It's been a year now. I can still remember every scene in this episode in my head especially the craziest and intense fight between Mario and Shadow. I literally screamed watching the fight cuz I can feel the hype all over my body and it cannot be stopped. And is still up to this day. It was really fun to watch. Congrats on this masterpiece by achieving over 1 million views after a year of the premiere! You have come a long way to accomplished your childhood dream animation after intense years of making, and you've finally did it. The storytelling, dialogue, music, sound effects, voice clips, and fight scenes especially Mario and Shadow are just god tier in this sprite animation. Yes, this IS a true perfection! You are truly an absolute legend, SpacePea! I'm so damn proud of you.

The battle between Mario and Shadow in this series was the greatest thing I've ever seen in my whole life! The first time I've seen that scene, I literally scream in sheer excitement! There is so much adrenaline flowing through my body and I can feel it! Mindblowing and intense! It never fails to amaze me. Whether Mario and Sonic are enemies or friends, I don't mind. As long as I personally love both since my childhood days. Sadly, I don't know much about Freedom Planet and never gotten used to it. I only know Mario and Sonic. I can't wait for Episode 2 but it's going to be a long way to finish the entire episode! Keep up the great work, SpacePea! 👍
@@Z.L.R I'm still wondering how though, Scourge is meant to be the "opposite-ish" version of Sonic how did he overpower everyone? I wonder if Sonic will also use any frontiers abilities.
@@Misc-TNZY in the comics, Scourge, at the beginning (in the early issues like #11 I think) was just a Sonic from an alternative universe. An universe where all is reversed, where Sonic and his crew are the bad guys and Eggmam/Robotnik is the good guy. Anyway, one day (I forgot how it happened) Scourge manage to get his hands on the Master Emerald, and when he touched it he drained all its power, and that's why he's so powerful in his normal form (even Super Sonic couldn't stop him). In SASB they say that he got even more powerful, they already had a taste of his strength when they sealed him off to another dimension, so if they say he's stronger, I think we're in real trouble here lol. NB : the "flashy" moment where we see Scourge being purple, purple Scourge is what he looks like when he's in Super form.
I like how the opening shows tons of hype transformations that, on most SMBZ-like series, we don't get to see a glimpse. But with you SpacePea, it's different. You are different. You aren't going to give up half way like the rest. You are the chosen one. We are here with you and we'll support you all the way. Continue like this and take as much time as you want. My Thoughts: I've watched this Episode at the premiere and this animation was AWESOME AND A MASTERPIECE!! This is 100% your greatest animation you have ever created. The characters are potrayed well and the pace between Action and dialog is perfectly balanced. I'm so happy that your childhood dream came true and you were able to inspire many more sprite animators with your work. I know that this animation will give the same feeling to the newer generations like we felt when we first watched Super Mario Bros Z. I almost CRIED of how good this was, so many old characters, Fan OC's from other Creators, Animators and series, This is like the MULTIVERSE of Sprite animations, and I'm SUPER Thankful for that. I've watched so many Sprite animations when I was so young and many did too, they were our childhood and Thank you Spacepea for making us relive those memories and HYPNESS of back in the day. When I first watched the Trailer of Super Allstar bros, I was wondering how you would add SO MANY characters into the Storyline while it making sense, and when I saw the first episode, I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. I have so many positive things to say and not a single negative one, It's amazing to see all these Characters get time to shine in their own way. The Humor, the MEMES, the action in this... IS PERFECT, I can tell how much effort, time and sweat you put into this, and it was worth it. When you said the episode was 1h and 30 mins long, I was SO shocked, like "WHAAAAAAT"? I absoloutely adore and LOVE how everything is connecting, the storytelling, everything is a Chef's kiss. I could not have asked for a better series than this, and the fact you made this all by yourself is just crazy. Also, the power scaling here is actually well done, I like how you made all of the Villians THREATNING in their own way, especially Scourge, Mecha Sonic and Seelkadoom, they are absoloute MENACES. And we still haven't seen ALL of the bad guys. You combined all of the best Sprite series of our childhoods into ONE. Sonic RPG, Nazo Unleashed, SMBZ and many many more. Judging from Seelkadoom's atmosphere and presense, he is going to be the main villian of the series, and since he's my favorite Sonic OC, I CAN'T WAIT To see him in action. In conclusion, Thank you Spacepea FOR EVERYTHING! I'm glad I could be a apart of this journey and hype, and am excited to see more of your projects. You are a legend and love all of your work. You are heavily underrated and this animation needs to get all the love and support it can get. I will always support you, and I hope many do too. I literally screamed during the Mario vs Shadow fight! The amount of effort put into this is unreal, amazing work! It's like you managed to fit all of the Sonic animations and games we grew up with into one big, action-packed video... and it's only the first episode?! I'm so excited to see this finally come out, and so happy that you managed to make your dream (which I'm sure a lot of us shared at one point) come true.
It's like a combination of all our fan-made childhoods, canon childhoods and alternate series into one massive crossover, makes a grown man cry, especially one who watched flash mario and sonic animations back in the old days of newgrounds. Fantastic episode, hope to see what awaits.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve rewatched this episode 3-4 times and I’m still so in love with every scene. From Sonic breaking into the death egg, to smaller scenes like Sonic stopping lilac from attacking shadow, it’s all so amazing to me. Amazing job !
Also, I don’t know if anyone who listened to this with headphones, but the way the sound splits in the echoes during the Mario vs shadow fight and the freaking changes he just majestically created with all of this is glorious \(*-*)/ Give this man the respect, I felt like I was watching a movie

