The amount of talent San Diego wasted is simply staggering.
This was when aj Smith became a lousy drafter for the chargers with picks like Larry English and they had bad luck with marcus McNeil the former Auburn star who had as a good a season as anyone for a rookie left tackle imo
Because Dean Spanos is an idiot of an owner and leaving San Diego was a very big mistake.
💯💯💯💯
Same old chargers bud
@LiamDeege You sound stupid we all know Spanos is a d bag! That's not why the teams lost! 9 times outta 10 Kateing choked in crucial playoffs moments! I've been a Chargers fan 42 years! These teams always had 1 or 3m2 stupid plays where we shot ourselves in the foot!-Had nothing to do with Spanos!
Rest in Peace Vincent Jackson man
😢
Amen
Rivers led the league in passer rating (105.1) and TD (34) passes in 08 and didn’t get voted to the pro bowl. Meanwhile Favre led the league in INTs (22) and got voted in
Wait what the hell
@@Kings0424 this was the year Favre was with the Jets in the AFC. NY has a larger fanbase than the chargers so even though Rivers bested Favre in literally every significant statistic and took a way worse team to the playoffs, Favre still got in over Rivers since its based on fan voting. The other two AFC QBs were Peyton Manning and Jay Cutler
@johntheapostle4181 That's crazy and you're telling me that they also put Jay Cutler over Phillip Rivers in the Pro Bowl, bruh what the hell is this. This sounds like thiswas rigged as hell
It’s been a popularity contest for years.
It’s because voting for pro bowl starts around week 11 and the chargers were like 4-8 and the jets and broncos were 8 win teams so it appeared as though Cutler and Favre were more clutch and playing winning football
It’s a joke that the chargers aren’t in San Diego anymore.
but the chargers will forever be the chargers, wasting talents.
@@yengvang8737the only team in their division who did not win a SB!😢
it will always be the fault of the City of San Diego why they are gone. No city should ever lose a NFL Team, best money maker for all San Diego residents. That beautiful stadium you see when you fly into LA would be right next to Petco, and would host Super Bowls, College Play offs, World Cup soccer, comic Con expansion and be paid for through hotel taxes, from Raider, Broncos, Chief Fans, Comic con Fans, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama etc. etc. Fans. World Cup Fans. No, we get Dragan fruit stadium, America is laughing at San Diego best weather locate in America and best baseball field and could have had best downtown sports area in America.
Irony: Mike Shanahan’s final game as Broncos coach was the site of his greatest triumph (Super Bowl 32)
Incredible to see
Grand opening
Grand closing
That's actually a funny coincidence if you ask me.
@@LiamDeege Here's another funny coincidence. Destroying the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl runs in the Shanahan family. Mike Shanahan beat them in Super Bowl 33, and his son Kyle Shanahan beat the Falcons in Super Bowl 51.
@@deaniart That's true, Kyle Shanahan made the Falcons beat themselves in the end.
LT + Sproles was just unfair. Vincent Jackson is so underrated. I'm still shocked this team never won a title together.
Because Chargers
Because the Chargers are the Dallas Cowboys of the AFC
This was the year after turner be came free agent and left which got sproles more opportunities
@@LiamDeege Cowboys won Super Bowls
Chargers have been to one… where they got ran over by the 49er juggernaut
They did not have a good enough head coach.
Ain't that something, when the Chargers had a whole city of fans. Great times ....
It’s nice to hear coach madden’s voice calling a game. Love this channel
This was his last regular season game! He retired following calling the SB that year between Pittsburgh/arizona
Back when week 17 was the last week of the regular season. I think 18 weeks is the most the nfl can get away with for at least the next 10-20 years.
It still feels weird having 17 games in an 18-week season.
@@finchborat well each team gets a bye week so that’s probably why
@@savagegamer81013 That was the case back when we had 16 games in a 17-week season.
Why do I sense that the league will eventually go to 18 regular season games?
@@edwardoutlawjr8154 I’m sure they’ll attempt it later on in life
Ahhhhh, the revenge game, the broncos chargers matchup earlier ed hochhuli called a jay cutler fumble an incomplete pass when it was clearly a fumble. I loved this game man, blew out the donkeys and won the title. Redemption
I still say Rivers had one of the best Releases I’ve ever seen. Very similar to Marino. It looked like he was throwing it like a shot put at times, that’s because he didn’t need a big Windup to get rid of the ball.
Jay Cutler with that John Lennon early sixties Beatles look and Philip Rivers looks like Crazy Steve from Drake and Josh.
That last comment from Al Michaels didn't age well. But in all honesty I think if Denvers front office had a chance to do it over again they probably would have kept Shanahan and by default Jay Cutler.
Chargers got their revenge after Ed Hoculis blown call in their first matchup
RIP John Madden And Vincent Jackson
The Broncos lost out on the AFC West and fired Mike Shanahan, and then hired Josh McDaniels and that regime didn’t go too well from the start
Yup
And the Raiders never learn either by hiring coaches who are good as coordinators but not as head coaches.
And The Chargers because of this were stuck with 4 more years of Norv Turner.
Basically both teams ended up with coaching issues.
Well they did start 6-0 under McDaniels. But yeah didn't go well after that.
Mr Bowlen made a mistake letting Joe Ellis fire Shanahan. That never should have happened. Every bad decision and missed opportunity up until last year was all Ellis. Dude’s a pos
John Madden‘s last regular season game in the booth ever.
NBC didn't have to show that many shots of Jay Cutler looking sad on the sideline lol.
Correction, they shouldve put more
The Mike Shanahan era in Denver ended with this game. They would then proceed to replace him with the infamous Josh McDaniels
Lol😂
Then trade away the greatest QB they ever drafted
At the site of all places his greatest triumph

