this must have been quite some time ago. I'm pretty sure all hospitals provide care if the baby is at least 23 weeks. Some hospitals will provide care younger than that depending on the how the baby is and if they're equipped. I've never heard of a hospital refusing care for a 26 weeker unless there was other circumstances with the baby like a medical condition making them not compatible with life.

At first, the doctors told my 17 year old mother that they were just not going to feed me and "let her go".She said that I was as big as a pound of butter and my head was the size of a small orange. They were going to let me die because they thought that I would have too many health issues and learning disabilities. She gave them Hell and insisted they feed me.I was in the hospital for three months until I weighed enough to go home. She couldn't hold me for those three months.I had no health problems and no learning problems(although I did struggle with math). Thank-God that she didn't listen to them and let me go. When you are born this early, you carry the badge "survivor" with you throughout your life and it feels like you can surmount anything. I have, and I am better than fine! I am telling my story to give other parents hope when they have to go through the trauma of a preemie. This poor little guy has challenges ahead, but he has parents who love him and that is a good start in a life that started out so traumatically.

I know this doesn’t compare but I was in an accident in August 2020 where I broke my back and neck and should have been left paralyzed. I stood up from my accident and somehow drove myself to the hospital. I’m not a religious person but there is truly no other explanation other than a guardian angel. Your story is full of miracles and i’m sure you had more than one guardian angel at your side throughout the whole experience 💕 Hope everything is still well, you’re both so so strong

I had a baby that had to stay in the hospital due to jaundice. I cried all the way home. When she was seven months old she had a stroke and almost lost her. It was a terrifying time. This child was prayed for more than I have ever seen. She recovered and it’s been a long journey. She 27 years old now and still the light of my life. I took her back to the PICU when she was around two years old so they could see her again. As soon as I entered the room all the feelings came rushing back and tears welled up. It’s so emotional still. There are parts that I still can’t talk about without getting emotional. Hug your little boy for me! 💙

My cousin was hit head on by a driver high on meth and heroin when she was 25 weeks pregnant. She was dead at the scene but the baby was alive. She was life flighted to the hospital where they got her heart beating again but it was for the baby. My cousin wasn't expected to survive. But she did. The baby made it to 25 weeks 3 days. She had a couple of brain bleeds and mild cerebral palsy but she's 11 years old now and strong. Her mama remained in a vegetative state for almost 9 years exactly before she died. We cared for her at home the entire time and she was shown much love and care. I'm glad that you and your baby are okay

A saint would have asked for this. You will cope because you have no choice. God will be your strength. My daughter is now 30 years old. We made it and so will you.

Got to 21.45 without crying, but you talking about your sweet boy knowing that you was his mum by touching him made me cry. I've got two boys, my second is 4 weeks old so I should probably blame the hormones lol. I had an emergency csection with my first who's now 4, and a planned csection with my second (which went wrong) and the way those babies react to us mamas is something else. It's so precious and I just couldn't help but cry when you said those words 🥰 the trauma from everything gets better but it stays with you forever. Keep talking, keep letting those emotions out. You are all incredible. wishing you all the best from the UK xx

I was a premie baby, was born at 7months 3lbs ish in John Hopkins, they said I wouldn’t walk or talk… BUT, by the grace of god. I’m “normal” whatever that is. The only thing at 29 that I know is I have generational mental health issues 🤷🏼‍♀️ hope that leaves you & your husband with a little comfort if they say anything will be wrong with your son ❤️ I did have a little trouble in school & had a individualized learning plan thinking back BUT, that could just be the rate/pace I had learned at 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Light headed..then I passed out in the hallway. My husband found me an hour later and called 911. In the ambulance they could not find a heartbeat.