Was feeling all type of emotions when watching this because it shows how far sprite animations have come since we were kids/younger. Really can tell how each detail from the characters and stories were handled with care and love and really glad you grew up with the same hypeness and amazement like the rest of us when we saw SMBZ for the first time and waited for the next episode. Spacepea, you might have if not definitely just inspired a new generation of sprite animations and animators after this episode because this will go down in sprite animation history. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if this gets the same kind of praise on the level of regular animations. Congrats dude and take all the time you need with every sprite type of content, we will all be waiting and hyped when you release a new one. Just to add, from music selections to the Blaze vs Scourge part to the unbelievable Mario vs Shadow fight (two of my favorites just throwing hands) and seeing all the past fan sonic fanmade games getting the recognition it deserves? Yeah this is not going to stop being talked about.

The animation is absolutely stellar. That Mario and Shadow fight was done so well! However, I do feel like a lot of story elements are being thrown in to quickly, like the Dr. Finitevus bit, or Silver, Eggman Nega, and Seelkadoom Council(?) being introduced somewhat randomly. I'm very excited to see where this series will go, and what you do with the story coming forward!

I wanna post some thoughts and criticisms -The animation is clean, it's clear to me that you spent a lot of time making sure that everything looks nice with the effects and such. I do think that the flashing lights are a little too much though, it sorta detracts from things - Having the text color be white on the dialogue box makes reading Tails and E Gadds text really difficult. Having it be black for Bowser makes things worse - I can appreciate a sprite animation series where Shadow isn't a one note jackass to everyone - The dialogue could use some changing to make things sound a little more natural I'll be keeping an eye on this series so I hope you keep making it!
Yea, i definetely need to rush less when it comes to dialogue and such. The textbox issue is sth i noticed before the release of this but by then it was already too late! Definetely gonna fix that! Glad you liked Shadows character in this and the overall animation! Thx for the feedback!

This is without a doubt the most ambitious labor of love any newgrounds, Nintendo or sega fan could ask for all the characters from previous series and how you were able to combine them is masterful. I wish you the best of luck with this project with my ear to the ground!