I miss San Diego having an NFL team
2008 was really the year of the collapse cowboys broncos jets and Bucs all started strong just to miss the playoffs

The Chargers avenged their week 2 loss on the road where they were screwed out of a late fourth quarter fumble, the Broncos completed the third of their four season collapses in the 2000s decade, and Mike Shanahan was fired after 13 years coaching the Broncos.
Yeah, the Broncos collapse is an all time great
It ended up being the worst thing to happen to the Chargers longterm: 4 more years of Norv Turner. Winnng a weak division and playoff game was not worth being stuck with that guy.
Oh and they didn’t get screwed in week 2. they deserved to lose that game. Norv’s Chargers were nothing but whiny underachievers who only tried hard in December.
@@chrisuncleahmadLadanian Tomlinson was not overrated
@@chrisuncleahmad don't disrespect the man Tomlinson all time great. He always performed. Top 5 rb of all time

One of the biggest chokejobs in sports history. 8-5 with 3 to go up 3 games over the 5-8 chargers, almost mathematically impossible to lose. The broncos didn't only lose, they gave 30 points at least in every game, to the Panthers who were division winners and 30 to Buffalo who started 5-1, were 6-8 going into that game and were still reeling. Then they come into this win-or-go-home scenario in San Diego against a hungry team who had nothing to lose. They not only lost, they didn't even show up! 52 POINTS with a chance to go to the playoffs and HOST a game?! That's an all-time collapse!
I loved every minute (chargers fan)
@@kevinuchiha6830 lol not only that but they fired Mike Shanahan and got rid of Cutler who was coming off a pro bowl season!! McDaniels took over and you know the rest 😅

Lose at eventual Super Bowl Champ Steelers
Lose the final game at Texas Stadium to the rookie Flacco led Ravens
44-6
The only win came against the Giants. I think it was after Plaxico Burress shot himself
Jets: Brett Favre, high point was knocking the Titans from the unbeaten ranks. Lose final game of the season to the Wildcat Dolphins QBed by Chad Pennington
Broncos: All they had to do was win ONE game. ONE game. And they would've been spared the horrors of Josh McDaniels
You forgot the Buccaneers
First NFL game I ever went to in person
Can you also post the Where my Raiders blew out the Broncos @ Denver with JaMarcus Russell going 10/11 Passing completions and Johnnie Lee Higgins returning a Punt Return for an awesome TD 👌 also happened in 2008.
Was that the same game Darren McFadden put up numbers you'd only see in a video game?
Also, SAN DIEGO deserves their team back! It's honestly sad seeing one of the great franchises of the league have SoFi stadium looking and sounding like an away game every time
Because it is an away team😂
And this loss led up to the first Josh McDaniels reign of error
Yea and guess who’d be stupid enough to hire him again…oh wait 🤦♂️
When you have a three game lead with three to play, you better close the door.
John Maddens last regular season game
Madden last Superbowl
I remember as bad as the Chargers we’re this year and I was not a fan of Norv, I throughly enjoyed this game with my friends
Lets go Broncos
The 4-8 chargers, somehow, someway, made the playoffs, with a positive point differential
And it ended up being the worst thing to happen: stuck with 4 more years of Norv
Just look at this game and tell me the chargers should be in LA… they had a home atmosphere with plenty of fans. Look at the crowd going crazy for the touchdown. This game today in LA is 85 percent Orange in the crowd cuz they shouldn’t be in LA.
Charger fans only showed up when the team won.
I’m still mad I moved here to San Diego right after the Chargers left. I live literally 10 minutes from where the stadium used to be lol
The 08 broncos had a chance that season to make the playoffs with the talent they had on the team.
Philip Rivers was the only reason Norv Turner ever won anything period as Chargers coach.
It's the offense too. Not only Rivers
So what about LT
@@Kings0424 LaDainian Tomlinson was the heart and soul of those 2000's Chargers teams in my opinion. He didn't win MVP in 2006 for nothing.

