Ah man, that was one hell of a ride! I love Mecha Sonic's new design, and the inclusion of the Phantom Ruby being what held up Angel Island was genius! I cannot wait to see them fight against these mysterious four Koopas (even though most of us know who they already are).

I love how people like this guy remember how strong knuckles really is/how strong he could actually be in terms of canon/fanon-wise. Knuckles would've kicked the shit out of mecha had it not been for the typical anime villain power up.

Such an amazing episode. Knux really shined in this episode and knowing the backstory on why they ended up in the mushroom kingdom was a nice touch to what was going on. Really hope to see characters like tails doll working for mecha. Would be funny

This also means this version of turbo mecha sonic is stronger and more powerful from the one from z
mecha sonic probably doesnt know the full extent of the phantom ruby's power like infinite does, which might be why he didnt use it in the fight against knuckles

So I went back and checked your previous episodes to see how long the hiatus was between them.
Hiatus between 1 and 2 was five months. Hiatus between 2 and 3 was four months. Hiatus between 4 and 5 was five months.
But this time, it took seven months for the next episode to be completed. So that means there must have been a lot more work put into this episode.
Either that, or you were just busier than usual, but I'm still excited.
Four to five months is definitely a timeframe I can get behind. At the same time though, quality takes as long as it takes. As long as the end result is of good quality and any involved parties are in good health and happy, I'll wait as long as I need to for a new episode.

I love how this shows how strong knuckles ACTUALLY is...he doesn’t need emeralds for strength...he’s literally titled as one of the strongest emerald guardians.

Holy shit it's finally here! More than anything, I want to see Sonic finally beat Shadow.
i'm so excited for this, especially how smb gt got terminated after ep 4, so this is a completely new episode and it's not even revamped.
it's been a while since i saw the last episode, so hopefully the word "time and care makes the best" is worthy on this episode.
edit: it was worth it, with all those references as well, especially knuckles saying "do i look like i need your power!?"
Such a fire episode, awesome rig and fights, you're better animating, the Mecha vs Knuckles was the best part of the episode for me, the effects were really good, mostly the auras, i really liked them, keep up the good work and don't give up, you're very talented.
11:54 - Golden scene lol [probably my favorite part].
Also, the Mecha Sonic design looks nice, and the darker shade of red Knuckles has when he powers up is also pretty cool. Nice use of references from the Sonic Movie, and Street Fighter [Mecha Sonic using Raging Demon]. The flashback from 18:50 kinda reminded me of the opening cutscene for Sonic Unleashed- or just gave me the sort of vibe it had [mainly with the music, so that's a good throwback to it, and a good song used to portray the setting of the scenario]. Metal Sonic using the Phantom Ruby is especially interesting, and I do wonder if he'll get the opportunity to use it again. Overall, good episode, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
There are three Street Fighter references here - the Raging Demon is an obvious one, but the Knuckles power-up is actually based off Makoto's Tanden Renki Super Move.
Mecha also uses the Tenma-Gozanku Ungyo at 12:58.

Awesome job Smashinitiy! I also love how Knuckles use his MAXIMUM Heat power-up form against Mecha Sonic with two Emeralds before going extremely berserk! Knuckles handle WAY more than Yoshi in OG Newgrounds' Super Mario Bros Z! I also wish Dark Sonic can be in this one!

Good job making a sprite animation of this quality with 5 episodes so far. I really like how we get the full crew of Sonic characters here interacting with the Mario characters.
I also really liked the part at Mario and Luigi's house. I don't think I've seen their house made into a 3D environment before.
At the beginning, surprisingly I enjoyed the match up of Yoshi and Amy working together. I typically never perceive Yoshi and Amy as a good team chemistry, but you made it very believable. Well executed.
Take as much time as you need on these episodes your doing God's work here. No rush just remember take as many breaks as you need. I'm loving this searies keep up the good work. 😁👍