Hello SpacePea! I was rewatching this episode and I noticed that I haven't leave a proper comment on it. What can I say? If I was rich I would probably drop you a large pack of moneys. This is that kind of show that worths the ticket cost! What you created here it's really impressive and quite ispirational! I'm 34, but you makes me feel like a 15 y.o old kid again. Super All-Star Bros it's epic, I'm loving the animation, the plot and the musics, but it also makes me feel very nostalgic! Everything makes me remember the times where I was spending hours, day and night, on a Sonic's site with a lot of friends, writing our owns characters and than creating a lot of fanctions about them. At the time (and because I live in Italy) was even impossibile to believe that someone would be able to create an animation like yours and the only thing we had was daydreaming and writing, a lot of writing. So for me watching Super All-Star Bros is really an incredibile experience. I'm really glad you menage to start this serie and I really hope you will be able to continue and end it! I'm still writing (original stories now) and for some novels I "re-adapted" mi old Sonic's OC, so I can really undestand your motivation! Keep going with your works and good luck! I'm so hyped for the next battle of sprites and the future episode of this serie!
I couldn't have said it better myself. I've never seen SMBZ, but this animation made me feel like I watched the first 3 episodes of an anime. It has that kind of vibe, ya know?
I forget the Scourge is literraly half-super by default. For anyone that does not know, Scourge is LITERALLY named Sonic, but changed his name in his Mobius. He was Blue, but halfway powering up, he was interupted. So it makes sense that he could take them all on. Edit: I never thought I'd see Nazo, Geno, and several other cameos I haven't seen in YEARS. I also love the Atkatsuki-style introduction towards the end. Also, as for the message at the end, when you mentioned SMBZ, I FELT THAT. I've had the super Saiyan mario as my youtube profile pic, which was a fan pic from that, for over a decade. You did AMAZING.
@@Valerion203 Scourge has fought off Sonic and Shadow at the same time in a 1v2 and was winning. Sonic only won against base Scourge because he went back to base after he was Super. Why did he lose? Because Moebius's Super Forms are a little bit stronger, but they drian all your energy when back to base.

This animation is incredible! The action was amazing, the story is great and full of twists an mysteries, the character portrayal and interactions are on point and the soundtrack is fire!! Also I love how badass Blaze is in the story, as it should be.

Seeing Aeon (aka my childhood since I’ve played Final Fantasy Sonic X6 since I was a kid) and Nazo (also my childhood since Nazo Unleashed was my introduction to Sonic in general) together in the same series is MIND boggling! Also this is the equivalent of grabbing your action figures and smacking them together to make new stories, glorious!

To think that Super Mario Bros Z Legacy would endure nearly twenty plus years after the original Episode 1 and 2 on Newgrounds. Its awesome in a lot of ways that flash series continues to inspire so many people so many years later.

This one is a hell of an animation you did. Absolutely best animation I've seen! Really excited to see what happens next. And really interesting how Shadow will interact with Milla next time. I am sure there is nothing personal between Him and her, he just wanted that emerald really bad, so he focused on a mission, although it's opposite in the Mario fight. I dream to see him doing something nice to Milla, like saving her from some trouble, which will actually show, that he is a good dude with a hard personality Waiting for next series!!!
I love all the interactions between characters in this, there's actually a really good story here. My favorite interaction probably had to be between Shadow and Lilac after Shadow one-hit Millia. Keep up the good work, man. I really hope to see more of this in the future.
This is like an amalgamation of almost every Newgrounds fanmade Sonic and Mario series from the 2000s, no matter if the story is good or bad or edgy or not, it's fabulous and visually stunning.
This. Was. BRILLIANT! I can call this the proud successor of legendary titles like Sonic RPG/Nazo Unleashed/SMBZ/FFXSonic and more! I never thought I could feel the same joy, feel the same excitement and fear upon Seelkadoom's reveal yet again, after all these years, just like in Sonic RPG. The whole momentum built was absolutely INTENSE! I could literally feel the tension building up and even the cuts in dialogue felt do immensely anxiety striking! Even the ADs had a dedicated screen for themselves! This was absolutely fantastic, one of the best Sprite movies I had seen in ages. A sheer work of art at its finest.