I'm seeing a lot more of #24 getting burnt than I ever remembered happening at the time. Rough one for Champ. Last game for Shanahan. So sad for a Broncos fan.
That Denver offense was loaded all they needed was defense instead Pat Bowlen hired Josh McDaniels and gave him GM power and he destroyed this offense traded Cutler to Chicago for Kyle Orton cause he started the rumors of getting Matt Cassel. Then traded Marshall for draft picks in Miami. Traded Tony Scheffler to Detroit for picks, then traded Peyton Hillis to Cleveland for Brady Quinn and draft picks. Even Mike Shanahan said it on his exit press conference "whoever comes in and replace me would be brain dead to disbanded this offense"
I Love This Video 📸 NFL Throwback Keep Up The Good Work And Happy New Year.
The year the Broncos looked like they would win their division, only to blow it all up before their very eyes. Literally the 2022 Titans in a nutshell.
I mean the Titans were 7-3 and lost out, that's pretty bad too lol but you almost can't get worse than this
@@taylormessier9747 It just feels so similar in my opinion, both teams looked like they would win their division once more, only to have bad late season collapses which resulted in a worse team winning it in the end.

Vamos SAN DIEGO Chargers!!!!
As a Broncos fan. This is the only game.all week leading up. No Chance in hell are we winning. No chance. Walking the gallows the moment we lost to Buffalo @ home.
Good game
No love lost between Rivers, and Cutler at the post-game handshake. Anyway, sucks to see Mike Shanahan's Broncos tenure end like that, but I think Pat Bowlen felt like he was backed into a corner following 3 years of no playoffs, and the way the team in 2008 completely croaked the division away to the Chargers after having a 3 game lead while needing only 1 win to clinch a playoff spot in that stretch. The Chargers on the other hand basically started the playoffs at 4-8, and went on a remarkable 5 game winning crusade which ended against the eventual SB champs Steelers.
That Charger crusade ended up being the worst thing to happen to them. It stuck them with 4 more years of Norv
@@chrisuncleahmad I hadn't thought about that from that angle before.
Jay Cutler= Jeff George 2.0
That's a fair comparison
When Al Michaels cared
Awesome video
This collapse is why the Broncos are in the quagmire that they are in today. It led to McChild, and then Elway (who has been destroying this franchise since Manning left and Bowlen stopped having anything to do with team since his health was declining).
Funny how this one game changed the course of history.
12:12 I miss that old dolphins logo
This ended up being the worst thing to happen to the Chargers longterm: going from 4-8 to win a weak division meant they were stuck with 4 more years of Norv Turner.
The chargers are the most odd organization. They’re the only team to go 04 and make the playoffs and win the division at that. and the only team to go for eight and still make the playoffs and they constantly let their fans down every single season
Smokin Jay Cutler 🚬
And few years later they got not only 52 but 70 points😃
It'll be a damn shame if Rivers isn't sitting up there in Canton with Gates and Tomlinson one day.
I know in today's sports word post-season success, or lack thereof, far outweigh personal stats and the impact on a franchise, but man, Phil could sling it with the best of them
Proverbs 27:6
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
At the beginning of December, the Broncos were 8-5, Chargers were 5-8, 3 weeks left in the regular season. All Denver had to do was win 1 game, and they'd win the division; if San Diego lost, their division title streak ends.
Broncos dropped the next 2 against the Panthers & Bills; Chargers beat the Chiefs & Bucs, making their week 17 matchup for all the marbles. What followed is the video above: the ultimate demise of Mike Shanahan, leading to the downward spiral of Josh McDaniels the following season, the Jay Cutler trade, and a Series of Unfortunate Events that gifted us both Von Miller and Peyton Manning. Had the Broncos won just one game in December of '08, would Shanahan have survived the next season?
The world may never know.
It's still hard to believe and the chargers comeback vs the chiefs itself was a miracle more than winning this game lmao another game on this channel this is a real throwback!
That whole season in my opinion is like the 2022 Titans and Jaguars, because the Titans looked like they would ride away with the South Title once more, but the late season collapse came and ultimately Jacksonville won out after starting very slow.
Where's the HD broadcast?
Wow it so off that afc picture only have 4 playoffs round and 2 seeded titans and I hate steelers crazy now it 6 playoffs

Chargers have not won a division title since
The worst defense I have ever seen.
This year's broncos defense against the dolphins has left the chat.
Back when the chargers were actually a good team 😢
Yep and back when they actually had a home.
Chargers are cursed because they fired Marty after they went 14-2. wtf does that?
And a little over a yr later, he would have something in common with Norv Turner: Be a Redskins HC under Dan Snyder
And like Turner, Shanahan only made the playoffs once with the Redskins.
Meanwhile, the 11-5 Patriots WHO DIDN’T HAVE TOM BRADY BECAUSE OF HIS SEASON-ENDING ACL TEAR didn’t make the postseason.
8-8, division-winning San Diego: 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Tbh San Diego were much better than their 8-8 record suggested. Also yes I am sick they didn’t make the postseason that year
At least New England didn't make it that year because Miami deserved a division title.