This was GODAYUM Outstanding and S-Tier at every moment! The 1 hour mark just shows the amount of love and dedication ya put into this, and I’m proud ya made it work. Bro... This animation was so freaking cool! Not only that, but this has such great storytelling and ESPECIALLY the fight scenes! The way the sprites transitioned into actual 2D Drawings was so damn clean! This was an absolute masterpiece and I enjoyed every second of it!
This is the best episode and start to a sprite series I’ve ever seen. I can tell that this has been a thoroughly planned out narrative, rivaling some of the best fictional works I’ve enjoyed, and is a contender for best choreography and depiction of the characters. Also, the way they’re shown to be be powerful through the visual and sound effects is done impactfully and gets my blood pumping. However, my biggest fear is that a project of this magnitude with the quality it boasts deserves to be finished but may not be. And I don’t mean that in the way I’d say SMBZ should have been finished (this is even more special), but more so that it MUST. Unfortunately, this is a free-time sort of project that requires a dedicated team that can see the series through to the end and retain the existing quality all around. It’s a massive endeavor that, even with Patreon at its current status, doesn’t supply enough of a motivational catalyst to finish something like this in spare time solely out of passion as real-life duties hit you. I hate to sound this way but it’s merely pattern recognition. Tldr, you need a solid year's salary worth of support so you can be financially free to finish and so the release dates are not spread in such a way that we find “canceled” next to a title eventually. I’ll do my best to support when able.

I appreciate how Mario is treated as this underdog when sonic and co enter his dimension and only when he fights shadow they realizes he's force to be reckoned with. Very good story telling!

It's been a year now. I can still remember every scene in this episode in my head especially the craziest and intense fight between Mario and Shadow. I literally screamed watching the fight cuz I can feel the hype all over my body and it cannot be stopped. And is still up to this day. It was really fun to watch.

You have come a long way to accomplished your childhood dream animation after intense years of making, and you've finally did it. The battle between Mario and Shadow in this series was the greatest thing I've ever seen in my whole life! The first time I've seen that scene, I literally scream in sheer excitement! There is so much adrenaline flowing through my body and I can feel it! Mindblowing and intense! It never fails to amaze me.
Whether Mario and Sonic are enemies or friends, I don't mind. As long as I personally love both since my childhood days. Sadly, I don't know much about Freedom Planet and never gotten used to it. I only know Mario and Sonic. I can't wait for Episode 2 but it's going to be a long way to finish the entire episode! Keep up the great work, SpacePea! 👍

@@Misc-TNZY in the comics, Scourge, at the beginning (in the early issues like #11 I think) was just a Sonic from an alternative universe. An universe where all is reversed, where Sonic and his crew are the bad guys and Eggmam/Robotnik is the good guy.
Anyway, one day (I forgot how it happened) Scourge manage to get his hands on the Master Emerald, and when he touched it he drained all its power, and that's why he's so powerful in his normal form (even Super Sonic couldn't stop him). In SASB they say that he got even more powerful, they already had a taste of his strength when they sealed him off to another dimension, so if they say he's stronger, I think we're in real trouble here lol.
NB : the "flashy" moment where we see Scourge being purple, purple Scourge is what he looks like when he's in Super form.
I like how the opening shows tons of hype transformations that, on most SMBZ-like series, we don't get to see a glimpse. But with you SpacePea, it's different. You are different. I've watched this Episode at the premiere and this animation was AWESOME AND A MASTERPIECE!!
This is 100% your greatest animation you have ever created. The characters are potrayed well and the pace between Action and dialog is perfectly balanced.
I'm so happy that your childhood dream came true and you were able to inspire many more sprite animators with your work.
I know that this animation will give the same feeling to the newer generations like we felt when we first watched Super Mario Bros Z.
I almost CRIED of how good this was, so many old characters, Fan OC's from other Creators, Animators and series, This is like the MULTIVERSE of Sprite animations, and I'm SUPER Thankful for that. I've watched so many Sprite animations when I was so young and many did too, they were our childhood and Thank you Spacepea for making us relive those memories and HYPNESS of back in the day. When I first watched the Trailer of Super Allstar bros, I was wondering how you would add SO MANY characters into the Storyline while it making sense, and when I saw the first episode, I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. I have so many positive things to say and not a single negative one, It's amazing to see all these Characters get time to shine in their own way.
The Humor, the MEMES, the action in this... IS PERFECT, I can tell how much effort, time and sweat you put into this, and it was worth it.
When you said the episode was 1h and 30 mins long, I was SO shocked, like "WHAAAAAAT"? I absoloutely adore and LOVE how everything is connecting, the storytelling, everything is a Chef's kiss. I could not have asked for a better series than this, and the fact you made this all by yourself is just crazy. Also, the power scaling here is actually well done, I like how you made all of the Villians THREATNING in their own way, especially Scourge, Mecha Sonic and Seelkadoom, they are absoloute MENACES. And we still haven't seen ALL of the bad guys.
You combined all of the best Sprite series of our childhoods into ONE. Sonic RPG, Nazo Unleashed, SMBZ and many many more. Judging from Seelkadoom's atmosphere and presense, he is going to be the main villian of the series, and since he's my favorite Sonic OC, I CAN'T WAIT To see him in action.
In conclusion, Thank you Spacepea FOR EVERYTHING! I'm glad I could be a apart of this journey and hype, and am excited to see more of your projects. You are a legend and love all of your work.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve rewatched this episode 3-4 times and I’m still so in love with every scene. From Sonic breaking into the death egg, to smaller scenes like Sonic stopping lilac from attacking shadow, it’s all so amazing to me. Amazing job !
Youll notice more attention to detail stuff and hints that ive added with the dialogue across this episode for each time you watch it ;)
Also, I don’t know if anyone who listened to this with headphones, but the way the sound splits in the echoes during the Mario vs shadow fight and the freaking changes he just majestically created with all of this is glorious

Was feeling all type of emotions when watching this because it shows how far sprite animations have come since we were kids/younger. Really can tell how each detail from the characters and stories were handled with care and love and really glad you grew up with the same hypeness and amazement like the rest of us when we saw SMBZ for the first time and waited for the next episode. Spacepea, you might have if not definitely just inspired a new generation of sprite animations and animators after this episode because this will go down in sprite animation history. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if this gets the same kind of praise on the level of regular animations. Congrats dude and take all the time you need with every sprite type of content, we will all be waiting and hyped when you release a new one.
Just to add, from music selections to the Blaze vs Scourge part to the unbelievable Mario vs Shadow fight (two of my favorites just throwing hands) and seeing all the past fan sonic fanmade games getting the recognition it deserves? Yeah this is not going to stop being talked about.

The animation is absolutely stellar. That Mario and Shadow fight was done so well! However, I do feel like a lot of story elements are being thrown in to quickly, like the Dr. Finitevus bit, or Silver, Eggman Nega, and Seelkadoom Council(?) being introduced somewhat randomly. I'm very excited to see where this series will go, and what you do with the story coming forward!

I wanna post some thoughts and criticisms
-The animation is clean, it's clear to me that you spent a lot of time making sure that everything looks nice with the effects and such. I do think that the flashing lights are a little too much though, it sorta detracts from things
- Having the text color be white on the dialogue box makes reading Tails and E Gadds text really difficult. Having it be black for Bowser makes things worse
- I can appreciate a sprite animation series where Shadow isn't a one note jackass to everyone
- The dialogue could use some changing to make things sound a little more natural
I'll be keeping an eye on this series so I hope you keep making it!

I was rewatching this episode and I noticed that I haven't leave a proper comment on it.
What can I say? If I was rich I would probably drop you a large pack of moneys. This is that kind of show that worths the ticket cost!
What you created here it's really impressive and quite ispirational!
I'm 34, but you makes me feel like a 15 y.o old kid again. Super All-Star Bros it's epic, I'm loving the animation, the plot and the musics, but it also makes me feel very nostalgic! Everything makes me remember the times where I was spending hours, day and night, on a Sonic's site with a lot of friends, writing our owns characters and than creating a lot of fanctions about them.
At the time (and because I live in Italy) was even impossibile to believe that someone would be able to create an animation like yours and the only thing we had was daydreaming and writing, a lot of writing. So for me watching Super All-Star Bros is really an incredibile experience. I'm really glad you menage to start this serie and I really hope you will be able to continue and end it!
I'm still writing (original stories now) and for some novels I "re-adapted" mi old Sonic's OC, so I can really undestand your motivation!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I've never seen SMBZ, but this animation made me feel like I watched the first 3 episodes of an anime. It has that kind of vibe, ya know?
I forget the Scourge is literraly half-super by default. For anyone that does not know, Scourge is LITERALLY named Sonic, but changed his name in his Mobius. He was Blue, but halfway powering up, he was interupted. So it makes sense that he could take them all on.
Edit: I never thought I'd see Nazo, Geno, and several other cameos I haven't seen in YEARS. I also love the Atkatsuki-style introduction towards the end.
Also, as for the message at the end, when you mentioned SMBZ, I FELT THAT. I've had the super Saiyan mario as my youtube profile pic, which was a fan pic from that, for over a decade. You did AMAZING.

@@Valerion203 Scourge has fought off Sonic and Shadow at the same time in a 1v2 and was winning.
Sonic only won against base Scourge because he went back to base after he was Super. Why did he lose? Because Moebius's Super Forms are a little bit stronger, but they drian all your energy when back to base.

This animation is incredible! The action was amazing, the story is great and full of twists an mysteries, the character portrayal and interactions are on point and the soundtrack is fire!! Also I love how badass Blaze is in the story, as it should be.
This is bringing back much needed Mario bros Z flashbacks, seriously keep up the amazing work! I really hope this isn’t gonna be a one off thing like other series I’ve seen like this are, I hope you keep making other episodes just as awesome as this!

Seeing Aeon (aka my childhood since I’ve played Final Fantasy Sonic X6 since I was a kid) and Nazo (also my childhood since Nazo Unleashed was my introduction to Sonic in general) together in the same series is MIND boggling!
Also this is the equivalent of grabbing your action figures and smacking them together to make new stories, glorious!

To think that Super Mario Bros Z Legacy would endure nearly twenty plus years after the original Episode 1 and 2 on Newgrounds. Its awesome in a lot of ways that flash series continues to inspire so many people so many years later.

Really excited to see what happens next. And really interesting how Shadow will interact with Milla next time. I am sure there is nothing personal between Him and her, he just wanted that emerald really bad, so he focused on a mission, although it's opposite in the Mario fight. I dream to see him doing something nice to Milla, like saving her from some trouble, which will actually show, that he is a good dude with a hard personality

I love all the interactions between characters in this, there's actually a really good story here. My favorite interaction probably had to be between Shadow and Lilac after Shadow one-hit Millia. Keep up the good work, man. I really hope to see more of this in the future.

This is like an amalgamation of almost every Newgrounds fanmade Sonic and Mario series from the 2000s, no matter if the story is good or bad or edgy or not, it's fabulous and visually stunning.

I never thought I could feel the same joy, feel the same excitement and fear upon Seelkadoom's reveal yet again, after all these years, just like in Sonic RPG. The whole momentum built was absolutely INTENSE! I could literally feel the tension building up and even the cuts in dialogue felt do immensely anxiety striking! Even the ADs had a dedicated screen for themselves! This was absolutely fantastic, one of the best Sprite movies I had seen in ages. A sheer work of art at its finest.

This was GODAYUM Outstanding and S-Tier at every moment! The 1 hour mark just shows the amount of love and dedication ya put into this, and I’m proud ya made it work. This series feels like a mix of MCU Infinity War, Endgame and DB Heroes with the amount of characters altogether. I can’t wait for how this will play out in the future. Cheers my guy! : D
Bro... This animation was so freaking cool! Not only that, but this has such great storytelling and ESPECIALLY the fight scenes! The way the sprites transitioned into actual 2D Drawings was so damn clean! This was an absolute masterpiece and I enjoyed every second of it!

This is the best episode and start to a sprite series I’ve ever seen. I can tell that this has been a thoroughly planned out narrative, rivaling some of the best fictional works I’ve enjoyed, and is a contender for best choreography and depiction of the characters. Also, the way they’re shown to be be powerful through the visual and sound effects is done impactfully and gets my blood pumping.
However, my biggest fear is that a project of this magnitude with the quality it boasts deserves to be finished but may not be. And I don’t mean that in the way I’d say SMBZ should have been finished (this is even more special), but more so that it MUST. Unfortunately, this is a free-time sort of project that requires a dedicated team that can see the series through to the end and retain the existing quality all around. It’s a massive endeavor that, even with Patreon at its current status, doesn’t supply enough of a motivational catalyst to finish something like this in spare time solely out of passion as real-life duties hit you. I hate to sound this way but it’s merely pattern recognition.
Tldr, you need a solid year's salary worth of support so you can be financially free to finish and so the release dates are not spread in such a way that we find “canceled” next to a title eventually.
